What makes boaz different than chipotle, and in my opinion comparatively better, are the gangsta topping choices. Tabouli and pickled turnips with a cilantro vinaigrette..Straight Gangsta! The bowl ends up being a healthy rainbow of bright colors and vibrant flavors. I also ordered some fresh squeezed juice which was a combination of beets, carrots and other healthy vegetables. We walked in and the restaurant had open seating and the place felt clean. We were greeted by someone who worked there and he explained how the restaurant worked. You ordered at the counter and you had a choice to build your own pita bowl (kind of like chipotle) or order off the menu and it would be brought to your table. We ordered hummus beef shawarma, Boaz combo and lamb rolled in pita. We ordered 2 freshly squeezed juices. (Grapefruit and immune booster) and a water. We also got an falafel appetizer and French fries. Total was around $30 for three people. The juices are only $2! The juices came first and they brought us samples of the strawberry smoothie. All the juices were fantastic!! My husband loved his lamb and I had a bite of the Kibbie in the Boaz combo and it's the best I've ever had. The falafel was very tasty but a little on the dry side. Still delicious. My beef was absolutely delicious. What a deal! Our food came in all together and it was love at first bite. The hot sauce was to die for. Not over powering but just a slight heat with flavor. There was a lot of hummus to be eating and the portions were generous. If we lived in Cleveland we would definitely frequent this place and try everything on their menu. After we ate we went back to the counter and bought some desserts for the 2 hour ride home. Just had the coconut macaroons. OMG it was delicious. I'm now jealous of the Cleveland residents. When we are back in the area we are definitely coming back!!! read more

Stumbled across this place while scrolling through the Yelp app. Said "Hot & New" and had 30 reviews, all 5 stars. I thought to myself....well it's worth a shot, because the menu online & reviews say they have smoothies and fresh pressed juice for $2. Yes, you read that right, $2! My husband goes in and I sit in the car with our toddler. I ask him to get me a Tropical Storm smoothie and my son a Strawberry Blast smoothie. I figured these would be small, since they are only $2. Nope, 16oz smoothies, and man oh man are they ever delicious! My husband does the build your own bowl option, great choice! He comes back with a delectable bowl of goodies! Everything was fresh, tasted awesome, and did I mention it was only $6 to pile high a bowl with all these delicious goodies!? It's not a question on whether we'll be back, more like how much can I afford to eat here weekly!? Oh and the customer service and employees are lovely!!! We gave our almost 2 year old a bite of our bowl, he said "mmmm" with a huge smile and proceeds to give me a big hug! Also he downed his smoothie, we didn't even get to try but 1 sip! read more

Due to recent events I have decided to move to Ohio. (Galaxie my ex girlfriend did not come along) I have heard many things about Ohio and have concluded it is a perfect fit for me because I have made countless appearances in "Ohio memes" videos on YouTube. As I arrived i stumbled across this cafe. (Boaz cafe) As I entered some Jew was prowling over the pages of the Bible. I then noticed a small man fussing over some customers. I then proceeded scour there menu for something edible. To my disgust they ONLY had healthy options. (Salad, fried chicken) I then DEMANDED for a burger and they retorted that they only had VEGAN burgers! Nearly collapsing to the floor because of my rage I said I would take 6 of the vegan slapped burgers. As I was waiting for my food I was disappointed for how long it took. (A good 3 long minutes) but when my food was delivered I was ASTONISHED by how scrumptious it tasted for this I give them 5 stars. read more

