Won't go back. Too many other places to try, especially for the price. My wife always goes for the short rinds on any menu and we both were confused by the dish. Definitely not for tender, fat fully rendered. Perhaps "24-hour" short ribs are a different thing altogether, but these weren't what either of us were looking for. I'm just not sure what was happening. My wife asked if it wasn't beef at some point. Fish tacos were pretty solid, but the fish to other goopy stuff on top ratio was underwhelming. Kiddo loved the chicken fingers. The chocolate peanut desert was pretty good, but at some point I remember saying to my wife, "heh, I suppose they don't pride them selves on presentation here, eh?" My wife and I went on a Sunday night and sat inside with a great view of the Severn River and the Naval Academy. We had a very attentive hostess. About half the seating is outside and half inside. There are 3 different seating areas (rooms) and a bar inside. A good variety of appetizers; oysters were fantastic. A few salads, sandwiches, and entrees. The entrees are just the right size; almost fill you up - but not quite. In this way you can try an appetizer or dessert. The lobster pasta was excellent - just the right consistency and a good amount of lobster. The filet mignon was cooked to perfection with a sauce and vegetables that went well with it. Everything was fantastic! The surroundings with beautifully laid table with lights and white tablecloths, the beverages, and the food were wonderful. We had a large group, 7 adults and 6 children. The kids are active so we went early so it wasn't crowded. We had planned on going by boat but sadly a storm hit and it was pouring rain. Service was attentive and friendly. I will return for sure on a future family visit. One minor thing..my vegetable crab soup was lukewarm and it would have been better hot. My husband got the cream based and his was hot. The moment we arrived, the lady who helped us, whom we believe has a stake in the restaurant, went out of her way to ensure that we were accommodated quickly. From the moment we sat down, the service was exceptional. Every request was met, and every wish received the best attention. This was especially true when it came to providing 14 different checks so that each person could pay their own way. THE FOOD The Maryland crab cake is an absolute must-order--a perfect delight and generously packed with lump crab meat. The chef in charge seared it to golden perfection. It's the kind of dish that reminds you why Maryland is renowned for its blue crabs. Equally impressive are the crab deviled eggs, a creative appetizer that elevates a classic with delicate crab meat and just the right touch of Old Bay seasoning. Most of us had either crab cakes or the beef tenderloin sliders. We shared a couple of hummus flatbreads as an appetizer. The whole lunch, in addition to the atmosphere, was just grand. IMPECCABLE SERVICE The young lady who served us, Bella, went out of her way to help us. What truly elevated our experience that day was the attentive, knowledgeable staff and the passion they expressed in providing the best experience we could ask for. Great view even on a cloudy day! We went for lunch and the menu is limited. I would have given a 3.5 but no half stars and not a 4 IMO. It was just the two of us. We tried the fried chicken sandwich - it was solid. Good pickles and sauce, and the fries were very nice. Ketchup not edible. Our other dish was shrimp tacos. Shrimp were cooked well, but the slaw/relish was so vinegary- this too was inedible. Apparently my tastebuds differ greatly from the chefs. Chips and salsa on the side were tasty. This is our 3rd year celebrating the 4th of July at Severn Inn. The staff is really friendly, the food is good and you can't beat the view for the Annapolis Fire Works. I actually made a meal out of the apps on the app station. We travel with my daughter and son in law and with Digby the service dog. The management is very accommodating. Even during a thunderstorm they found seating for us inside until the storm passed. I did miss the carving station this year. I was so looking forward to the carved roast beef. A couple of private celebrations service has been between good and mediocre. Hence why the 4 stars. Definitely a 5 location/ambiance. 4 star for food. 2-3 star service. Particularly on Valentine's Day, because it's not like you can walk out in disgust without looking like a cheap jerk. I had a bowl of the Maryland Vegtable Crab soup (red). Someone needs to teach the Chef how to make MCS. It was absolutely horrible. Worst I have ever had and I was raised in Annapolis. All it had in it was carrots, onion, little slivers of crab meat, and the broth tasted like water was used instead of a beef or chicken broth. No chopped tomatoes. A complete disappointment. Mediocre food at high prices. Just okay service. An Unengaged staff. Meh ambiance. Bottom line: this was our first time trying Severn Inn after moving to the area 2 years ago--it is also our last visit based on tonight's experience. We made reservations for four on Resy. Arrived in this white table cloth restaurant only to be seated at a bar table by the teenaged hostesses. I guess they didn't feel like remaking one of the nice tables after we left, so we sat at a bare wooden table without all the other features of tables in the attractive dining room were enjoyed by no one in all the empty tables just a few feet away. The only highlight was a smoked salmon flatbread app. Other than too much sauce, the