Then $5 for a fountain drink and $5 for a plain simple salad globbed with Caesar dressing, VERY POSSIBLY store bought, sad! The side of pasta is in my attached picture but really not worth mentioning as it was that forgettable! So I'm still in search for my 'go to' chicken parm place for that area! Yesterday was a perfect opportunity to order/grab some pizza and bring it over to my top-tier chum in nearby Montclair for lunch. I didn't do a ton of recon so maybe there was a more obvious/modern method to ordering, but from what I could tell, this place was pretty old school and I just picked up the phone and called over - honestly can't remember the last time I did that, but it brought a nice whiff of nostalgia for me after years of ordering on apps. Didn't realize that Tony D's is literally right around the corner from my BFF Cloverleaf, so the location is pretty convenient if you're in the area. The parking in Caldwell can be pretty annoying, and even though I'm sure I could have rolled the dice I paid a little less than a dollar to park up the street further into a residential neighborhood. Given that Tony D's is exclusively delivery/pickup joint, I think they should pay for the spots right in front as a courtesy to their customers coming in and out; maybe they do and I missed it but if not... Anyway. The guy behind the counter was VERY nice/friendly, and even though I was a few minutes early based on the estimated ETA off my phone call, the pizza literally had just come out of the oven and was ready to rock. From that vantage point, top-notch service. The specific pie that seemed to be their go-to was the Drunken Grandma, which is usually one of my favorites (vodka sauce on pizza should be much more prevalent in my opinion) but I wasn't crazy about the chunks of tomato on it. In hindsight, would have been easy to pick off or even to request that they not be included to begin with, so that would be my recommendation based on this experience. I opted for a square plain pie, especially since I knew that a few young pups would likely be sampling the wares; seemed like an overall safe bet. Optics-wise, I thought it looked very good, and I don't regret going square here. The crust for me was probably the best part, and I made sure to strategically grab all of the corner pieces once we started eating. Nice crisp to it for sure. The overall taste of the pie just wasn't my thing. I wasn't crazy about the sauce (maybe another argument for the vodka sauce, right?) and the cheese was just okay. Tasted to me more like generic by the slice pizza, which isn't my preference. My top-tier chum liked it more than I did, so definitely could just be an issue with palate preference here but this might have suffered from inflated expectations. I'd give them another shot if a similar circumstance presented itself, but I'd go with the pie it's known for - there's a reason the Drunken Grandma is front and center in almost every review. One of her friends is allergic to gluten, so it was very nice that they were able to accommodate for her. I do wanna point out that we have been to many places that offer gluten-free options and this is the first one I've been to that does charge you extra to make a gluten-free. In terms of price, it is very similar to the other places in Montclair but they do provide very good service and the ambience both outside and inside is very nice.

I wanted to read a few reviews before typing my own just to see if i was crazy or not. It turns out many othe people tend to agree with me. Boardwalk Pizza is a unique one of a kind foodjoint that provides a down the shore theme and provides the community with their down the shore favorites! including: Big plain slices, zeppoles, and even cotton candy. The staff is very friendly and polite. The food is cooked to perfection and every now and again you may hear about some unique specials they might provide. The overall staff includeing the owner provide a family friendly atmosphere and more importantly an ARCADE!!!!! Who doesnt enjoy some classic games while waiting on your food. You could catering, delivery, take out, and even dine in. Boardwalk is more than capable in satisfying your needs as a customer. Another thing that impressed me was their involvement in the community. Fairfield carnival, Fairfield Police Department Street fair, and Caldwell street fair were only a few events Boardwalk attended. Not happy with my Boardwalk Pizza experience. When I went to pick up my food, behind the counter there was a young man wearing glasses who was working the register. One of the older men making the pizza came over and said something to him and he responded (I could not hear the exact details of either). Whatever he said must have upset him, as the older man immediately grabbed the kid (who was 18-20ish) and angrily shoved him by the arm into the wall, and seemed to making to hit him with his fist. Another young employee had to get in between the two, and even then the older man was trying to force his way through this other boy to get to the kid with glasses. It made me incredible uncomfortable and upset - I grabbed my food and got out of there as fast as possible. None of the food I actually got really wow'ed me either. The stromboli was good, but the "Famous Boardwalk Cheese Steak" was exceedingly bland and the cheese sauce had the consistency of glue. Also the pricing on the website is different than what I was charged. read more

The hostess asked if we had a reservation, (?) it was just myself and my daughter. We did not , just looking for a quick bite before a show, and actually used the word "quick" to her. She apologetically said we could only be seated at a high top without a reservation.... Ok . Well I'm 64 with a bad hip and mentioned that but she shrugged . We needed to eat , so I stayed. Not even 10 minutes later a couple came in and was seated by the hostess at another high top . The woman , my age as well, shrugged and looked at me as the hostess explained the " reservation " concept in a basically large EMPTY restaurant. I laughed with her and said how I hate high tops too, and patted my hip. Out of nowhere a heavy set ( using this description so he can be identified) dark haired man came over to them and kindly offered a regular table as long as they were done in 1.5 hrs which was when their reservations started!!! I looked at the woman , said " good for you, I guess I didn't complain loud enough " JOKINGLY!!!! He came back to our table and used a NASTY TONE, saying " THEY DIDNT COMPLAIN, I HAPPENED TO HEAR THEM TALKING!" Yes, they were talking to ME. He was soo RUDE. I felt attacked and wanted to leave but we had already ordered and I'm not that type of person! We used to eat there frequently and THIS visit reminded us why we stopped!! The food is just OK, and to be made to feel like this is NOT OK. Your 3 star review rating is very clear to me now. $50 for a plain pizza and small salad is easily spent elsewhere!

And wsup with the new staff they have no manners they r completely dragging this buisness down .so many people talking about it, they will have this location shut down soon garinteed! Go to the fairlawn location such better food more experience with how to cook and handle customers. They r Italian thats why .. stay away from verona location. Waste of money its discusting the food . I give them 1 star only

And if you've forgotten a beverage - there's a liquor store across the parking lot!!! Mike is great to speak with as he preps the dough and everyone who comes in is a regular!
