So I must say that this was place was a godsend. I was on my way to a week long booked in advanced equestrian retreat in Spring Mills, PA (which is a three hour car ride from Philly) and the car that I rented from Hertz in Philly seemed to have low tire pressure. This was not made aware to me until after I received the vehicle. Going into panic mode, but still trying to stay calm under pressure as I was in a bit of a time crunch, I first went to a gas station (Sunoco) in Conshohocken to see if possibly they would have a repair area or mechanic and they did not but fortunately the attendant there was friendly and when I inquired about a tire shop he advised me to go to "Gulf". We googled it together and it was about a five minute drive from the gas station I was at. I pulled into the lot and you can tell these are down to Earth people because they didn't seek me out like vultures and they didn't badger me or bother me about waiting in their lot as I was trying to resolve the issue on the phone with Hertz Rentals first. I sought out assistance after being on the phone for several minutes and first entered the shop and was greeted warmly by two different gentlemen. One of them I later learned was the owner and the other the owner's son. I was very impressed by the level of service I received because I was definitely having an emergency moment not knowing whether or not Hertz would send me a new rental or if I would have to have the spare tire placed and drive back to Philly and cancel my trip all together. Fortunately Craig who was so kind and helpful, took the time to speak with me, bare with me while I was on speakerphone with Hertz, and pay mind to my dog who was probably very thirsty and very confused about what was going on. Craig took the time to speak on the phone to the Hertz representative (and my father who was assisting me through the phone as well) and he willingly obliged with their requests. He was able to give me info about the spare tire I had and this was all done impromptu as I had no appt., they didn't have my contact details, nothing. I just pulled in, walked into the shop and asked for help as I was in a bit of a pickle. Craig recommended that he could simply inspect the tire to see what was going on. He also checked the psi tire pressure for each tire as well. I was beyond grateful. He was actually more helpful than the Hertz roadside assistance rep. He told me to move my car closer to the shop so he could take a look at the tire. He brought some portable crank like lever to elevate the car and take the wheel off. He unscrewed it and then told me that the tire had a leaky valve and that he easily and quickly replaced it. This was all the while the Hertz Rental Car Rep was giving me and my dad the run around. Craig was truly a godsend and I told him that I don't know how many times because if it wasn't for him I would have had to return back to Philly and not go on my trip. I later came to learn that his father was the owner of the business so it's family owned. Makes total sense. You can definitely tell they run a good business. I told Craig that I wished to give credit where's credit's due and asked to speak to his boss so I could express how grateful I was and compliment his service and he told me that his boss is his dad. Go figure! So I told Mr. Wilson thank you as well and he was just as amicable as his son. Thank you to this shop for fixing the car. I was able to drive safely to my destination and keep my booked reservation. I highly recommend. read more

I'm not one to normally write a review but this business is so bad that I felt compelled! Please keep in mind that this was all due to a miscommunication between the owner's son (Craig) and the owner (Bob). I was running a few minutes late to drop off my girlfriend at her hair appointment, and there was no safe parking anywhere on the street, so I pulled into the gas station right next door to let my girlfriend out, and walk her to the front door of the salon. While opening the car door for my girlfriend, I saw an employee of the gas station (who I later learned was the owner's son Craig) and asked if it was OK to park there for a FEW SECONDS. I said "It is literally going to take longer to explain why I need to park here for a few seconds than it would to just go and come back." He said "what are you doing?" so I told him that I was just dropping my girlfriend off at the hair salon next-door and would be right back. As I walked next door with my girlfriend to the salon and said goodbye (this took no more than 40 seconds at most) and turn to leave the salon, the owner of the Gulf Gas Station (Bob) comes bursting through the front door of the hair salon exclaiming "You can't park there!" I tried to calm Bob down and again explained that I had asked one of his employees if it was OK to park there for a few seconds but before I could finish my sentence, Bob interrupted me and said "WHO DO YOU THINK YOU ARE!? IF YOU HAD ONLY ASKED WE WOULD HAVE HAD NO PROBLEM WITH YOU PARKING THERE!" That's when I again told him that I DID ask. He stood there with a befuddled look on his face and said "Who did you ask?!" as I described the kid that I asked to Bob, he quickly responded "NO YOU DIDN'T!" To which I replied "Yes, I did." and I then asked Bob if he had surveillance video that he could review to prove what I was saying was true. Bob confirmed that he DID have video but wouldn't be wasting his time reviewing it.... It was at this time that the kid (Craig) approached us and started recording video of me on his cellphone saying things like "Well it's 2019 so this is going online for sure!" and making crude remarks about my girlfriend. It was around this time that the THREE POLICE OFFICERS pulled up...and Craig discreetly put his cellphone back into his pocket. At this point I'm in total disbelief that this is actually happening, and to put things in perspective, a total of about 5 minutes had gone by from the time I parked there to the time the police arrived, which means the owner called the police immediately... It was while explaining everything to the police, and apologizing that they even had to waste their time with this nonsense, that I learned Craig is the son of Bob. To sum this all up, the owner said he would not have had a problem if I had "only" asked. I did ask. The owner questioned my integrity. I asked him to review his video surveillance so he could see for himself that I was telling the truth. He said no. And then he called the police. Now there's a police report over something as lame as this... This business is a joke. This is NOT the "old fashioned times gone by place" they claim they are, and if you ABSOLUTELY NEED GAS...there's a Sunoco Gas Station right down the street. Go there instead. read more

