Damaged my wheels, promised a repair, then ghosted me. Several weeks ago, I was in for routine maintenance after which they offer a free car wash. When they brought my vehicle out, I noticed black spots on the hubcaps on the driver's side, but it looked like smeared dirty oil and I thought it was either that or someone was sloppy with whatever they applied to my tires during the car wash detailing. I figured it would wash off in the rain. We had a really hard rain a few days later, and afterwards I noticed the black patchy looking spots were still there. I decided I should get something to wipe the substance off, but as I was getting ready to do that, I realized there wasn't something on the wheels at all. What was actually going on was the gray powder coating was peeling off in patches revealing the black metal underneath. It was at this point I realized all four wheels were damaged and peeling. I wanted to make sure I hadn't just missed seeing this damage before, so I pulled up the video Bob King sends to customers when the vehicle first goes back to the service bay. Sure enough, the video showed close up views of all four tires and every one of them was intact and had zero damage. No peeling whatsoever. I called the dealership and they told me to bring it in so they could view the damage . After looking it over, the service manager and the person who oversees car washing employees said they couldn't figure out what had happened to the wheels. They also claimed at that time that they don't even touch wheels/tires while doing their car washes. This tire claim was a lie and was the first red flag for me that they were going to try and avoid responsibility. I knew it was a lie because I had seen the menu for car washes posted in several places inside the service advisors' area that very day, and even for the most basic car wash it said that they did clean the wheels and tires and apply ArmorAll. I left the dealership that day with the service manager saying the matter was above him and he needed approval from a higher up to authorize a repair because it wouldn't be cheap. It wasn't just a matter of popping on a new set of hubcaps; the actual wheels are painted, and the vehicle would have to be taken somewhere to have that done. While waiting for them to get back to me, I started to get a bad feeling and decided I should go back and get a photo of the car wash menu. I went in recording with my phone the following day. Curiously, the menus, which had been posted in several places, had suddenly gone missing. The advisors I spoke to (without revealing why I wanted to see one) hunted for the menus at each of the stations and throughout their area. They were confused because they knew they had been there previously and said so on camera. While I was doing this recording, I saw the service manager I had spoken to in the distance, and I believe that he either saw and recognized me and saw I was recording, or the nervous employee I captured on camera told him why I was there, because before I could even get home he called me to say they were going to make sure and get my wheels taken care of. This service manager said he wasn't sure what method they were going to employ to get the wheels repainted, but because they didn't do it on site he would have to find a company in the area that did it. This was on a Friday afternoon, so he asked me to give him Monday and Tuesday of the following week to call around and find a place, but said one way or another the wheels would be taken care of and they would also provide me with a loaner vehicle while the work was being done. Those few days have now turned into weeks, and they will not return my calls. Thank goodness I have video evidence of how my wheels looked before and after and of the call during which they told me they'd do the repair. I had hoped to avoid small claims court, but I can't let this rest. I have called around for an estimate myself, and I'm getting a price of about $650, which I am guessing they also got when they called around, and that's why they're trying to renege on the promise to rectify their screw-up. FALSE ADVERTISING!!!! BAIT AND SWITCH! BEWARE of their "complimentary" oil change and tire rotation. I purchased a Genesis SUV a few months ago. It's quite a drive from where we live, therefore did not plan to travel there for service. I received an email that my oil change and tire rotation were "complimentary." The email clearly stated that valet service was not included but that the stated services would be "complimentary."The "complimentary" service was over $400. I spoke with the staff who stated "I noticed that's what your appointment was set for and I'm not sure why it was." Also "unfortunately there's nothing I can do..." I bet they make quite a lot of money on this FAKE complimentary service. We will no longer use a business that does not honor its word. I am filing a complaint regarding repeated service issues at Bob King Kia, located at 1725 Link Road, Winston-Salem, NC 27103. My wife, has purchased two vehicles from this dealership (a 2022 Kia Truliant and a 2025 Kia K5) and consistently returns to