Asked if they would sell me some of their croutons Bc of course they are house made and delicious. They don't sell them but gave me a healthy side of it to go. I keep looking for a great sandwich place near Carlsbad. Still looking. My order included a Turkado sandwich, described as "Turkey Breast & Jack Cheese topped with Avocado served on Sourdough Bread. Includes Mayo, Onion, Tomato & Lettuce." A member of my household can't eat onions. I ordered a Turkado with no onions. The problem is that the so-called "avocado" topping is not avocado at all but an avocado-based spread that contains lots of onions. Straight to the garbage bin after one bite. The onion-infested green spread had tainted the meat so that it couldn't even be picked out and eaten separately. My sandwich (an Italian) was OK, but the bread was mediocre at best. I don't often getting to eat at sandwich places because I have celiac and there are rarely enough gluten free options, but this place is pretty descent with the gluten free wrap. Since they offer a gluten free option, I'd like to see the staff a little more knowledgeable about they gluten free offerings but I was able to work through it with them and they were very nice. The food is fairly good and the service is quick. I also find the prices to be reasonable for what you're getting. It's satisfactory as a place I can grab lunch and I always appreciate a new place to eat. If they beef up their knowledge on the rest of the gluten free ingredients it would be easy to come in an order but overall I'll be back. read more

The lunch meat itself is generously portioned and as fresh as can be. The bread is amazing, nice and soft just how I like it. The only complaint which isn't worth a deduction in stars is the cost. It's definitely a much higher price than other sandwich spots so I don't go very often. But when I do, I'm always impressed. Staff is friendly and helpful and the seating is plentiful. Literally the most epic sandwich place San Diego has to offer. I think I've tried almost every sandwich but if you need a go-to, the Baja chicken is insatiable. Perfectly spiced with jalapeños and plenty of chicken. The spice pairs perfectly with their secret sweet and sour sauce. Always my favorite sandwich place when board & brew is nearby. It's a great place to hit up, when I take my out of town relatives out to local hot spots. I don't know how they do it, but that secret sauce is FIRE. Hubs gets there at 1:05 and proceeds to wait till 1:30 for food. Arrived 15 min after confirmed pick up time and food still wasn't ready. Issue brushed off and ignored. I've been to the restaurant before and always get sandwiches, never the salads. I was excited to try one yesterday. It was great lots of cheese and chicken and a good price. It didn't take long to bring out which was nice! My only compliant was that it was pretty packed and there seemed to be little kids everywhere! It seemed like a Soccer Team was there which is fine but it's a tight space. I had to sit outside where they ended up running around and making a lot of noise. Several years ago, I gave this location one star because it had such poor service that it necessitated a low grade. Today, however, they really have turned things around. We are considered "regulars" here now and they even know me and my kiddo by name. They are always kind and patient with my overzealous 10-year-old who thinks all the employees are her bffs! That said, we do have one complaint/observation. You need to STOP giving out sauce with each sandwich. We see the staff working tirelessly to fill each and every plastic cup only to know many people (like us) don't use the sauce (at least not on the cold sandwiches) and it gets chucked. I'm sure we aren't the only ones. This is such a huge waste of time and resources, and it has an environmental impact as well. Sure, the sauce is good and it is one of the staples of the establishment. But I think it would save money, time, and reduce the waste if you made it a policy to simply ask customers if they'd like a sauce or not. It's an easy fix that will have a major impact on the bottom line and the planet. Plus, it will make you guys appear like you are forward thinking and care about the environment. Will a handful of weirdos get annoyed at this? Of course. But they will be the odd outliers and can deal with it. Just hang a sign and make sure the staff sticks to the script. People will see you are making a positive change. It's a win-win! I really hope management takes this recommendation into consideration. :) read more