That's crazy I'm old enough to have a car place but ANYWAY...I've been here twice for 2 separate issues: 1) a nail in my tire, which they patched up and fixed real quick 2) an oil change which they also did very quick Both times, I was very pleased with the service and price. This place is super close to my work, so if I need anything done again I'll probably be back during my lunch break. Bob Wilson Gulf was slammed, but they still took my vehicle and provided service DAY OF! I have brand new tires, and the jackass here tried to tell me that I needed a tire change BEFORE he would inspect the car. Did absolutely nothing and tried to charge me $98. I guess he didn't factor in that I was a paratrooper, and tried to punk me. Bad move, guy. I called the police to resolve it. They came quickly, and he dropped the price to $25. Told him I'd bring him to civil court for it and put him on the news. He then just gave me my car back, free of charge. This review is solely based off of one experience. Because why wouldn't I get a flat tire shortly before a blizzard was due to come into town? I had convinced myself that I would be fine using my donut instead of a tire for a few days, since I live within spitting distance of my job. Unfortunately (or perhaps fortunately) my boss found out that this was my plan, and threatened my job (probably not really) if I did not get a new tire before work the next day since there was a massive blizzard coming in that night. This meant I had to find a new tire the next morning and I had to give a place about a two hour window to get me a tire and put it on. The first place I called was Bob Wilson's Gulf. I told them my tire size, and they said they had them in stock. When I asked if it would be possible for me to come down right away to get it changed.. they said no problem! I literally had a new tire on my car within 30 minutes of making my phone call. Such a lifesaver. I did find it a little strange that the guy began working on changing my tire while I was still in the vehicle! Instead of giving me a verbal warning, he just started jacking up my car. But still, a lifesaver. I was done 15 minutes after I pulled into the parking lot, and the price was reasonable. Thank you so much! read more

