Board and brew is my favorite sandwich place around. And this is my favorite location. The staff is always friendly and they always get my order right and it's done well. I usually get "brew style" lettuce wraps and it can get pretty complicated (and messy) but they do it great! Alternatively they have spinach and gluten free wraps along with their regular bread option. My favorite is their baja beef with lettuce, tomato, and avo but I love the California delight with cream cheese and sunflower seeds, or their Italian. It was summer in the middle of May 1987 I was 16 years old with a 1965 mustang I got my first surfboard my dad made me I drove down to moonlight Beach to go for a first time alone surf sesh. I went for about I'd say 45 minutes it was kind of sketchy because it was my first time by myself...quickly peeled off my wetsuit rang it out and put it in the trunk jumped in the car and pulled out of my favorite dirt lot on the beach...I remember it being a warm day but the water was really cold. So I drove up to the signal light there on 101 and Encinitas boulevard I made a right hand turn and then a left hand turn into a little shopping area and pulled into a little parking spot that overlooked moonlight. In my rearview mirror I saw a sign and there was a really good looking guy standing outside sweeping the patio... it was a deli and it said moonlight board and brew...I jumped out of the car I ran over there and asked the guy if I was allowed in cause there was a chalk board with a picture of a beer on it... He grinned and said come on in... I ordered myself a California delight with no onions and it was the best sandwich I had ever had and it's been my favorite sandwich ever since I was 16 years old! One of my favorite memories:) and when they closed it down I was bummed! I found out they moved to Del Mar which was a little out of my way but anytime I went south to go surfing I definitely would make a pit stop at my favorite sandwich shop!! Didn't feel the same but the food was:) Anyway that's my story about Board and Brew it's been my favorite for almost 33 years now! We've tried board and brew twice and both times were incredibly disappointing. The first time we got French dips. The aus was excellent the sandwich itself was not. The beef was incredibly dry, there was next to no cheese, and the bread lacked flavor. Managed to eat about a quarter of it before giving up and throwing it away. Thinking this was a one off bad experience we ordered two turkey sandwiches. The turkey was good but there wasn't much of it. The bacon was bad, it definitely sat in the fridge for a significant amount of time before making it on to our sandwiches. Worst of all the bread was so stale our sandwiches were not edible. read more

Best sandwich shop ever! I come here on the reg cause the staff is awesome and the food is so amazing ! My goal is to try everything on the menu but my fave is the Italian! Today I got a Cesar salad as a wrap. I love their beer selection and the kombucha they feature. They told me they will be having a special Thursday for $4 kombucha during a select time ( in the near future so check back)And they will have a new brew especially for it so I'm looking forward to that. Really enjoyed this visit. I've gone to other locations and sandwiches weren't anything to write about. I had the chicken club which is a warm sandwich in sub format. Ate some with dipping sauce but good without it too. I would go back for this sandwich. Family member ordered the Turkado and they really liked this too. It's a cold sandwich with classic sliced bread form. I'm sure it was good but I'd rather stick to the warm sandwiches personally. read more

These guys are so racist my family and I came in and we ordered sandwiches and we waited 15 min just to watch them sever all the Hispanic families who came after us. When we asked why they are serving other people first they told us to calm down and to stop complaining. They also rushed our food when they actually got around to it and threw it on the counter and didn't even say have a good day, they just turned there backs. So my family and I just left the food on the counter and left to go eat somewhere else. They clearly don't like Americans and I wouldn't trust them feeding my kids. read more

