***DO NOT BUY FROM THEM!!** If I could put negative stars, I would! He sold us a car for my 23yr old daughter that was "in great condition with extremely low mileage." One and 1/2 months later smoke was pouring out of it, and 2 separate and reputable mechanics determined the car needed a new engine!! They also determined it had been sold to us already damaged due to the issues and codes showing on their computers! WHAT??! The car had 42,000 miles! It definitely shouldn't have needed a new engine! When we went back to him to see what could be worked out, he was a No-Show for our appointment and would do nothing to help in rectifying the situation! He plays his customers as a great guy, family man (with colored kids drawings on his office walls) and is selling cars in a great area, but he is a snake in the grass! His business is scamming people of their money! He could care less if the car you buy from him works after you pay him and drive away. Keep your money, keep your safety (and potentially your life), and buy from someone else who has integrity and is selling vehicles that are safe to drive and will last you at least a reasonable amount of time. ***UPDATE 2*** My car is finally fixed but the mechanic stated that while replacing BOTH batteries he found that the box behind the battery was welded on the inside so there would have been no way for the car to code and show there was an issue with the batteries. ***UPDATE 1*** Finally heard back from Tom who literally told me "good luck" on getting help through legal avenues since that they would not be helping me. Also, when I purchased the car Tom told me my car the T5 was a 5cylinder vehicle when in fact it is 4cylinders. Also now they found an oil leak. So its $5000 on top of the $16,000 for the car on top of the $4,000 for the Gold Standard warranty. Tom did mention that he has seen my reviews so that is a plus but I am not done yet :) The owner is listed as Voronkov Dimitry if anyone knows this person you might want to let them know how Tom is ruining their business. On 11/13/2021 I purchased a 2015 Volvo XC60 from Tom who explained to me the vehicle was as is but that there was a policy that I could purchase that would cover my engine and transmission (along with a few other things) for 3yrs AFTER the 3yrs my engine and transmission was covered for life. Since I had to come back to work (in the office) I felt that even though the car had 90,834miles the extra insurance would cover me (Gold Standard Automotive Network). I drove the car less than 400miles and my dashboard started lighting up, I immediately took the car to Volvo and this is what they found; Pads and Rotors in the front - $873 the insurance is offering $200 Thermostat replaced $671 the insurance is offering $370 ECM Module $1,969.31 the insurance isnt offering anything towards this Battery replace (the car is a turbo so it has 2 batteries) $572 the insurance is offering $150 Engine Mounts (there are 3 needed out of 5) 1) $479, 2) $169, 3) $704 the insurance is offering nothing towards any of them stating (wear and tear that I should have seen before buying the car). Oil Filter/Change $141 the insurance is offering $80 Bumper Cover (Labor Only) $92 the insurance is not covering anything towards that My Total $5999.92 my Gold Standard Insurance is willing to pay $730.07 I learned from a Lawyer that 1 - One general rule is IF you pay for the 'warranty' it is not usually a warranty, but instead a service contract with different rights and remedies; 2- Another general rule is IF they sell you a service contract they may NOT sell the car "as is." Of course this was not explained. They were able to see that the codes on the vehicle were erased 2 days prior to me buying the vehicle - so even if I had a code scanner with me I would not be able to see the codes once they were cleared. I haven't even made the first payment on the loan (I did get a GREAT rate from my Credit Union so that good) but for now I have to fight this out with the insurance and Volvo - I drove the car less than 400miles and its looking like I will have to pay over $5,000. The Lemon Laws dont apply to my car so I am looking for an Auto Fraud Lawyer, if anyone knows of one please refer. For now I urge you to stay away from this Dealer, Tom only sells by appointments and im sure that's how he is able to have the cars "ready" for sale. Im sure he will never see this and probably doesn't care if he does but Tom you ought to be ashamed of yourself, I brought you basically a cash sell and you continued to tell me how good this car was and if there were any issue that the Gold Standard Insurance I bought would definitely help me, that was $4,000 down the drain to only pay another $5,000 a month later. I would love to