I'm obsessed with sandwiches and board and brew has great one. The California delight always hits the spot. Cream cheese and sandwiches with sunflower seeds on a sandwich is different but it really works. I will always recommend California delight if you're on the fence and not sure whah to order. I get red onions in mine and it's so creamy, crunchy and tangy. I could eat here a couple times per week because of the different sandwiches. The turkado is another good one. Great sandwiches, but... There is plenty of opportunity to work on customer service. I've been in this location a handful of times since 1) It's not too far from work so that I can run and grab a bite and 2) I really enjoy the sandwiches. I picked up a sandwich today I ordered online. Paid for Avocado ($2.00) and in the comments I requested "avocado and mayo on the side please." When I picked it up I didn't see anything in the bag but the special sauce on the side however my order ticket was stapled on the paper bag with "ADD Avocado" marked (see photo). I figured they forgot to put it on the side and just slapped it on my sandwich. It was already busy with a line as it's lunch time and I didn't find it a huge deal nor did I have the time to wait since I only have 30 mins to eat. I get back and open it up to find no mayo or avocado at all on my sandwich. I was a bit disappointed because of the upcharge I paid for and that it was clearly on my order ticket (and marked.). THE ISSUE here wasn't the missing condiments, however, it was the customer service I received over the phone. Like I've said previously, I've been in here a handful of times and what I have noticed (which was not a huge deal until now) is the the counter team just always appeared so thrilled (I'm being sarcastic!) to be there. I was taken back when I called in just letting this particular gentleman know that they had missed my avocado and mayo. He offered to get a side for me however I informed him I was unable to since I don't have the time to return back since I'm on my lunch break but just wanted to let them know about the mistake. It's really meant for an FYI so they can inform the kitchen to be more on top of their tickets (I've worked in the restaurant industry for years throughout college/Nursing School). I originally didn't care about any refund until he asked "ok so what do you want me to do about it?" in a tone that honestly caught me off guard and ticked me off. I responded with "I'm sorry?" And he repeated what he said . So I then said I wanted a refund for my avocado ($2.00) and he connected me to his Mgr on duty. Manager, Dani (spelling?), was professional as can be and swiftly processed my refund. I informed her of my disappointment in this gentleman's customer service. She said she'd pass it along to her GM. I'm not here to get anyone in trouble. Look, we all have shitty days, and I get that. I also get being a young kid in college working my way through this so called life. I'm just here to let the owners know that there is plenty of opportunity to work with the team on customer service. I could very well just make my own sandwiches at home and not spend nearly $20 on a meal for myself (nearly $20 because I left a 20% tip!) 1st time to this location; been to the great Carlsbad village location several times. Same great food here with a nice spacious outdoor patio area to take in the cooling breeze happening there today (AC was nice inside too). Staff was super courteous and helpful. They have to pour the drinks from the soft drink area because of Covid and even so, I got just the right amount of ice I asked for. Had the California Delight sandwich on squaw bread; my favorite! Bread's not sweet as it I've found it to be at other sandwich places. Cream cheese, sunflower seeds, sprouts, lettuce, turkey a little mayo and I poured some of their sandwich sauce over the veggies. the thirteen-year-old and i went for lunch. he had a LENINADE (his Ike's Love and Sandwiches favorite) and a TURKADO (turkey breast, jack cheese, avocado, mayo, onions, tomato -- hold the lettuce). he ordered his on a French baguette (really just a spongy sub roll) eschewing his usual​ favorites​: squaw bread or lightly-toasted sourdough. i found it interesting that (at least for our visit) the front of the house was all young men and the back of the house was all young women. in the Carlsbad BOARD & BREWs it's reversed. i'm not willing to draw any meaningful​ conclusions from the observation -- just saying. BOARD & BREW's a solid sandwich place. this one has a more sterile, corporate feel than the two locations in Carlsbad with their funky, laid-back, beachy vibe. the eats are still good but this is a place to squeeze in a soft drink and a quick lunch before you hustle back to the soul-crushing, 9-to-5 of your cubicle. i'm partial to the ambiance of the one on Oak Street in Carlsbad where i can have a leisurely​ beer on the patio and watch the world go by or, better yet, stop by in the evening for the sunset​. read more
