I always get #1 Ham & Meatloaf banh mi sandwich. The sandwiches is Buy 2 Get 1 Free. The bread is fresh and ingredients are fresh too. It's not salty or anything. The pickled veggies and jalapeños give it the best combination ever! You can have the any ingredients taken out or have it on the side. The teas are Buy 1 Get 1 Free. I like Milk Tea Pudding. Thai tea is also good but I suggest opting for 1/2 sugar because the condensed milk makes it very sweet. I get it without ice too. There are a lot of other food options. You can dine in or take out. The dine is has limited seating but I've never seen it full. Restroom is "out of order" but you can ask for them for a key code3274 They have desserts, egg rolls, spring rolls, etc. Service is what you expect. Don't expect quality service. It's pretty much eat and leave or take out. Only the cashier at the front will talk to you. I've asked the people who were making food if there are anymore egg rolls, but they just ignore you. And when the cashier is on the phone, you'll have to wait until she finishes. Store "A" grade

Let's not let appearances stop you from coming. The location is a little sketchy and homeless tend to be by the bus stop from time to time. But, the food is good and affordable. People come also just to buy their fresh made baguettes. Some of the fried items tend to sell out quickly.

This is the go to spot in Hacienda Heights for some delicious banh mi! The service is pretty quick. There were some people who were still waiting for food but the turnaround was pretty quick. I also like that this is one of the cleaner locations compared to the other BMC Pho locations.

Fly in sandwich
Mr. J.

I'm not one to leave bad reviews unless I am being honest. There was literally a dead fly in my bahn mi sandwich. I bought the buy 2 and get 1 free. I'm returning all of them when I'm done with my meetings. I still have the receipt. I'm pretty grossed out from what I saw. I actually do know I've seen flies in their restaurant but never in my food! I'm going to be really hesitant to eating places where I've seen flies now that they might get into the food!

It's a BMC and one of the smaller locations but they bake fresh baguettes on premise and offer cheap eats so it's hard to complain. It's not in the best neighborhood but there are not as many Vietnamese restaurants around Hacienda Heights so take the food to go. Buy 2 get one free Bahn Mi is the way to go or the premade rice box lunches. Check out my pics!

Absolutely love this place! One of two BMC's in the area, and my fave to go to. My coworkers and I frequent here for their banh mi's. Banh mi's are light and the baguettes don't make me feel like I'm breaking my jaw. Another perk is that the banh mi's are buy two get one free (note: restaurant is available on uber eats and other delivery services, but the sale does not apply). In addition to banh mi's they sell other Vietnamese items like pho, vermicelli bowls, etc.. Most dishes can be ordered fresh or over the counter. There's usually a handful of prepped plates and bowls ready to go.

Low on frills restaurant / deli that operates like a fast/ casual spot. You can order pho, but I came here for the banh mi or the Vietnamese sandwiches and I got them to go. The folks here were very friendly and I love the buy 2 get 1 free deal. It's a really good deal in my opinion. So for about $12-14, you get three quality, large sandwiches. There are also some other packaged goods you can buy that are located by the register. I got two bbq pork and one of the ham & meatloaf (#1). Since I was getting to go, I requested the veggies on the side. I got a package of the shrimp spring rolls. Overall, this food lasted me about 2-3 meals - dinner that night (a sandwich and the rolls) and two sandwiches I just ate at random times the next day. I thought the sandwiches were great with good bread. The rolls were good as well. Overall, this spot provides a lot of value for what you pay and the food is really good. I think it's a mini chain or something, because I feel like I've seen or heard of other locations. It's located in a strip mall with plenty of parking.

Vegetarian pho

Great afternoon lunch break spot! They will go above and beyond to provide you with the best customer service ever! The vegetarian bahn mi and pho were both great staples and at affordable prices! Ample seating and located in hacienda heights! Rating 8/10

The staff was so rude !!! She cannot even get my order correct 3 times and she blame on me . Food was ok but feels like they don't want any business just get pay minimum pay . Sad for the owner

Bun Bo Hue (Spicy Beef Noodle Soup)
Alexander C.

