I've been to Board & Brew many times, and I usually go to the Pacific Beach location because it's right by the beach and the perfect place to grab a sandwich. This time, I was craving one and decided to stop by the UTC location. One thing I absolutely love about Board & Brew is their signature sauce. There's just something about it, it's tangy, flavorful, and honestly one of my favorite sandwich sauces. I came here with a friend who had been wanting to try Board & Brew since it's a San Diego-based chain, and she really enjoyed it too. The ordering process is simple. You walk in, look over the menu, and choose between their hot or cold sandwiches. My go-to is always the Turkey Club. The bread is so soft, and I love the classic combination of turkey and bacon. The sandwiches are usually around $12-13, which I think is a fair price considering how big they are. One sandwich is definitely enough to fill one person up. I always ask for extra sauce, and this location was super generous with it, which I really appreciated since some other locations charge for extras. This restaurant is a bit smaller than some of the other Board & Brew locations I've visited, but it still had a great atmosphere. The staff were friendly, the service was fast, the restroom was clean, and because it's inside the mall, the environment feels lively and energetic. I was pleasantly surprised to find a Board and Brew at UTC! The one in Oceanside is my favorite, so I had to eat here. The staff was very friendly and greeted us when we walked in. I already knew what I wanted: the California Delight! It's my go to. If you haven't tried it, you have to. It has turkey breast, cream cheese, and sunflower seeds on squaw bread. The GF wrap didn't have much flavor was kind of boring but the filling made up for it. It's been a while since I've visited a Board & Brew location, but I came by this one in the UTC mall yesterday with my brother. I had a Turkey club and it was pretty solid--everything tasted fresh and there was a reasonable amount of meat. The secret sauce they give on the side kind of reminds me of a tangier, thinner-bodied In-N-Out spread. Wait time wasn't bad, although the store was busy, and it was also fairly clean inside. Overall a decent spot for a decent sandwich, but nothing to shout about necessarily. Update: Came back with the family today, had a decent experience. I got a Cobb salad and it was pretty tasty! Came with a low-cal spicy ranch. Not really that "spicy" for me, but it was pretty large and hearty, and they gave a good amount of chicken. The potato salad was also really good for a chain restaurant. It had dill in it and quite a lot of flavor. read more

I had ordered a tuna sub, not a turkey. Good thing I had opened the sub before walking too far. Even though the label on the sub said tuna, there was turkey inside. I explained this to one of the workers at the front and showed my receipt and the sub. He was super rude about it and clearly did not care, which you don't have to show customers. I was skeptical to try this location due to the reviews . I was in the area yesterday so decided to drop by to order a quick sandwich . Their online order system was either down or doesn't exist for this UTC location that day . Easiest to park by the parking closest to Batch & Batch and Pacific Catch. Store wasn't too busy that late afternoon . No line to order and two staff working behind the counter . No one noticed me as they were speaking to each other so I finally said hello to get help . The guy was fine but not as welcoming as other locations. My turkado was made quickly and came with one secret sauce. Make sure to check you bag as it seems to only come with one sauce per sandwich. They gave me an extra sauce along with their habanero sauce (you must try the habanero as it seems home made and it's spicy!). Overall , a really good sandwich for the price . So happy we chose this spot because I've seriously missed it! It's a cute place with both indoor and outdoor seating. We went on a Saturday around noon, and while it was definitely busy, we were still able to grab a seat without a wait. The sandwiches? So simple but SO good. Sandwiches are definitely up there when thinking about my favorite foods- especially in terms of lunches. Now being based in San Diego, everyone and their mom is a Board & Brew fan. While I've given them a handful of tries, they always miss the mark and this time was no different. I went with their Italian Sub which features all the classic fillings on a French baguette. It was a fine sandwich. Just fine. There was nothing really bad about it, but there was also nothing really great about it. I always feel like their sandwiches are just missing a little something something. This might be criminal to some, but I'm also not a fan of their sauce. It's way too sweet for me. Will also note that I don't love their bread- it's a bit too thick and overwhelms the sandwich. What I do love about Board & Brew is their team. Staff was very friendly bussing / checking in on us. Other staff essentially threw cookies at our table...again, nice gesture, but a bit odd to physically throw cookies onto customers' tables. Can't believe I haven't made a review yet for board and brew! Discovered the del mar location in my second year of college and now have been going consistently ever since even after graduating now too. I've tried pretty much everything on the menu and you really can't go wrong with any sandwhich here. My personal favs though are the italian sub, chicken club, and tom's choice because that one includes roast beef AND turkey. If you want something light, the turkado and veggie supreme would be perfect too! The secret sauce they have on the side is amazing and really pairs well with everything on their menu. A couple times I've been though, this location can get busy during a lunch rush or on weekends. Sometimes I've also tried placing an online order and the location just never receives the order, so just be wary of that as that has happened to me at least like 3 times now. read more
