My experience started with the on-site sales quote. It was approachable, calm, informative without being condescending and I felt a sense of trust. They worked with me on nuances within their quote to a point we agreed. Once the weather cooperated with scheduling, the process was amazingly smooth. I was prepared with leftover paint to match the house and trim areas that needed replacing. They explained what they were doing and what needed extra attention for a change order before they made them to get my approval. They paid extra attention to my specific instructions on esthetics and landscape care. Lastly, they completed on time and had the City complete their inspections, all included in their contract. I was most impressed with each and every employee I interacted with, which is saying a lot if you knew me well. I understand that Bob Jahn has been in business for several years, so I don't doubt that they are capable of doing excellent work. This review is not intended to bash the company. So please be clear that it only pertains to my experience with the installation of a Boral Stone Coated Steel roof. When my roof was initially installed, I noticed some visual/aesthetic issues that didn't indicate the type of craftsmanship you would expect from a professional roofer. In my neighborhood, most homes have stone coated steel roofs, so I've seen many examples of what a good install should look like. Sadly, the worst looking part of my roof is the section that is most visible from the street view. First, on the left hand side of this section of roofing, an extra course of materials was installed and did not match the number of rows on the right side. I immediately called the company and they removed the extra course. However, something still didn't look right. Some of the courses looked wonky and even stretched out at the edges. Also, if you look at the upper middle section, the roofing material doesn't lay very flat. It has a wavy, uneven look to it. Unfortunately, shortly after the roof was installed, I had the exterior of my house painted. The painting company didn't walk on the roof properly and dented some of the materials so I hired Cal Vintage roofing to make repairs. Upon their inspection, they stated that some of the battens were not spaced apart according to manufacture specifications. The roofer also stated that there were some sections of the roof where Bob Jahn's company used extra long fasteners, likely because the batten spacing was off. After some back and forth discussions with Bob Jahn, he had Cal Vintage come out to repair the section where an extra course was initially installed and removed. When Cal Vintage came out to make the repairs and exposed the battens, they explicitly stated that the spacing was off, which was no surprise to me. At this point, I suspect that other parts of the roof have this issue which is why some areas look wavy and visually unappealing. The sections that have extra long fasteners is also still a concern. I believe the roof is water tight, even though the craftsmanship may be off in certain areas. But still, a roof should be installed according to prescribed standards. If you plan on having a stone coated steel roof installed, I would advise that you look into other companies and ask for examples of their work. If I could go back in time, I would 100% use another company for my install. I'm not happy with how the roof looks and will gladly show it to anyone who is shopping around for a new stone coated steel roof. In response to the company's reply, "In fact, we personally took the extra step of covering the cost to have the roof repaired to ensure the issue was fully addressed." I'm not sure how this was taking an extra step. The roof was not installed correctly, so the cost should be covered under warranty no matter what. read more

I met Bob through a close friend and when I needed roof maintenance on my home, I contracted with Bob Jahn Roofing. Prior to the maintenance repairs, they responded to a few leaks with a quick "coverup" which stopped the leaks. The cost for the coverup and the estimate for the repairs/maintenance was fair and reasonable. When the workers came out to perform the work, they were through and completed the work in an expeditious manner. My rental house was way overdue for a new roof. I got 4 bids. Bob Jahn's was not the cheapest, but I picked them because I had the most confidence in their company and their warranty was the best. And their price was competitive. Everyone I worked with at the company was great. The estimator was clear at explaining everything to me, the people who work in the office were super nice and kept me up to date on everything, and the people who did the actual roofing worked so hard, were very nice, and cleaned up well. I also purchased new rain gutters through Jahn's. The installer came and did them and they looked good, but I was disappointed that they weren't done exactly like they'd been before. Bob Jahn's Roofing Reviews I am sitting beneath a very large hole in our dining room wall and ceiling as I write this. In May of 2022, Bob Jahn's Roofing installed a new roof on our home. Just 7 months later the interior dining room ceiling of our home began to show evidence of water damage. After the latest rains in March, we witnessed further evidence of interior water damage on dining room walls/ceiling and damage to the exterior plaster wall. We then hired a former general contractor and city inspector to conduct a water test solely on the gable flashing of our home, and it showed evidence that the flashing work installed by Jahn's Roofing in 2022 had failed. As part of the water test, our hiree opened up the dining room wall and ceiling to observe whether water was entering the structure from the down