Got a simple toasted everything bagel with cream cheese ($2.95) from Boars Head Cafe while transiting through Atlanta International Airport Concourse A. At around 7 a.m. they were in the midst of an early morning rush so it took more than 10 minutes to get a simple toasted bagel but it was done perfectly. I would have liked a little more cream cheese but the small box they gave was just about fine. Unfortunately, the bread it was between was a different story. It was stale, which I assume was stale when the sandwich was made. The sandwiches don't sit long enough for the bread to become stale, I would hope. I hope it was a one off. I like Boars Head, and grab & go places when I'm at an airport connecting flights. The sausage patty was oddly textured, was highly under seasoned for mystery meat, and was still a little cold in the center. We needed a quick bite to eat so we all ordered sandwiches, only to realize that they were "out" of the spicy chicken for their most popular item (the chicka boom). Once we all decided on a different item, 4 of our orders had to be remade because they were wrong. To top that off, none of our sandwiches were cut all the way through which was incredibly inconvenient while trying to eat on the go...which you'd assume they know you are doing so because you are in the airport. I really like this place. Located in Concourse A, right in the busy intersection of restaurants. The sandwiches are so tasty. They're not dry and are full of flavors. The veggies are crisp and my sandwich held well. I ordered another one for the hotel and another one my flight back. Lol. I will say however, that the service could improve a bit. The girl who made my sandwich was great but the cashier kept complaining loudly about how busy it was and she was "sick and tired of standing here." There was only one other person in line with me. This was my first time to ever eat at a Boars Head Deli. We were traveling and had a 2 hour layover in Atlanta. I ordered a sandwich. It was very good and fresh. I had wheat bread with turkey and cheese. The service was very fast. The only complaint is the service was not friendly. The workers actually seemed annoyed because I didn't understand their ordering process. As you make your way down the line they ask very simple questions. What type of bread? They have a handful of choices in their little fridge area, as well as fruit cups and carrots and hummus, among many other things. It's always so hard to find healthy fresh food at the airport. I lucked out when I found this deli, where I could make my own sandwich with all the fresh veggies I wanted. Since I had a few hours in my layover, I ate in the seating area next to the deli. I was pleasantly surprised when I saw a nice lady who worked there asking how customers were enjoying their food, and offering to clean up any trash they had. I brought back the first sandwich, i had ordered a Cuban with light mustard (typically ham, pork, cheese, pickles, and mustard; also what is listed on the menu for that) the first sandwich i opened was just ham and cheese and Loaded with a ton of mustard. No pickles and no pork. I brought it back and let them know it wasn't what I'd ordered, and they told me they were out of pickles... something that would be good to know when placing the order. He is then told by Charles I don't want to know about what don't want, tell me what you do want. OK... I order a BLT, Charles calls a blt and I am told that is not mine. OK... I've stopped at this deli on many occasions because the food is decent and they're usually fairly quick (usually mad dashing between flights). Well. NOT this past Sunday, Feb 15, 2015. WOW. As I got to the counter at the deli, I had 15 minutes to make my flight, pleanty of time. Put in my order and was asked to step to the far side, register #3 to pay (no problem). $17 later for a sandwich, chips and water (gotta love airport prices! LOL) I stood off to the side watching the clock tick. 10 minutes later I step back over to where all the staff was and asked if they'd forgotten my sandwich. One girl gave me the evil eye and say "Wha?" Another girl said "Whadya have?" I told her and she looked over at another girl who closed her eyes and said "Shit. I forgot." (very professional.) So they say "We'll make another now." I said "Unfortunately I don't have time for that, I'll take my money back for the sandwich." Another girl grabs two slices of bread and slaps some sauce on it saying "I'll make her something." So I say "Well, what are you making?" And she says "a Hot (habenero?) turkey sandwich", to which I reply "No thanks, I don't want that, I'll just take my money back since now I'm out of time." The short little unprofessional bitch (yup, I said it!) at the register glares at me and says (I kid you not) "I don't need your shit lady." and walks away. WTH!? A manager walks up to the register and does she apologize on the little ghetto girls attitude? Nope. Just says "What did you have?" So I said "Well, I got a whole lot of attitude from someone who made a mistake now didn't I?" Did she apologize? Nope! And can you find any contact information for the franchisee? Nope! Tired of the lack of respect, professionalism and politeness I keep experiencing with people in the "service" industry. No, I don't expect or demand to be waited on, but if I place an order and pay for it, I'd like to get what I pay for. I went without anything but a small bag of chips and a bottle of water for dinner that night. It. Was. Awesome. There are pleanty of other businesses in that airport that will get my business going forward. Companies need to teach their employees professionalism or get rid of them.
