After contacting 3 other BMW Dealers closer to Ventura, I called BMW of Santa Maria. Edgar in Sales was the first salesman who knew more about the iX all-electric than I did - none of the other Dealers had sales people who knew the BMW products as well as the Santa Maria BMW dealer and Edgar. He helped me and my wife to spec out a new iX (similar in size to the X5), answered every question I asked. We placed an order at MSRP (all the other Dealers were adding huge dealer profits to the price), and Edgar kept us fully informed frequently during our wait for BMW to build and ship the order. All questions I asked of him throughout the process were answered promptly and accurately. At delivery I felt that the Dealership was more interested in us having a positive dealership experience than it did in squeezing out a few more $$. It was one of the best new car dealership experiences we have had in nearly 50 years of marriage. Definitely worth the drive up the coast. The car itself exceeded our expectations as well. read more

Let me begin by stating that even though I have lived in Santa Maria for 16 years, I have never bought a car here. I always find myself going to Los Angeles to get one. Also, I have always had an American car. BMW of Santa Maria changed all of that. I went from an Escalade to an X5. I test drove a few but learned that there are so many options on the X5 that unfortunately I didn't like the ones in their inventory. Christian Smith, finance manager, made several calls to other dealerships for some used ones that I found online. Once I settled on one, he got the car. The purchase process was simple and ridiculously easy. I already had agreed to a fair price on my trade in ($3800 more than another dealer offered me) and I knew how much the used X5 was. No arguing. I have bought 7 used cars in the last 15 years and I didn't feel like I was getting ripped off. That's a first. I will gladly return to this dealership when my 14 year old needs a car in two years. The other people working there were all friendly. Jacob and Cameron did an outstanding job helping me as well. In summary, Christian Smith made this deal a fantastic experience for me. Deserves 0 stars. Absolute worst dealership I have ever dealt with. Tried leasing an M4 Convertible in 2016 from out of state. Sent them a certified check for over $8k and they ended up keeping the check and selling the car to someone else. Everyone I spoke to at the dealership was extremely rude and unprofessional. Added on miscellaneous fees, made up fees such as $500+ to be "taught how to use the car by a BMW genius" once it was shipped to me. Management refused to ship me the car until they were reimbursed for it by BMW - therefore keeping the car for two weeks after I would have been making payments on it. Salesman harassed me with insulting texts. Ended up going with another dealership and had a tremendously better experience. read more

The worst experience. I would never recommend a friend, family member or complete stranger to come here. It's been the biggest headache! I bought my car 3 months ago and I am still dealing with things I've later realized were dishonest and slimy. I've had to go back and resign paperwork 3 times because they keep making mistakes/ leaving things out we discussed and agreed on. We signed paperwork for a interest rate knowing I told them I wouldn't go with their loan services if it were any more than the rate they offered. Then 10 days later they came back and raised the interest rate significantly. Regardless of the fact that we had already signed legally binding paperwork and they took my car trade in and sent me home with the new one.... Additional issues with the agreement we made on the warranty. They told me it would be a $0 deductible as long as I get my car fixed with them. Somewhere in the many times I had to resign that got taken off. I asked for it to be fixed and they have ignored all my calls and emails. read more

I bought a used 2012 650I from them a while back, via the internet. It arrived as advertised except for the fact that it had no floor mats which I had to argue was part of the deal as they were a FACTORY item which they finally agreed to allow me to purchase at my local BMW dealer and which they reimbursed me, but the biggest problem was the CHIP in the windshield and the various paint chips in the hood. If I had known this (obviously they never mentioned it) I would not have purchased this vehicle. They intentionally withheld this information so in my book that amounts to lying. I do enjoy this vehicle and it is a great car, but withholding pertinent information on a used vehicle makes me unable to ever do business with them again, and makes me feel like I've been taken advantage of to some extent. I want a new windshield at the very least from them. Not really reputable. I'd steer clear of this car dealership. read more