gable roof area. It was. The water testing showed water actively coming into the attic and wetting the plates and studs etc. We contacted Jahn's Roofing on April 3, 2023 to remedy the situation. Jahn's Roofing immediately agreed to do so the same day and had a construction company contact us to schedule inside plaster and drywall repairs; Jahn's Roofing also deployed an employee to conduct external repairs the next day. When Jahn's Roofing was on site on April 4, 2023, their employee removed the original caulking on the gable flashing and replaced it with new black caulking. He stated that the white caulking installed by Jahn's Roofing in April 2022 was an inferior product to the black replacement caulking material he installed that day. While breaking out the cracking/crumbling white caulk material the employee stated: "It must have been a bad seal... See, this caulking shouldn't even do this, like break up like that. I'm just being honest...I'll need to make another trip once it's cured (his newly installed black caulk) and dried and water test it." He removed all of the white caulk material from the entire length of the down gable roof area which I personally observed while standing on a ladder. I asked him: "So you're saying that it was just the bad caulking?" to which he replied, "Yeah." We have this conversation on video. Then, a few days later, instead of returning after the caulking had cured in order to perform a water test, Jahn's Roofing switched tack and suddenly claimed that the water damage to our home was due to the attic vent. Today they are refusing to cover the cost of repairs. We have opened a complaint with the Contractors State License Board to hold this company accountable to do the right thing. read more

My husband worked with Randy and Tiffany, both who were really great and responsive. The job was quoted at 3 days but they were finished in 2 days. They worked hard and did a fantastic job. The crew did a thorough clean-up after both days and we weren't worried about stepping on nails or screws when taking our doggies out to the yard. We did have dry rot and Elario walked us through, showing the areas and getting agreement to make changes that would increase the cost. We had a leak in our vent fan during the big storm. I contacted a few roofers on Yelp and Bob Jahn's was the most responsive. Scheduled a guy to come out in a week to get evaluated. They called me a few days later and got someone out much faster. They actually showed me some potential issues on the roof and explained a lot in detail. They came out and repaired my T vent and ridges since they were worn down. For the work and time the price was very reasonable. The owner and staff and roof repair workers were super friendly, knowledgable, and professional. Will be getting a full roof evaluation in a couple weeks to possibly have our whole roofs shingles replaced since they are down to the fiberglass. I am happy with my new roof. Ryan stopped by and gave me a quick quote. I got around 6 quotes and Bob Jahn's Roofing came in as the second lowest. I chose them because of their BBB rating and good reviews on Yelp/Google. Hilario was my foreman and was very communicative throughout the process. Some things to consider: FYI after tearing everything down, my entire 23 sq ft roof had dry rot, and I needed a change order of about $4500 to fix it. In addition, in an effort to clean up existing cabling wires hanging around the eaves, I accidentally cut my internet line. I had to call Comcast to come out and rewire everything, so don't do this! Trying to get them to call me back and have an adult conversation is extremely challenging. We had our roof done April 2021 by Bob Jahn's Roofing. The cost to reshingle the duplex roof was over $24,000. Not our highest or lowest quote but we wanted quality work more than anything and we are VERY disappointed. We got a low quality rushed roofing job. Tear-off: The crew worked quickly but left damaged gutters, debris everywhere, and roofing nails in the grass and driveway (bad for pets, kids, and cars). Dry rot: The workmanship to repair dry rot (we didn't have much) was very poor and they left some obvious dry rot (crumbles in your hand) and gaping holes under the eaves. I had to point it out twice and argue with the supervisor to get the final dry rot addressed. The board to repair the dry rot was cut short. I asked for and was told it would be replaced. Instead they shifted all the old boards around and moved the gaps up further under the roof and not the eaves. They lied about replacing the boards and then covered our existing wood with primer to cover their mistakes. We were not fooled and very upset. We received a change order for 40 feet of rafter eave boards to get replaced when we only needed 8 feet replaced. We had to complain and get a supervisor out to adjust the order. Overcharged, poor quality work, and arguing with the homeowner is what we experienced. Communication with the roofers seemed great since they always promised the world but then ended up lying to you. That is very poor customer service. Roof: At the end of the job I had to complain to get changes and am still not happy. The roofers cut the underlayment too short in some places to fully go underneath all the shingles. Some of the underlayment was so long we had to ask for them to cut it back to the shingles. A valley ridge had to be cut back and shingles overhung the length of the gutters. Some of the shingles had sunk in spots and at final walk through we demonstrated a pool of water on the roof and the job supervisor said it drains within a couple minutes so it is technically fine and won't leak. We also had a poor roofing job around our roof-top HVAC units. A HVAC pipe coming out of the roof was "sealed" with