Sometimes you just want a good sit down type of breakfast! So I ended up at Grandma's Restaurant! Got the corned beef hash & eggs. Asked for the hash browns to be extra crispy. The portion was good enough for me to make it two meals, since I usually don't splurge too much on breakfast. Definitely would come back to try the other items on the menu! Came in for pie and coffee because most non-corporate restaurants offer pie...unfortunately, there were only two fruit options...and neither were good. (and no ice cream to help with the dryness). Pros: Foodserver is very nice, funny, happy, works HARD and takes an accurate order. Food is aesthetically pleasing. Bathroom was clean. Cook makes food EXACTLY how ordered. Cons: Steak was COMPLETELY inedible. Usually I am cursed with the gristlely steak. This was my boyfriend's turn. I have NEVER seen him have to spit bites out into his napkin before. He could not find one edible bite, sadly. (Steak and eggs.) My pancake sandwich had no flavor. Pancakes were blah. I didn't even take the leftover home. And I generally LOVE pancakes. We were never checked on, (server was working alone and busy, so I understand.) Indifferent: We didn't notice anything scream 'Grandma'. Unclear of the name. Seems to have a good patronage. Especially from Veterans visiting the VA. Ammends: When Server brought the bill, he inquired about the meals. I politely mentioned the inedible steak. He kindly removed $10 off the bill. Great food amazing service. Very kid friendly and make cool versions of the food to peak their interest. Potatos are fresh not frozen bulk stuff from Sysco or US Foods. And the coffee can be drank black because it actually has flavor and isn't super acidic. read more

I have been coming here since I was a kid. My mom and nana would always get the open face sandwich. That was quite some time ago, but even though they have changed locations the quality of food is still top tier. Great home cooking. I like to come here when I am missing my nana and want a bit of nostalgia. Service has always been great and staff is always friendly. Cute place to take your family for a nice meal. read more

The bacon cheeseburger w/onion rings were really good. The restaurant has been there for 45 years! My dining partners had the breaded tenderloin. They loved it and they are from the Midwest, where the tenderloin was born. The service is very kind and attentive. The inside is old diner style. We will be back. read more

My husband and I stopped in here for breakfast while visiting the area. It is a small little place that has indoor and outdoor seating. We got greeted right when we walked in. Our server was super friendly. It has a small town friendly feeling to it. We ordered the spinach surprise omelette and the vegetarian omelette. Our omelettes came with potatoes and toast. They let me substitute a pancake for my toast. There was a lot of food and the prices were very reasonable. All of the food came out hot and fresh and very tasty. This place is a hidden gem! I only found them when I visited one of the establishments next door. I tried their veggie omelette, which was delicious. My husband had the Chinese chicken salad and he devoured it. Service was quick. Place was pretty busy when we went. All in all, I would say this is a pretty solid spot for breakfast or lunch. read more

The food was good but nothing special. I had a burger that was cooked well but lacked flavor, and my mother had pork chops that were tasty but a bit overdone and tough. We arrived around 1:30, and the restaurant was nearly empty. Unfortunately, the staff's conversations were quite loud, which made it difficult to enjoy the atmosphere. While it wasn't the most pleasant dining experience for us, I might consider giving it another try in the future if some improvements are made. read more

Hit this place on a Sunday morning. Servers are on top of things, good service and ready with more coffee at all times. I ordered biscuits and sausage gravy with sunny side up eggs. Food came out in a timely manner. My only gripe is the sausage gravy was lacking on the bits of sausage and wasn't big on that aspect of flavor. I sat up at the counter and was happy to see they were broadcasting soccer on a tv. I liked this place, a wide variety of patrons and a nice positive vibe. read more

We had the best lunch today! We came to this restaurant for the pork tenderloin sandwich (Midwest specialty) and my SO said it was the best version he had locally (he was born and raised a Midwestern). Only diff, according to him, was instead of using a special machine to flatten it into a large circle, it was butterfly cut into more of an oblong. But the thickness and taste were spot on. I had the garlic burger and house made chips. This burger was borderline gourmet. Whoever is cooking absolutely knows his stuff. Perfect burger to bun ratio. The chips were fresh and crunchy. Had to add a little salt but not an issue really. And all the food was very fresh, from the entrees and sides to the condiments. The service was super friendly and prompt, we chatted about the pork tenderloin sandwich a bit. A bit of a drive for us but we'll worth it! read more

Wanted to love this place as it's close to me and I'm a huge breakfast person. Sadly, I left disappointed with the food not meeting high standards despite a high price. My omelet was good but not much bacon despite substituting sausage for more /and at 18.95. Friend chose biscuits and gravy and said it tasted " doughy". It wasn't good. The service was fine, there was outdoor and indoor options, but for the price it just left us unimpressed sorry to say. 25$ plus tip for omelet and cup of regular coffee If an ocean view instead of a parking lot, I might justify some of this but I think menu was too much, too confusing, and nothing that really stood out being special. I'd prefer a couple choices that were really delicious than lots of mediocre. read more

Sold!! We used to go to the breakfast club every now-and-then, until the owner closed shop and moved to Arizona, and since then, we have been looking for a place that offered that home-cooked feel and taste. I had heard and seen of grandma's restaurant, since we also go to Felix's and Big Bob's pizza so it was time to give Grandma's a try with hope this establishment will be our new breakfast and maybe lunch spot when we don't feel like cooking. What a gem!! With all that said, we have officially made this spot our go-to definitely for breakfast. The prices are reasonable, the staff were attentive and friendly, and breakfast for the 4 of us who came was delicious. Food was average. Would've received a 4 if food was decent but the lower rating is because the single ladies bathroom had no toilet paper when I went to wash my hand. Shortly afterwards, a mom and her daughter used the toilet she told the guy that looked like the manager that there was no toilet paper. He thanked her profusely for notifying him of this deficiency. I didn't think anything more of this and ordered and ate my meal. After I paid, I went to use the ladies bathroom and there was still no toilet paper in there. Why bother thanking her profusely for this notification if you aren't going to refill the toilet roll? read more

Established in 1985.

The idea of Grandma's was established in June of 1985 by Richard and Ellen Truelove. In 1987 they partnered up with Grant & Betty Allen. they kept it until selling to Bob & Lita wisely in January of 1994. Grandma's was under the ownership for almost a decade until it's closing down in June of 1999. In August it was re-opened as Grandma BB's by Mark Schulman and his partner Christine Moore. After a few years it was sold to Art and Debbie Coleman in Sept. 2005 and became Grandma's Hilltop Hideaway Cafe. A year later Faustino Hernandez took over in Oct. 2006 and has been there since and hope to bring the same great food and hospitality that everyone has fallen in love with.

Ribeye quality was decent, but again, the char taste covered any meat flavor. Left much to be desired. Unique experience. Would not be back again.
