Stephanie was a fantastic server. She took time at each table, speaking with her customers and seeing to their wants & needs. My son & I came in today for a late lunch. Stephanie recommended the new seasonal beverage, Appleberry Splash, a mix of apple & pomegranate juices. My son ordered the Rise & Shine: scrambled eggs with American cheese, extra crispy bacon with fruit & biscuits. I ordered the 1/2 and 1/2 lunch - cranberry Pecan chicken salad and the double cheese pot roast dip sandwich. Everything came out from the kitchen looking great until I looked closer at my salad. I had a bug amongst the blue cheese and greens. Stephanie immediately took my plate back and asked the kitchen staff to re-fire my meal in its entirety. Once I got my meal, it was fantastic. We even got to bring home biscuits. We'll be back to see Stephanie & enjoy another meal in a couple of weeks. read more

I read a review at Sniping for Dom and decided to give them another chance. The black pepper maple syrup was very good as was the pancake sandwich. The hashbrowns were terrible. We ordered onions for them and were Charged .79 cents each. That would have been fine ,but we each literally had a teaspoon of onions on top of those potatoes that were barely warmed over. Now I know why I stay away. I hate being taken advantage of , even if it only added 1.58 to the bill. The server was not really cordial either. Today 4/25 we decided to stop in as we do not have a bob evans in our area. We get in and stand at the hostess stand for about 5 minutes with no acknowledgment from anyone. We finally sit down and wait another 5-7 minutes before our waitress comes over to greet us. She probably didn't see us because they stuck us in the corner. We proceed to order our food as we know what we want. Our waitress never came back with our drinks. The food comes out and she places it on the table- at that time I proceed to ask for a manager- that is when we met Zach the assistant manager who 1. Made sure we got our drinks 2. We were on an extended trip by car from Massachusetts to Indiana. We stopped in Cleveland, Ohio and Erie, Pennsylvania for breakfast. Both restaurants had stellar waitresses that were genuinely interested in making our trip a great one. There was excellent service, and delicious, hot food. We are on an extended road trip and have stopped at all kinds of restaurants. I'm especially sensitive to how hard servers are working these days and how many establishments are still short-staffed. Mindful of this, I'm writing this review because of the incredible server, Janine. Our server got a little behind and Janine stepped in and got things rolling. It happens and it was dinner time. Our server got slammed. Perhaps, Jeanine saw the hunger in our eyes but she came over, asked if she could help, and did. Presto! She immediately brought hot fresh biscuits which staved off the "hangries." We got our food exactly as ordered; Crispy hash browns and yummy Bob Evans sausage. I'm surprised by all the poor reviews for this Bob Evans. We stopped by here on our road trip to NY - convenient location, great service (by Tina), and extremely clean bathrooms. We were seated right away, and Tina made our experience delightful, even finding ways to accommodate food needs for our 11 month old. The food was great, and knowing about our road trip, Tina offered refills on our coffee and brought us waters for the road. Great experience, and I'd recommend giving them a try! read more

Waitress provided good service but my omelette was over cooked and the home fries were undercooked. Bob Evan's continues to go downhill.

