Came here one night to meet a friend and hang with her boyfriend. I had the greatest time sitting at the bar, chatting with my friend and the super lively and animated bartender. Ordered Thai Wings and Sautéed Prawns. Thai Wings weren't bad, but they were the kind of wings that I'm not a fan of - super big and kind of fatty. I tend to be a bit grossed out by them. The flavor was decent, if a bit on the too-sweet side. I ate 1 wing and called it a day. Enjoyed the Sautéed Prawns as it was exponentially better than the Thai Wings. The wonderful garlic bread that accompanied it is a total winner. Friend ordered spaghetti and meatballs...I wasn't a fan of the texture of the meatballs. In spite of that, they tasted decent. The views are gorgeous and spectacular. I'd return and try different things on the menu. read more

This review is not about the server or the food. Our server was actually exceptional, prompt, and felt bad about what we experienced from another staff member here. And the food was prepared very well for the most part. This review is about the horrible treatment one of our friends received after entering the restaurant. First things first - this is an establishment built on a lake. Obviously guests are going to be wearing boating attire at times, and as long as they have a shirt and shoes and they should be good to go. That's where this place has it all screwed up. When we walked up, what we thought was the entrance (as we've entered here MULTIPLE times previously) was apparently only an exit, because a woman working made a comment and gave us a puzzled look and it was made obvious that we were walking through the wrong door. As we were asking to be seated, she came up to my friend's daughter and told her that unfortunately her "bathing suit" would need to be covered. First of all, it wasn't a 2 piece, it was not showing a midriff, and it didn't even expose cleavage. It was legitimately a body suit - you know, the ones that most girls wear these days that are one piece and they tuck into their denim shorts or jeans - with the print of the American flag on it. She wasn't wet, fresh out of the water, sandy - nothing. She was wearing this as an outfit tucked into her jean shorts. The ONLY difference between this and a regular women's one piece body suit was the American flag print for the holiday. We sent her back out to the boat and she found a grotesquely oversized flannel to wear over her (which looked ridiculous and was hard to eat in) and we all thought we'd just let it pass and laugh it off as a ridiculous rule. Until it dawns on me - you're telling a young girl to cover up who's barely exposing her arms and décolletage - yet an EMPLOYEE walks by me after all of this happens - wearing black panty hose as pants and that's acceptable? Your standard for dressing is only for the patrons? The ones that PAY YOU and keep a PAYCHECK GOING FOR YOU? My mouth dropped when a server walked by me and I could see the stitching of her panty hose in between her ass and her tank top stopped at her waist. Also, the woman, Sandy, who told us she needed to be covered, was wearing a spaghetti strapped dress exposing her entire back, chest, arms, and a big red star tattoo on her left bicep - and her dress didn't match any of the employees wearing all black - it was a total disaster and yet you're concerned with a stylish American flag one piece on a 4TH OF JULY WEEK/WEEKEND. I walk up to her and try to comprehend her reasoning and all she tells me is she has only been working here for 3 weeks and she doesn't know it's just a rule and it "appears to be a bathing suit." Just a rule? I'm sorry, but if Khloe Kardashian walked in wearing a one piece body suit tucked into denim jeans (which she is famous for wearing and selling) - I HIGHLY doubt you'd be telling her to turn around and that her outfit wasn't acceptable and that she needed to cover up. After we walked out, there were a group of guys sitting out on the patio wearing tank tops eating and drinking - I could see their entire chests with their nipples exposed, their abs because the tanks were low cut, and they were slouched in their seats enjoying their time like they should've been - but of course they weren't told to cover up. Why? Because they weren't a threat to another woman. This was judgmental, sexist, discriminatory, hypocritical, and truly just pathetic. A sorry would've sufficed, but she couldn't even offer me up one of those. If you're trying to run an elevated, more pretentious environment, hold EVERY patron and EVERY EMPLOYEE to your "standard." This will not be the only platform I leave a horrible review. read more