taste was very good. One guest ordered a cider... Only available in a can... None on tap. The cider arrived at room temperature. Why have specialty beers on the menu if you are not going to make any effort to keep them cold? The place was barely busy with only a few tables filled. Therefore, they did not suddenly have a rush on the cider as an excuse for being out of cold ones. After some ho-hum Caesar salads (hard to mess those up, but they were just Meh) the food arrived: two decent cheeseburgers, but one of the two was undercooked even though both guests ordered them cooked medium. I ordered the filet mignon. What arrived was slathered with a generic brown gravy that looked and tasted like it was from a jar. My daughter called it "TV dinner gravy". The filet was served with an average creamed spinach and Denny's style home fries. But all of that was sloppily COVERED with that lame gravy. At a $56 price point no self-respecting chef in the industry would send out a filet that looked like that. I presume the real chef was off and it was just a group of generic kitchen staff working on a Sunday evening after the holidays? Since our table was never visited by a manager, that suggests there was zero supervision this evening and no one was there to do quality assurance on this mediocre presentation. Like too many restaurants with a waterfront view, Severn Inn is one of those that appears to have completely given up on food quality because the guests keep coming in for the view. Unfortunately, for them, there are so many other alternatives in the Annapolis area with better food. If you want a waterfront view with high food quality, choose the Choptank instead. I am particularly frustrated at the price point. Based on the misleading website I booked this room as a farewell dinner for two kids returning to their respective homes after being with us for the holidays. We all ended up with a disappointing meal with hohum holiday ambience served by a staff of unshaven 20-somethings wearing T-shirts and zip up fleece jackets. Absolutely inconsistent with the impression that one gets from their website which tricks the reader into believing this is a fine dining restaurant, punctuated by a fine dining menu and prices. I might have ended this review with a recommendation to come here only to have a beer or two and an appetizer while enjoying a lovely view of the Severn river and then go elsewhere for dinner. But at these unnecessarily elevated price points I cannot even recommend that. read more

Best brunch Buffett in Annapolis! I think price was around $50 and easily worth it. They have a raw bar packed with limitless oysters and shrimp, and some perfect crab dip. Then, the hot bar is loaded with beef tenderloin, old bay wings, quiche, sausage, bacon, and decadent French toast. And that's just what I sampled. The lobster pasta provides a very generous portion of lobster, but the sauce is so thick and cheesy that it's too rich to enjoy the whole plate without feeling kind if gross after. The scallops were great! The crab came would have been top tier, if it weren't for the maybe 10 pieces of shell in it. Disappointing. Burgers also were not successful although we couldn't pinpoint the odd flavor it had. I recommend drinks and appetizers here. We had the worst Mother's Day experience. The buffet food was cold and there was hardly any left. I took the last of the beef sirloin because I was starving but it was just cold. We waited for the new meat to come out and then it was so raw you couldn't even eat it. We asked the waitress if it could be heated up and cooked some more and she told us No!, to go back and look for pieces that weren't so raw. We said there weren't any so we asked again. Could you please at least ask to cook this? What kind of service is that? She never came by and cleared plates. We never got any refills on our drinks and then we found out why-even though we were a party of two they added a 22% gratuity so what did she care? She didn't have to give us good service. The service staff seem understaffed, overworked and like a revolving door. There's one server on 4-5 huge tables and we had to wait 20 minutes for simple items like a box. We saw our server was trying his best to keep up but the managers were "watching" but didn't seem to be productively helping in anyway or intervening to improve the situation. I dined at this restaurant for the first time. My meal which was broiled crab cake with a seafood medley was good. I also enjoyed the Brussel sprouts which was my starter but did not care for the classic margarita, tastes watered down. Sitting outside listening to the water hit up against the rocks was relaxing. Though the servers were nice, there appeared to be a bit of confusion with who got what meal and the plates coming out one or two at a time. I had a work lunch at Severn Inn a few weeks ago and enjoyed the meal! I enjoyed their crab cake sandwich (classic on a brioche bun with a mixed green side salad - other side options were fries, coleslaw, and fruit) after they had just sold out of their softshell crab special. It was classic, delicious - totally enjoyed it. I appreciate that Severn Inn has a parking lot (I've been taking a lot of work meetings/lunches in Annapolis lately and often have to -park in a nearby parking garage when that meal is in the area near the Maryland State House). I also really appreciate the water views - they're great whether you sit inside or out! And the service was very welcoming. Overall, definitely a place I'd visit