I hardly ever leave reviews on yelp but I've been to this location a few times when traveling up north to OC. I somehow manage to get the same lady who helps me at the bar when I sit down to enjoy a delicious sandwich and a beer. I was there on Sunday and I believe the nice lady who helped me name was Ashley. I've had the joy having this lady assist me each time I come in. She's always super nice and gets my order down to a T. Upon ordering, I always apologize because I usually need extra sauces or more water and she manages to do everything with a smile and is prompt when asked nicely for more sauces, napkins, and/or drinks. I joke around about my complicated orders with her because she's recognized me from coming in and she'll know my order which is an Italian sub, no ham, sub chicken, no veggies, melted toasted with 2 house sauces and a spicy ranch. I've seen workers roll their eyes or get irritated but not with her. She has made each visit enjoyable each time I am able to stop in for a quick sandwich. Someone who has frequented other locations like PB, Santee, Eastlake; this is some of the best service I have received in many years. I've had other locations get my order wrong but it's quite impressive that that was only my 4th time at this location in the last 6 months and she managed to remember my complicated order. The service she provides goes beyond me as she is very nice and welcoming to each customer. If she's at the bar, she's very efficient with getting drinks for people who ordered them and has her eye for individuals wanting another pint and very quick to assist waiting customers. I am hoping in the future when I return she is working because I've enjoyed my experiences the Oceanside locations compared to other locations. I have reviews for some of their other locations, but I just had to drop one for this location- it's close by so we usually end up popping in here for a treat when we're hungry. If you're not familiar with the menu, then allow me to assist. If you like roast beef, you need to get the Roast Beef Spicy. If you're not a fan of spice, just request the jalapeños on the side. Every bite needs to be dunked in the au jus, then topped with a bit of their house Board and Brew sauce. Holy moley, there's little else better on this planet than that combo. Honorable mention goes out to Turkado and the Tub O' Tuna, but you really need to get the Roast Beef Spicy (or not spicy) and thank me later for the recommendation. read more

It makes for a quick and easy experience when you're busy. I set my order to be picked up at 1:15pm and it was ready and waiting by the time I arrived. I've been to multiple board and brews around the area and this is the by far the worst one. I found a piece of metal or staple in my sand which. I bit in to it causing my lip to get cut. I'm not even sure how to react. The sauce was also terrible. I will add a picture to see what was in my sandwich. Just dropped by for a quick sando to bring home. Ordered the left coast pastrami. Order came out fast and was still warm when I got home. It had a nice amount of pastrami, mustard , grilled onions, Pepperoncini swiss cheese on a French baguette.Also asked for a side of au jus. Sandwich was tasty and filling. We had three dogs with us so a sit down restaurant wasn't really an option so we figured we would give one of San Diego's popular sandwich chains a shot and check out Board & Brew. My fiancée ran in to order our subs and within minutes she was out with not only a Baja Chicken Sandwich for me, but also a warm chocolate chip cookie which I ate first since I'm a toddler. The chocolate chip cookie was fine, but nothing to really crave in the future. The Baja chicken sandwich's description has Marinated, Antibiotic-free Chicken Breast, Grilled Onions, Jalapeño Peppers & Melted Jack Cheese on a toasted French Baguette. Includes Mayo, Tomato & Lettuce (yes, I copy and pasted that). I'm gonna be blunt here, this sandwich was okay and nothing more. The taste was fine, the size was fine, the entire experience was just fine. I put this place on the same level as a chain like Port of Subs and nothing more. Overall, Board & Brew is a fine place to stop for a quick sub and to be on your way. I didn't dislike anything about this place, but I also don't remember anything positive enough to want to actually come back if I'm back in the area. Solid, dependable, and fast is how'd I describe Board and Brew. You're not getting mind-blowing sandwiches, but it will scratch that deli sandwich itch. We always get the Turknado and Tom's Choice. Taste wise, it reminds me of a better Subway--I think it's the shredded lettuce? Eventually, you'll get a hankering for their sweet sauce, (which I think is French dressing) that will have you coming back. Yet to try the beer as I'm always driving to pickup. I got to get some to go next time! Service is generally nice and friendly, mostly young kids. Ambiance is fine, considering it's a chain in a strip mall near Target. My excuses for not going to the Carlsbad location more often are: parking sucks and the store is tiny and always crowded. Well, those aren't valid complaints anymore as this location is bigger, with a huge parking lot. And, Covid makes the size of the dining room not matter since we can't eat in anyways. I always get the Baja Beef. You know a sandwich is "that good" for me to pay 14 bucks and change for it, over and over again. I also love the red potato salad- it's something I could easily make, but then I'd end up with a huge batch that I'd polish by myself. The little tub is perfect here. Someday I will try the Baja Chicken and the Left Coast Pastrami, but until I get tired, I'm all about the marinated grass-fed steak, grilled onions, fresh jalapeños and melty jack cheese in the Baja Beef. Anna this server told me she will ask one of the chef's to make me a new Turkey Deluxe Sandwich because Allya , (manager) at Board and Brew Restaurant wants me to eat a (Fresh Turkey Deluxe Sandwich) at NO CHARGE. I talked to (2 different married couples who eat at this restaurant on a frequent basis. One customer his name is (Casey was with his wife Laura). Casey told me yesterday, one day (him and his wife Laura) went to eat at the Board and Brew Restaurant that was (two weeks ago). Casey told Aliya the manager that he doesn't have any money to pay for their (sandwiches and their beer) because he forgot his credit card. Aliya is an (amazing person) because she told (Casey and his wife Laura) to (go ahead) and order (their specific Sandwiches and Beer they prefer) to have for lunch that day. Then Aliya told (Casey and his wife Laura), IT'S ON THE HOUSE. Aliya said Board and Brew Restaurant will (pay for their