Owner called me a Liar... I had a wonderful day on my boat with my wife, my son and his new girlfriend. After 4 hours on the lake we went to Bluewater Bistro (been multiple time) and where very happy to get a table on the lower level outside. Our dog was still on our boat and the very sweet waitress said our dog could join us (she even brought him water). We had cocktails and appetizers and ordered our dinner. My son and I both ordered their cowboy ribeye. We ordered MR and Rare. My sons arrived Med-Medwell and my rare steak was Medium (We understand steaks get overcooked sometimes). The waitress was very apologetic and offered too re-cook. We asked for a menu to look at other option. She offered to put the steak in a togo box for our dog instead of throwing out (that was a first and it made us happy). While she was away the owner (looked like a homeless person) arrived our table and said our steaks looked MR too him. I asked him to bring back the steaks (my steak was supposed to be Rare) and show me it MR and Rare. He said they threw them away already (waitress said she was putting in a box for our dog). He then called me a liar and wanted to get into a confrontation that upset me, my wife and table. Ruined our beautiful day and evening. I'm not someone to be called a liar in front of my wife and son. I lost it. The biggest looser was our waitress. Service was so so and the food was average at best. My cowboy bone in ribeye was over cooked and the portion of baby reds was small. All in all the location is the only thing this place has going for it. It could be one of the best places to have a romantic dining dinner date. When I made reservations for Thanksgiving dinner I had no idea we'd be sitting in the outside extension. What were they thinking? No amount of clear tarps and outdoor heaters changed the fact that we were sitting outside in November. Did they not notice how many patrons were eating with their coats and hats on? Did they take notice that at least two other tables asked about the possibility of being seated inside? This required a reservation made well in advance? As the evening approached, the temp only dropped making it even more cold. The servers were, as always, very hospitable and friendly. At least the food was warm. Awful experience. Almost ruined our first Mother's Day. We had a 12pm reservation for Mother's Day. The hostess couldn't even get to us on arrival until 12:20. There was another at least a 45 minute wait for a table. We didn't stay. The restaurant was overfull - service was clearly terrible and the staff were fried. The reservation list (available for all to see) had double the restaurant's capacity. They had 6-8 families per 15 minute time slot. The poor hostess was absolutely overwhelmed. There were a dozen disappointed families jammed into the lobby area, and more outside. The atmosphere was horrible because of this - the tangible feeling of clear disappointment against expectation of a day of celebrating. Very poor form by a greedy establishment. Terrible experience, worst in 3 years in Seattle, will never go here again. read more

Went here for New Years Eve and had a great time. I placed a reservation towards the evening and as we approached the restaurant we noticed it was incredibly busy. Luckily making the reservation we were seated within five minutes of walking in which was an amazing feeling considering the place seemed jam packed. I ordered the New Year's Eve special steak and lobster which came out great. My wife ordered the ribeye steak and she couldn't stop talking about how good it was. The service was good and the food came out in a timely manner. We had an incredible evening at Blu Water and will be back for lunch or dinner. read more

Awful experience started in the parking lot when we arrived. Huge pile of trash like you would see at a homeless camp. Once inside and got seated one person in our party ordered a Sangria and after a couple of sips she had a piece of glass in her mouth. She told the waitress who gave her an odd look as if she was joking. Brought her another Sangria and again pieces of glass in her mouth. Bathroom trash cans overflowing with trash all over the floor. 5 in our party and when plates for 4 arrived at the table it took 15 minutes for the 5th person in our party to get her meal. I've been growing tired of Daniels HH, and their obvious affinity for seniors, so I pranced over to BluWater for a change of pace. Mind you, the only time I've ever been here is when I was getting off a boat and intoxicated. So my blurry memory told me this place was decent. Blurry memory significantly failed me - again! The view *could* be nice, if it weren't for the windows being COVERED in spiders. Its beyond off-putting. Right when you take a bite of your over salted, obviously pre-plated food, you look over to see a land beast of a spider lurking at you from the widow. I saw over ten different huge spiders while sitting in my 1970's booth in just under an hour. The servers are nice, the Stella was cold, but the rest I could really just do without. I came here with a friend for dinner, and this is a decidedly average place. On the plus side, we had a great view of the water, and the waitstaff was friendly. We had a bread plate with spiced oil to start, and the carbs hit the spot. It did come out cold, as a few fellow yelpers noted. The cauliflower appetizer came out crisp and piping hot. I definitely recommend. The biggest problem I had were the salmon tacos. They were just not that flavorful. There were three of them, in doubled up tortillas. Pico, Guac, and sour cream on the side. I really wanted to like it, but I would recommend a different dish. My friend enjoyed her fish and chips: if I come back I will give that a whirl. read more

