Went here with friends on a Saturday night after listening to live music. We didn't have reservations and waited for a table. We didn't have to wait long as a family with a baby was about to leave. I looked around and the space is modern and clean. There is a bar area that is well lit and inviting if I was dining by myself. The menu isn't your typical Italian menu. There was a chicken fried tofu appetizer, steak frites, smash burgers and snakehead. I don't know what snakehead is so ai went with the catfish carbonara, my friend had the steak frites and my other friend had the Brussel sprouts appetizer and pear salad. We also shared a bottle of red wine. Our dessert was a deconstructed sundae with cannoli bits and delicious. Our server was Brendan and he was fantastic. He answered our questions and checked in and chatted with us for a bit. Highly recommend this restaurant. read more

We stopped by Leo Annapolis for dinner. We arrived at the perfect time; we found a parking space pretty close to the restaurant and it was not super busy yet. It's not a huge restaurant, but nothing is wrong with that. Lighting is dim which sets a nice mood. The staff were friendly and welcoming. The drinks I had were pretty average. But the food was not. For the appetizer we got the Brussel Sprout Gratin. I believe I've had something similar at other restaurants but this one is how I think this dish is supposed to be to be made. Everything was balanced; the perfect amount of cream sauce (the brussel sprouts weren't drowning in it), the breadcrumbs added another texture, and the small pieces of bacon added a little more salt. The steak and fries were good as well. The pepper corn sauce was the best. I sopped my potatoes in it and the combo was so good. I wouldn't get the potatoes again though. They definitely had the beef fat flavor going on but they were missing something by themselves. Now for the winner, the Chicken Roulade was surprisingly amazing. I almost never get chicken at restaurants. It's so basic, but this dish wasn't basic at all. The meat was wrapped in a thin layer of chicken skin which added a crunchy texture. The chicken was moist and seasoned perfectly. The sauce had a little sweetness to it but not overpowering. I would get this again and again. read more

The place was nicely decorated and it was packed when I went at 6:30pm on a Saturday night. The only issue was the noise level is a bit high. Also there was a woman who came in wearing a tube top that was pulled down and her nipple was showing! Not the restaurant's fault but I felt that the host could've said something. I guess it could be good or bad for the business depending on who's looking. Food was fantastic. I had the Maryland crab soup which was rich in flavor although a tad on the salty side. For entrees, my friend had the kale Caesar with grilled chicken (which he loved) and I had the grilled scallops (which I loved as well). We finished with a peanut butter mousse dessert. We visited Leo's on a moderately busy Saturday evening and opted for the outdoor seating since the weather was too pleasant to pass up. The service struck that perfect balance--gracious and consistent, warm without ever feeling smothering. I did sneak a peek inside, and the space itself is worth noting: a thoughtful balance of minimalism and opulence. It doesn't feel sparse, but it also avoids being overdone--just the right touch of polish and atmosphere. The food was solid across the board. The she-crab soup was a creative interpretation--spicier than the Maryland versions I'm used to, but the nod to Old Bay was clear and welcome. The house salad was bright and refreshing, elevated by a wonderful ginger dressing that made it memorable. The steak and fries came with a sauce that I'm still thinking about--it tied the whole dish together. Next time, I'd order the medallions medium rare, as the medium came out a bit firm. But the true star of the show? The burger. Two thin patties with crispy, caramelized edges and a juicy, succulent center--seasoned to absolute perfection. The meat itself tasted fresh and high-quality, and the lightly buttered bun brought everything together. Honestly, it's one of the best burgers I've had--easily in my top five. Had lunch here during the weekend. Food was great and the atmosphere was fun. Just as an FYI, the burger is served well done.