this location for service. Unfortunately, we have experienced ongoing problems with inaccurate communication, service delays, and inconsistent customer support. On December 22, 2025, my wife brought her 2023 Kia Truliant in for a scheduled 12:00 p.m. oil change. She was told the vehicle would be ready by 1:15 p.m. When we returned shortly after that time, she was informed the vehicle would not be ready until approximately 4:00 p.m. She was told her keys had been placed in a different service queue because she did not remain on site, resulting in the delay. The vehicle was not pulled in for service until approximately 2:45 p.m., well after the originally communicated completion time. Earlier this spring, my wife purchased four new Pirelli tires from the same location. One tire developed a slow leak the next day. When she returned, she was told nothing could be done. Only after I personally went to the dealership was the tire replaced. These incidents demonstrate a pattern of poor communication and service handling. Customers should not be penalized for leaving during scheduled appointments, nor should accurate service timelines be repeatedly miscommunicated. We are requesting that Bob King Kia address these service process issues and provide assurance that appointment times will be honored, concerns will be handled consistently, and customers will receive accurate information moving forward. read more

I spent $ 2,400.00 on a repair, only to take it back the next day because an ESC Off light appeared on the panel that wasn't there before I took it to them. How do I work and pay for repairs when the repair causes more problems and inconvenience? It's bad enough I was charged for five hours of work that didn't take but 3 1/2 hours. Having posted a review of Bob King Kia on Nov. 12, 2024 that called out Bob King Kia for its utter failure to 1) notify me, as the owner of a new 2024 Kia Sorento, of the need to schedule maintenance service appointments during my first year of ownership;; and 2) its on-going breach of and failure to make payment with respect to its July obligation to make reimbursement payment to me for warranty repair expenses as documented to the dealership in correspondence dated July 27, 2024. With the date of this supplemental review now being Nov. 13, 2024, the Bob King breach of and failure to meet its warranty reimbursement contractual obligation now extends to 109 days and counting. Stay tuned as there will another review updating the clock for the number of continuous days wherein Bob King Kia chose to ignore its clearly documented warranty reimbursement to a customer and there will be news posted of a law suit against this Kia Dealership seeking payment to me as Plaintiff for (i) unpaid Warranty reimbursement expenses, (ii) legal expenses incurred in recovering what is owed me by Bob King, (iii) Imposition of such Sanctions as a court may deem fit to impose; and (iv) should there be recovery possible under consumer fraud statutes, such recovery will be sought as well. As to at least one good thing Bob King Kia has done since my initially posted review on November 4th consists of the future plaintiff actually having sent its first E-mail notice to me on November 12th the first and only Kia manufacturer maintenance service recommendation provided to me, which recommendation I appreciated and which I will follow, but not by taking my Sorento to the dealership Service Department, in which I have neither trust nor confidence. Haggled a bit but as a return customer I did not overpay. I got a 2023 Kia Telluride. Love the new vehicle very roomy. It has a smooth ride also! The technology that is built in is state of the art. We had put down a deposit on an incoming vehicle. It arrived but dealer did not notify us. I had to inquire and they at first gave me a low offer on my trade. I haggled some more and got almost what I paid for vehicle. I was overall happy with the experience. When they say call me if you have questions they don't mean it. Please be very careful when buying a certified used car from this place. Be warned that they are being very deceptive about their used car sales. They are putting "Kia Certified Pre-Owned" insignias on the window sticker and there are signs all over the place that say they are selling these certified used cars after passing a comprehensive inspection and replacing or repairing anything that doesn't meet the standard. I learned the hard way that this is a lie. All their signs say "Bob King Kia Certified" which basically means they aren't actual Kia certified vehicles. They are doing a cursory inspection at best, slapping a 12-month warranty on them, and implying that the cars meet the Kia Certified standard. There were a number of things I found on my car after I got it home that did not meet the Kia Certified Pre-Owned standard, despite the window sticker indicating that it did. When I reached out to the dealership for clarification, they admitted that they are misleading their customers at best, outright lying at worst. All this to say, learn from my mistake and look over their certified used cars very carefully before agreeing to purchase. Do not place any trust in their claims of a comprehensive "164-point quality assurance inspection". All they seem to be doing is driving the car around the lot, changing the oil, and then slapping a Kia Certified sticker on it. read more