Once again bad service. This place is hit or miss. Forget about getting any service if someone who appears to be more wealthy than you come in because you will be completely ignored. There only appeared to be 2 servers outside in the front seating area. You can forget about sitting out by the lake unless you like spiders in your hair. They could really make this place a lot nicer if they updated the back seating area and hired more staff. Also last night the amount of babies crying made it feel like I was at a day care. I gotta say, the best thing about this place was sitting around the table with 4 generations of L.B. women. This is the place we go with the family and last Saturday night our meal was just about the same as every dinner I've had at BWB. The menu is confusing and strangely unappealing. I can't ever decide what to order because nothing ever sounds very good. I unwisely chose the salmon special - with a name like BWB I am continually misled to get the fish. It was my wise husband who pointed out after our meal that the fish is always the worst and to stick with meat or fowl. He and my daughter had better luck. My husband's pork chop was delish but his green beans were raw. My daughter's oven fried chicken was way too salty and they got her sides completely wrong. Her green beans, however, were fully cooked. And since that's about the only green vegetable she'll eat without wheedling and cajoling, I was unreasonably pleased with them. My salmon was described on the menu as "crusted" with potato and served in a "light butter sauce" which apparently meant "has a hunk of institutional hashbrowns on top" and "drowning in an unappetizing thick butter flavored soup." Whatev. We really only go for the desserts (and the family). Not because they are wonderful, but because they are big, like a cookie baked in a cast iron skillet and served with 3 scoops of vanilla ice cream, or, in the case of the s'mores, dramatic. The s'mores come with a pot of fire, and all the usual fixins. I don't care if you're not a fan of s'mores, fire is fun, therefore s'mores at BWB are fun. You still don't believe the desserts are big? Allow me to illustrate their bigness: last Sunday morning I cut up the left over bread pudding, dipped it in French Toast batter and made an insanely decadent breakfast that adequately fed all 3 of us. read more

This place gets two stars for two reasons: the location is fantastic and I still have fond memories of Leschi Lake Cafe. BluWater is a soulless place rot with complacency and mismanagement. I've been a couple times in the last couple months (once for drinks only and the second time because we were dropped off at the marina after a day on the lake) and both times I've been amazed at how BluWater stays in business. We sat at the bar for drinks on a Tuesday afternoon around 5:15. The place was virtually empty yet the bartender still managed to take about 10 minutes to even acknowledge us. Then when the drinks arrived the only decent ones were those that required removal of the cap. The mixed drinks are weak and if anything more than liquor + 1 mixer are terrible - did I mention weak? Shame on me for making the same mistake twice on my second visit (last Saturday) when I ordered and got a joke of a whiskey sour. It was like I'd ordered the worst lemon flavored sugar water with a splash of something that smelled like whiskey...maybe. For the sake of consistency, the food was a disaster too. My fish and chips...fried fish and fried potatoes...arrived room temp. Not even a hint of warmth. I sent them back and they returned with a new plate nice and hot. The one positive point. In case the abysmal service, poorly made drinks and marginal food aren't enough to make you choose another place, wait until the bill comes. You'll kick yourself! If you remember the old Lake Cafe with it's brick oven in the dining room, copper top tables, homey feel and sense of pride in offering a consistently good dining experience, the BluWater will make you long for those better days. read more

My best girlfriend and I armed with my Passport Unlimited Gold Card select this spot for lunch. Only a few tables were occupied at 12:30pm, I get kinda nervous... We are seated. She orders the clam linguine and I the crab mac & cheese. My friends food was good, mine was dry and needed more cheese throughout ~ duh, not macaroni with cheese on top only and melted on the bottom of the dish! Service was ok. Stopped in for a nice, quiet anniversary dinner. What a disappointment. The bar is like a pick-up hot spot for the swinging 55 + crowd. Terrible oldies music blasting throughout the tired, old, rundown place. What happened to this place? Imagine a lot of overweight old men in fancy track suits trying to get a quick look down the neighborhood blond's blouse - and she is more than happy to giggle and flirt. Get the picture? We sat along the windows to enjoy the mountain view - but were distracted by the colony of quarter-sized spiders and their thousands of spider babies...munching on flies and mosquitos. It was like a 70s horror film. The entire east side of the building was crawling. Plus, for some reason the side of the room we were enjoying smelled like vinegar. Was it the dirty rag she used to wipe the table? The hostess and bus staff - all inexperienced teenagers just waiting to clock out for the night. We waited at our table for 10 minutes before they realized Suzi sat us - which was fine. The waitresses looked to have retired and transferred from 13 Coins at Sea-Tac. Our honey was wearing the floral uniform and called us "dolls" each time she passed, then flashed us a toothless smile. Dude, send your staff to training and get them something clean too wear. The food was bad and overpriced (dry, flavorless hamburger with a giant bun and super duper deep, deep-fried fish and chips...how can fish and chips be bad?). I think now I realize why the place is decorated like a cave. If you can't see the food - all the better. Don't even sample the bread crust and olive oil they gift you when you sit down. Are they saving this bread to make stuffing later? Drive on past this prime wasted real estate along Lake Wash Blvd. No. My advice - stop in for a drink this summer and enjoy the view. Sit outside to avoid the bad music, dreary decor, and tacky crowd. Then head up the road to Madrona or Madison Park for a good meal. Nothing redeeming about Bluwater tonight - besides my wonderful love machine across the table. Oh, and the view of Bellevue has potential. read more