My husband and I had dinner at Leo this past Friday before a concert down the street at Rams Head on Stage Annapolis. We had a reservation, but - at least this early on a Friday night (our reservation was for 6:15) - I don't you necessarily need one. We were immediately sat down at our table and greeted by their very friendly staff. I would say Leo is somewhere between Modern American and Southern. We shared a few dishes: golden crispy grits (fried grit cakes with mixed pickles and hot sauce aioli); the citrus-marinated beet salad (red and golden beets, tahini, hazelnuts, sesame, arugula, a cilantro dressing, and Cara Cara oranges); the smash burger (dry-aged patties, cheddar, pickles, onion, and Leo sauce on brioche with fries); and a fried catfish sandwich. I thought the grits were fun but not super flavorful without the hot sauce aioli and pickles. The beet salad was good; the cilantro dressing made it different from a lot of other beet salads I've had, and I enjoyed that. The catfish sandwich was good, but I liked the smash burger better. I was very tempted by a dessert they had (strawberry shortcake funnel cake), but we were - sadly - too full to try it. I had a glass of wine (Gruner Veltliner from Austria) and one cocktail (a blood orange margarita), which were both good. My husband stuck to The Primary (a mix of rye and amaros), which he enjoyed enough to have more than one. The restaurant is attractive, comfortable, and casual (people were dressed very casually inside and it was totally appropriate, but you could also dress up a bit if you want, because it's a nice enough space that you wouldn't stand out dressed up). The service was top-notch. Our server was lovely - friendly, helpful, but other staff also checked on us and brought dishes over. We felt very taken are of. Our food at Leo didn't blow us away. But incredible service and good vibes make it well deserving of a four star review for me. read more

Stopped by Leo in the historic district of Annapolis and loved their happy hour drink menu! They have four choices for $7 all night Monday thru Thursday and 4-6 on Friday and Saturday! The bartender is super friendly and it wasn't too busy which was also a plus. The espresso martinis are fantastic. They used a variety of chocolate liquor in the mix that blends so well with the rest of the drink. I didn't order them, but the vodka martinis and aperol spritz also looked fantastic! I highly recommend stopping by for a drink, or two at Leo if you are in the area! The Happy Hour cannot be beat! read more

In town for the Annapolis Cup Croquet Match and stumbled upon Leo Annapolis while looking for a place to have dinner. We didn't have a reservation, but luckily were able to be seated after about 10 minutes. The restaurant looked busy-- all the bar seating was filled and tables inside were all accounted for. There is also seating outside. Our waiter was great and very quick to refill our water and take our order. He was extremely attentive and very friendly. As for the food, we shared the fried grits and for mains-- my friend had the quarter chicken and I had the smash burger. The chicken was seasoned really well and cooked perfectly! He did mention the portion size is a little bit on the smaller size. The smash burger was nothing special, and pretty on par for other burgers I've had in the past. read more

Leo is a must visit restaurant in Annapolis for foodies. I was so impressed with their apps from the start: celery bisque was delish and comforting and their Delicata & ricotta is a brilliant app. I love how the chef came up with the concept of a cold squash dish: the fresh veggies and ricotta cheese made this dish perfect. Blue catfish did not disappoint either. Loved the mushroom topping on the catfish. Unfortunately their cocktails didn't live up to their food: they were a-OK. Winter mule was nice but Manhattan and espresso martini, not so much. Otherwise, Leo is a dynamite spot for foodies and I will be returning on my next Annapolis visit. read more

Wow. Visiting from NYC and I needed a place nearby the Westin to grab dinner. I didn't know what to expect but it blew away my expectations. Crab soup and mushroom ragout were SO DELICIOUS! Such a great spot in an awesome location right on West Street, with easy parking nearby (there's on-street parking but it's limited, so I recommend the Knighton Garage just one block away). The menu is super creative and changes often, so there's always something new to try. The staff are friendly, helpful, and genuinely attentive, and the space itself is really charming; it's rustic and nautical, but still modern and stylish. Cocktails and mocktails are fun and delicious, and the wine list is impressive, unique, and clearly well thought out. Definitely a place I want to come back to when I'm back in town whether it's for dinner, brunch/lunch, or just drinks and appetizers at the bar. read more