This is the worst Bob Evans I've ever been in as far as service goes. We were seated promptly right past a nice little booth way in the back next to a big round table of 5 people. It took forever for the server to get to our table so we figured we'd get our food ordered with our drinks to save some time but, the server wouldn't let us. He took our drink order went over to another table, took their food order then came right back to our table to get our food order! That just seemed like a nonsensical extra step and meanwhile, that little booth I liked already had their drinks and were being served their food just before our drinks came. Maybe it's just because I've been on the road too long today but, I sure wish I would've stopped the host and asked to be seated at that little booth I liked because here I sit way in the back still waiting for my food and those people in that little booth seated after us, have eaten and are long gone. UPDATE: Glutton for punishment (and because my husband loves the sausage gravy) we stopped back in for breakfast trying to give this place a second chance. My hopes were high as we were seated quickly and our server came right over but, then our food came. I asked for no whipped topping on my fresh berry French toast but it was on there, there was a nice dollop of raw egg on my plate and the French toast wasn't cooked enough, leaving more raw egg soaked into it. I was hoping to give a better review this morning but, this place made it impossible. I'm not sure how this place stays in business. Horrible food. Cold biscuits, crusty...left under a heat lamp long enough to be hard. Uncooked hash browns, even though we asked for extra crispy. Sausage gravy....must be made from water and powdered concentrate. Yuk! My omelette? Yikes....It was under the heat lamp so long that the outside was more crusty than the biscuits. Inside, It clearly sat so long that it was at room temperature. They must stay in business by catering mostly to tourists who spend all of a night in a nearby hotel. That food seems to be a hallmark of Erie, especially with many of our franchises here. Bad Bob Evans, A bad IHOP, a bad McDonald's, a Popeyes that cannot even fry it's chicken. it's a pattern in Erie, A reflection of many people who don't know what good food is, but a lot of franchisees who know better, and they do know better, but simply have no pride whatsoever. Count this Bob Evans among the franchisees in Erie who have no pride, and one of those franchises that operates way way below its peers. Forget this place, go to the Gem City Dinor, to Russ's Dinor..... or to the franchised Sheraton on the Bay front, where you will find plenty of pride when it comes to food and service. I love Bob Evans and have eaten at many with wonderful experiences. This particular one was NOT that. The poor waitress was run ragged without help...having to wait on ALL the tables. (She did amazing for what she was tasked to do). The kitchen was horrid though. I got the farmers breakfast and the sausage and hash browns came out burnt and hard. I was kind in approaching the port waitress but did ask for these to be replaced. The kitchen remade them...this time underdone (included RAW pork in the sausage). Since I was needing to get on the road I just asked for it to be refunded..their response, they refunded a portion of the farmers breakfast. Ok, but shouldn't there have been a concern for the fact that this was a health concern and could be reported to the health department not to mention it could have made me sick? No apology and no real refund. Avoid this Bob Evans...unless you want to risk your health. read more

The good: had the chicken fried steak with mashed potatoes and green beans and a diet coke. It was not bad and a bargain at the price $12.17. The floor was clean. The bad: I was never offered a refill on my drink, I consider this a mortal sin, and I was never offered dessert. Eating half of your dinner without a drink is not so good. The waitress took my order, brought it to the table and returned with the check. Worst service I have had in a restaurant in years. I guess that is what you get when you wear a tie-dyed shirt in Pennsylvania. Also, the young lady at the cash register was all smiles until she asked how dinner was and I explained about what I believe is poor service. I guess that is not appreciated because the smile went away and not another word was passed between us until I said thank you on the way out. Overall I like Bob Evans and always have. Lots of good menu choices. We were there for lunch. Seated promptly by a friendly young lady and our server came over right after. I wanted the chicken salad plate with fruit which they usually have in the summer but they don't have it anymore which was disappointing. Instead I ordered the half sandwich combo with a cup of soup. It was good although the pot roast on the sandwich was a bit over cooked. My husbands steak was good but also over cooked a bit but not enough to send back. I've never wrote a Yelp review right after leaving the establishment, but I felt it was necessary. This is specifically in regards to our waitress who I will say her name is K. Please learn to treat ALL people with respect and kindness. I came into this Bob Evan's location with my family for breakfast. We were the ONLY group of Asian people at the time. We were seated and our waitress K dropped off silverware for us and said she would be right back. It took nearly 15 minutes for her to even recognize that we were ready to order and even after that it took another 5-10 minutes for her to come and take our order. K didn't even offer us water when we first seated and when my parents ordered coffee she didn't even ask what type of creamer they would like, while she asked the tables around us that question instead. After my parents cups of coffee were almost done, she never not once offered to refill their cups OR our waters, but she made sure she offered to the other tables around us at least twice. When our food arrived, instead of placing the dishes in front of those who ordered... She passed them down and told us who ordered what. Last time I checked, proper customer service entails placing the dishes that people ordered in front of them. Your guests are NOT your help. I am SO disappointed in this establishment. I truly hope this is not how all Bob Evans locations are. Management should re-educate their employees on how to treat people of ALL color with kindness and respect. It's not often I ever feel like I've been treated differently due to my race or skin color and I can handle it for the most part, but for my parents to feel that they were treated differently because of that pisses me off. ALL people of color deserve to be treated the same. I don't care if you are racist, it's your job to treat people with respect and kindness, your preference outside of work is up to you. At work you should leave your prejudices aside. I wish we would have eaten at the IHOP across the street instead. read more