a LOT of electrical tape and painted to match the roof!?! They said that is their normal fix. After complaining the company stated they are not comfortable sealing rooftop HVAC pipes since they aren't electricians or plumbers so they left pieces for us to fix our roof. They used so much silicone to fix holes next to the HVAC that it looks horrible, see pictures. We also complained about the poor quality and amount of silicone around the fireplace flashings. The tear-off crew damaged the flashing and the shingle crew just patched it, incorrectly, with a lot of silicone. There are still gaping holes around the fireplace. Cleanliness: The tear-off crew only picked up big debris and not the smaller stuff, missing a ton of nails. The crew nailing down the shingles was messy and left tools and cut shingles all over the roof without any cleanup until the final job was complete. We got a change order for more money after our final bill was issued, and was told it was a mistake after complaining. Some of the workers arriving at our house would ask our renter or neighbor (who didn't hire the roofers and know nothing about the job) what are they supposed to do?!? They should talk to the job supervisor about what they are supposed to do. Too many times the crew arrived and knocked at the wrong side of the duplex, bothering the renter, rather than the owner who hired the company. If it does leak the warranty means nothing if this company plans on "fixing" it. We won't be calling them back if that happens. The roof ONLY looks good from a distance! read more

In mid-January, the storm blew off half our shingles causing rainwater to leak into two upstairs bedrooms, living room, and kitchen. I was able to get the roof tarped in the meantime by another roofing company. I met with 5 roofing companies, but they were very booked out and many of them told me that it would be over eight weeks out until we could get our roof repaired. Not only did Randy have the best presentation, but he was also extremely kind. Their bid was also extremely competitive. Bob Jahn Roofing also had a very packed schedule, but Randy told me he would do his best to discuss the possibility of moving us up in the schedule since our house was in dire need of a new roof. Randy told me that although another company did our tarp, Bob Jahn roofing would maintain our tarp until we got a new roof and re-tarp if bad weather caused any damages to the tarp. I had mentioned to Randy that we were considering canceling our honeymoon so we could stay home to monitor the roof since another storm was coming, and Randy even offered to personally drive by our house while we were gone to make sure that the tarp still held up. After Randy talked to his team, Bob Jahn Roofing was able to move us up in their schedule and sent their team out less than 1 week from the time we met with Randy. They needed the weather to get better before they started. The new roof took three days to complete. The team was very prompt when they arrived, getting there at 7AM each day to work on our roof. They also cleaned up the backyard and all their tools. They even cleaned up all the shingles that had fell from the storm. We had some dry rot, but they reported it to us before they started working on the repairs. The change order for the dry rot wasn't a surprised because Randy discussed it during our initial meeting. Our new roof looks beautiful and most of all ... NO LEAKS! They also have a multi year workmanship warranty and will come back for repairs if anything at all happens with the roof ... which is very comforting for us. Because this was an insurance claim, I needed to continuously submit paperwork to my insurance company. Every time I asked Randy for paperwork ... he would help me with no hesitation, and I was able to get the storm damaged parts covered. After installation, we had an issue with one of our refrigerant lines from the HVAC system coming too close to the roof. Tiffany helped me find building codes to state this. I contacted our HVAC company and Bob Jahn Roofing. The HVAC company was not very helpful, but luckily Tiffany and Randy from Bob Jahn helped us arrange to get one of their specialists to come out and help us with the issue. It's very cold and my elderly mom lives with us, but Tiffany really cared and wanted to help us get the issue resolved as soon as possible. I absolutely trust their workmanship and they are very kind and continue to be helpful. read more

When I first decided to replace my roof, I called one other company first. This company did the usual, made an appointment to come out and access my rooftop. I remember also calling Bob Jhans as a second option. During the appointment of the 1st company, of course we discussed different options and the process. The visit went great, however, my loan wasnt quite complete, so I agreed to keep in contact with that company for scheduling purposes. I ended up taking a small vacation , and totally forgot that someone from Bob Jhans was coming for a roof assessment. I have surveillance and saw Bob Jhans truck parked in my driveway so I quickly called Rebecca. She was so professionally sweet, she told me not to worry, her accessor was speaking with my son and that he left an estimate. From there I made up my mind to go with Bob Jhans because they didnt make a big deal that I was not there at the time of assessment and they proceeded to assist me with a new roof from there while the other company made no effort to call me. I actually had to call them to let them know the status of my loan. The other company informed me that rates were going up and that I may want to at least sign something that would lock me in. Bob Jhans confirmed rates were increasing , however it shouldnt affect me because of the