I also do not like or have time for b.s...Well, Joseph exceeded all my complaints. He got me the best deal for my trade. He made good on his promise to get my payments on my purchased vehicle to the exact dollar amount I was willing to spend. No hassle, I was in and out very timely. Signing loan with Matthew was a breeze, probably took 10 to 15 min. It was the end of the day, car needed to be cleaned. Joseph called me the next morning, and delivered the car to my driveway. I recently purchased my first 2015 BMW 428i Sport and I know I will never go anywhere else to buy, I couldn't have had a better experience. I had went to BMW of Beverly Hills...horrible experience...totally unprofessional..they couldnt do what BMW of Santa Maria did for me......So I went back to Santa Maria and Nick assisted me from the start never once tried to pressure me into a purchase... I told him what I wanted and the price range I would be comfortable at...he not only met it...he beat it giving me the best deal he could. Once that was taken care of Nick introduced me to Christian who would help me with the customization of my car... it was so simple to build my car...he showed me pictures of what it would look like and how long it would take to get to me...which was 6 weeks because they had to build my car to my liking. This whole process took about 45 minutes and I was done and out the door. Now the waiting process begins... Christian stayed in touch with me through out the 6 weeks up until the day my car arrived to the dealership. He sent me a picture text of my car...I quickly came into town brought my parents..paperwork took about an hour if that...I told them I had a world series to watch and they expedited everything just so I could make it to the game in time. Worst dealership I have ever dealt with, this is based on numerous vehicle purchases and service experience, today was the last straw. Got a recall for my 335i airbag, made the call to service which took 3 attempts, a voicemail and finally a call back 5 hours later. Explained I had received the air bag recall, service said they would have the parts ordered and call me once received to schedule an appointment. 2 weeks goes by and I receive two missed calls from BMW of Santa Maria with no voicemail, phoned them back and had to leave a message. Finally got a call back to find out that they didn't even know why I was calling and ultimately no one ordered the air bag. Wouldn't offer any apology or anything. Contacted Coast BMW and got in contact with service first attempt, parts were available and made an appointment with a loner car within 2 weeks. BMW of Santa Maria is a joke. read more

He showed me the car i was looking for, however I expressed right away that the car was outside of my budget. He was able to work with my budget,bring the price down and never once pressured me into anything. He was able to answer all my questions and even let me look at the car again before finalizing everything. Leased one of BMW's highest end vehicles, the 2019 i8 Roadster, with all the bells and whistles, from this dealership. While the initial contact and sales process was fairly smooth, can't say the same after signing the contract. It took an entire month for me to get the car, with tons of haggling with the now finance manager (Matt Correa), to finally get the car on the road. Understood it was a complex sale being am on the east coast, but everything from shipping to plates to registration was a ton of work, process, and delay. While the car drove nicely through my 3-year / 30K mile lease, at the end, BMW expected the car back on the date the contract was signed, not the date could actually drive the car, so that resulted in a full month lost of the lease. Matt refused to help me at all and deferred to BMW Financial Services, who also refused to help, and referred me to customer relations, who also refused to help, who referred me back to this dealership. Spoke with Mark Bachman who is the dealership manager, last straw and asked for just a month's reimbursement for the last measly COVID delayed payment at the end. He refused as well. I feel like I won the lottery. I have a 2005 545i which had a failing SMG hydraulic pump. An independent shop in San Luis Obispo, whom I have always had great luck with quoted me at $7,000 for the repair. Instead my buddy recommended I send it to BMW SM to see if they could better diagnose and I saved $6,000. Beware! My husband and I just purchased a BMW from Santa Maria. The process was easy especially being that we are in Northern California. we went back and forth via telephone and email to get the car price where we wanted. They definitely were open to negotiating and to make us happy. Once a price was agreed upon, we got a check issued from our credit union, they sent us the paperwork, we signed it and returned it with the check. What we didn't check and this is fully our fault, is the final sale price on the bill of sale. We thought we knew it as it was agreed upon. Now, a month later, out of the blue, we get a call from them that we owe them over $1000 and they have threatened - that's right threatened - to take us to collections. I know that there was a better way to handle that BMWSM. No longer are they trying to make us "happy". They increased the price on us without our knowledge. Again, I know we should have re-checked the price, but after all the negotiations we just signed where indicated. Obviously assuming good faith on their part. How wrong we were. I work for a litigation lawyer and she says we could easily fight this but that it is probably not worth our time. Bottom line - good lesson for us. I will NEVER do business with BMW of Santa Maria and we will be putting in a complaint with the better business bureau for their poor handling of this situation. Classy place. I saw some of their inventory on cargurus. I thought I would take a look. The place is classy, but I didn't have the feeling of a facility that was socking it to the customer to pay for it. It was a rainy day. A weekday and not too busy. I was greeted in a friendly, low key professional manner by a gracious sales person. I asked after a particular car and while he fetched it I used the restroom. It was nice, clean and well stocked. As I crossed the lobby I helped myself to some cold water and a Kleenex. I felt right at home, making myself at home. We sat in the car and talked about hybrids. This was my first serious look at one. Sheldon, my sales guy, knew all I could want to know and more. He was kind and easy going as we talked pros and cons of my current car and their car. We test drove the car, with me driving. He didn't even act scared! ( ha ha). When we were back in the BMW lot he remembered we wanted to test the auto distance while in cruise control. So we took it out again. I asked him to drive, so I could see how it worked without having to pay attention to anything else. He did and his driving didn't scare me either. (ha ha) As we sat in the car, back on the lot, I knew I was interested in seeing if the financial math would work out for me. I wondered if he was ever going to ask me if I was interested in the car! That's how low key the sales staff is here. PERFECT. Finally, the subject came up very naturally. We took a look at the math ( all those pesky add on fees like sales tax and such), trade in values. Everything possible. I never felt uncomfortable or pressured. We talked things through awhile. Researched some things online and pretty quickly came to an agreement I think we are both happy with. The gentleman that handled the purchasing paperwork, Michael, was nice, helpful and had a nice personable way about him. Signing the paperwork is pretty fancy as there is a desktop PDF signature system. I want one for my office! Sheldon help me clean out my car. Hey! $1.01 under my floor mats. Woo who! I hugged my car goodbye as it moved on to its destiny. Then quickly welcomed my new car into my life. Sheldon attached my license plates, paired my phone and programmed my garage door opener to the car. How nice is that? He showed me the details of all the bells and whistles and reminded me he was only a phone call away. I will always look back on this purchase fondly. I not sure if he's just lazy or incompetent but he should not be working the service desk at BMW. Took our vehicle in for an airbag replacement along with getting an engine light checked out. Due to confusion on his part the check engine light was not addressed, so now its stuck there another day and he "can't" find our extended warranty information and seems to be dragging his feet getting this problem fixed. Seriously thinking about just doing the one hour drive to San Luis Obispo or Santa Barbara and see if I can get better service or at the very least deal with some one who is proficient at their job or seems to care about the customer. read more

