Check-in is seamless, and the locker rooms are fully stocked with easy-to-use lockers, plush robes, slippers, and luxurious bath products. It feels indulgent from the start. The amenities are what truly set this place apart. Outside, you can choose between two large heated pools at different temperatures, plus a hot tub tucked away in the far corner for a quieter soak. Inside, there are two additional hot tubs, a spacious sauna, and a steam room. There are showers with a signature scrub, too. If the weather doesn't cooperate, there are plenty of comfortable indoor lounging areas, including dreamy zero-gravity chairs that make it impossible not to relax. Both visits, we treated ourselves to bottle service, which made the day feel extra special. While I didn't order food, the portions looked generous and the pricing felt fair for a luxury resort experience. The staff is exceptionally well-trained, and a few team members truly went above and beyond both times. We brought cash on our second visit to make sure we could tip appropriately. One thing I will say: if you're looking for a QUIET and ultra-peaceful experience, I would avoid Saturdays. The first time we went (a Sunday), it felt very zen. The second visit was on a Saturday, and there were larger groups celebrating birthdays. Some guests were there to party, and it got loud, specifically at the hot top and indoors. Obviously, that's out of the Fairmont's control, but it's something to keep in mind depending on the vibe you're hoping for. There's honestly no better way to spend a winter day, especially when you can follow it up with a meal at El Molino Central right across the street. When we arrived there was a wedding going on. It was a little confusing how to find the spa. One of the employees told us to follow the brick path and take a right. A less scenic but easier instructions would be to head back out towards the street after dropping off your car with the valet and make a left. As you're walking along the street you'll easily find The Spa/pool area. Checking in we were given a pair of slippers and shown the locker room. Instructions on how to use the locker are easy. You get to choose a 4 digit code. I recommend bringing a swim suit so you can enjoy the hydrotherapy garden (jacuzzi and steam room) afterwards. I was told access to the pool is available for an additional $5. Very clean facilities! Someone must be attending to the locker rooms constantly. Nothing was out of place. Plenty of clean towels. Lots of personal care products available. In the waiting area for the massage even had cookies from the restaurant. There's also water and tea available. After the 50 minute MacArthur massage I felt like I woke up from a good nap. It was very refreshing. My friend said her massage targeted areas based on what she did for work repetitively. I arrived at night, so all the ambience from the lighting, the moon, the glimmer off the fountain in the middle of the courtyard. Immediately was struck. I had just made the marathon drive from Pasadena, CA, and was just tired, hungry and looking to get to the room and get to dinner. But the warm faces and kind words instantly washed the road away from me (and to be honest, the perfectly chilled glass of local champagne certainly helped that too!). They ensured everything was right with the room and with the stay and so I headed out to pick up the puppy from the car and settle up to the room. And then... there is the story of the puppy. Out of all the hotels and resorts I've stayed in - nothing NOTHING compares to the dog friendly (while still wholly human centric) service at this Fairmont. They made me feel like Chance was as much a guest there as I was. And all that isn't even to mention the concierge, the perfect cocktails from the bartender, the beautiful winding paths that guide you through the campus, the world class spa and massages (note - make SURE you check out the quiet room, nothing like it I've ever seen), the OUTSTANDING breakfast under the trees next to the pool... I just don't have time to list it all here. But the cherry on top - really is the people. They just... they are the magic that infuses everything in the building, everything in the resort, everything in the spa. They were there for me at every turn and at every moment, for every need. Unfortunately, this stay was remarkably disappointing. Our room had an enormous carpet stain. Both TVs repeatedly froze on "Accessing" and reset to the Chromecast screen despite staff trying to fix them. Our in-room dining arrived with soggy fries and brown avocado. Restaurant service was consistently slow, including at Santé, where our waiter disappeared and I eventually had to go looking for someone just to get our check. Our six-year-old was excited about the kids' lounge, but the advertised PlayStation was broken. The restroom across the hall had a toilet full of sewage. We also had parking problems twice. We were told self-parking was $29, but the machine tried to charge us $50 the first time and $53 the second. The front desk later told us we should have received a parking QR code at check-in, but no one had given us one. Finally, a $20 DoorDash delivery disappeared after being delivered to the hotel. No one brought it to our room or contacted us, and the hotel could not locate it the following day. Front-desk lines were substantial virtually every time we needed assistance. A manager did waive our resort fee, which we appreciated. But given the sheer number of problems, that didn't feel proportionate to the experience. We actually considered leaving, but this was my wife's 40th birthday weekend and we had planned the trip around staying here, so we tried to make the best of it.
