Read this, then read what's in the photo…read more This was a terrible experience with a "company" and "contractors". In working with first-time homebuyers program, I reached out to Justin for an estimate. The estimate was $200 and I sent payment via Zelle to someone named Chandler Megel. I should have ran for the hills after this, but he was helpful, kind, and I thought he was an honest man. Fast forward to entering into a contract with the company, the initial work we agree on was $5,000 , minus the $200 for the estimate, so it came down to $4800. I sent $2400 to Chandler via Zelle for the deposit. The materials got delivered and when the rain let up, Justin was scheduled to begin work. Monday, September 11th, 2023, the 20-yard dumpster was delivered to our driveway, and on Tuesday, September 12th, 2023, the work began. Maybe 2 hours into the work, Justin and Chandler came to tell us that what they could see of the wood on our roof needed to be replaced, and that it was supposed to be $4,600 per side. We had three sides, so if they had to replace all wood on all sides, it would cost triple that + $5,000. After "verifying" that all sides needed to be replaced, they asked to come inside of our house and discuss. They asked "how much money can you give today?" I told them that we had the money we already planned to pay them ($2,400) plus another $2,500 and we could put $1,500 on our credit card. They "called their boss" and "got the price down" to $7,200 + $5,000. After this, we paid them $4,000 via Zelle. At this point, we have paid them $6,600 and told them we could pay another $1,500 when they "got their credit card system working". After day one, around 8pm, Justin and Chandler came to me to get the additional credit card payment. They called someone named Mary, who we later found out is Justin's mother, and took payment over the phone. At this point, we have paid them $8,100 and only have one side of the roof completed. Clearly, this was my fault for paying them prior to even half of the work being completed. Day 2 comes, and Justin catches me on my way to work in the morning, and tells me that the numbers I crunched last night and sent to him were "false" he told me that I owe them another $1,900 that day based on the numbers we discussed yesterday. I told him he was probably correct and that the Zelle limits prevented us from sending all that we had yesterday. To avoid any issues, I sent Chandler $1,900 via Zelle. Another stupid decision on my part. Now, we have sent them $10,000 total, and still only have 1 part of our roof complete. Justin told me he would still be here at 7pm when I got off work, but he texted around 3pm and told me they were done for the day and they would all be back tomorrow. While at work, I started to get a bad feeling about all of this, and began to research the company because I realized Justin originally made me believe he was the boss, and now his story was changing. I called the Maryland Home Improvement Commission to verify the company and a woman named Brenda was not able to verify Justin's name, the company name, or the license number they provided me. Now, I realized they had provided me with a fraudulent license number, they were unlicensed contractors, and we had already paid them $10,000. I never saw Justin again. I had previously asked Mary and Justin for an updated contract to reflect our new agreements and our new scope of work. We requested any permits they got from the state of Maryland for the work, the warranty document that would be submitted to the state of Maryland, contractor and subcontractor names and license numbers, and a letter that they said we had to sign for a payment plan.I asked them for all of this to provide to our lender via the homebuyer program we worked with as well as our homeowner's insurance company. Our realtor let us know that if we did not have this information, we would likely have to tear the roof off and get it done again. I finally received the updated contract that indicated the money we paid and the money we owed. There was no itemized list of work done or cost of materials/labor. There was still a fake license number at the top, and we did not get most of what we requested and there was no communication about when we would receive it. The subcontractors came back the following day and finished work. They cleaned up most of the debris and threw everything away (including leftover brand new plywood). Thursday, September 14th, 2023 at 6:28 pm was the last time I heard from Justin. He told me Mary (his mother) would send all documentation and paperwork. I sent three additional messages to Justin, and never received a response.

This is a terrible business. The roof service I got comes with a 5-year waterproof warranty…read more Shortly after the service was completed, the roof leaked again. I called and was told the crew will come. They never came and then never responded to me again. One year later, the roof continues to leak. I called again and they told once again, a crew will reach out 24-48 hours later. That never happened. I have since called several times and my number was most likely blocked by them. In short, this company is at best non-responsive, at worst being dishonest and never intends to honor their warranty.
