THE FOOD. - Calamari | Golden crisp, tender squid interior. Nicely done. - Humphreys Gourmet Burger | Juicy patty with all the fixin's. The bacon onion compote and A-1 aioli added some sweetness. Fries were crisp and addicting. THE DRUNK DRINKS. - Dark 'N' Stormy | Sweet with a ginger twist. - Rusty Nail | Surprisingly strong drink! Sipping is the best approach. THE PARKING. We came in for dinner before a play at La Jolla Playhouse. My husband had looked it up and wanted to have the brisket sliders. When we got there It was not what we were expecting at all. They had recently remodeled. It is in the hotel lobby and wide open. There is a big bar counter. No one was there. We were expecting a sports bar type of vibe. The person behind the bar said they did serve food. There were lots of tables. They didn't have the brisket sliders but did have pulled pork sliders so my husband ordered that. They tasted fine but nothing extra special. You do get 3 of them but they do not come with fries or any side. I ordered the roasted beet salad. It was very tasty. Great arugula and dressing. The citrus segments were not juicy at all. Hardly any beets and didn't really have the roasted flavor. Just the two dishes and 1 beer was over 50 dollars. The old Shooters is gone. Remodeled out of existence. Now it is an ordinary restaurant inside the hotel.

Tried this place out 2 nights in a row. First night went up to bar and bartender said have a seat the waitress will be with you. 20 mins of sitting and no service in a dead bar. Live music was a solo guitarist, environment was relaxed. We left after getting no service. Returned on Friday night for karaoke time, bartender said same thing, sit down and waitress will serve you. We got a drink order in for our party of 4 but she seamed upset we didn't order food. After about 45 mins of singing and empty drinks we looked around for service, no bartender or waitress in view. Sang some more songs, seen the waitress and tried to flag her down with no luck. Bar was not busy, maybe 12 people total with our group of 4. After about 15 more minutes of waiting the waitress finally came out and we just closed out. Atmosphere was great, service was slow and undependable. read more

The weekends at Shooters has Karaoke and it is so much fun. There are regulars (locals) that keep this place crowded on Saturdays and Sundays. We are waiting for Shooters to offer Woo's Karaoke again so that we can get back to our Saturday and Sunday singing, dancing, eating and drinking. The minute my I walked in with my dear colleague the environment soothed me after a long day. I was unexpectedly impressed by the art. Afton immediately came over and took our drink order. We had the most amazing artichoke appetizer! I'm San Francisco and I've never had artichokes like this. Then we each had the shrimp risotto - blew our minds away. I like the environment, the location, and the validated parking, but the karaoke DJ left a lot to be desired. The music was so loud that the server, my boyfriend and I had to shout to hear each other. I am not a shy one and am very direct, but the karaoke DJ was so unapproachable, unfriendly-looking and didn't seem open to any suggestions that I asked the server to ask her to turn the music down "because she's kind of scary". And I NEVER ask anyone else to do my dirty work for me. My intuition was dead on because sure enough, later she was openly rude to my friend who will be posting a review here. If you have a job dealing with the public, at least PRETEND that you like people please. The karaoke crowd is great though. I love the crème brûlée here, it's perfectly made and mouth watering to look at! Our server was Sydney who was so attentive and sweet, definitely will be returning just based on the service! We came on a Saturday, which happens to be karaoke night with people singing many fun choices while others danced along to their song. Been here several times and it's a chill and kick back kind of vibe. It's the live music that I really enjoy, especially on Wednesday nights. From 7pm-11pm, you have the very talented duo of David on piano and John on saxophone. Other guests get in on the little jam session as well. Food is good and reasonably priced. Service is good too. nice little bar/lounge with Karaoke on the sunday night we were here. drink prices are not too shabby considering it's a hotel bar. there is an outdoor patio seating area to enjoy a beverage and awesome weather. the lounge inside is very cozy. servers/bartenders were very friendly. even the dude that said that my 4yo daughter couldn't sit AT the bar while i waited to pick up my to go drinks for me and mama. it's ok. my daughter didn't mind watching the singers from knee level. music is for the ears and not the eyes anyway. :) oh, and found out the day we were leaving, but, you can use the house phone at the pool to order drinks! bam! read more

Over the last year my coworkers and I would stop by for one of the best happy hours in the UTC area. Today we stopped by and found out that they have completely changed up the menu and happy hour offerings. Now its garbage. avoid if you can. Used to have veggies with ranch dip, chicken strips, large chips and guac dip.. lots of stuff .. now.. pickles.. that are terrible, wings half the size of before.. no more veggie dip, no strips, The only redeeming factor are the lettuce wraps.. those are still good. read more

The bartender/server who helped me was the sweetest guy. He was very patient and helpful when I asked him a billion questions about the food and drink menus. I ordered a Jamaican Sunset, and he loaded it with alcohol because I told him I didn't like really sweet drinks. I also ordered chicken lettuce wraps and short rib sliders for my boyfriend and I to share and eat at the pool. The bartender made sure to pack everything in plastic containers so we could take it to the pool area. The lettuce wraps were really good and flavorful. The chicken was a bit tough, but not stringy. I still really enjoyed them! The short rib sliders were SUPER good. The meat was soft and juicy, and the flavors were great. They also put a lot of tomatoes and onions, my have-to's for burgers! What a bust! Came here after a looong drive from LA, starved and hunting for the closest and most edible sounding place to eat. Where do we end up? Shooters. Big mistake. To sum it up: -decent food -not great drinks -decent classy bar deco -HORRIBLE SERVICE Is it so hard to go to a restaurant, much less a bar, inside a friggen' hotel, and expect DECENT service? Somebody needs to tell JOSE to take a refesher course in customer service manners. You're a bartender, not a billionaire, realize that and serve your customers as such, without the SNOOTY-TOOTY ATTITUDE. One star for the karaoke host. I went to Shooters for karaoke last Saturday night, thinking that it would be a chill atmosphere. I couldn't have been more wrong...about the karaoke host at least. She was extremely rude. Not one, not two, not three, but four times! Some moments, she blantantly ignored me when I asked her where I was on the queue, other moments were with her words. At one point, she shouted, "What do you want!?" I was completely shocked and said something to the manager. I hope he said something to the karaoke host about her attitude. Being a person who has worked around customers before, that is completely unacceptable. read more

