Boardwalk Vegan is simply amazing! The owners, Chris and Randy, are such good people. We live about 45 mins from here and we're there very frequently. IMHO the wings are the BEST vegan wings I've ever had! Yes, I know everyone says Triangle Tavern is the top spot for wings, but no they can't compete with Boardwalk Vegan. The wings here always come out with celery, carrots, and house made blue cheese which is hands down the best. The jumbo jet 2.0 sandwich is a MUST for me, I can't go there without getting one. There's literally no vegan sandwich like the jumbo jet 2.0. The cheese steak here is also so good too! If you're in the mood for true comfort vegan food, you've gotta try it. There is very limited seating inside and the service can sometimes be a little slow (because they're busy), but do not let that deter you from coming. read more

Still on the hunt for a vegan cheesesteak that's better than Blackbird pizzeria (now closed) but this is a good option that's local. I had the twister cheesesteak and holiday fries, portions are large so the prices aren't too bad considering the size. I probably wouldn't get the fries again, the 'parm' wasn't doing it for me and the sauce was a bit bland. I would come back for the cheesesteak as I don't eat beef. I like that even though it's a 'heavier' item I don't feel bloated from eating it and I had enough for two servings. Food came out pretty fast but I didn't like how the fries came after the cheesesteaks. Also, could hear the workers getting yelled at lol place is pretty casual, saw someone bring their laptop. This place is so cute! I love the vibe with the oldies music playing, the quaint seashore decorations, and the food is incredibly well prepared. There is so much to try on the menu and I can't wait to return! On our first visit, we got the crab cakes platter and the chicken Caeser salad. The crab cakes are homemade with chickpeas and hearts of palm (I believe) and are incredibly well seasoned, were cooked to perfection, and come with two tasty sauces: cocktail and tartar. These are the most generous people I've ever had the privilege of ordering from in my life. I'm going through a family crisis and I'm in town for the week. I've been eating wawa veggie sandwiches and French fries for over a week now and I decided to treat myself to something vegan so I ordered through grubhub for the first time. I guess I accidentally ordered it to be delivered the following day. So I just called them and asked them if they were able to change the delivery time. They said sure no problem but apparently they couldn't find a GH driver so the owner drove 20 minutes to deliver it to me and I'm honestly about to cry after the week I've had. I was looking for a place to splurge on a cheat day or the days I don't feel like cooking and I stumbled upon boardwalk vegan. Boardwalk vegan offers a variety of plant based foods. Plant based everything down to the cheese! At boardwalk vegan you can get vegan wings or seitan wings, fries, hoagies, pasta, pizza and funnel cakes. Wow! I tried the pizza balls, garlic knots, pepperoni pizza/ summer in the city, fries, buffalo chick'n wings and the deep fried oreos. My fav are the wings. They are crispy and delicious. As far as the pizza... It was okay. The dough is delicious but I'm not a fan of most vegan cheese which is just my personal preference. The Oreos and the fries were also good. The name says it all, boardwalk type foods with a boardwalk theme inside and out. You'll find items on the menu such as milk shakes, pizza rolls, Italian subs, and cheese fries. Most people come here to pick up to go orders but there is also table service. It's set up more like a counter that you'd order your food and wait for it to be called out, however. There is seating as well as table service but it's really small inside. When people are ordering to go items, there isn't a good spot to stand and everyone is in the way. During my first visit, the wait time was insanely long for my food, especially because I only ordered a sandwich and I was 1/3 people eating at the time. It seemed the bulk of the orders were probably to go. I remember liking my food though and was excited that they had an Italian sub on the menu. I didn't feel that it was worth the 20-30 minute drive or the 30-40 minute wait to return. After a couple of years, I decided to give it go. My friend and I liked our food but overall it all came down to the 35-40 minute wait time for my food and the fact that my milk shake was delivered 15 minutes after I placed my order. My friend was given water, while I was given nothing. I had to inquire about my drink because it took so long. Suggestions for business, *please hire more people to help and make food, otherwise, you'll keep turning people away unintentionally. I love