To add to the horrible experience with bob king Kia in Winston Salem .I went Tuesday to the dealership to have explained why my engine was an exception and didn't have a warranty, even talked to the manger and never mentioned my car had damage from another car on their lot. I went to have my car towed out of there today after 8 weeks of "nothing" and told I can't. The car was being repaired in their body shop. No one told me of this damage, no pictures of it, claim filed or consent to do any work in my car. I was not going to be told if I didn't try to go get my car today. I'll update this depending on if the service department gets it together by Monday. As of right now it's April 15, Friday. My mother took her car in to her regular mechanic (not this dealership) and he looked at the car. It was running a bit rough but after he looked at it he said it needs a software update, so that's what making it run rough. He said the rest of the car is in good shape. Nothing is at the point that it needs replacing immediately. He couldn't do the update because that requires equipment he doesn't have. So she took it to this dealership for the update. Well now my mothers car has been sitting at this place for over a week and they haven't even managed to run a full diagnosis on it yet. Not only that, but they've been stringing her along it seems. Nobody said up front oh it'll be two weeks before we can even look at your car. They've been telling her "it'll be a couple days" every time she calls to ask for an update because they aren't telling her what's happening. It's the only car she has and now she's spending way more than she can afford on a rental because the shop won't provide her a loaner car even though they're the ones keeping her car for at least two weeks because apparently "it's impossible for them to get to it faster than that". Which is a separate issue on its own. If your shop is taking weeks to even look at cars you owe it to your customers to help them with transportation in the meantime. Then they called her and said they think it needs a new engine a couple days ago. Now. They said can't get the car in to actually look at it yet somehow they're telling her it needs a new engine. If you "can't get it into the shop yet" how can you say it needs a new engine? You haven't even really looked at the car according to what you're telling me. My mother takes care of this car because it's the only one she has. I know that for a fact. I was just in the car myself a few weeks ago and there was absolutely nothing to suggest the car was in such bad shape it needed a whole new engine. I went up there myself after driving down from Pennsylvania where I was working. Asked them to clear things up because so far nothing is making sense and my mom doesn't even know what's happening. She's stressed out and running out of money for a rental. Won't have anything left to fix the car at this rate. That's when they told me they knew from the start that it wouldn't be til next Monday (almost two weeks from when she brought it in) that they could really look at it yet they didn't tell my mother that and told her it'll be a "couple days." This reeks of a scam and if she doesn't get a call Monday saying they actually fully looked at it, are actually able to explain what the issues are (cause so far they haven't told me what's wrong. Just saying it needs an engine they think? But can't say WHY it needs it or specify WHAT EXACTLY is wrong.) and agree to just do the software update and stop bullshitting trying to make her pay for a whole new engine I'll probably have to call a lawyer. I don't appreciate people jerking my mother around and they should be ashamed of themselves for being so seemingly deliberately vague and then after another mechanic looked at it and said there wasn't much wrong with it besides needing that update, turning around and trying to sell a whole engine to an older woman on her own with a limited income. read more

I scheduled an appointment on April 24th to have repairs done to my 2006 Kia Sedona. Three things were to be done. 1) Perform recall work on electronic part 2) Check car for starting problem 3) Check car for door locking problem - automatic lock would not work. On April 30th (6 days later) I got a confirmation text reminding me of the appointment that was scheduled on May 5th. In part, I took the week off from work in case they had to keep the car overnight as it is my primary ride in going to work. On the afternoon of May 4th between 4:00-5:00 in the afternoon KIA called me and said that the appointment had to be delayed. I though, OK, if they want to have it brought in Thursday instead it would be fine. However, they wanted to delay the appointment for TWO WEEKS! I said it was unacceptable as I had already taken off work to have this done and it was wrong to postpone at the last minute. After the