[[HIGHLIGHT]]Great historic tavern right next to the Annapolis dock.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] My wife and I came here for 4th of July lunch. We had the blackened fish tacos, carne asada platter, and beer from their decent selection. Service was fast and friendly on a busy day. [[HIGHLIGHT]]They added patriotic lights and banners to the historic decor which was nice for the 4th.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

This really closer to a three. Thank God, we went on a very slow Monday evening after Mother's Day because it was manageable. I can only imagine what this place becomes on a weekend or a busy time. This is right on the Square in Annapolis and I think an institution. My friend's husband used to Barback here years ago and upon their visit, we decided to go for a quick dinner snack. It's actually quite large and there's a lot of different types of seating. You can sit at the bar. You can sit at the inside courtyard with a tree in it. You can sit outside even! The food is nothing really special they do have a dollar oysters which I think is really fun but like I said they're dollar oyster so they're not that delicious. I did really like their cocktail sauce and mignonette that is kind of a travesty. But again, this is an Irish pub with a little bit of a diverse menu. The crab dip is classic. I feel like no one messes up a crab dip in Maryland. Honestly, I think for a quick bite and it's a great place for probably tourists or maybe local so I'm not really sure I don't need to come back here. I think there are other options. But the service was really fantastic.

McGarvey's has a fun and laid-back vibe. It's perfect for seafood-lovers but there are also plenty of indulgent non-seafood options too! My friends really enjoyed their oysters and even had an oyster shot?! We also happened to go on the first warm day of the year, so everything just seemed perfect :)

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Great food, ambiance, service, everything.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I got oysters and a crab cake sandwich. It was really good and I dont even really eat seafood anymore (except fish) but I just had to try it since I was in Annapolis and they're known for their crab.

The day after my best friend's son graduated from the Naval Academy this year, we had brunch/lunch at McGarvey's on May 24. Since we didn't have a reservation, we had a long wait to accommodate our large group of 9 people so we wandered around and enjoyed the scenery and weather. We also grabbed a drink at a nearby bar. They sat us in a nice spot near a window. We tried a variety of things on their menu, including the Navy Grog! It was the first time I had tried Maryland crab soup and I liked it! Everyone was really friendly and since it was graduation weekend everyone was feeling extra celebration-y. :-)

Sat at the bar: cute! Bar area is very old school tavern style which I loved. Food & drinks: all hits, no misses. The one dollar oysters were actually delicious! Which is not always the case lol. Ended up being a mix of briney and more sweet oysters but they were large and very fresh. Tried quite a few other things -- Calamari, fried shrimp and fries were perfectly seasoned, and corned beef Reuben was delicious. Service: excellent. Shaun (bartender) made me something off menu by request and it was one of the best versions of that cocktail I've had. She was attentive and great energy. Rebecca also helped us and she was just as welcoming and attentive.

Absolutely fantastic. We arrived without a reservation (not sure they took them). We walked in on a Saturday afternoon and were quickly seated. Waiter arrived tobtakenour initial drink order which was quickly followed with our order for food. Which arrived quickly after placing the order. All food arrived hot and well presented. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The ambiance reminded me of an old style saloon with conversation at the bar, and the small tables and chairs.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Drinks were plentiful and the price for food and beverages was very reasonable. This is definitely a must stop spot when In Annapolis. Great for date night or simply a Saturday or Sunday day trip.

The food here was really good. I really enjoyed the crab dip, which had a decent amount of crab. The crab soup and the fish and chips were decent. The $1 oysters were great and tasted fresh. The restaurant/bar has a cozy vibe and is a good spot for bar and comfort food.

Came the other day on a busy day in DTA and the hostesses were very accommodating for our large party. Came for the $1 oysters! I expected them to be small but they were good sized and delicious, will definitely be coming back all summer for this amazing deal. Ordered some other seafood appetizers and LOVED everything (special shoutout to the calamari).

When I asked if they had burgers, he tapped the menu and said, "We are a pizza spot!!!" which immediately set the tone. We decided to stay anyway, but things didn't improve. My husband ordered the braised short ribs, not realizing it came with a spicy sauce. When we brought it up, Bobby told us if it was remade, we'd be charged for both orders. No effort to check with the kitchen or involve a manager -- just a flat no. Then my husband ordered an Old Forester 1924, but was given the 1920 instead. The 1924 is highly allocated and hard to find. when he saw they had it, he really wanted to taste it. When we pointed it out, Bobby just said, "Oh, okay," and never corrected the drink or offered a solution. The only bright spot was the bartender, who was friendly and offered him a taste of the 1924; that was the only moment of good service all night. Really disappointing experience, especially for a birthday celebration. 1 star only because of the bartender.

Menu focuses on both Chesapeake and west coast oysters. They also have a variety of salads, seafood and libations. We ordered a dozen oysters (4 different Chesapeake ones, 3 of each). They came with a vinaigrette and a spicy cocktail sauce. Server explained each one to us. They were fresh, clean tasting and delicious! We also got the smoked whitefish dip. It was creamy and smoky, topped with caviar and came with flatbread style sesame crackers. It was light and savory. My companion ordered the tuna sashimi special. It had melt in your mouth toro marinated in yuzu and sesame sauce. It was topped with seaweed and came with a side of kimchi aioli. It was definitely the star dish. Will need to come back to try other seafood dishes and drinks.

Whitefish Dip was fine but way too much mayo than the fish. Bread & Butter was disappointing. It shouldn't be something they charge. The bread probably was from supermarket and it wasn't chive butter but green onion. OG Caesar was basically wedge salad with heavy pesto oil, overall oily and salty. Lomi Lomi Salmon... Not good. Hamachi probably was the best thing. Happy hour drinks was the best thing.

Visited with a bunch of guys after touring the Naval Academy campus...a short walk from the campus, it's a great Irish pub with a great ambiance and selection of Irish beer on tap (Guinness, Harp, Smithwick, Kilkenny) as well as the usual American brand. In addition, it houses a great selection of whiskeys: Irish (Bushmills, Jamesons, Red Breast, etc. - the different varieties), bourbons (to include Pappy's, Blanton), scotch (MacAllans), etc. The dining experience pairs well with the beer and whiskeys. The meat for the reuben sandwich and traditional corned beef are selected and prepared in a traditional manner making it delicious. If you are lucky, you will meet the owner of the establishment, who will regale you with stories about past Academy graduates who would return to the pub after graduation or even about his playing in a rock & roll band. Great food, beer, whiskey, atmosphere, and if lucky, great stories and an experience. When visiting the Naval Academy, take a yonder down the street, you won't regret the visit.

A patron next to us asked just before we did and got refused too -- then was abruptly cut off and denied service shortly after talking to us about their own bad experience there. ANOTHER patron, came in after we did, was also treated rudely and refused service. My own issue: ordered a lemon drop with tequila (not vodka.. it makes me sick). First one was fine. After a bartender shift change, the new bartender -- who was actually the shift lead -- made my second one, and it was clearly off; I suspected vodka was used. I asked for it to be fixed, was refused.. So I sent it back, and asked for it off the bill. Paid my tab in full, then noticed at tip time the charge was still there. Server said the bartender wouldn't remove it. When I spoke to him directly, he blamed me for ordering something "nobody knows what it is," and when I said I'd dispute it with my card instead, he attempted to snatch my card off the table. I refused to engage further with him, asked for someone else (refused AGAIN) so I left.. I will be disputing the charge with Amex since he was the only one with register access. Multiple tables treated poorly in one night. SKIP THIS PLACE!! Smug and disrespectful bartender pictured..
