Truly a great buying experience. Over the past several years, I purchased my cars via various dealerships internet managers, where the deal would already be in place prior to my arrival. However , since I needed to set up a test drive for the CPO BMW X5 , I contacted Bob smith BMW in calabasas and received an immediate phone call from Hovik, my sales rep. I was somewhat not looking forward to completing the buying process from square one. However , as soon as I went to the dealership and was immediately greeted by Hovik, I knew this would be a great buying experience. After closing a deal on a car and spending hours completing the paperwork (including running a credit check), we arranged to pick it up the following day. We spent 3 hours traveling to the dealership, only to be told that the car was still in the detail shop and not ready. But the real frustration came when they hit us with a last-minute price increase of $1,000 without any valid reason, and even tried pushing us toward a different car that was $2,000 cheaper--but with the same monthly payment we originally agreed on! The entire experience felt unprofessional and shady, leaving us with no excitement about the purchase we'd been looking forward to. They wasted our time and ruined our Friday afternoon. read more

I just returned my lease (320i) with Bob Smith. I want to firstly say that I am glad I am done with Bob Smith and honestly BMW in general. I definitely don't consider myself a difficult customer and I am in general very understanding. There are a few issues that I had with my experience the past 3 years, some to do with Bob Smith and some to do with BMW policies. Here are the problems with Bob Smith: (1) I have never been to Bob Smith where I haven't had to wait at least 20 minutes for my SCHEDULED appointment for either service or regarding my lease return. Every time I come in I am asked to wait UNLESS I am discussing leasing a new car, then all of the sudden everyone's eager to speak with me. I noticed this with other customers as well. As soon as someone walks in wanting to buy a car, everyone's all smiley and prompt. (2) Along the same lines, the customer service is awful each time I go in. When scheduling a standard service, they ask me if I need a loaner car. How the heck should I know? You're the one doing the service and should know how long it normally takes? Or maybe always have loaner cars available for customers? What kind of service is this for a luxury car dealership in a nice location like Calabasas? Tip: They will most likely not have loaners unless you request one online beforehand. Don't wait for them to ask you in person when you are getting service. (3) NO ONE answers their phones or emails. No one. I have had to do some workaround for getting in touch with anyone. I called and emailed one salesperson for 1 week straight and then finally resorted to getting transferred to another random salesperson on the second week who finally directed me to another person who still didn't answer my calls or emails. Finally their assistant answered me at the very last minute. (4) When you do finally get in touch with people, they're just rude in person, unless of course you wish to purchase a car. I'm not going to name anyone but when they read this they'll know who they are. Be nice to people. It's good life advice in general.. (5) When I got the car, the salesperson told me any scratch less than a dime size would pass when returned. I have never hit this car anywhere. I am extremely careful. It is others who open their door when it's parked in a parking lot and hit my door that I cannot control. Little did I know when I returned the car that if for example three of these types of marks are right next to each other, this counts for one giant area that needs to be charged for. WHAT??? No one said anything about this. Ever. I understand if it's a large scratch but they weren't. It's not fair to tell people one thing and then charge them later on. I also want to add that I returned my car with 16,000 miles UNDER what I should have had because I moved for work closer to home. Give me a break. (6) Lastly, this is just advice if you decide to still lease from them given all of this: You will need to pay for your tires upon return, which is fine. Do not pay the $300 per tire they charge you. BMW needs special run flat tires. Get them from F1 Tires on Lindley in Chatsworth for $95! You are welcome. Now onto BMW policies: (1) $350 lease return fee unless you buy a car. No joke. On top of changing the tires, charging you for little scratches that you didn't do, and not caring whether you are significantly under mileage, they still charge you this. (2) The general bureaucracy of BMW. Every time I would ask to catch a break on fees for something given how many miles I didn't use, the people at Bob Smith would say "that's just BMW policy and when the car goes back to BMW, they will charge you for it." Why were so many things based on this bureaucracy? If this is true, BMW really unfairly treats customers and makes it really difficult for people to enjoy their experience with their car. All these fees that I had to pay really left an unpleasant experience in my mind. OVERALL I would give one star but I gave two because there were like 3 people who were nice at BMW. We brought a 2016 X5 early in March to Bob Smith BMW to get diagnosed for water damage by our insurance and here our problem has been started. The damage had a potential of total lost, but this is not how it worked with these people. The car value is around $17k and they charged me near $16k and I have all the invoices. They started to send invoices with smaller amount to my insurance to get their work started and once I figure out it was already too late, I had to pay $5k for they investigation on water damage. Make the story short after 2 months of keeping my car in their shop we got our car back with 1. interior damage, driver carpet is missing, the rest of the carpets that supposed to be dry and clean it was all dirty. 2. Check engine is on 3. They assembled the head unit unprofessionally with no screws and I found it out while driving and heard something is loosed behind the dash. 4. They messed up the sunroof alignment after they have done water test. now its clicking and bracket is completely detached. 5. They had to uninstall the engine and the exhaust base on their invoice and now I hear rattle noise from the exhaust of something underneath and now HEAR THIS: When I returned the car back to their shop for correction they REFUSED to fix what they have missed and they ask for diagnosing fee and still they won't fix anything. I've been purchasing BMWs from Bob Smith since they had a dealership on Topanga Blvd in Canoga Park. Took my car in for service today and when I went to pick it up I noticed a small sign stating there would be a transaction fee for using a credit card. I could understand this if it was a small repair shop but I believe this is totally unacceptable for a dealership. Especially for a high end dealership. As if labor charges aren't high enough, I paid an additional $16 for using my credit card. Had I known, I would have brought cash. You should advise your customers of this policy at the time they make their appointments. In my opinion, it's a very poor practice. read more