Will never go here again. Was in a pinch and needed to get my car inspected ASAP. Was told it would be $98 for the inspection. Guy calls me and tells me I need new tires, oil change and to have a code cleared before he could pass the car for inspection. I picked up my car and was charged $98 for basically having my car hooked up to a diagnostic machine. I then took it to my normal mechanic and had it inspected and the code cleared for $50! I was greeted by bob who was nice and friendly. Both took about 45 minutes. The service was fast and done right!! He definitely seems like a honest guy who gets to the point. Be cautious when entering into business with Bob Wilson's. I am a Conshy local, living and working in Conshy, and took my car to Gulf for a state inspection, emissions inspection, and an oil change to satisfy state transfer requirements. This first interaction was fine, I picked up my car on a Thursday afternoon and thought I was done. Friday, not even 24 hours later, my car was stuttering and lerching when accelerating. I've owned my car for 6 years and have NEVER had this issue. The next day, my emissions light came on and I took my car back to Bob Wilson's because I felt like the emissions issue was directly related to the work they did during the state & emissions inspection. Make sense, right? I received a call a few hours after dropping my car off, saying there was a problem with the spark plugs and they needed to be replaced. The total would be somewhere around $220---$95 for the diagnosis/labor, $98 for the parts plus tax. (Keep in mind that I wouldn't have even gone back a second time if I knew they were going to charge me for what I felt was a problem caused by them.) Apparently the spark plug damage was so bad my car couldn't be driven off their property. At this point, I was dissatisfied and left like it was too much of a coincidence for a service light to come on 24 hours after their work, AND that they were not willing to acknowledge the coincidence and waive the diagnosis charge...I knew there was an issue, that's why the light was on, I argued that I didn't need to pay $95 for them to tell me that when the dealer agreed to do that at no cost (which I confirmed with the dealer.) Again, the only reason I took my car back here was because I believed they were going to fix what they missed/caused during the inspection. I tell Bob over the phone I am coming to get my car to take it to the Mini dealer, where I trust the work. He says he has to "put the car back together" so I can take it somewhere else, but it will be $95. I never agreed to have them start work, and no one ever called to receive permission from me on the charges and to start the work. I only wanted them to fix the damage I believed they caused, and if they wouldn't do that at no charge, I would take it to a trusted dealer for the work instead. I went to the gas station in person to make it an easier conversation to have, took a witness with me, and after some discussion, Bob agreed to not charge me the $95 diagnosis fee, but only for the parts---around $120 or so when tax was done. I agreed to leave the car, which was my only choice I was told, because they "took it apart" and needed to charge me to put it back together. (My car has a smart key that runs the diagnosis by plugging in the key to a scanner...they didn't need to take my car apart.) At a few points during this in-person conversation, Bob couldn't keep his story straight: they had to take my car apart and it wasn't drive-able so I had to leave it there to get the work done; they plugged my key into a scanner and really didn't take it apart; the labor cost was for taking my car apart (but was it taken apart?!)...the initial quote of $220 didn't include labor, it did include labor; the labor & plugging my key into a scanner were the same thing, they weren't the same thing; Mini gave me wrong information...you get the point.) The next day, I went to pick up my car after work, Bob wasn't there, and I am shocked to find a bill waiting for me for $212, after we had a conversation and agreed the labor/diagnosis fee would be waived. I have the worker call Bob, who relays to me there's nothing to be done. I pay, because I don't want to leave my car there any longer than necessary with an unreliable and shady business, and plan to call Bob the next day. I just got off the phone with Bob, who tells me that both me and my witness misunderstood, he never agreed to waive the labor/diagnosis fee, and the total is what we agreed to. He "can't do anything," the light coming on the day after their work was all a coincidence, what I paid is the price we agreed to (not true, because they would have to ask me to start work and never did), and now the diagnosis and labor are two separate things. Basically, he quoted me $220 and that didn't include the labor, but when I questioned the charge he said he took the labor cost off and the $220 was the rate we agreed to. Needless to say, I will NEVER be going back here. They do shady business, they took advantage of a mid-20's female, and at this point, I thoroughly believe there was an existing issue with the spark plugs they failed to fix during the inspection, only to have it act up the VERY NEXT DAY. Too much of a coincidence and they can't be trusted. I want to support small, local businesses but not at this cost. Trust the other negative reviews. They may do good work for some, but not when it too tempting to make an extra buck off people they think don't know better. read more

What a rip off. Went for an oil change and to get tires rotated, but when I returned to pick up there were additional charges for coolant and windshield wiper fluid, making the grand total over $70. When I questioned where the additional charges came from, they told me "well you needed them" Both of these I did not ask for, and could have done myself. This review is based off of a one time experience. They took me quickly for a Saturday appointment. I requested an oil change and it was done in 2 hours, which was fantastic. They did a few other maintenance things that I didn't request though, which is frustrating because I only wanted an oil change. It was for my mother's car who lives out of town and she handles the rest of the maintenance elsewhere. We could have added windshield wiper fluid ourselves. Wasn't thrilled about the bill and lack of explanation for it at the shop. I didn't ask questions about the charges because I was frustrated and just kept it to myself. If I wanted the extra maintenance, I would have asked for it. Would probably visit again if in a pinch, but guess I'll have to emphasize to only take care of what I'd like done. I think it's bad business to charge people for things they don't ask for, regardless if they need it or not. read more

The belt broke in my car, stop there for an estimate and hear previous customers complaining about bad things they have done to their pockets, so I stayed just to find out my case, they gave me a price way over the original cost of a belt, it was clearly they reap off people there, my estimate came up to almost $400, just for a belt replacement, just to find out the OEM, price was $60, and they told me the price was 260, and the rest was labor, took my car to dealership and cost me $120 to replace belt with labor included... the people there reap off customers read more