If you like carbs, this is the place! I get the same thing every time, (Turkey) sometimes I get it toasted! The secret sauce is off the charts, I don't even want to know what's in it, probably a ton of sugar, some ketchup, apple cider vinegar, some other magical ingredients...it is so good, I ask for extra and take it home to put on other things. My wife was starving, so it was my idea of stopping here for quick bit, since I got the latest yelp email today with raving reviews and to our chagrin, it was not up to our standards. I had the turkado and my Linda had the tuna thing and was disappointed with the configuration. You received a standard pc of cheese and slice of turkey with some sprouts/tomato with two pcs. of white bread. The plus side, the top down folks are doing a great job hiring some quality peeps!! Board and Brew is one of my favorite lunch spots in San Diego county, and this definitely includes the Oceanside location. I've probably been here about ten times, and I always order the same thing. The California delight with no mayo, and it never disappoints. The service here is pretty good as well and the staff is super chill and friendly. They also have a bar inside (with some seats to it outside) that always has a variety of beers. Something for every beer drinker. My eyes were reviewing the sandwich board on my left. Those look like healthier options. And that's really what I need. So of course I ordered off the board on the right. Which look like a nice break from all that healthy food I've been eating or well imagine I've been eating. I ordered two of the beef sandwiches. The person taking the order was very familiar with the content and was able to answer my question so I knew what to expect. It was a perfect sandwich. We both liked it. They have just the right number of sandwiches. Not so many that I might take an hour to figure it out. But a lot of sandwiches I want to come back for. I had a beer while I waited for my to go order. I am always in search of a well made pastrami hoagie and I have consumed offerings from a wide variety of establishments in San Diego, Riverside, and Orange County. In my opinion, Board and Brew makes the runaway grand prize winner. I am not usually short on words but this review will be kept short because my personal lexicon lacks the capacity required to do justice to the pastrami hoagie offered by Board and Brew. It's a tab bit costlier than most but well worth the premium. I'm hooked. Tell me if you can find a better one. I'll be waiting. Customer service has room for growth. Sandwiches are always huge & so are the smiles. This location treats us awesome and when me and my guy bring our pup with us they immediately ask if we want water for the pup and greet our furchild like she's one of their customers. It's too cute. Beer selection is awesome & happy hour is a great option with a couple of bucks off beers. While we usually sit outside, we love the environment and cleanliness of the store as well. What can I say that hasn't already been said about Board and Brew? Sandwiches are bomb, the staff is great, and the sauce man. Always lost in the sauce. Oceanside probably has to be my favorite Board & Brew location! The staff is really down to Earth and they're really cool to talk to. They're also really patient when I stand at the menu for what feels like forever before ordering. I usually get the Californian(?) It comes with turkey, sprouts, cream cheese?? siigggghhhhh. It makes me want lunch.... right about now. I'm pretty sure it's okay that I've had a dream about that sandwich. Haven't tried any of the beers yet but I'll be back with friends to try them out. Bottom line, Board & Brew is fantastic. They've also got this secret sauce that I would like a whole bottle of for my home use. HAIR IN FOOD!!! POST #2 I did a review the other day but I guess it was deleted so here I am again. On October 18th 2023 I ordered the sub o tuna. I went home and unwrapped my sandwich only to find a long string of black hair in my sandwich. I was totally disgusted. I pulled on it to make sure I was actually seeing hair and yes, a long string of black hair in my sandwich. I immediately went back to return my sandwich. I was issued a refund for both sandwiches, no problem. However, as I scanned the kitchen to see how this could've happened I noticed that all the men in the kitchen had short hair and hats on but the young lady packaging the sandwiches had long hair with no hat or hair net. It was obvious to me that that's how the hair got in my food. It was shocking to see that the manager took no initiative to figure out how this happened. Instead he ignored and the young lady remained in the kitchen packing other people sandwiches with no hair net on. I don't think this was the first time but hopefully it will be the last. As good as there sandwiches are I will not be back. I can't help but think what if I had bitten into the sandwich. I would have thrown up. I bringing this to yall attention because I wouldn't want this to happen to anyone else. Hair nets should be mandatory even for the the cooks because hats don't always do the job. Stopped in for a quick and casual Sunday dinner. Ordered a Baja chicken sandwich and the gf ordered the turkey avocado sandwich. The Baja chicken was definitely the move. Zesty, flavorful, and a touch of heat. Bread was good quality as well. The orange sauce they give you is super good too. Gfs sandwich was good as well. Lots of avocado which is always appreciated. Sandwiches are big and well worth the $8-$10 price tag. Good craft beer selection as well. Sad to say that Board and Brew has officially plummeted in quality. In the past, board and brew has been a staple and I have frequented the bressi ranch, Carlsbad and Oceanside locations. Most recently I have been visiting the Oceanside location primarily. Unfortunately, they have messed up my last 3 orders. I didn't call the first two times but today I did. I added chicken on my sons quesadilla, avocado and bacon my salad and paid extra for all of them- none of them were added. I also asked for no Mayo and got it on my husbands sandwich. The chicken that was on my salad was hard and almost rubbery which is not what I'm used to from B&B. Very disappointed and now at a point where I will not be coming in or ordering online anymore. The last two times were even worse but I was thinking they were one offs, I was wrong. read more

The staff is always friendly and the ceasar salad is always yummy. When it's a little warmer, I like sitting in the outdoor section. The only issue I've ever had is sometimes the avocado is brown, the other day it was almost completely brown so I couldn't eat it. When avocados are brown like that they don't taste good. Great food as with most board and brew spots but wasn't thrilled with the service when sitting at the bar. I came for a few beers before ordering to go, they have a younger staff and the bar area was often unattended. This left me with empty beers for 5-10 minutes at a time while the staff mingled by the cashier station and chatted. Seems like a solid group of people but they need better leadership. read more