Do not take your car there for service. No wonder why their service drive is empty. I took my car there because i had a flat tire. Service advisor Juan recommended doing a recall as well as replacing my tire that would take approximately 2-3 days which i agreed upon having a loaner. The time was approximately 12:15 He stated the guy in charge of the loaner (JAVIER) was at lunch and he would be back in an hour. I came back after an hour not only he was still at lunch . The advisor was at lunch. The manager in charge was at lunch and they said to come back at 2. Seems like they shut down the whole service opperation at once so they can all have their lunch. Once JAVIER came back from his 2 hour lunch i asked him for a loaner and he rudly responded who told you i have a loaner for you. Needless to say if im taking my 118k car there for service i'd expect a better customer service i told Juan to pull my car out of service. At least Juan was respectful, unlike Javier. I was reluctant to go to BMW since my car is out of warranty knowing that I might pay quite a but. I called and scheduled an appointment with Dennis Chavez. He made no promises, got me a rental and sent me on my way. When he finally texted me, he said the car was ready and the price was $0.00. Of course I had to clarify his text. Dennis was so thoughtful, professional and considerate in handling my car. He explained that after an initial repair something "blew" again and he determined that this was happening due to a known issue that apparently I never had repaired before. On my behalf he asked the warranty team to please have the repair covered because of this known issue. I was blown away. Dennis covered everything. This has never happened to me before, anywhere, anytime. He was the consummate professional that day and I appreciate his empathy that he has for his customers. I bought a pre-owned X5 from Bob Smith BMW in Calabasas on Feb 28, 2025 with 17,000 miles on it. The sales department had installed 4 new tires and done oil & air filter changes and inspections. However, in late May (2 months later with adding 1,500 miles) the car's oil service light was on, and we sent the car to the dealership for oil service. The dealership charged us $199.2. The dealership performed the oil & filter change when we bought the car, but it failed to update the car's computer system. The mistake was done by the sales department, but the service department insists I should get the credit back from the sales department. It's a very bad practice for the dealership's reputation. read more

On my way to work today I slipped off one of my rings to moisturize my hands, and it fell into the mechanics of my passenger seat. I panicked. It's a very sentimental ring. I stopped by Bob Smith BMW after spending a lot of time trying to find it myself. It had slipped into the abyss of the seat's mechanics hidden by not so easy to remove parts. I pulled into Bob Smith BMW as a final desperate act after spending a significant time trying to pry the components of the seat apart myself. A couple of the young greeters solicited the help of more experienced service technician, and after about 15 minutes were able to remove some of the parts of the seat to find my ring. Went to Bob Smith to lease a X Drive 50 Electric SUV. To say they were rude is an understatement. We got a price from a salesman and we told him that we wanted to think about it overnight. He said he might be able to do a little bit better when he saw us leaving. We said we would think about it and might come back the next day. When we can back the following day our salesman was busy. We were told to talk to a different person and we explained that we wanted to get their best and final price. After talking to a manager, this new salesman came back with a higher price. When we told both the manager and the salesman that we were quoted a lower price the previous day from the original salesman, they said "OK - goodbye".