Ambiance: Clean and well-kept. The staff were very helpful since it was our first time in, they walked us through making the bowls and suggested sides for us. There was practically no one around 6pm when we went so our side of soup and cauliflower was done almost instantly. Food: I think while Chipotle-style Mediterranean seems good in theory, it didn't quite work out in practice. Mediterranean food works best with plenty of starch and with intensely-spiced simple meats. The bowls we had didn't have quite enough grains (rice and quinoa) so the reasonably-portioned meat was a little too much. You add in the pickled turnip, beans, sauce, etc and you have a very complex bowl of intensely flavored objects that fight for attention instead of harmonizing well. You can always craft a simpler bowl but since the portions are fixed for each ingredient, you'd end up with a pitifully meager bowl. It seems like people love the bowls but I'd honestly be happier with a regular entree elsewhere and being able to balance the proportion of sides myself. The lentil soup was good but not what I was expected, it was very light with a strong lemon flavor which was refreshing instead of homely. The spicy fried cauliflower had a great flavor but admittedly was very oily. While Boaz does have strong flavors and decent variety, the Chipotle-style set-up doesn't lend itself to well-balanced and harmonious compositions especially if you're also trying to get enough volume to fill you up. I gave Boaz another shot after a representative contacted me regarding my review and was hoping to make up for it. I am happy to say this second experience was an improvement. I came in with my mom on Sunday around noon, there were a few other patrons and three staff working. My mom ordered a fatoush and lentil soup, and I the build your own bowl, all to go- the total was around $20 all together. When building the bowl, again I was a bit upset that there is no chicken shwarma (just grilled cubed chicken), and to me personally, the baba is still a bit salty- BUT I got the phenomenal garlic spread this time, and literally could have eaten it with a spoon. I will say, my mom's order took a bit longer than we were hoping- especially because it wasn't busy and it was just a salad and soup. The soup portion was very generous- a bit different than typical lentil soup (this is lighter in color and lemon flavored), my mom enjoyed it. The fattoush was a bit un-asthetic, but again enjoyed it. The response from the business owners blew me away, they really seem to value the customer's experience and want to make up for any negative ones. I would return if I was in the area and looking for a quick bite, but to me still I had to add more lettuce to my bowl when I got home, I just feel like the container is a bit small to be a totally fulfilling meal, so perhaps adding as mall and a large option would be an improvement. read more

This place is great and has awesome healthy food! I have been a few times and always enjoyed my experience but this last time was really not pleasant. I ordered a bowl as I always do and I don't eat meat and avoiding carbs. When I asked for extra tomato and cucumber salad I got a face and then I got a face when I wanted more pickles and sauces on the side. Finally I was like "what" am I doing something not allowed? She informed me you can only have two sauces. This is fine- I don't mind that there are some limitations etc. However this is my feedback: 1) I would prefer communication rather than a sour face 2) I can always pay more... at the end I am coming to enjoy and I am happy to pay for it The food is fresh and excellent- everyone is generally kind and wonderful. read more

Oh! My! God! I have no idea how humanity deserved such good for such low price. They have an amazing build your own pita/bowl bar which in the end tasted delicious. Then, they make juices and smoothies by order. So they are not pre-made which makes them fresh and healthier. You can also take out some stuff that you may not like which gives you flexibility. In addition, you can add chia and flax seeds to your smoothies for 40 cents each. It's crazy! If I lived in Cleveland, I'd probably come here every day. Great spot! I'm happy to see so many good reviews of this place. It is one of those rare gems in Cleveland where the food is healthy and you can have a (pretty generous) meal for under $10. I chose the make your own salad option, which has a good spread of ingredients for a Mediterranean salad and I got a fresh squeezed juice. Total cost was under $10! A word on the location of this place: it is, in fact, where Bonbon café used to be. I didn't realize that Bonbon had closed. Turns out that the owner of Bonbon cafe (who wanted to pursue something new) sold the place to the owner of Aladdin's, who opened up Boaz. Everything has great flavor, tasted fresh, and was so healthy! I also got the Empower Blend juice and it was absolutely delicious and a steal at $2!!! The space is clean, well decorated, and bright. All the staff were extremely accommodating and friendly! There's lots of street parking available as well. I brought three juices home with me and plan to come back very soon. The choices are plenty and you will not be unsatisfied. If only Boaz Café were closer...but I do drive all the way from the east suburbs to eat here, and would do it much more if it weren't so far! I've only ever gotten the make your own bowl and fresh juice but the rest of the menu looks just as tempting. Prices have increased just a tad since opening but they are still so affordable. I usually go with the beef and top it with ALL the fixins. Such a fast, healthy option and always fresh. The prices are very reasonable, however, portions too small. This is why I did not give it 5 stars. Let me paint the picture for you...I got the bowl and it was like a third full and I got almost all they offered for the bowl. Other than that the food was fresh and tasty....just not enough of it . I will return and try an entree next time just to see if that is the way to go when it comes to getting more food . Both the bowls and the pitas are delicious, and its a good place to eat in or take out! The decorations at Boaz are so cute and trendy, and make for a fun experience eating out! This is a great place to stop for lunch on your lunch break during the week, or meet up with friends on the weekend to chat.