wait for Karma to do her thing but for now I will be finding Legal Counsel and im also contacting the Federal Trade Commission, The Better Business Bureau, the DMV Investigations Division and the Bureau of Automotive Repair. This is a review of the experience buying a used car from this place. It is not a review based on owning the car for more than a few days. I may come back for an update later on, reviewing this particular vehicle. Now, the people who wanted a better experience and so left very low ratings may not have enough experience buying a used car. I do. Gone are the days when I stupidly fall in love with a brand new car and pay whatever the dealer asks for it. Been there, done that, wised up. I have had luxury cars all my life. Among those, I grew up with Cadillacs, Jaguars and Mercedes. I had two Mercedes -- great cars. But I have also had several Volvos and I like them best for practical and now cosmetic reasons. My first car was a Volvo when I was in college, my most recent cars have been Volvos. I know a lot about Volvos, so when I decided to get a "new" Volvo, I knew exactly what to look for. I also knew what to expect when going to a used car dealer. I don't expect them to hold my hand, flatter me, appreciate me. After all, even though I am sure they make up to a 100% profit on each vehicle, used car sales don't make billionaires. All I want is an efficient, polite, respectful sales person to let me ask questions and inspect the car. This place had that, did that. Tom was all these things. He was fair and he even made things a bit more convenient and reasonable. The price was good. I was willing to pay it, because I wanted the particular model, exterior finish and interior appointments that this vehicle had. I have been looking for about 5 months, so when I saw this, barring something really bad, I believed I would get it. Tom was responsive every time we contacted him. Everything went as he and we agreed from start to finish. He allowed our mechanic to spend an hour going over the car thoroughly. Our guy gave it a clean bill of health. Was the car flawless? No, of course not. Most of what was "wrong" with it is cosmetic and can likely be fixed for a modest price. It is a gorgeous car and that helps. It has the premiere package that someone paid for up front when it was brand new. I got the benefit of that with all the depreciation removed. Now, the one little disappointment was how dusty it was outside. They have a once a week cleaning service and we missed it. There was a fire that spewed ash all over the Valley -- can't blame the dealer for that. Once we washed it (just go down the street -- there is a decent car wash on Reseda Boulevard nearby), it looked beautiful. Believe me, I will be back here updating this if I find something catastrophic to report (look at all my reviews. I don't pull any punches). Also, I only buy cars I can pay for in cash now. So, I save up, see what I have, and select my vehicles accordingly. If you want to finance, go lease or buy a new car. If you want a used car, you have more power with cash. Simple as that. I bought a 2009 Audi A3. I asked these guys, "If the engine blows up on my drive home, are you guys going to help me fix it?" They said, "Oh of course. This is a family business!" Before I get home, the check engine light turned on. Multiple codes. Estimate to fix the first set of problems is $3500. I couldn't even get them to reimburse spark plugs. This place is absolutely trash. I came yesterday, 7/30/22, and talked to the salesperson named Georgey. I had made an appointment with him to look at a used 1999 BMW Z3 that I had seen online. I came with my friend, and this is where I started to get very annoyed. Georgey turned on the car, and I informed him I would like to test drive the vehicle. He was VERY persistent in literally getting me to purchase the car prior to test driving it. I clearly told him that I will not purchase anything until I drive the vehicle. He was very adamant, and stated a "new" issue he didn't notice before on the vehicle. He now mentioned that the windshield had a crack (as if he hadn't noticed that before) and stated that it would be illegal to drive the vehicle like that, UNLESS I was okay with purchasing the vehicle with the crack, then we could take it out for a ride. Somehow it was illegal to drive with a crack on the windshield but if I was okay to purchase the vehicle, THEN it becomes legal. How logical! This place needs to teach the sales team how to actually do SALES, because I was ready to buy the car then and there, but because of Georgey's adamant behavior I will definitely be taking my business elsewhere. Just a reminder: NO CUSTOMER WILL PURCHASE A USED VEHICLE UNLESS THEY TEST DRIVE IT. read more