This review is 95% about the service at Bluwater. A group of us moored our boat for some happy hour here last week. The service was abysmal. I hate to give a bad rating based on one or two servers, but for God's sake--a server should at least TRY to smile and be polite to paying customers. Granted, it was the day before Seafair began, but the restaurant was almost empty. I do believe we were her only table. The appetizers and drinks were palatable, but even at happy hour prices, there are much better places to go. Places, where I would hazard a guess, the server would at least crack a smile or attempt an iota of friendliness. Just an overall unpleasant experience and I will not be going back. read more

What a nice surprise! After an evening swim my boyfriend and I were looking for a happy hour spot with our only criteria being a a patio and happy hour. Blu fit the bill so we took our chances never having been here before. The food and the service were both five star experiences. Our waitress was really friendly and attentive without being pushy. We did take our sweet time ordering and may have been a bit annoying, but she was refreshingly patient with us to the point that we discussed how nice it was to have a great waitress on our walk back to the truck and I even felt compelled to call the restaurant and express our gratitude for such exceptional service. I now regret not also extending our compliments to the chef when I called because our clams were perfect and exactly what we were hoping for. They were tiny and tender in a rich, buttery broth with plenty of parsley. No sooner had I mentioned that I wished we had bread to take advantage of the sauce, Hannah (our waitress) appeared with thinly sliced bread for just that reason. I don't know if she's really sneaky and was somehow listening in on our conversation, or if it was just a happy accident, but I guess it doesn't really matter as she made us happy as clams. We also ordered the flat-bread plate which somehow managed to provide the precise amount of topping options it would take to top the amount of provided flat bread (which was pretty generous) so that when we were done, there were only a few scraps of bread and topping smears left on the plate. We both decided that the tapanade was our favorite but the marinated peppers, roasted elephant garlic and cambozola cheese were also eagerly consumed. We left happy, satisfied and more importantly, with a new favorite place. Keep it up Bluwater! I promise not to dock any stars if an errant cat decides to wander in. This place is close to our house and I WISH it were great because it would be a regular hang out. But it just isn't. One of the best views in the city, but the food is mediocre and the service is just poor. We took our $20 gift card (direct mail promotion) to enjoy brunch today and it was a disappointment all the way around. Special requests were forgotten, no check back from the waiter (who only had 4 tables as far as we could tell), portions were a little smaller than I remember, and ingredients in my avocado scramble tasted, well, less than fresh. English muffin was barely toasted. We were hoping the gift card would give us a chance to create another relationship with them, but it was just another bummer. We won't be going back unless it is for a cheap happy hour deal or a sporting event in the bar area. Nothing seems to change here. What a waste of a great spot. read more

