Where do I begin? They made reservations for two of us for Raja Ampat Explorers and Wakatobi in Indonesia. Flight information within Indonesia was wrong. We were charged for items that were supposed to be included in the package. The resorts themselves were wonderful but we should have made all our plans ourselves. WARNING BLUE WATER TRAVEL covid 19 / government shut down We booked back to back trips to Tahiti in 2021 with two tour companies. Ten days with Olivia Tours and 7 days with Blue Water Travels of California. Olivia travels notified us 10 days prior to trip that due to covid 19 the French Polynesian Government issued a lockdown on Tahiti. NO PROBLEM Olivia Tours rescheduled the cruise trip for 2022. All airlines flights were fully refunded. BIG PROBLEM Blue Water Travels of California! We communicated with our Blue Water Travel agent, Maya for months discussing the shut down. We believed Maya was representing us in good faith but she was always blaming Aqua Tiki II for refusing to reschedule at no extra cost. We personally never received proof of the communication between Aqua Tiki II and Maya. We were never able to talk directly with Aqua Tiki II! OUR CONCLUSION In reality Maya did not want to loose her commission or the companies commission. SCUBA DIVER ALERT We carry both DAN travel insurance / DAN diving insurance. We filed a claim with the DAN travel insurance. DAN does not cover a government shut down! read more

DO NOT BOOK WITH THIS COMPANY. Quotes are almost double what you would expect to pay if you booked directly with the resort. Once I raised any issues, the stopped replying and became condescending in any replies I did receive. I paid $2300 for a trip that should cost $1500 to stay for 2 nights in a 3-star resort and 6 dives in Fiji. Invoice had no mention of currency that they would charge in. We booked a trip to Anilao, Philippines with them for the underwater photography course. Outstanding!! Easy to book. Great price. Shannon was fabulous with all the trip details. The trip leaders provided us with so much information My Brain was bordering on explosion. Eventually with great hands on coaching and their patience it all started to come together beautifully. My pics were amazingly better after this one trip. I am rebooking the same trip again soon just as a refresher and for more education. Scot and. Rai really did a great job. The resort was very nice. we completed a trip to tahiti in january 2020 that went well enough with a few issues, but over all good. also to sea of cortez in 2019. however that was pre-covid. after booking a nightmare for solomon islands in january for september travel, i am astounded by the behavior of this company and i implore you to read cancellation policies and consider the actions and behaviors of the for profit company fighting for survival. bluewater continues to promote trips for sale that are not possible due to current travel restrictions. consider they are still selling trips to solomon islands that will not go out due to airport shut down, flight cancellations, and even the liveaboard boat admits that charter trip is NOT sailing. but bluewater will sell you the trip. right now. consider that i have asked our contact at bluewater for information regarding the trip several times and if the operator will consider cancellations and refunds and all i have are delays and "wait and see" answers to get us beyond the time period where a refund was possible. their behavior reeks of not having our safety in mind during this health and travel advisory period. The US govt., the solomon island govt, all other oceania govt.s are advising no unnecessary travel. the solomons are a covid free country and they have a long list of restrictions on travel to keep it that way. but will bluewater even admit it at this point? no. buyer beware. read more

I wish there were 6 stars to give them!!! The best ever! Maya H. is a dream to work with. They book Scuba Club Cozumel which is helpful. My reservation AFTER SCC were cancelled and Maya sprung in to action. They have colleagues in the die areas which makes the service smoother. Check out their website and newsletter. Just returned from a two-week dive trip to Indonesia, consisting of two one-week venues with transfers to offshore islands. Having never traveled to the area, and having had some previous bad experiences with travel agents, I was extra cautious and asked plenty of questions. The folks at Bluewater Travel make their recommendations based on personal visits to the resorts, and frequent communications with resort staff. In addition, Scott Geitler (UW Photo Guide) who is connected with the travel agency, has first hand knowledge as a diver and underwater photographer (as am I). I let them suggest my itinerary based on what I wanted to photograph and cost. Overall very pleased with the service and how the trip turned out (one of my best). Will definitely travel with them again. read more

The only dealings I've had with the agency itself is to set up a trip, paying a 25% deposit for the trip well in advance, and then canceling the trip well in advance for my own reasons. The cancellation policy was, at least to my understanding, that I'd forfeit 25% of the paid funds, so long as I canceled at least 4 months in advance, NOT THE ENTIRE DEPOSIT. Apparently, this is not the case, as apparently, at least according to Katie, no matter that I canceled timely, THE ENTIRE DEPOSIT IS FORFIT. In my opinion, this is neither fair, just, or proper business dealings. ADDENDUM: After further conversations with both Katie and Scott, I'm going to amend this review due to the fact that this appears not to be Blue Water Travel's policies, instead is the Emperor's (live-aboard, Red Sea) policies. And since it appears that the good folks here are going to do whatever they can to get me back all or as much as they can of my deposit, that, in my mind signifies exceptional good faith on their part. So on that basis, I'm certainly a fan. My only gripe at this point, is that maybe the return policy should be clearer. Monies returned, I'm definitely a fan. read more

We use Bluewater Travel to help us set up all of our international dive trips. We have done guided trips with them (Cozumel, Raja Ampat, Tanzania/Zanzibar-safari and diving) and customized trips that they set up for us (Philippines, Bonaire, Fiji, and now Palau/Yap). All have been excellent. They take care of everything except the international flights, and we've had very smooth trips as a result. We feel like we've gotten great value for the trips, with fantastic accommodations and amazing diving! In addition, the Bluewater team is very responsive to questions and concerns. Tim Yeo helps us with many of the customized trips, and we've been on trips led by Mark Strickland and Adam Gibson--all excellent. I don't know why you would book a dive trip with anyone else or try to do it on your own. For no extra price, you can have Bluewater do all the legwork. They've been to these places, they know the resorts and dive boats, and they are all divers themselves. They rock! read more
