She was goofy, chatty, friendly, and SO true to character, ever so slightly awkward (well, more bubbly than awkward, really). The wait took less than 30mins at 6:30pm on a relatively busy Monday afternoon (blue on the crowd calendar, 76% on Mousewait), and they were so sweet to my shy two year old who frequently talks about wanting to meet certain Disney characters (and randomly tells me she wants to hug them even when we aren't in Disneyland), but often clams up when it's finally our turn to interact with them in person or get a photo. There were a few adult guests ahead of me who were visiting from Japan and decked out in Frozen apparel and some had the cutest little themed plush Anna dolls and accessories, and Princess Anna was just so sweet she pointed them out and complimented the guests. You could tell it made their day. My daughter was shrieking and giggling excitedly when we left, and even asked to go back tomorrow. :-) This is the kind of magic we expect to experience at Disneyland, and I am SO grateful that, thanks to the actors and and how well they represented the characters, we could all feel the magic yesterday.

This one has all the ingredients of a great review…read more I took the plunge and rode Pixar Pal-A-Round... you know, that giant 120-foot Mickey Ferris wheel that you can see from practically everywhere in the park. I'd walked by it countless times, but I could never convince my wife or my son to ride it with me. Turns out... they may have known something I didn't. I figured, "How bad can a Ferris wheel be?" Famous last words. As I'm getting ready to board, there are babies crying and little kids looking nervous. That probably should've been my first clue. Then I thought I'd at least be riding with another group. Nope. Disney looked at me and said, "You're flying solo, buddy." The wheel slowly climbs higher and higher until you're staring over all of California Adventure. Beautiful views... for about five seconds. Then the swinging gondola reaches the top, rolls off the track, and suddenly launches forward and backward like it just remembered it had somewhere to be! I was hanging on for dear life. I came looking for a little thrill, but this thing scared the shit out of me. If my wife or son had been with me, I probably would've tried to make the gondola swing even harder just to mess with them but all alone? I was busy reevaluating every life decision that brought me to that seat. The ride itself was spotless, the Cast Members were friendly, and the atmosphere around the pier was awesome. It's definitely a classic Disney experience. Scare factor? On a scale of 1 to 10... scary as shit. Would I ride it again? Absolutely... right after I forget how terrified I was the first time. Review #1009 2026-079…read more Located in the Boardwalk, Supreme Scream (5: Aggressive Thrill) is a 325' tall drop tower that lifts riders 252' into the air before plunging them down at forces up to 4 Gs & -1G of weightlessness for 3-secs. For the young thrill seekers, there's a minimum 52" height requirement... not one for the faint of heart for a short 45-sec. ride. In its opening year, nearby residents complained about the ride's noise that engineers installed 14" sound buffers in the mechanics to muffle the screeching. The ride uses an S&S Power pneumatic (compressed air) system, actively blasting riders downward at speeds up to 50 mph than just using pure gravity like Magic Mountain's Freefall. Riders are blasted straight down, then bounce halfway back up before returning to the launch pad. The line may be long because it only allows 12 riders at a time even though ride time is short. I watched my daughter & her friends chatter in anticipated excitement... once they were strapped, giggles & nervous smiles. I couldn't see her during the fall, but I could definitely hear her screams. I hope from the chemical rush of joy to amp the ride's fun than primal fear, which would be me. The event is still on a Sunday evening, the 5k starting at 5:00pm. Packet pickup was the day of event starting at 3:00. We had to sign a waiver over at a different table and then bring it to get our bib. I don't recall being sent this waiver in the email. It would have helpful if they provided it ahead of time so we can just bring it already completed. Registration was still open the day of event so I don't know if that says anything about having less participants than previously. I know they lost some people when they got rid of the half marathon. The course was out and back for the 5k. The highlight of the course was running through the 2nd Street tunnel. At the finish line, we got organic coconut water, Kind Bars, and Opal apples. Bai drinks were given out at the festival area near the DJ. I liked the DJ by the way; he was from a local radio station. In the beer garden, you got to choose from beer OR wine. Angel City brewery brought it with 4 beers on tap. Barefoot wine brought 4 types of wine that we were able to sample. They also brought giveaways. Time tracker was the chip that you attach to your shoe lace and had to be returned. I saw people that threaded the chip through their shoelaces but I used the twisty ties which made it simpler for the volunteers to just cut off at the finish line. Gear check was easy. Registration for next year is already open and you bet that I signed up. As a legacy runner, we got an extra medal in addition to a 5k and 10k one. Halfie #22 This was…read moremy first race of the 2013 year, and I hold this race very near and dear to my heart. I had been experiencing neuro issues for 2 months prior to this race and I was damned I was going to miss out on my passion because of this debilitating disability. My goal was to complete the race in 3 hours - Even if I had to walk the whole damn thing, that's what I was going to do. Race packet pick up was fast. No thrills or frills. In fact, I was a little irritated that they ran out of my sweatshirt size. REALLY?! So I had to settle for a much larger size that the BF can wear. Following the expo, you pretty much just wait around, which sucked. You have to manage your time so that you get to the start line by 830-845p. My advice is to grab a carb dinner and nap, and that's exactly what I did. Our hotel was merely a half mile from the start, which was awesome. It was cold and late. I ran in a jacket, which I rarely do unless it is really cold. The glow in the dark attire is recommended so you can see other runners. If you have a headlamp, definitely use!!! I was following people with headlamps to help me see. There were some parts of the run that were absolutely gorgeous - city lights and Dodgers Stadium - but other parts were really shitty - Dodgers parking lot and ghetto streets of LA. I expected much much more, LA!!! I was really disappointed in that respect. The after party? What after party? Everyone dispersed and went home or back to their hotels. Nice open concept but nobody stayed around. It was too cold! I didn't finish until almost 1am and I was spent. Who wants to party in an empty parking lot anyways? Medals were bling and totally loved! I understand that changes have been made for the next race, so I'm hoping for this race to become more successful in the future. Although I didn't PR or even come close to my PR, I cried and prayed that I had strength to continue racing, and I'm so thankful that God gave me my running legs again. MC IS BACK... P.S. The Alhambra Pumpkin gets bigger and better every year. I have built a relationship with some of the coordinators and am happy to promote within the running community every year. What's better than starting your Sunday morning with a brisk 5k, then partying in the beer garden with hundreds of your neighbors while we listen to local musical talents? (pst, the answer is nothing). The pumpkin run offers something for everyone. From racing a 5k or 10k, to a kids run, beer from our local Ohana Brewing, food/drinks from local farmers market, kids costume contest and so much more. Always a good time. They've improved the course distance. I'll keep coming back every year!