associate consulted with someone off the phone, they accepted that I would be bringing it in in the morning. Why did they want to delay it two weeks when it wasn't even scheduled that far in advance? What could have possibly been the reason and why did they schedule it so closely if they had that much work ahead that they must have known about? I brought it in at 8:00 AM and was taken home by the KIA driver. I didn't hear anything and had to text the representative at after 3:00 in the afternoon as to the status of the repairs. On Thursday morning, I was contacted via text that the cost would be $260, $130 for diagnostics on the starting problem which involved cleaning and reattaching a ground wire. There was no extra cost for this repair. The other $130 was to diagnose the door lock. I was told that it had been repaired and that it had been installed wrong. This sounded fishy to me as I have been the owner of the car since 2007 and it worked up to about a year ago. Oh, and they recommended another $2762.36 in repairs that I was not there for. The last time I had had the oil changed they had spilled some on the engine block and it caused an odor. I had been watching the oil levels and they had not gone down from when the oil was changed. Most of the 'repairs' were because there was oil on top of the engine block and engine seals needed to be replaced. As if. I took the car home and then discovered that the door lock was not fixed at all. It still had to be manually locked or unlocked from the inside. On May 6 I got a text from the Service Manager asking how the service was. I said a 2 of ten because the door was not fixed. The customer liaison called me back on Friday (May 7) and arranged for me to bring it back in on Saturday. I took the car back first thing on Saturday morning, May 8th, and the associate confirmed that the door did not work. That was it. No mechanic looked at it. I was told that they would have to order a part and would have to bring it back in for the repair. A further appointment was scheduled on May 21 - another two weeks out. I got another service reminder on May 16 about the appointment on the 21. I had the car in at 7:00 AM on the 21st and said I would be waiting until it was done. I was in the waiting room for over 5 hours with no communication. At almost 1:00 PM the customer associate came in and said that there was a list that I needed to approve for recommended work. It was the very same list that I declined at the previous visit that recommended an additional total of $2762.36 in repairs. The real problem is that they spent that much time diagnosing the car and not working on it. It was at this point that I was informed that they weren't able to work on it because they had to order a part. I thought that was what the other two visits should have shown them. At this point, I declined the work and took the car home. I tried contacting the service manager multiple times and was totally ignored even when leaving messages. I got called two weeks later to rate their service and gave them an earful. Still no response from a manager as of July 21st. I asked to speak to a manager and to have the 'diagnostic' (re: fixed charge) fee of $130 returned for the door lock since the problem was not fixed. I will not bring the car back into the shop a fourth time. It has already cost me three vacation days and the gas to make the three trips to the dealership. There has been no improvement in the problem since the beginning. I would not recommend this garage at all for anything except recall work which they are obligated to fix for free. They seem to just want to push poorly vetted repair work and then not carry out what they were to do in the first place. read more

Ricardo in the repair inspected a repair and approved it. When I overlooked the car i noticed a horrible paint job with dirt under the paint and bubbles. also upon inspection there were visible swirls in the paint as well. I asked for the GM James and they said he would be out in a minute. I have waited an hour for him and nobody has come to me. Ricardo got a very bad attitude with my 16 year old so. when he question him about the work that they had done. the service here is not recommended what so ever. I'm just went back in and they are now telling me James has left for the day. James knowing I had an issue that needed his attention decided to duck out and leave a customer lingering the showroom. way to make sure your customer is always satisfied. Finally when we go into person he was very rude & nasty saying it wasn't his problem because we didn't buy our car from him but we brought I there for service & he wouldn't even bother to listen to what I had to say. Took my car into Bob King Kia collision center to get a bumper fixed and a sensor repair after my car was hit in a parking lot. I drive a 2018 Genesis G80 Sport and am very careful with who I get to work on my car. After reading some reviews I was nervous about taking my car here, but I figured with what appears new management, I'd give it a try. Ricardo Aravena is the guy who helped me and is the manager I believe. We had a mishap as the bumper was fixed but then the sensor was messed up (not by their fault) as the bumper hit swayed the sensor off. Ricardo explained this to me and since I did not go through insurance (which I would not recommend) he returned a good deed and recalibrated my sensors for free saving me money. Long story short, Ricardo is my new go to person for any car repair after he treated me, how he did the right thing, his way of explaining it to me, and ultimately his character in solving a tricky situation really impressed me. I am not sure where the recent reviews came from, but this body shop part of Bob King Kia ran by Ricardo is one of the best experiences I had with a tricky situation. 5 stars from me read more

