The Boatyard Grill is an excellent place to have lunch or dinner. We enjoyed the service as well as the food. The wait staff is very helpful and very prompt and taking care of you. The Ambiance is wonderful and the food is prepared awesome. I would recommend the Boatyard Grill if you're in the area and don't forget their Detroit style pizza is some of the best and the Wayne Macomb and Oakland counties. It does have their own twist to it and the crust is amazing.

No frills. Dimly lit. The chili was good the pizza was ok. I had round, my lunch partner had square-looked awesome. Moderately priced. Seems to have a regular crowd.

After coming here a few times and trying a few different menu items, it's getting better. The pizza is great along with breadsticks. The anti pasta salad is very good and hearty. Also tried the ahi tuna which I've hesitated with in the past.....but to my surprise it was very good. On par with Crews Inn. Yum. As for ambience it's a little weird as the bar splits the restaurant in two parts. You definitely get the feel that this is a local hangout. One of the downers is the lack of craft beer selections, but they do have 3-5 decent ones on tap/can. If you're I. The area, definitely worth a stop simply for the pizza alone, then you can venture off from there.

Just got a carry out from here.!! Never Again! First I called and was told I couldn't apply the 2/20 Tuesday dinner special to a carry out . Never had this problem and always carried out pizza ! My husband picks up the order and they don't give us 2 salads and the soup .. who wants to go back and come home to cold food ? The food is disgusting... the red skins look like they were left over from someone else's plate .. seriously ! I am going to attach a photo of untouched food !! Unacceptable!! I have NEVER wrote a bad review about a restaurant until now! Take your $$ elsewhere !

This lovely creation rests on a sheet of aluminum foil, so you know it's gonna be good. I'm a sucker for good old sloppy bar food and Motor Cafe fires on all cylinders. Love the overly beer-battered chicken fingers, and garlic parm wings. Good hamburgers. Deep fried oreos too. Salads looked HUGE. There's lots of daily specials and a big old 80's Ritz-like bar too. Prices were very reasonable considering the entrenched inflation all over America. Service was great. Very down to earth people. Tip them good. Keep your expectations in check. Inside it's a cavernous warehouse. Seriously, it's huge like echos in the canyon. So big, your crazy kids could swing in the rafters. If your looking for warm and cozy consider Applebees instead. There's a degree of bowling alley seediness, a touch of carnival, and an air of anxious fun. See the fat people in bad t-shirts, smell the bleach-beer, hear the clunk of distant bowling pins. Taste the beef. This is real America. I love it. Bonus: Architectural remnants of the former Mt. Clemens Drive-In decorate the place. I frequented such for over three decades. Last film I saw there was "Casper The Friendly Ghost" (1995).

Tons of TVs, but still clean and not grimy at all. Even the bathrooms were super clean, which I always notice. The food is good and the portions are huge. Everything leans a little pricey, even the kids meals, but you are absolutely getting your money's worth. The adult meals came with a straight up mountain of tots. I'm not exaggerating. Like... a pile. My son got the cheeseburger off the kids menu and it was honestly big for a kids meal. He was pumped. And $2 for a 22oz Coors Light all day? That's a win. Service has always been fine for us. Lots of younger girls working as waitresses and we've never had anyone rude or inattentive. Nothing over the top, just consistent and friendly. There are random pinball machines and games in the back which feels kind of unexpected but fun. It's a great spot to watch a game, bring the kids, or just hang out. Just know your bill might be a little higher than you expect, but you won't leave hungry that's for sure.

The dishes I ate will be rated separately because of their range in quality. Bread Basket: 4/5 The bread basket that came with the prime rib that I ordered was better than most. It came with multiple freshly baked dinner rolls with some char on them and crispy breadsticks, complemented by a garlicky butter. Soup of the Day (Seafood Bisque): 5/5 This soup was the best dish of all that I had ordered. Despite being a side dish for the prime rib, its rich flavor overshadowed everything else I ate for the evening. House Salad: 2.5/5 The salad is a standard salad that you can skip. Nothing special. Louisiana Lemon Pepper Walleye: 4/5 The walleye was the second best dish. It was a well seasoned, large filet that had a great tartar sauce to go with it. This is a dish I would order again if I came back. Prime Rib: 3/5 The prime rib was surprisingly underwhelming. The edges of the prime were a little tougher than I'd like, and the prime rib itself came out a little cold. The au jus could have been reduced to be a little more concentrated as well. Overall, if I were to come back I would choose to order some different menu items, apart from the soup.

UPDATE after revisiting:…read more Unfortunately, my opinion of this place hasn't changed. The restaurant feels extremely dated, the service was below average, and the food was below average as well. What makes it frustrating is that this place has so much potential, but the overall operation feels stale and stuck in the past. There seems to be very little culture or energy among the staff. Some employees give the impression that they've been doing the same thing for 10 years and are simply going through the motions. Nothing feels fresh, exciting or particularly memorable. The biggest missed opportunity is the evening and weekend business. After 8 PM, there should be a reason for people to stay here for drinks--an interesting cocktail program, better bar atmosphere, music, events, late-night specials or something that creates energy. Instead, people looking for that experience are going elsewhere. That's a huge amount of potential business walking out the door. This feels like an upper-management problem more than anything else. The location and foundation are already here. What it needs is fresh leadership with a clear vision for the food, service, bar program, employee culture and overall guest experience. With the right operator, I genuinely think this could become one of the most popular restaurants in the area. Right now, though, everything feels like it's running on autopilot. Ownership needs to recognize how much potential is being left on the table and bring in leadership capable of taking this place to the next level.

He came home shortly after & didn't have his phone & to double check I called him & it was not in his car. So I called Pete's right away (Sat. Beware shady business!

I wanted to believe this place had turned a corner after being featured on Bar Rescue, but what I…read moreobserved afterward made it clear that whatever changes were made did not stick. Responsible alcohol service did not appear to be a priority. It was common to see visibly intoxicated patrons continue to be served, sometimes to the point where their condition was hard to ignore, and then leave without any meaningful intervention. That alone raises serious concerns about community safety. Operationally, there seemed to be very little oversight. Staff were regularly left to close the bar without an owner or manager present, despite the volume of cash moving through the business. Inventory tracking appeared inconsistent, with many items rung in under vague or generic categories rather than clearly documented. From a customer perspective, it felt chaotic and loosely managed. There also seemed to be a culture of excessive comping of drinks and blurred boundaries between ownership and patrons, which created an unprofessional atmosphere. Instead of structure and accountability, the environment felt improvised. What ultimately changed my perception permanently was how a legitimate health issue was handled. When I was unable to come in due to a serious medical situation and communicated that honestly, the response escalated quickly and aggressively rather than being handled with professionalism. That experience alone made it clear that people are disposable here. If you're looking for a bar that prioritizes responsible service, professionalism, and consistent management standards, I would think carefully before choosing this one. The optics may look improved from television, but the underlying culture did not appear to change.
