My first visit a few months ago went smoothly, but things quickly went downhill after that. My second appointment was canceled after I'd already checked in, due to "complications with a patient." No big deal and hoped for the best for the patient in the room -- I rescheduled. On my third attempt, they claimed my appointment was canceled because of a text message I never received. Annoyed but still patient, I booked a fourth appointment and asked if my co-pay could be waived, considering the time I'd wasted. The front desk said they'd speak to a manager and get back to me. I never got a call. To add to the chaos, I also scheduled an appointment for my wife. When I tried to confirm it, they had no record of her in the system. After rescheduling her appointment too, I received a text two days before my next visit, claiming my appointment was a day earlier than agreed. I corrected them via text, and they acknowledged it. Then, on the morning of the actual appointment, I got an email saying I missed it! When I called to explain, the staff showed no empathy or accountability. After wasting hours of my time by taking off work and heading to their office and dealing with multiple communication failures, I decided to walk away -- and canceled my wife's appointment as well. I have had a great experience with Tend down the street.

The website reflects well the vibe of the office -- and the office is beyond any expectations I've ever had for a dentist. The entire place is impeccable clean, well-organized and, despite being on the basement level, bright. To top it all off, additional amenities like back massagers and ceiling-mounted TVs are available while you're in the chair. But really, the best part is the staff. Every single person I interacted with at the office was kind, courteous, and transparent about what was going on at all times. When I first met Dr. S, I was struck at just how personable she was. In a time where healthcare can feel hasty and cold, Dr. S stands out as a practitioner who is truly interested in her patients and will take the time to have a meaningful interaction with you. The QPD has it all, I am glad I'm able to see an specialist and also get regular cleanings. I'm happy with how the entire staff handles transparent communication with fees and recommendations. They offer payment plants and advice on how to proceed with whatever it is you need done. They will also contact your insurance for estimates. The offices are spotless, bright, and filled with natural plants that make going to the dentist less stressful due to the environment. I was able to enjoy the massage chair during my visits & even got to pick what I wanted to watch on the TV to distract myself from what I needed done. The experience is worth the price. Dr. Liss and everyone at Upper East Smiles provide such a warm, reassuring environment. I was so…read morenervous about my gum graft surgery (which required tissue from both sides of my palate to thicken tissue under 5 teeth). I compared so many options in NYC, and even other states and outside the US. Two weeks after my gum graft, I feel confident that I made the best choice. I knew beforehand that the surgery wouldn't be covered by insurance, and truth be told, it wasn't cheap--but it was worth every penny for this level of care. The entire time, I knew I was in good hands. There was the option to watch Netflix or other platforms before and during the procedure, though in the end I switched to just music. (You can even choose the music if you want.) I'm so grateful to Dr. Liss, who really rooted me on and made me feel seen and cared for, and even called me that evening to see how I was feeling. I'm told this is probably the only graft I'll need, and it sounds like this investment will enable me to keep my lower front teeth another 40 years. If I need any other procedures in the future, it'll be a relief to know I can go back to Upper East Smiles. (I rarely write reviews, but the reviews made a big difference in helping me figure out where to go--I hope this review helps someone in a similar situation.)
