My coworkers and I first time here and it was not that great. My coworker from Massachusetts recommended it since this restaurant is known for there lobster rolls. But we were disappointed by it. Even my coworker from Massachusetts felt bad because it was good before. Now it went downhill. I got the lobster roll with fried avocado and lobster corn chowder. The lobster was all right. It tasted bland like no sauce. I thought the lobster would have butter. My coworkers had the sriracha lobster roll and I should have gotten that. The lobster corn chowder was very disappointing. It tasted like they just microwaved it. My coworker thought the chowder was a bit salty. Sad, this place went downhill via my coworker. The service was very quick. The ambiance is cool. It gives boat vibes. This restaurant is okay but I don't think I will go back. It is truly disappointing. My coworker from Massachusetts grew up and he was disappointed that our first lobster roll was a bust.

This place reminds me of a gator grill I stop for food in the Florida Everglades. It's set up just like the little shack with wetlands behind it. Lobster poteen was good

Went to plum island for the first time and saw that Bob lobster was a top recommendation. I got the large lobster roll with a side of small fries. It was pretty pricey for the amount and I wish I saw what a regular lobster roll looked like to compare. The lobster was good but had small pieces under the bigger ones. The bread was also super dry. The service was okay and we were able to choose our own seating. Not sure if I would go again but if you want something right near the beach or the walking trails, give it a try.

If your day needs a booster, then opt for a lobster. At Bob Lobster they foster the finest from Gloucester. It will cost ya' a lot, sir, I mean, we're talkin' lobster, but these babies are monster, like Nomar on the roster. So, let me be your tipster, when it comes to lobster, When you're done with your meal, throw that shell right in the dumpster, Or your house might stink worse than low tide on the harbor. And if you're not an east coaster, don't fluster or stutter, go to the counter and ask, "hey chief, how much you charge for a lobsta?" So drive fast to Bob Lobster, don't let anything stop ya' Not even a mobster from Worcester could keep me from lobster! Don't settle for an imposter, just opt for the master, and that's Bob Lobster, the all time OG of good lobster.

2-way combo fried oysters and scallops - SO good!

While biking recently on Plum Island, my husband & I enjoyed a delicious fried seafood lunch. There was plenty of available parking in the afternoon. There may be more on the other side of the building as well. Nice bathroom accessible at the back of the building was appreciated. We shared the 2-way combo with oysters and scallops, which came with good fries and coleslaw (in a perfect amount of light dressing, not drowning it). Lemon wedges on the side. The breading on the seafood was light and tasty; the scallops in particular were cooked perfectly - so tender and moist! Fountain drinks (pink lemonade and unsweetened iced tea) were adequate. Alcohol was available. Prices reasonable. There were a few people in line ahead of us to order, but the line moved very quickly. You are given a pager that vibrates when your order is ready. Ours came out so fast, in about 5 minutes! A lot of people seemed to be picking up food to go. There is a small indoor eating area with A/C. We were able to snag a table outside under a covering. There was a nice breeze and it was a good spot to relax on the marsh. When we passed by on our way home around dinnertime, and it was much more crowded - with overflowing parking and a line out the door.

So DIRTY. Dis-gust-ing. There were flies everywhere. The bench seating was covered in grit. A real health hazard.

Stopped by Bob Lobster with my 80 year old father, who is large and tall and has a walker due to Parkinsons. 2 Fish & Chips and 2 waters $53. Then they silently flipped around the checkout with a 20% to 35% tip. Ps No table service. In fact no service or help whatsoever. Food was ok. The main problem was that they have a step down into the dining area that a walker can't manage. This could be fixed for less than the cost of the $15 theft tip. I had to personally manhandle my father down and then back up the step to eat. I'm 60 and he is 100lb heavier than me. Staff could not have cared less. It was really tough. Avoid this place. Over priced and they actually don't care. What a shame. Money over service.

Food is good. But the environment is not ideal. Found flys inside and outside. Also it took a while to find a parking spot.

Thai Chili lobster roll. The lobster is battered and deep fried. Other things there great too, but this is everything.

It is one of a handful of restaurants in Newburyport that continued strong (Park Lunch, the Grog, Thirsty Whale). It has a view of the Merrimac river and is next to the rail trail. The inside decor is classic and probably hasn't changed in decades, but it is comfortable and has that Oceanside charm. The service is always good. Christin has been our server a couple times and she is wonderful - funny, attentive and suggestions. You're always seated quickly. We sat on the outside, covered seating. The food is classic. We started with their clam chowder. That is excellent. The stuffed clams are probably the best in Newburyport. The iceberg wedge salad is amazing with generous blue cheese and bacon on a nice crispy wedge. Probably one of the best values in Newburyport. The onion rings are crispy and tasty. The fried clams are some of the best in the city. You can get a Budweiser for under six dollars. The prices are a good value with lots of good food. Don't expect fancy. But if you want to have an old school seafood meal, the Starboard Galley is the right place. If you want to grab a beer at there, old bar, enjoy it at a great price point.

Amazing! Best Italian food around. Ashamed we never tried this place until now…read more Pasta, bread, drinks, salad....all excellent with fair portions and fair pricing. Very small and intimate with friendly and authentic staff. Yes, they tell you there is an hour time limit but we stayed over an hour and no one told us or pressured us to hurry up and leave. In fact, or bar tender said to take our time and asked numerous times if we wanted anything else. And it was on a VERY crowded Valentine's Day night. The people who are complaining about being told to leave after an hour are almost certainly pretentious jerks who think they can just sit at a table and talk and not order any drinks or food. When your meal is over...it's time to leave. We never felt rushed or pressured the entire time we were there and had and amazing and relaxed night with excellent food and drinks.

As someone who considers a well-constructed savory cocktail one of life's finer pursuits, I was genuinely excited. The hostess was lovely, warm even, but informed me that without a dinner reservation, the bar wouldn't be available until 9 pm. I was not welcome to simply sit and have a drink. I asked -- politely, I'd like to think -- whether an exception might be made. I was only in town for the weekend and promised that I could be in and out in twenty minutes but the answer was an unambiguous 'no'. There's something particularly unwelcoming about turning away a solo guest who has sought you out specifically for something only your restaurant offers. I came because Carmine does something nobody else does, at least nowhere I've found. And I was unceremoniously turned away with nothing to show for it. I understand the math. A Saturday evening at a restaurant like this lives and dies by full dinner covers, and a solo drinker nursing a cocktail for twenty minutes does not move the needle. But hospitality, real hospitality, has never been purely a numbers exercise. The irony is that I adore this restaurant. The food is spectacular, full stop. Had I possessed a second stomach, I would have happily demolished the Tonno Royale Spaghettini without a moment's hesitation. Carmine has earned genuine loyalty from me as a diner. But a Spicy Sicilian remains, for now, on my list of unfinished business -- and that is a small, specific disappointment I wasn't expecting to leave with.