Excellent!! Go to Annapolis pretty regularly but haven't spent enough time in this area. Excellent pre-dinner craft cocktails at the bar and I haven't stopped talking to anyone who will listen about the squash and burrata appetizer with focaccia toast. The most simple ingredients turned into an amazing dish!! Do not sleep on this one. We both had the steak frites. The sauce was divine, steak tender, and fries perfectly cooked. I really wanted to like Leo's, I found It here on yelp and based on menu was looking forward to It. The ambience was more like a high end diner- brightly lit and sparsely decorated. We started with the ginger bread espresso martinis which were thin like a Starbucks cold brew.. The chicken fried tofu was next for an appetizer. I expected tofu bites lightly fried and we got something you'd get at Applebees. I'm not even sure It was made on site- a small fried finger of something that tasted processed. When we shared with our waiter- he offered the focaccia as a replacement, which was toast with butter (a good replacement but not focaccia). Our entrees arrived which were the coulotte steak and the chicken roulade. The steak wasn't seasoned and was bland, and the sauce didn't help- equally bland. The frites that came with It were meh. The chicken smelled nice and was well seasoned, but tasted like a $20 dish rather than a $39 dish. Overall was very disappointing, for the price, especially disappointing. Medium lighted, clean, well appointed interior. Short, diverse, well curated wine list. Excellent food. We had the roasted bone marrow which was the largest we've ever had. The seared Atlantic scallops were just a little over cooked but the curried cauliflower purée made up for it. The broiled oysters were excellent. Enjoyed a great dinner last night with friends. The restaurant is gorgeous , so modern and cozy. Service was really great, they were just very on top of things. Drinks were good, I got their Pride drink which was really tasty. We shared the side of Brussels as an app and the grits. Brussels were delicious! The grits are like fried bars of grits with pickled onions and pickles on the side. It was a little heavy but very good. I got the smash burger since I saw they had won best burger in Annapolis. It was very good! We also shared the funnel cake. It was good but needed a little more of the topping. Overall great experience! read more

We met a friend here after hearing how many locals have been enjoying Leo. All in all we left happy. The service was nice and helpful when we got served the wrong dessert and our two cups of tea only came with one tea bag. We loved the local sourcing of the food and some meals were great while others left us confused on the whole. If you only read this one thing - get the scallop appetizer. It was one of the best preparations of scallops I've had in recent memory. The grits appetizer was disappointing as it wasn't very flavorful and the spice didn't come through in just a dressing. My husband's catfish was tasty and prepared so well but then was overwhelmed by the topping. The griddled angel food cake itself was good but was served on basically a cup of applesauce which we found confusing. The chocolate ice cream was a lovely end to our meal. read more

Very nice, fast service. The food was great. We had reservations and when they saw we had a four year old with us they promptly pivoted and got us a low top table. It's loud inside but very quaint at the same time. The Brussels were spicy, but delicious, I'm not a spicy food girl so I couldn't really eat them. I had the roasted chicken with fingerling potatoes, the sauce on the plate was a bit spicy but tolerable, the sauce dolloped on the potatoes was top tier, that could've been lathered all over the plate honestly. My daughter had the smash burger and said it was delicious, but rated it a 7/10 because the bun is hard. My husband had the catfish and said that it was very good. I would like to go back and try the fried grits and deviled eggs, our table neighbors from GA said they were a must try, so from two southerners such as myself if they say the grits and deviled eggs are good I'm inclined to believe them and try them out, and you should too! read more

