I don't know why AAA bothers to contract with Bob Holzer. My CalPoly kid tried jump starting a friends car and ended up not being able to start his car as well. I had him call AAA and ask for battery service and told him to go ahead and get a new battery as the Costco one was several years old and probably needed a new one. Well he waited over an hour for Bob Holzer Towing to show only to be called back and told that because they failed at the jump start that they wouldn't look at either car until it was looked over by a mechanic. WTF? Now my kid is learning how to pull the battery from YouTube videos and having another friend take him to Costco to swap out the battery and having me question what AAA is even for. If you are in San Luis Obispo County and AAA wants to send Bob Holzer towing for battery service you would be wise to ask for another service provider. read more

AAA referred me to Bob for my car battery. When I explained my situation to the Bob Holzer rep, he said it wasn't a car battery issue and dropped me. I ended up going with College Towing for service. The College Towing service rep checked my car battery and jump started it and it was all good. Bob Holzer is useless, don't use them. Not sure why AAA still partners with them. read more

When my 2020 Subaru Forester's battery died leaving me stranded (it wouldn't even take a jump) I called AAA. I was in Avila. I Was told they would send someone and would call with wait time, but probably an hr. We had a call within 10 minutes, and the tech showed up in another 10. Fortunately he tested it, had battery, and we were on our way within an hour. Mario was pleasant, knowledgeable, and got me back on the road. Best customer service I've had in a long time. I might note I had called Subaru to utilize the service I pay annually, which stated in black and white roadside assistance, and also the local dealership, but got the run around. After talking to Subaru yesterday, I cancelled my Subaru plan. Don't waste your money on that. They are the ones who told me to cancel AAA! If you ever need help in San Luis or surrounding areas don't hesitate to request this company, and just hope you are lucky enough to get Mario. Great Employee there! read more

After 49 years with AAA, I was left stranded by Tyler with Bob Holzer's towing in SLO yesterday. My battery needed to be "jumped" 3 times yesterday am, so I called AAA requesting a "battery replacement." They quoted 30 minutes and after 3 more calls and 2 hours later,Tyler shows up "without a battery." He stated "Just because you need a battery, doesn't mean I'm going to bring one." He was uncaring, unprofessional, argumentative and left me stranded stating "We're not the only place you can get a battery." I requested "not" to be jumped again as my battery did not even register and I knew I would end up a little further up the road and potentially in not as "safe" of a location. I drove to Costco and their automotive guys were "amazing." After hearing my story, they set me up with a new battery and directed me to another business that would install it for free. Unfortunately, I never made it. My battery died in the middle of the Costco / Home Depot intersection with 4 lanes traffic surrounding me. AAA responded by sending me an "angel" with a tow truck who said "We need to make this right for you; what can we do?" Although he did not have proper tools on him (as he had been called to tow me to the business that was installing the battery) he went above and beyond and in 5 minutes with limited resources, he had installed the new battery. Being stranded since mid morning, day, I missed all of my appointments, but was so thankful to arrive safely in my garage, over 6 hours after the initial call. Responding to an SOS call for a battery replacement, showing up over 2 hours later without one and sending someone into harm's way was disheartening and disappointing enough. However, the attitude and lack of any empathy, compassion or professionalism was beyond discouraging. read more

Our Daughters car broke down 2 hours from home. We drove to it and tried to fix it but the job was to big and a storm was coming. We called to rent trailers and nothing was available for a week. 2 hours later a gentlemen approaches us and asked our situation. He introduced himself as Jeff and that he owned a towing company. He made a call and within 1/2 hour he had our car loaded and it would be delivered to our home the next day. We truely appreciate the kindness of a perfect stranger. They sold me a "salvage" Toyota. They didn't tell me it was "salvaged". And the title (pink slip) doesn't say SALVAGE! I am going to go to the DMV and pursue this matter! Also they didn't report the mileage. They can be fined by the DMV and I am going to pursue this too! I bought the car for $2300 and had to spend another $2300 in auto repairs within 6 months! That is when I found out it was a SALVAGE!!! Also they a only gave me $300 for my Mitsubishi that was newer than the Toyota I bought for $2300! I feel that they ripped me off. Also one of their employees smokes Marijuana on the job! I know this for a fact because he told me he does. He was my roommate! read more

My car is a 2013 Lexus. It was in perfect condition and the battery went dead. I called AAA and they send sent James Stych from Bob Holzer towing. He tested the battery and determined that the battery had to be replaced. He replaced the battery, jumpered it and started the car. The radio, AC/Heater, GPS and backup camera no longer worked. I told AAA this and they sent another two people out. They told me they were not responsible for the damage to the car and left. I brought the car to Toyota, and they diagnosed that the audio unit had been blown out. This cost $100. The estimate to repair the damage is approximately $2,400. I am sure that the audio unit was blown out during the jumpering and replacement of the battery. I filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau but Bob Holzer Towing never responded. read more

Triple AAA sent Tony from Bob Holzer towing to assist me and from the moment I met him I knew I was in good company. From speaking with Tony I can see Tony is a very dedicated hardwroking employee. Tony spoke only good things about his company. I could tell Tony loves his job. Tony was very experienced at what he does and it didnt go unoticed. Awful experience. My battery died. AAA sent someone from this company. The mechanic at the shop where my car was told him it was the battery. The guy tested and said it was too drained to test and told my husband to drive it to charge it. I'd been doing that. Every time I turned my car off, it died. My neighbor's husband was rushed to the emergency at French Hospital. After her husband was admitted my neighbor called me to give me a heads up and returned to her 2018 Ford vehicle only to find that it started but the GPS screen was stuck on our phone call showing the call time and minutes of the call. The screen was frozen and she had no idea what to do so she drove the car home. I tried to assist her but nothing I tried worked so we placed a call to Bob Holzer Towing Service. The driver, Paul, arrived and tried several things along with cutting off the battery. Paul was efficient, patient, professional and the best. Paul went above and beyond to ensure that the car was functional and showed concern and empathy. This morning when the car was started the GPS had reset and my neighbor was so happy and relieved.
