Small mom and pop bagel shop with a variety of coffee and tea drinks. For it called "The Daily Bagel", I don't think the bagels are made on the premises. The muffins and other baked goods they offer were plastic wrapped to keep them fresh. That said, it wasn't the best place to go. I asked for an extra toasty bagel, and it came lightly toasted. It also only had a thin layer of cream cheese. The Traditional bagel (salmon, capers, etc) was decent. Very simple. The breakfast egg, bacon and cheese bagel was average. We were in town for the weekend and stopped in for a quick bite before heading to the aquarium. We figured you can't go wrong with a bagel, but apparently, you can. Bagels are great, and have lots of variety. Service is also good, the lady at the front is always really nice. It's got a few small tables and chairs to sit/wait. But the real star of the show is their Vietnamese coffee, it so ridiculously good and they serve a pretty good amount for the price, compared to what other cafes charge now in days around the area. I think they're better than the regular bagel chains so definitely prefer bagels from here. It's not the same as a NY bagel, but at least they're fresh! I think the price is reasonable I got 9 bagels for around $16 recently. I don't believe there's a discounts for purchasing large quantities. To be honest, they do not have the best bagels I've had in San Diego. Admittedly, I am a bagel snob! These bagels are serviceable as a vessel for cream cheese. As you can see from the pictures, they're a bit pale. However, the very sweet and cheery service does get an extra star from me. We got a vegetarian bagel sandwich and a traditional lox bagel. Was definitely not a fan of the bread and butter pickles in the vegetarian sandwich (it added too much unnecessary, briny sweetness...and this is coming from a pickle lover). As for the bagel itself...well, they don't have the chew and texture of boiled bagels. They're pretty airy with a lot of crumb; While they're a step up from the Costco/grocery store bagel that is literally just bread in a ring form, they're definitely not as good as what you'd get at Golden Bagel in Rancho Peñasquitos. read more

Came by as soon a they opened, and the staff welcomed us in and were patient as we figured out what to order. We went ahead and got the jalapeño cheese bagel with veggie cream cheese, a parmesan cheese bagel with cheddar chive cream cheese, an egg salad sandwich on a jalapeño cheese bagel for food, and we got an iced vanilla latte and an iced Vietnamese coffee for drinks. Our food came out quick, and everything was fresh! From the bagels that had just come out to the veggies in the egg salad sandwich. The bagels had great flavor and had decent amounts of their respective cream cheese. The egg salad sandwich was stuffed with the delicious egg salad and veggies (red onion, lettuce, and tomato). The latte had a great vanilla to espresso ratio, and the Vietnamese coffee was strong but yummy. We can definitely see why The Daily Bagel is so popular, as many people came in shortly after we did. When I visit this little mall it's usually to shop at Vons or to get chinese food at Shanghai Cafe.  Lately I've been trying to visit more places within biking distance.  I locked up my bike at the bike rack outside Vons and after picking up some groceries I visited The Daily Bagel. Blueberry bagel had a sweet blueberry flavor. Cinnamon sugar bagel had a nice sweet cinnamon flavor.  I think it touched a jalapeno bagel though as there was a bright orange spot on it and a few bites had a nasty flavor. These bagels were mostly good.  They are missing the snap/chew you get from Solomon Bagels.  They are softer.   2nd visit.  I tried a cranberry bagel.  Fresh cranberry flavor gave this bagel a nice fruity aroma.  Pretty good. Cranberry muffin was full of cranberries and had a lovely fruity flavor.  Muffin was moist and fluffy. Staff was nice and speedy. read more

My preferred spot for breakfast over the nearby Einstein bagels. While the bagels were comparable, I found the Daily Bagel to have generous toppings and tasty fillings. Considering they're located right next to Vons and student housing, the parking was always quite full but spots opened up quickly. Unlike other people's experiences, I've always been respected with my visits. The hot options do take longer to prepare but I've waited for 5 minutes at most. =ORDERED= *Traditional: came with a generous smear of cream cheese and a pile of thick smoked salmon, red onion, tomato, and capers. Had the usual toppings from other bagel franchises but I always enjoyed how I received more salmon for my buck on average. The red onion and tomato were also fresh. *Omelet: filled with spinach and came with two slices of bacon, strawberry, tomato, and a side of ketchup. Guilty lover of eggs and ketchup. Very simple but came with the works of eggs, bacon, and even fruit. *BLT: classic bacon, lettuce, and tomato sandwich with chosen bagel. Really liked how the bacon wasn't overly greasy and had a slight chew and crunch. While a plain bagel would have sufficed, I recommend getting the tomato bagel to truly emphasize the T component. *Tuna Melt: an open faced bagel of choice with a mountain of tuna salad with gooey provolone. Probably the most underrated item on the menu. An amazing hot sandwich option that was incredibly filling. A bit messier to eat but the soft, creamy tuna and cheese with a toasted bagel was a perfect pairing. The downside would be their limited selection of bagels. Although there were 21 potential options, many were out of stock before closing even came close. Plus I would settle for a plain bagel before combining my tuna melt with a cinnamon raisin one. Whenever I'm craving a bagel based sandwich, I swing by here for a reasonably priced one done well. While I hope to see more bagels stocked in each category, I found the staff to be quite giving with fillings and toppings which ultimately made my experience positive. read more