I wish the gnocchi was smaller and fluffier, definitely big dense gnocchi that I cut into 6ths and smothered in the sauce which helped cut the dense-ness. Excellent place and Excellent food! First time there with friends. We had a lovely bottle of pinot grigio from the Willamette Valley in Oregon. The place has an extensive wine list! For dinner I had the confit chicken quarter which was absolutely delicious. Very fresh. Very tasty. My husband had the snake head fish dish which he very much enjoyed. Our friends had the ricotta gnocchi (which I will have the next we go) and the duck. For dessert, my husband and and I shared a pear dessert with ice cream and granola. SO SO GOOD!! Our friends had the sweet potato creme brulee which was also amazing. Our server, Jacob, was Awesome! Very friendly. Very attentive. Answered all of our menu questions. He was great! Clean contemporary elegant interior. Love the warm feel. Service was awesome our server was great. Food was very good here if your talking taste! They have it down. I feel like I could have eaten more of the sliders like 20 of them or 10 cheeseburgers...The pickles that we in the sandwich was amazing. But there's one thing that bothered me with the food. The chicken sliders chicken meat were so thin. The taste was great but felt like they skimp on you with amount of chicken. I'll say the same for the burger. Great taste but patty was very thin. Wanted to really give it a five star but with the way the meat portions come out it's kinda concerning and disappointing. Don't skimp on the meats please and you have a great place here. The atmosphere is intimate but not romantic, meaning as a single person, in a group or on a date night, all would feel equally comfortable. Overall, the service was good, and they offer a nice selection of wines. I started with the Crispy Grits. They were amazing as was the aioli served with the grits. My only critique is to remove the paper napkin on the plate. It gets moist and starts to come apart. For my Main, I had the Coulette Steak (1 star). This was very disappointing. I was presented with a dinner plate piled high with french fries and a small side of Coulette Steak smothered in a bland sauce. The 2-inch squares of steak were sliced too thin, and the entire dish was room temperature. Had my entre not been so bad, I would have given Leo 5 stars. That is why I will give them another try and hopefully have the experience I was anticipating. read more

The food, service, and ambiance are all superb. I had never had snakefish before, but man is that thing delicious! And you're helping out the city eliminate an invasive species. So I get to help, and I get to eat doing it? Sign me up! We started off with the wings and they were perfectly seasoned and delicious. My friend got the pesto risotto which was very flavorful, and my other friend got the chicken sandwich. Everything was delicious, including our drinks. Good, food and drink. The drink "...the best days or something, something...bourbon with lime" was very tasty. We both ordered the burgers which is a specialty of theirs. She ordered the lentil burger which she liked (I thought that with bread was too much). I got the regular smash burger, fantastic. And the fries were on point, wish they bought out malt vinegar. The problem was the service. Our waitress was like-not available. We didn't order an appetizer because she took so long to get to us, even though she was constantly around us at different tables and the register. It was bad enough that the manager (we think?) waited us for drinks and refills. Overall, would go again, but prices a little high for burger and fries and drinks. The staff was very attentive, helpful, and knowledgeable. The atmosphere was excellent great music and pleasant lighting. The owner stopped at all the tables to check on his guests. What a wonderful dinner at Leo in Annapolis, MD this week! This is a fairly fancy restaurant, but they advertise as family friendly and truly are. We came with a 2 month old and were treated very well - they made space for her stroller and made us feel completely welcome. There was also a child at the next table who appeared to be 2-3 and they provided her with a high chair. I don't know if it was a coincidence, but it seemed like they intentionally put the families with kids together - if so, it was very smart since it puts less pressure on those families if the kids get fussy and allows the adults without kids to avoid them. The food was excellent! The Parker rolls were incredible - only complaint was that there were 4 of us and it would have been nice to have them either bring out 4 rolls or warn us that it only came with 3. We tried 3 of the sides - potatoes, Brussels sprouts with harissa, and broccolini. My favorite was the broccolini, but the rest of my family liked the Brussels sprouts best. For entrees two of us ordered the catfish, one ordered the risotto, and one ordered the steak. Everyone was thrilled with the entrees, which we sadly didn't remember to take pictures of since we were too excited to eat! We tried the bread pudding, coffee panna cotta, and raspberry tart for dessert. The general consensus was that the bread pudding was amazing, the raspberry tart was a very close second best, and the panna cotta would have been great without the comparison to the others but didn't rise to their level.