I got the car I wanted but was mislead in the service contract which I paid 1500 for. I was told by the sale person that oil changes were every 3000 miles. The finance guy told Me i would need brakes in less than 100,000 miles, (I have 160,000) no new brakes yet. He sold me on it because he said new brakes were 1500. I was told the 100,000 mile service would be covered under the added service, that was not true. I took my car in at 100,000 at they said it wasn't ready for one. 10,000 miles later I took it in for an oil change and they said it needed the 100,000 mile service. Which is no longer covered because its over 100,000 miles. (Weird). I recommend not getting the service contact, waste of money. I purchased a vehicle from this dealership in November of 2015. It was known at the time of sale that the air conditioning was not properly functioning, and the part needed to fix it would be arriving in two days. I returned the vehicle to have the part installed; this did not fix the problem. They held the vehicle for over almost two weeks attempting to fix this issue. Thankfully they gave me a "loner" vehicle. During this time period I never received status updates regarding my vehicle and never received phone calls back when I requested an update. When my vehicle was finally "fixed", I was called and told I could pick up my car. They lied, the air conditioning was not properly fixed. When I called to tell them it was not fixed they told me I could drop it off but this time no loner car would be available because they don't offer that. I told them that the had previously issued me a loner vehicle and they responded with "we will look into this and call you back"; I never received a call back. I am now in the process of obtaining legal council due to breach of contract. DO NOT do business with this company. They are unethical and do not follow through on their obligations. read more

Wow, wow, wow!!!!! I am so impressed and thrilled with the service and professionalism at BMW of Santa Maria. After a few lackluster experiences at Coast BMW, my husband gave BMW of SM a shot for his car. They made the transaction easy, pleasurable and nice. When it came time to order my new car, we spoke with both dealerships. I have to say, I was pleasantly surprised at the inventory in Santa Maria! I had no idea. Coast was fine and friendly, but we ended up going with this dealership. They had us a quote (good and fair deal) within less than an hour of our request, happily dealt with our custom order and kept us in the loop the entire time. Jorge was our salesperson and he is awesome. When my car finally arrived, they sent a bunch of pictures even though we were out of town, and took care of small modifications for us with zero hassle. When we arrived to pick up my car, it was beautifully detailed and sitting in the center of the showroom with a huge white bow! Not only was Jorge there (on Mother's Day) to welcome us, but we had our own BMW "Genius"--similar to an Apple Genius--there to walk me through all the features and mechanics of my new car! Cameron is a rock star and truly knows everything about the latest and greatest BMW has to offer. It was also amazing to share my joy and enthusiasm with someone so passionate about the brand; he even captured me driving my car out of the showroom on video! While I learned the bells and whistles, my husband was whisked through the financing process and was able to join me for the last bit of instruction on my new car. I was shocked he was already done, because the financing bit is usually annoying and painful and takes forrrreeevvveerrrrr. While we were there, multiple salespeople stopped with genuine smiles to check out the car and congratulate us--I think it was pretty much the opposite experience of how one pictures the car buying experience. I bought my car two years ago and recently the motor went out. Tony and the service team were on top of everything. They made sure that all of my warranty information covered my repair and got my car back to me in awsome condition. I made a big risk buying a used Audi but it turned out to be one of the best desicions I've made.