Spotted a rare early 07 dodge 2500 5.9 Cummins on cars.com listed by SoCal Auto. I messaged them in regards to a pre purchase inspection and an out the door price. Tom responded to my request promptly and gave me the otd number. He agreed to let my diesel tech come look at the truck on his lot. However, after the inspection my diesel tech called me and sent over a report/pictures. Engine wise the truck was in good shape. Cosmetics and rust weren't great but acceptable for a 13 year old work truck. My problem came with the road test of the vehicle. The mechanic stated that the truck at speeds over 40 was tracking and starting to wobble. Sign of front end suspension problems. Not uncommon on 3rd gen rams. Upon the recommendation of the mechanic I passed as I am over an hour away and he stated that driving the truck on the highway was unsafe in its current condition. Three stars for Tom's promptness and allowing inspections. I truly believe they have nothing to hide. It's always up to the consumer to do their due diligence. However, I did subtract stars for them selling a potentially unsafe vehicle. read more

After reading all these terrible reviews on Yelp I still decided to come over to this dealer to check out 2014 Toyota Prius. Surprisingly, the car was in very clean condition. I mean the car was very clean, no dents, nice interior etc. I took it for test drive and everything seemed great! I could not believe it so I decided to take this car for pre-purchase inspection, where everything checked out fine, just a couple things here and there needed attention (which I believe is reasonable for used car with miles) Overall, the car was fine and mechanic said that he would buy it if he would be me. Stay away from this place. I purchased a car from them, that also, like so many have mentioned in their reviews -- appeared to be in great shape. Engine looked great, super clean, supposedly good carfax. I bought their awful warranty as well which at least has covered a small fraction of what I've had to repair on this vehicle. I have now spent over 7k on fixing this car. My mechanic found so many janky fixes that were hidden but revealed upon taking apart the fuel line, the supercharger and more. I have never had this awful of an experience with buying a used car. Every person I know that owns this vehicle loves it -- seems I got the one that never had it's oil changed. Gold Standard Warranty is also one to avoid. They are so cheap and difficult and try to get you to only buy used parts. I have not had my car for over 2 months because it's been stuck with the mechanic while he fights with the warranty company. So no car for 2 months and Gold Standard will cover 1-2 days of a rental car at $30/day. Super helpful, right? This is my first review --I've never been as upset as I am now but feel that I need to warn potential buyers. read more

The financing is not from their establishment but something I sought after myself without their help. At least state something to customers if there is any chance or interest. STAY AWAY!!! I Called and spoke with Tom on a Sunday. He informed me I would need to get pre approved before I could come test drive the car. I do so and he ignored my calls/text for 5 days. He then notified me that I was declined for the loan. I asked for him to send me documentation to my email, in which he said the bank would send it to me. I did my own research and contacted the bank. The bank informed me I was approved for the loan. I then sent the screenshot to Tom. He has still yet to reply to my text. While staff is friendly and hands off in the beginning... I had a pretty negative experience trying to negotiate the price of a car I happened to be interested in. After test driving an SUV I came back the next day with my mechanic to check things out. The car was in very good condition but as my mechanic noted that a few things (timing belt, shocks, transmission fluids, etc) prevented this car from being worth full book value. When I pointed this out during our negotiation, the guys at Socal: 1. Tried to tell me that my mechanic didn't know what he was talking about. 2. In the case of the timing belt actually said that Southern California doesn't have a dry climate resulting in a longer lifespan of rubber parts. 3. My mechanic noted that the front shocks needed to be replaced. They replied that the shocks were in fact new (when I asked for the proof this transformed into "our mechanic says they look like new".....) 4.Reasoned that the price they were asking (book value) meant that there were no major problems/things seriously wrong. Keeping up with manufacturer recommended maintenance was not a factor. There was more but these are the biggies. I'm going to assume that the other folks who reviewed this dealership paid book value and disagree with me (or didn't bother to do their research) on my 4th point. Maybe I am being picky but to me, book value doesn't mean no major problems... it means perfect in every way: if youre suppose to change a belt at 105K or 7 years... it is done. If it isn't... the car isn't worth book value. I didn't end up coming to an agreement with Socal Auto which happens in business. read more