estimate already provided. The other company wanted money down, while Bob Jhans didnt ask for any money until the job was complete. So here we have a company that sat down in person with me to discuss roofing and another company (Bob Jhans) communicated with me by email, text and phone throughout the whole process, and still got the job done. The installation crew was fast, knowledgeable and very respectful. I was delighted to provide them with cold bottled water. Bless their souls, it was so hot out during their project Randy was my point of contact from Bob Jhans which kept me fully updated . He was very knowledgeable about the products and the process from beginning to end. With me being so uneducated with roofing in general, Randy shared opinions that was trustworthy and safe Tiffany, Rebecca and Randy were all very patient with me, when I had concerns or questions, the turn around timing was so prompt when they reached back out to me I also want to give a big thanks to Tiffany for working with me on scheduling, I had changed my mind on a date and then turned around and wanted the date back. This company assured me all of the mess they made while replacing my roof would be cleaned up. After the job was done I found loose nails and even a sheet of nails that goes in a nail gun in my yard. I have a toddler, and I don't need her stepping on a sharp nail. I ended up having to ask for the crew to come back TWICE to clean up things I found, and to finish things correctly that they were just going to leave behind. They moved our drain pipe to another location but left the bracers and screws in the siding of my house. Seems very careless to me.. we had new gutters installed and I have had to ask for them to come back and reseal them since they leak. I don't believe that they checked for leaks before finishing the job. The roof and gutters cost over $12,000 and I had thought for how much money I spent the job would have been done with care. Now it's raining outside and I see my gutters are still leaking. Very disappointing. A roof and gutters are an investment and I feel that the job was not done with care. I should have just moved on when I called inquiring about a roof inspection for the sale of my house. I got some push back from the office staff with something along the lines that they do not do theses types of inspections. When they finally relented stating they would come out for $95 fee, I agreed. About a week later Randy Biddle showed. He stated he would not be accessing the roof and stood in the backyard looking up at the roof and made some comments. We actually had a nice conversation. Since he did not personally inspect the roof himself he would at least have an idea as to the work that might need to be done. I immediately emailed him the quote after he left on Tuesday Feb 23. Crickets. I followed up with him on Friday the 26th. Monday March 1 he responded that he would have a quote to me in "a couple days" It is now Friday March 5 and NO response whatsoever. After getting bids from several companies, I found Bob Jahn's Roofing to be professional and prompt. The salesman who looked the job over and provided the bid was knowledgeable. The workers showed up, en force, and replaced my old shingle roof with the new one in a matter of days. They were polite and courteous. The crew showed up on time. They worked long and hard. The roofing work is craftsman quality. They cleaned up afterwards. Just had our roof redone by Bob Jahn's Roofing and it couldn't have gone better. The tear-off crew has to be commended for their efficiency and clean-up work. The roofers did a fabulous job with little impact on our daily lives and the final clean-up and tag list was taken care of in a few short days. I went with Bob over a lower bid because he did a roof for us about 15 years ago and at how well that roof stood up over the years. Randy and Tiffany and the whole team at bob Jahn's roofing made the whole process of getting a new roof very easy and effort less . From the beginning Randy's Information and friendliness won me over . I had gotten five estimates of other companies on Yelp and got to hear five different company's tell me what was needed to be done and their prices . It really helps you decide who to go with after hearing them all pitching to you about roofs and comparing... Randy, by a mild stone was the most prepared, answered all my questions, took the time to explain to me in details step by step process , man this guy was the only company rep that had shingles in the his truck to show me !!! Every one else just gave a brochure or couldn't even explain the difference between different company shingles. This guy really knows his stuff !! We were standing across the street and I remember him naming all my neighbors roof colors and shingle types . I guess when you do it for so long, it comes natural ... Tiffany .. I don't even know her but the way she talks to you it's like you have known each other for years and your like really close buddies or something . We had Bob Jahn's roofing replace the roof for our cabin in Truckee. We used them based on a recommendation from my neighbor who has previously used them. The job was completed within the time frames quoted and as promised. The workmanship was great. I really appreciated the fact that the area was kept clean and I did not find alot of nails or other debris scattered around the jobsite. Bob is very knowledgeable about roofing. He upgraded my roof with venting and other features which were not in the code when the old roof was originally installed 30 years ago. None of the other quotes included these code upgrades. (I did some research and found out that indeed these improvements were necessary.) I'd recommend Bob and would use him again! read more