This run is a great way to further celebrate the holiday season with friends and family. It's not…read moreso much that I love the course (as beautiful as the UCI campus is, the course doesn't really afford much of a view), but there are many, many other reasons to include Run for a Claus as part of our family's tradition. First, I love that everyone receives Santa caps and beards upon registering. Hundreds of runners, bearded white and dressed up in red, is somewhat of a rare sight. It's funny to see and to be a part of. Santa is at the run, by the way, and if you are willing to wait in line a bit, you could possibly get a picture of what could turn out to be a fun Christmas Card. Also, there's hot chocolate waiting at the finish line for everyone, to be poured into Run for a Claus coffee​ mugs, which all registrants receive. I do wish, however, that Christmas carols and music could be played aloud throughout the 5K route. After all, who doesn't love Christmas music, and how often is it that you get to run when listening to it? Parking structures are close by, and I suggest getting to the race early, as it's an easier way to experience the expo and the atmosphere without feeling rushed. Love the snow globe medals!

I was spinning it in the end, because the center wheel was a little too big for our son to handle. Some people went really fast because they never stopped spinning their wheel. And hubby told them he was getting dizzy just looking at them! This ride's a fun one!

Head up to Tacos Los Cholos and have the most amazing ribeye tacos ever!!! Best tacos in Orange County. 7. Head home before the crowds.

The iconic biggest event of the year is the US Open of Surfing which concluded yesterday w the winner who is from Encinitas, California. Jake Marshall has surfed since he was 7 and after becoming champion we can expect him to be in the Olympic Games someday. I have been going to the us open forever n I have been disappointed LEXUS as a sponsor has not generated as much excitement as past sponsors, the best one was with HURLEY of course bc they are in the surfboard business, surf wear and surf culture. They gave out a lot of freebies like caps, water n pens, Lexus almost had nothing. These days the only food you see are unsightly huge food trucks. We ate at Lorea inside the Pasea hotel, it was expensive n the food was mediocre. I always think it's hilarious seeing HB cops riding horses, they looked so cool, the cops on motorcycles had AK47 strapped on the bike! The crowd has been tame n really behaving, years ago it was rowdy w public drinking n brawling from mostly kids fr the inland empire. That said this yearly event is 5 stars bc if you love watching surfing , this is it! We are the one and only SURF CITY USA.