Not only the best but also the friendliest bar in La Jolla which is frequented by locals. Great bar food, drinks, prices and patrons. Live entertainment Weds. (open mike) & Thursday with wonderful John Cain and on Friday with Elliot Lawrence who is dynamite on the guitar and the dude can sing. This is a very sad attempt at adding a bar to the hotel. Went down for a quick bite for dinner and wanted to sit at the bar as I'm flying solo on this business trip. The restaurant is dining room only so you have to cross the lobby to the "bar". Not even sure how to describe it, horseshoe bar with creepy dim lights. Certainly attracts an old locals crowd, every other person in the bar had at least 40 yrs on me..... I'm 30 kids you do the math. I sat in the main dining of the bar and the waitress never came over, so I went to the bar and the guy bartender helped me. I was grateful that he took my table. I used to be a server and bartender and I expect a lot because I know what it means to serve someone. The guy I think was named Scott and the girl was like Mera or something? I've been meaning to write this review for a while now and finally had some time. Having been in the service industry for over 15 years, I can certainly understand that sometimes you can have a bad day, and I usually overlook a waitress that seems to be "not the friendliest". Well at least I overlook the first time. Unfortunately the waitress we had serve us on four separate occasions at Shooters Bar & Grill during our stay in La Jolla was in a foul mood each and every time! We had friends in town for a wedding so we had a nice "stay-cation" at Marriot in La Jolla and so we ate at their restaurant quite a lot. Everyone else was very pleasant and welcoming. Stacy, however, always seemed and appeared frazzled, as if she resented her job. Why work in the service industry if you can't put on a smiling face? It's your job! To our dismay she also tended bar on occasion, and didn't fare much better in that role either! She even corrected my husband when he made what she thought to be the wrong use of a word, and got very offended when he politely corrected her (he was right). Just sort of ruined our dining experiences in this spot, and my suggestion Stacy is if you don't like your job then you might want to consider retiring. read more

Nice little bar next the hotel. I like how casual it is and you can just stroll up to an open seat at the bar after going for a nice dip in the pool. Good selection of beer and the bar mix is very good if you like spicy. The fish tacos are the only thing I've had here (Mahi Mahi & shrimp) but the other selections looks good and the appetizers aren't just generic dull appetizers. read more

They suggested not to write a review if I was connected with someone working there. How could not connect with them, they are the sweetest people taking care of you. Wendy and Karen are fantastic! They know what you drink and treat you as part of a big family. I used to be a regular on Thursdays when Carlos and Kevin (and lately joined by AJ on the drums) used to held an "Open Mike Night". Went with some friends for happy hour. Three stars because there aren't really any good special HH prices. The appetizers however were quite good. I had the lettuce wraps, and stole some of my friend's cheese from the cheese platter. If you aren't trying to save some money and just want some good food, this place might be for you. read more

While staying at the Sheraton on business, I stumbled into karaoke night at Shooters and boy was I glad I did! I had the distinct pleasure of meeting Stacy, the best bartender this side of the Mississippi. Stacy was very attentive from the second we stepped into the bar. She immediately greeted our group and took our orders, then proceeded to make us the best handcrafted cocktails in San Diego. Needless to say, we stayed until last call, and Stacy took care of us until our very last drink. We will certainly be back just for Stacy. If you're in the area, definitely come in and see Stacy, have some chex mix, and sing some karaoke! read more

Between staying in hotels 20 days a month from LA to NY, I love Sheraton La Jolla for 1 reason only - Scotty! I had a choice of 3 hotels tonight and the only reason I chose this place was because of Scotty - he is a caretaker of old charm - he remembers my name and always offers the best service. Put it this way, if I was in the hospitality industry instead of fashion, I would hire him to work at the Mandarin Oriental, or one of those 7 star hotels in Dubai! Number 1. The bartender, always a friendly smile and excellent service.He might even make you laugh if he has time for conversation 2. The food, pretty darned good. I've had selections from the shooters and Humphreys menu. 3. Entertainment, they have some excellent free music during the week and I have seen some of the best singers who just request a song step up to the mike and sing a song they know. Bad Experience, once I was sitting with two of my work buddies outside on the patio and they were winning (not too seriously) about how they were out of beer. I thought I would help them out and stop by the bar, see the waitress and buy them each a beer. She was no where around so I procurred the beer myself and went outside. Whatever unwritten law I broke the ugliest waitress in the west stormed outside and soon enough let me know all about it. Everyone else on the patio got to see my public lynching as well. Apparently she thought I was trying to make her look bad by bypassing her services and going directly to the bartender. I tried to plead ignorance of the law, but it was to no avail. I had been drinking Sprite all nite but the waitress turned Bully now decided to further insult me by announcing to whoever was within earshot that "Youve been drinking too much" so what can you say to a bully? Argue? Throw a Fit? Hah! Youll end up inside of a police cruiser for defending your honor. What did I do? Left the facility without incident.