Bought a Range Rover from these guys last week and while I've bought a lot of cars in the past, used and new, I can't say I was that impressed with the overall attitude of this dealership. While it may not seem like a big deal to the dealership, the reason I'm writing this review is because never, and I mean NEVER have I bought a vehicle from a dealership where they didn't detail the vehicle (or at least wash it) and fill it up with fuel on delivery. But there's more. I picked my vehicle up at night and unfortunately had to go to work right away, so I didn't even notice how dirty it was and that the fuel was basically on empy, until I got to work which was only 8 minutes away and the fuel light came on AND the engine light (which never went on when I test drove it). When I called about this and talked with my salesman, he mentioned they were having a hard time keeping cars clean because of the fires up north and that they don't neccesarly fill up their vehicles upon delivery. Well the truck was dirtier than it was when I test drove it about 3 days before, and the point is you wash it before the customer comes to pick it up, period. My salesman knew I was coming and I could just tell that it hadn't been washed all week. Yes the sale went smooth and my salesman was helpful, curteous and nice...but overall I just don't see much pride in this dealership and the fact he didn't even offer me a fill up or a wash or detail even after calling and discussing it didn't impress me. What impresses me is trying to impress the customer and having pride but apparently they feel they don't need to do that for some reason. Of course it was sold "as is" and all but there's also a pretty serious fuel issue with the truck where you can't leave a gas pump in the gas tank neck because it just shuts off. You can't even sit and hold it because it shuts off. And if it does happen to stick and work, it will overflow. This isn't something that can be tested when test driving it so that's a bit dissapointing too. Maybe this is why nobody bothered to gas it up? Hmmm. Sorry guys for the not so great review but I just paid you a lot of money for a vehicle. You'd think that would mean something. read more

3 months car needs new engine - thanks shady car people! the car shut off while driving - we could have lost are lives.....

After looking long and hard for a used low mileage Mercedes ML, I found the best deal at SoCal Auto Group. I drove an hour and a half to get to the dealership. They do their best to find low mileage luxury vehicles and price them very competitively. They are a volume dealership so don't expect to be pampered.....they won't serve you coffee, rub your feet or detail your car- if you are expecting that, go and spend $60K+ on a new luxury car. Understand that buying USED is a bit of a gamble; hell, buying new is a bit of a gamble too. SoCal doesn't have a crystal ball and they cannot see the future of every car they sell. They do however reduce your risk and provide free CarFax reports for every car on their lot....and that was extremely helpful for me. I did my research online and knew I was buying a quality car. I read on the free report and knew that the car had only two owners and was maintained by a Mercedes dealership most of its life.....oh, and it was never involved in any accidents. This is no guarantee of a trouble free car, but it is much better than buying blind. Tom helped me with the purchase and worked with me on the price. The transaction was friendly and timely. Also, he got me a killer deal on new tires saving me over $500. I didn't care if the car needed a $6 car wash, I figure I saved well over $3000 on the deal (compared with what else was available online at the time). I was able to research the vehicle's history and am confident I got the absolute best ML for the price. read more

Absolute worst experience buying a car. I bought a 2016 VW Tiguan from them about 2 months back and the car has been nothing but a lemon. They had supposedly done an oil change before I picked up the car. The first day driving it home, the oil sensor light comes on! So I call them and they tell me to take it to their mechanic. He supposedly changed the sensor and lo and behold, two weeks later, same issue. Next the right headlamp were not working. Again took it to their mechanic. Light worked for a week or so and went out again. They have horrible communication when you try to contact them. I became so frustrated I finally took it to my own mechanic. When he looked over the vehicle, the oil in the engine was like mud. THERE IS NO WAY THEY HAD CHANGED TO OIL. The car has an oil leak which needs to be fixed too. So far, above the price I paid for the car, I doled out over $1500 in basic repairs. My warning to anyone going here is beware. If I could rate them a negative, I would. read more