again. I've been hearing about this restaurant for years and I've driven by it on numerous occasions. It's nestled under the bridge. The atmosphere was nice looking over the scenic Naval Academy waterfront. It was resturant week but we arrived at 3pm and they had stop serving lunch and we were too early for dinner (lucky us). Therefore, we went with the regular menu. Our server Jake was very comfortable in his role, you could tell that he was not a newbie. He was able to make suggestion, and was attentive and friendly. My friend had the Lobster Pasta which he said was delicious but not enough food. I enjoyed the crab cake entree and overall it was good. The crab cake was a good ole fashion Maryland crab cake, the corn salsa was perfect, the coleslaw was different. It had long slices of red onions and it was a twist to coleslaw, it was tasty. The food was fresh and prepared nicely. I love fried green tomatoes but these weren't my favorite. Although I grew up in this area, my mom's family is from the South. We don't coat our tomatoes in flour, it taste like an onion ring. Authentic fried green tomatoes are dipped in an egg wash then coated with a mixture of corn meal and a little flour. Seven Inn's Fried Green Tomatoes could use a revamp on their recipe. My beverage was the Paloma and it was refreshing but I wouldn't order it again. It didn't have enough fresh grapefruit juice. The restaurant was packed. There was no available seating in the dining area due to private events. We sat in the bar area at a high top table. Overall we had a good experience and this place would be perfect on a summer day when the deck is open. read more

The Severn Inn has great views and food. The oysters were fresh and the crab cake was delicious. The halibut came out undercooked but when I pointed this out they took it back and cooked it longer so that it was fully cooked. If it wasn't for the fish being undercooked I would have given a higher rating since all the food was good otherwise. The brownie sundae for dessert was great. The restaurant is further away from downtown so if you wanted a quieter spot, this would be a good option. read more

I've always wanted to visit the Severn Inn, and it was a little disappointing. The positives: view was excellent, our server in the beginning, most of the food. The negatives: service for the back half of the meal and the cream of crab soup. Brisket nachos were very good, but needed a dash of salt, perhaps on the chips. Lobster pasta was also very good and loaded with lobster. Wish there was a little more pasta. Peach caprese salad near perfect. Needed more pecans for the size of the salad, so you could get some in each bite. The cream of crab soup separated before our very eyes, like when you reheat something creamy in the microwave and it's a puddle of oil. I couldn't even finish it. Sad for $12 soup. Pairs with salad mixed with soy dressing, cucumbers, and cherry tomatoes. The portion of tuna was balanced with the salad but I wouldn't complain if they gave more. * Fried Black Sea Base * Delicious Sea Base accompanied with chorizo Spanish rice and chimichurri. Oh, this was great - a little crisp of flavor with each bite of rice, blended with chimichurri was a great choice. Sadly I was so excited for these entrees, the picture I took was blurry! Very nice ambiance and good food, not very creative, but good quality and fresh except for pastries. We went for Sunday brunch: 3 buffets , cold, warm and desert. It is so nice on the deck, watching the boats on the river. You are just above the water, with a cool breeze and nice music (not too loud, you can have a conversation) The oysters are very good, tasty and fresh. We also had shrimp and they are good, perhaps a little too cooked for me. The tenderloin in the warm buffet is fantastic, medium rare and soooo tender. The desert buffet is very disappointing. The pastries are not fresh. And I really advise against what seems to be a napoleon as it is so limp and pasty that you cannot cut it! I almost had another oyster to wipe the taste out ( yes, I know, I should not have tasted it). The service on the deck is spotty depending what the waiter found interesting on his phone. The cream of crab soup, is right up there with the best I ever had! The drinks were amazing. Strong and bold, just like I like it. Full bar and they can make anything you want. You do not have to order from their selection. I had an old fashion made and it was superb! I love a good Espresso Martini for a dessert cocktail, followed by a hot cappuccino. I organized a dinner for my friends for 4th of July at Severn Inn. It's $100 each bc you can see the fireworks from the deck and the have a buffet. The service was pretty good seating us and filling drinks, very nice. The salad buffet had shellfish including raw oysters and shrimp. My friends were excited they had shrimp but when they ate it they realized it was undercooked. We said something to the waitress and she said, it's a raw bar. We are no spring chickens and have had plenty of shrimp on our lives and we know it's supposed to be fully cooked. That was kind of embarrassing for me that I invited my friends and then the shrimp was undercooked and the waitress kind of gaslighted us about it. My only other complaint is there was no cooked vegetable on the entree buffet except potatoes. As a vegetarian I try to be really flexible and eat whatever but I was pretty disappointed they didn't have green beans, broccoli or asparagus. Severn inn, you should visit Toby's in Columbia.