I got my 2023 Sportage from this location. My car is less than a year old. Today a tiny pebble hit my windshield and shattered half of my windshield. I don't understand how a new car could take this much damage from such a tiny rock, this sounds like a flaw with Kia. I was told by my sales associate, Loraine, that I'm SOL and will need to pay almost $1,000 to have my windshield replaced. Be very careful with the service AND parts department. Was quoted 1 set of tires but they put a different set of tires on. Since they were put on, they could not be considered new so they would not take them back. The only description that the quote gives is the description of what a tire is. Service writer was told on 3/15/2024 and 3/28/2024 which tire I wanted, which were OEM. Warranty covers car rental...but not so fast.This billion dollar business wants you to do leg work to get rental, put your credit card on file with rental company, have you put down a $250 deposit then pay for the length of your rental, then you go online and submit paperwork and wait 8 to 10 weeks to get a check !! All because their piece of shit car broke down with less than 50k miles on it. Bob King Kia people are rude, they make you leave a message on their machine, absolutely no one calls you back. Ordered a 22 KIA TELLURIDE back in June. I made it clear that I do have another vehicle that I may or may not trade in based on trade value at the time of deal. Its also noted on invoice that the trade value would be appraised on deal. Fast forward to today I get a call saying my vehicle has arrived. I ask them if they were willing to come up on the trade in value based on info from their site and they said NO. I mentioned that was fine but wanted to still move forward with the deal. FYI: I had plans to sell to another company should this happen so I wasn't to worried about it but then after 5 months of waiting they tell me WE DON'T WANT TO DO THE DEAL UNLESS YOU TRADE YOUR VEHICLE. What?!!!!! They also said since the vehicle is in high demand we can find another buyer at higher price. I think this company is disgusting to do this to a customer. I wanted to share my experience because this is beyond unprofessional. Also, FYI I did factor in sales tax and the how trading it versus selling out right would make a difference. Selling out right I still would've come up by a few grand. read more

I took my car to this dealer and no one seemed to know anything. I made an appointment for April 20th on April 13th and upon my appointment, I was informed about a bunch of unexpected fees that were not brought up when I made the appointment. I returned today, April 21st, for the appointment. I waited all day with no update or status about my vehicle. I called up to the dealer for the an update and the member I spoke to did not know what was going on and gave me no information. In my opinion, they didn't have any of the correct information about my appointment or any information at all!!!! I can't say I'll be returning. Highly disappointed. read more

Took our van in for the rear bumper to be painted on a Monday morning right when they opened. Was told by multiple people it would be done by Wednesday. Didn't hear from anyone on Wednesday. Called them Thursday, they didn't know when it would be done and it sounded like it hadn't even been started. Said they'd call me Friday. They did not call. I called again, they said it was being painted. It was there to be painted in the first place so why did we take it in on Monday and they decided to not touch it until Friday? Was then told it would be done that day and detailed and cleaned. Went to pick it up and it was not detailed or cleaned. Don't know why they like to lie. They also scratched the driver side door - asked me if I was sure it wasn't there before. Thankfully took pictures when the van was dropped off. The scratch was not there before, it was their doing. Anyways, don't take your car here. Awful. If you're running behind fine, but call your customers to let them know. Customer service here is beyond terrible. read more

We have been calling this business, including the manager, with no call backs. This has been ongoing since Sept. of last year. My key fob was stolen, and at first we were told that there were "no extra on this planet." We will never darken their door step again! Also, their repair shop is lacking as well. We are highly disappointed! read more