fries, and fries are easily vegan, so we shared those. I was not disappointed. What really impressed me were the sweets. The vegan brownie was moist, chocolatey and delicious. This place is 45 minutes from my house but it's always worth the drive! I'm obsessed with their Sea Serpent hoagie which is a vegan take on an Italian sub. The flavors hit every single time! They also have a great selection of appetizers like the mozz stix! We ordered as a starter and would have preferred to get it as a starter rather than with the main courses. Served with the main course, something was going to get cold, and it did. My entree was Margherita Pizza. The cauliflower crust was so good that I thought it was wheat. That said, it is an expensive pizza. Fun to try, though not sure I would get it again. A personal size option could convince me. There was one basil leaf per slice (properly put on after the pizza was cooked). One bite of basil per slice was disappointing. Better to tear the basil into pieces and spread around. There was not much of the, "mozzarella cheese," for this particular pizza. The cubes melted awkwardly. If possible, sliced as mozzarella is usually sliced would be better. The sauce is yummy, though there was too much. More, "cheese, a bit less sauce, please. After reading good reviews, I decided to try this place. I had high hopes but was disappointed. I got the cheesesteak and it was the worst I ever had. Dry and barely any cheese on mines. Hipcityveg and Sabrina still way better. I also got the Mac and cheese and the pasta is undercooked and still raw. The favor was bland and lacking any seasoning. Just the worst meal. I had to throw it away because it's non edible. Disgusting. I will stick to making my own vegan Mac. I was meeting a friend for lunch and to catch up over good food. I love the fact that so many of my non-Vegan friends are always up to try my Vegan wish list spots. Today's venue of choice - Boardwalk Vegan. The thought of my favorite shore bites veganized was tantalizing. We decided to share several different bites to get the full experience. First up, the Holiday Fries. Parmesan and Garlic galore - yes, please! The garlic aioli was the perfect compliment to this generous portion. The fries were hearty and not greasy at all. Second up, the garlic knots and marinara. Can you tell I love garlic?! These were melt in your mouth good! Third up, Chick'n'Wings, Buffalo, of course. These meaty Seitan bites were doused perfectly in Buffalo sauce. OMG! And finally, funnel cake. This was the absolute perfect end to an amazing meal. We couldn't finish everything because the portions were huge. Everything, and I mean everything, was absolutely delish!!! I really wanted to give this new favorite 5 stars. Wow wow wow. My sister and I got takeout today and it exceeded our expectations. We tried the baby venice pizza, roast beef sandwich, italian hoagie and a funnel cake. We've been vegan for three years and there are very few fully vegan restaurants in the Delco area, so we were very excited to try here. The pizza crust was incredible and the mozzarella chunks went perfectly on it. The italian hoagie was a perfect mimic of a primos hoagie, but better. The funnel cake was both cakey and crispy with the perfect amount of powdered sugar. We will certainly be returning! If you're looking for boardwalk, nostalgic, delicious vegan food, look no further! I fully believe even nonvegans would enjoy their food thoroughly. 10/10! read more

The Good: First, I have to say the pizza rolls were out of bounds! I don't know how they make their vegan mozz, but it is hands down better than really dairy. It's got the perfect texture and taste. Also, the vegan sausage and pepperoni's were phenomenal. The white pizza was very tasty, but also extremely salty and buttery/oily (very heavy). We also had s milk shake which was decent, but a little too milky. The bad: It seems like you could have squeezed a half of a cup of oil from the funnel cake. Very underwhelming and disappointing. Definitely one of the best vegan places in Philadelphia! I got a pizza and some wings. They were really high quality, and tasted like the real thing. The cheez didn't taste fake- it just was far more subtle than I was used to. Would probably benefit from adding in some Daiya cheddar. The wings were just barely grainier than real chicken wings, and if you didn't tell someone what they were eating i'm sure they would believe it was just slightly chewier chicken. My only gripes were that the pizza crust wasn't crispy at all and the wings had an odd aftertaste. The aftertaste disappears after 2 wings though. Also, it is really expensive when compared to the alternatives at non-vegan restaurants- roughly double the price of competitors. Even still, Boardwalk is a place worth trying.