lunch) AT NO CHARGE. George said he really enjoys working for Aliya who is very organized and has 10 years of experience in the Customer Service Industry. Everything, I ate today was very delicious! The Turkey Deluxe Sandwich was HUGE. The veggies included (shredded lettuce, tomatoes, melted cheddar cheese and their special Sweet & Sour House Dressing) in this Turkey Deluxe Sandwich was very healthy. The House Potato Salad was made with (red skinned potatoes) with the (perfect amount of mustard and mayo). It's very flavorful. My dessert was One Chocolate Chip Cookie the size was smaller but the taste was still good. Jackie this server came by my table and told me she is going to wipe down my table again with disinfectant spray due to the Covid-19 Virus and she wants to keep me safe. I sat outside in the (front of the restaurant) and to eat my food order. It was really windy sitting outside. I was eating and talking to this other married couple for (2 hours). I left this restaurant at 4 p. m. The weather started to get really cold. The next time, I go to this Oceanside Location I will sit at the (Side Tables) where they have heaters that are turned on all the time outside to keep their customers at a comfortable temperature. Aliya the manager came outside and talked to me for (15 minutes), since I was a (new customer) and it was the (first time) I have been to their restaurant. Aliya was very (personable and friendly) to me. Aliya told me she gives their customers the (Best Customer Service). Aliya is right, she did give me (amazing customer service) this afternoon. Board and Brew Restaurant was very busy today with a lot of customers walking into their restaurant to pick up their online orders to take home. There were only (2 men customers) sitting at the bar wearing their (face masks) and they were not talking to each other. Then there was me and (10 customers) sitting outside their restaurant eating sandwiches and enjoying their beer. Social Distancing was enforced and wearing Masks are required all the time at Board and Brew Restaurant. I highly recommend Board and Brew Restaurant. Went here on a whim (not a local and was working in the area), delightfully surprised! I got the Cobb Salad and a Passion fruit tea. This was easily the best salad I've had in a while!!! The grilled chicken was perfectly cooked, the bacon was crispy, and everything was fresh! And don't sleep on their house made ranch which was incredible! Good but not great! In order to earn the five star review, the bread must be outstanding, meats must be of the highest quality or tasty and the spread must stand out. I ordered the turkey club and although it was good, it was not great. The bread did not stand out, meat was somewhat skimpy and I do not remember the spread. People in my family love this place but I have had much better. Hell, put some more turkey and bacon on the sandwich and we might have flirted with the idea of 5 stars. That in itself might have made the bread taste better and me remember the spread. Perhaps I should have drank several brews and that would have had a better outcome for the sandwich. I do love the food here, and my BF loves it too. We frequently order here. The quality is on point, and they're generally pretty quick. We only ever order takeout, so I can't speak to their beers but the food quality is great. I appreciate that the salads aren't just the "bad" parts of the lettuce, and I actually get quality romaine in my salad. However, until recently, we were always able to call in our takeout orders, which was a HUGE plus. Now that they have an app, when we call we get told we have to order on the app, which I wouldn't mind at all, except the two times I've been forced to order through the app it didn't work. The first time, I got a order number, and paid, and it was sent to the right location, but they never got the order and I ended up having to basically wait like I ordered it when I had just walked in to pick it up. The second time, paid, got an order number, selected the time, and when I went to pick it up i noticed that the app showed it was ordered for the next day. Tables are also available outside if you want to enjoy your sandwich under the sun. SERVICE: Service is good! Food comes fast and the staff was friendly - pretty much all you can ask! FOOD/DRINK: Chicken Club: Delicious sandwich! The chicken breast is juicy and marinated well. The bacon was crispy and added extra savory flavor and texture to the overall sandwich. The cheese was nice and gooey, while the tomato and lettuce balances the sandwich out with freshness. They didn't go too hard on the mayo, which I appreciated - just enough to have the taste! Sauce: Their signature sauce is definitely unique - I haven't quite tasted anything like it. It is a little sweeter than I expected - but it also has notes of tanginess and complements the sandwich fairly well. Have tried board and brew several months or more than a year before in Carlsbad, ever since I wanted to try this place, but realized this was no where in the south Bay Area. So when we decided to go on a trip to Encinitas for couple of days, this was on top of our list. That much we liked it last time in Carlsbad. So about this location now. There is plenty of parking, the outside it looks good and lots of seats inside too. There is a breakfast bar type setup as well, where people can sit outside facing inside. The restroom are in the rear and they were not clean. The service is excellent and the entire staff are very willing to help and answer questions. My wife and myself weren't too hungry so we decided to try one sandwich and share it. We went with the veggie supreme and it tasted amazing as usual. The bread and all the ingredients that they use are pretty fresh and delicious. The sauces given add a kick to it as well. I also bought the chips but $2.00 for a small bag of chips is a rip off and it has been the case in any subs shop for that matter. It's usually always packed and you can wait for a while but it's well worth it. Staff is always very friendly and accommodating. They gave us an overstuffed tuna sandwich instead, which unfortunately my son couldn't eat. My husband and I can't have it either. The receipt on the bag was correct showing that we did order a turkey sandwich. We live about 15-20 minutes away, so driving back on a school night wasn't really going to happen. My sister ordered the Italian sub and the Tub O Tuna to take some home. I preferred the Turkey Delight sandwich over the tuna sandwich as it was more refreshing and didn't taste as heavy. However, if you like tuna, their tuna sandwich will be satisfying. Their Italian sub was also good. Fair pricing for what you get here too.