Approx 10 min later. , the manager stopped by our table to ask if everything was OK. I told him we were waiting on coffee. He said our server would be right over. Approx. 10 min. later our waitress showed up with silverware and told us she'd be right back to get our drink order, just as soon as she submitted an order (presumably from one of the other 6 to 8 people already seated. Instead of eat and park go here. On my first visit there were three people smoking right outside of the doors. I would put the smoking stop right across peach street. Since they are playing with their life smoking it away, why not turn them into a full life frogger game for the rest of us to watch. Sorry but people whom smoke STINK! I ordered three eggs bacon and hash browns and the eggs were BIG not the small eggs at eat-in-park. I asked the eat-in-park manager if they could please find me smaller eggs because I didn't believe smaller eggs were legal. He didn't smile and asked if I would like something else. They keep the coffee and drinks coming and if they are not then the trick I learned was to call the place you are sitting at and ask them to come over to your table because you would like a refill. This little trick has a big effect, you can even ask for the manager and it does not make a scene. Bob Evans has been around forever and I've never had a bad meal here and people remember not all serving staff are created equal and you do not know the life they have. If they are slow ask them when they started you might me at the tail end of a double-shift. Look at the people whom service you, no greater sin in my eyes are people whom treat the wait staff like dirt. I read some of the other reviews and they said the wait staff was terrible. Well them grow a SPINE! Step up and talk to the manager. You are paying for food and service and you should be happy. read more

Should I worry when a person in a chef's outfit greets me at the door? I am starting to think that I should. What's that saying? If you can't stand the heat, stay out of the kitchen? Here's a new one for you. If you can't cook, GET OUT OF THE KITCHEN! No seriously, people are paying real money for your cooking and you can't even get that right. Wait a minute, perhaps, I am being unfair here...because I ordered the blue light special, that no one's ordered in a dog's age and the chef is technically proficient in everything that he does but has NEVER cooked this one. Well, I didn't...and I wouldn't even feed your food to my dog, if I had one. Here's what I noticed: Getting a table was slow. There was only one other family in front of us and we had to wait. Lots of people standing around but no one seemed qualified to help us to a table. That's when we got the person in the chef outfit asking us to wait patiently. Sure, we'll wait, but even you won't seat us. By the way, what is with the chef outfit? Are you POSING? Because you're certainly doing everything possible not to cook or supervise the cooking. Waitress was nice but not overly caring. More on that later. She took our order, took forever to bring us our drinks. My sweet tea wasn't sweet, so, she poured me another glass, and...wait, I got another saying nagging in the back of my head...what's the definition of an idiot? Someone who does something over and over again the same way expecting a different result. Well lady, guess, what, if the first one wasn't sweet enough, the second one sure as hell wasn't. Did you care? Nope. Did you ask me about it again? Nope. Well, I wished I had ordered something complicated, but I didn't. I ordered the Rise and Shine, which is their #1 Breakfast item. Was that my mistake? Assuming that although you have an all day breakfast, you could actually cook it at dinner time? So, we get the food, and I am looking at my bacon, which is rock hard like a boomerang. And while I am deciding whether I should try eating this "erect" piece of bacon (your words waitress, not mine) and fling it at someone in the restaurant to see whether it comes back, you ask me if everything is okay, quickly assume yes, and scurry away. Wait, did I just miss another episode of waitress not caring? Nope, I didn't. Cause I am not stupid. I should point out that the eggs were a little over done but since they were still running, I will give it a pass. Hash browns are good as always. Toast...unforgivable. This gives me the sign that the cook was more interested in text messages on their iPhone than on my meal. The cook was just as hard has the bacon. In fact, I could see clumps of "butter" on the toast. I use the term butter lightly because it was the wrong colour and consistency. Clumps of butter, which meant that you either over cooked the toast, which you did and then tried to butter it like a piece of sheet metal or you waited so long that the butter wouldn't absorb into the toast. In either case, it says to me that you didn't CARE about cooking my food because you were busy doing other things! This is why you are getting a scathing review. So, the waitress comes back to ask me after I have eaten most of my food, and I point out my bacon dilemna. So, she tells me that she will ask them to cook it more limp. You don't think I didn't get that? So, she goes back and gets me new bacon. I should point out, there is MORE waiting, and VOILA!!! The same boomerang bacon that we are all used to. Then, she tells me that she thought it was the exact same as last time but didn't say anything to the person cooking my meal. Notice, I didn't use the words, chef or cook? That's because they are not worthy of such a title. Does she offer to resolve this issue again, Nope. Once again, more not caring. So, we get our bill and guess who cashes me out. The chef poser. So, she asks me how my meal was, and I explain about the bacon and....wait for it, wait for it....after all, this is what this restaurant did to me. NOTHING! She takes my money, offers a half ass apology and scurries off. What is it with these people?!? For this, I can't give you a good review. As bad as you are, there is no Denny's in sight, so, I may end up back here again. I can only hope you get new staff or retrain this one. I need more caring, better cooking and more conscientious people. read more