Wow. Seattle, why give this local estab an average of 2 stars for it's beautiful view of Lake Washington and it's delish, cooked-to-CORRECT-temp Salmon and it's bomb ass skillet cookie desert?! Before I left the great north west, I was on a mission: To find the best tasting and cooked salmon of all scruffy bearded, plaid-emo, cool-hipster, intelligible rain kind. I didn't find it at Tom Douglas. FACT: I didn't find it at Tom Douglas... twice! (at both Etta's and Seatown Seabar) I found that deliciously cooked salmon and great service here at Bluwater! As I was packing my things for my drive down to Nor Cal, I came across this magical fifty dollar gift card. My roommates and I are stark hungry, broke, and a bit depressed from the transition of a new roommie as I leave: Lets go get din din! We've all never been, but of course, one of us is too present-minded and checks Yelp. Whoa, what is up with all these horrible reviews?!? Should we even still go? We slap ourselves mentally to think of passing up a free din din. We make reservations via opentable with no problems too. As we enter, a friendly host greets us and seats us in a table near the view. Fairly busy, but not bustling. It's okay because we aren't sitting at a booth because we can sill see the view. We are greeted promptly with some bread. Bread may not be their forte. Tasted more like a crouton to me with some oil, but you're not there for their bread! Their menu has a myriad of dishes. All new-american style and you can also find these dishes elsewhere. For example, pair a white fish with some salsa containing some sweet fruit and add a side of grilled veggies, and you have yourself a recipe for success. Same goes with Salmon, their steak, stuffed fishes and other originals. They have app portions for some of their dishes too, I believe which includes the Salmon. I had a problem deciding between the Salmon app or the Salmon meal. Ironically, we all chose the salmon. Having a difficult time finding a properly cooked Salmon (Medium to Med Rare, baby!) I chose it hoping my last dinner in Seattle would be cooked properly. The waiting time was great. Enough time to pick at our bread and sip our water and converse about all things- Washingtonian, and there came our Salmon! Silence. We ate it in less than 15 minutes. I was so shocked that I had gotten what I wanted, LOL. The servers checked on us twice which was perfect without being to over-bearing and enough to make sure we were satisfied. We had a great time at Bluwater. The cherry of the whole experience at Bluwater was the absolutely delicious cookie skillet ice cream nonsense. Nonsense..in my belly! Warm, great texture, just enough crisp and enough ice cream to wash down that unbelievably cooked salmon. Thanks for making my last dinner in Seattle an experience never to forget! So I had heard about their cheap brunch deal- some eggs and stuff for five bucks. I called a couple friends to come meet me. I sat down at a table to wait for them and wasn't even acknowledged by the server for a good 8 minutes. We ordered from our admittedly hungover female server with leftover pioneer square nightclub stamps on the inside of her wrist. She was pretty out of it. Everyone working there seemed to be pretty out of it. Most of the servers seem to be inexperienced (but young and cute) females. Overall service was horrible. The food took way too long. Me and my friend ordered the 'omelet of the day' - "Fresh mozarella, tomato, and pesto" which turned out to be a total bland mess. the Mozarella was super rubbery, the tomato tasteless, and the pesto lacking flavor as well. the side potatoes were soggy-ish. The orange slice was OK. No one liked their food really- one of the guys mentioned his fries were way over-fried. The mimosas are so cheap $3 because they used the crappiest OJ and what tasted like a "splash" of Cooks sparkling wine. The spacey server forgot my order as well so I had to wait for her to come over. One of us actually had to get up and go find what seemed to be the only bottle of ketchup and Tabasco in the whole place. This place is over priced as well. Ya just because it's on the lake doesn't mean it's going to be great. Going here would be a total waste of your time and money. read more

Beautiful view of the water. My girls and I used to have a monthly brunch at this place but it has progressively gone downhill in the last 7-8 years. The place needs a good cleaning from ceiling to new carpets. Cobwebs hang around window frames and old, dried up food crumbs litter the window sills and the floor. It definitely makes you lose your appetite. The food is inconsistent. Last time we came (a month apart in visits), the Country Fried Chicken Steak was really good but the next time we ordered it, it didn't taste the same. I seriously don't know how the Health Department even keeps this place open. If the dining area looks so drab, poor and dirty, I can't imagine how sanitary the kitchen is. Otherwise it's dark, dingy, the dinner ware, linens tables and floors are consistently filthy. Why are all surfaces sticky? The food is ok, but over priced. This place is great in concept... there is truly not a better location in the madrona/leschi/central district to sit and have a drink, and their menu in theory is great. But, the service is truly terrible. I am not one to give a place a bad review, but we keep coming here (because its close to home and it is such a great location) and keep getting the shaft from hipster doofus (or possibly just incompetent) servers. Screwed up orders and rude attitudes can not make up for even the most beautiful of settings. Skip it and bring a flask if you want to sit and have a drink on the lake. read more

The reason they got one star is the service. The server was right on time and referred the manager to our table to comp the breakfast. She had sausage, eggs, potato's. No sausage... ok... bacon. The bacon came and was all but raw, not good so strike two. Bad bacon... ok... Hash. The hash was not good, strike three. I had the crab cake Benedict. Crab cakes were mostly breading and were undercooked. The rancid grapefruit slice on the plate as garnish is what just killed it. The location is good, the service was good, the kitchen blew it.