This restaurant is a solid choice if you're looking for a more "fast/casual" Vietnamese restaurant. Yes...I know that if you're in the SGV there's no shortage of great Vietnamese restaurants, but if you are pressed for time and looking for decent quality Vietnamese food like Banh Mi, Pho, or in this case Bun Bo Hue, then this place deserves a chance! It's not the most traditional or "best" Bun Bo Hue, but honesty there are not that many sit down Vietnamese restaurants nearby that make it vastly better. So, in a pinch this is good enough for me. Service is fast and staff are friendly. It's a local spot, so I try to support them!

Dense baguette
Tessa L.

Banh mi's are good and they pack a lot of meat in there, however, I would say that their baguette's are really dense and chewy as opposed to light, fluffy, and crispy that you'd find at other places. I don't hate it but I find it a bit hard to swallow because it feels like the bread is too dry. The baguettes are really toasted on top but don't let that fool you, it's not crispy at all. I do like that it doesn't cut up the inside of my mouth when I take a bite but I do wish that it was less dense and more fluffy. Prices are reasonable, 6.50 per sandwich, buy 2 get 1 free. Decent lunch option.

The menu has pictures and describes what is included with each noodle dish. The signature noodles I ordered came with crispy pork and beef, and both were delicious. Anyway, if you see Zhu Chicken, you are at the right restaurant! I got a crispy pork rice noodle with pickled bamboo and possibly one other meat. I can't recall. The crispy pork is a must. It's so fatty, but paired with a pickled veggie and that super spicy green sauce from the sauce bar, it was amazing. They give you a vinegar sauce, and you can add as much garlic, cilantro, and hot sauce as you want from the hot sauce bar. I went for a briney, spicy flavor with a ton of garlic and cilantro, and the resulting combination is something I still think about. Rice noodles were nothing special imo. They were soft and slippery, but didn't really soak up the sauce. You just have to get a perfect bite (or in my case gobble) that has all the layers of warm soft noodle, fatty rich meat, and spicy/sour notes from the sauces. I can't really compare this dish to anything, so I highly recommend coming here if you want something unique and bursting with flavor.

This is a no frills hole-in-the-wall and only locals visit. The restaurant is definitely a casual location, with some cold dish items in large bowls in the glass deli counter and then there were pre-made & pre-packaged dishes such as dumplings, asian tamales and drinks in a commercial refrigerators on the side. There are only a handful of tables as the dining room isn't very big. There was a steady stream of customers for dine in and take out. This place was listed as serving Taiwanese food, but I feel like it serves more Chinese dishes than Taiwanese. They did have beef noodle soup with lean meat, tendon or lean meat & tendon. It was good but the broth was not as deeply unctuous as the Taiwan versions. I am Taiwanese and my relatives were visiting from Washington and Alabama, so I was hoping they had more Taiwanese dishes like oyster pancake, rice meat balls, squid vermicelli soup, gua boas, etc. The waitress and cooks were from China and not Taiwan. Maybe the original owners were Taiwanese...idk. The menu is extensive for such a small mom & pop type restaurant and had nice photos of some of the dishes. The menu was a lot fancier than the restaurant! We ordered beef noodle soup, bitter melon, sautéed intestines, string beans and it all tasted delicious. There was some picked mustard greens on the table for the beef noodle soup and it was the perfect add-on! We were all very satisfied.

It offers a generous portion of tender, juicy meat and springy, fresh noodles. "DELICIOUS!!" I arrived at No. 1 Noodle House (Rowland Heights) on Sunday (around 11AM). Parking is easy. The lot is big with many spots. Staff is very friendly and welcoming, but Staff spoke limited English. Fortunately, pointing at the menu was clear enough. The food took eight minutes and nine seconds. Fast time! As mentioned, the Beef Rib Noodle Soup ($16.50 - Mild) is wonderful! It arrived picturesque and delicious!! However, despite ordering "mild," the food has a very strong heat; I sweat nonstop as I ate. The broth is rich, savory, and spicy. The meat is tender, flavorful, and falls off the bone. And the noodles are hefty, soft, and springy. It's a wonderful, euphoric combination of flavors and textures. Concerning ambiance, No. 1 Noodle House (Rowland Heights) is surprisingly spacious with its tall ceiling and relatively clean surroundings. However, its walls and furniture look worn down with time. Some seats even had torn holes. Unfortunately, the music uses radio with constant commercials playing in the background. Fortunately, there's a gender neutral restroom in the back. Overall, I found culinary magic at No. 1 Noodle House (Rowland Heights). The food is fresh, generously portioned, and well-prepared. I left full with a bright smile.