Bob Evans is somewhat like a diner. The place was busy but we did not have any trouble getting in right away. Breakfast we had there was good, although the omelettes my son and wife had were more like wraps than omelettes. The egg was pretty well cooked before they put the ham, onions and peppers in the omelette. The items they put in the omelette are sliced into miniature cubes which is less attractive than it would be if they were bigger pieces. But our crew still ate them so I guess they tasted OK. I went simple with some eggs over-light, toast, sausage and bacon. The sausage and bacon are very good here. Pancakes are good too. Waitress was courteous and she was pretty busy. Took her a while to bring us our check but otherwise we enjoyed our stay. read more

This was an okay breakfast experience as far as service and food is concerned. My disappointment was that I am on a low/no fat diet. I asked if they served a margarine instead of butter. I was told that they only serve butter. Not great when you really love biscuits and you have to eat them dry. I spoke to the manager and she said all Bob Evans have stopped carrying margarine. Really now, how much trouble does it take to keep a tub of margarine for those of us that cannot eat butter. read more

Friends and I were on a road trip in 2012; had to make it from SoCal to Albany, NY in less than 3 days. We enjoyed the drive, and ate the snacks we had, and only stopped for quick bites. But finally on our last few hours, we need to get some energy and we stopped here in Erie, PA ! Aaaaammmmaaazing food! Great service!! We loved it here! We waited forever once we were seated for our order to be taken and then it a half hour for our food to come out we had no silver where butter or napkins and waitress brought out raw bacon and our toast fifteen minutes later our toast and bacon came in the mean time we flagged some one down to bring butter silverware and napkins and when we ate the pancakes they weren't cooked all the way through our toast wasn't toasted and swimming in buttery goo the one bright spot was I didn't over eat and the manager tried to give us more food when we cashed out. read more

We have eaten here several times. The food is consistently good. Being in the same parking lot as Splash Lagoon meant we could walk over. Usually we stick to breakfast but this time we had burgers. The waitress informed us that they had switched to new rolls for all their burgers, this one was a potato roll. Delicious, and I hope they keep them. Wait staff is always friendly. Food is reasonably priced. Only complaint is they have too big a menu and it is hard to decide what to eat! read more

We went to the Bob Evans on Peach Street on a Friday morning (arrived approximately 10:45 a.m.). It was busy and we had a 20 minute wait to get a table. It took another 5 minutes for the waitress to arrive to our table to take our drink order, and then another 10 minutes for her to bring the drinks and take our order for food. 40 minutes later the food arrived. Everything was overcooked (eggs, pancakes, french toast). I don't ask for or demand perfection - just basic competence. And this place failed to provide even that much. read more
