B8. Lemongrass Tofu Banh Mi (Vegan)
    Smileey F.

Vegan review - Oat & Almond milk options; the boba was fresh and plenty in the cup! - Lots of Banh mi; I tried lemongrass tofu and it felt fresh with crunch to the veggies and the tofu had a nice spongy texture. - The staff were friendly to me and had a decent pace considering just two on the floor and steady foot traffic. - Very limited parking but easy to find I will be grabbing more when I'm in the area - yum!

First time having the sandwiches from here. Grilled chicken was great - not too big or small. The honey milk rice tea was great. Boba was a little more squishy than I like but it wasn't overly sweet for the 25% sugar level.

Yummy Banh Mi! Crunchy baguettes and good bread to meat ratio! They have some seating and they also serve boba! Boba was refreshing and the tapioca pearls were good.

I came to Oakland to deal with some tax issues in the afternoon and attend a Yelp event in the evening. I had not yet had a meal, so I decided to stop by here to grab a bite before the event, since I knew only light bites were being served. I used the in-store kiosk to place an order for the summer sunset tea (added boba) and lemongrass tofu banh mi. Upon taking my first sip of tea, I was surprised it had zero flavor. I stirred it some more, thinking it just wasn't mixed well but still nothing. At best it tasted like colored water with sugary toppings. I asked the bobarista if he'd mind remaking it. He kindly agree to redo it. On the second round, it came out looking way more vibrant, leading me to believe that perhaps an ingredient was omitted the first time. At any rate, I was happy they fixed my drink. Moving on to the sandwich, I found it incredibly hard to stomach, literally, as the bread was as dry as croutons. I picked at it but mostly ate just the filling. Honestly, I don't think this location is as good as the Chinatown location which closed and also not anywhere close to the same as Binge Coffee House in Berkeley. The best I can say about this place is that the staff are friendly and accommodating, but the drinks and food could use improvement.

A surprisingly good banh mi and Viet coffee spot located in Oakland. The Banh mi was super fresh with a crispy baguette and well-balanced fillings (Grilled Pork was delicious, and I love it with pepper, picked vegetables and cilantro). The egg coffee has a rich creamy flavor. I recommend getting it less sweet. Definitely worth trying if you want something fresh and different :)

Boba and popcorn chicken... I see why it's called Boba Binge. This review is based on a third party delivery order. The popcorn chicken was honestly some of the best I've had. Super crunchy on the outside while still juicy and well marinated inside. The pieces weren't tiny or all breading either, there were actual chunks of chicken. They also add basil which made it really aromatic and elevated the whole thing. It came with a sriracha style sauce on the side which added a nice kick. I also got the watermelon tea and it was super refreshing with real watermelon pulp. It still had a light tea flavor which balanced it out really well. I obviously won't be able to come here often since I don't live in SF, but next time I'm back, I'm definitely making an in person visit.

    Matcha Tornado

Ordered through doordash, got it really fast! The matcha tasted more so like oreos & milk and pretty sweet if you're into that. Idk why but the white part of the oreo now tastes pretty artificial now. Not blaming the drink, just in general i think it messed up the flavor of the matcha drink. I'll most likely opt for no oreos next time. The Thai tea tornando just tasted like regular thai tea nothing crazy i thought it was going to be more chunky in the middle but it was only spreaded on the cup same as the matcha tornado. I'll try other drinks and the food options next time!

    Sesame Matcha Latte (Seasonal)

This business has been across the street from where I work, made a few visits and visited other boba places. Flavors are good, I ordered a Sesame Matcha Latte, a seasonal drink. A black layer of seasme on the bottom. The paste is so thick it does not blend. So you gotta dip the straw in the deep end to get the sesame flavor. Ordered a strawberry milk tea for my co-worker, and for myself ordered a Strawberry Matche Latte which was great. Ordering is easy, order online and you have all the options before you. I normally choose oat milk and less sugar. I opted for 50% and it was fine. You can also adjust the ice. There is a bench to sit at but most take this to go. Lots of turn over of people passing through. In the future I will have to try the snacks.

I'm so glad I stumbled upon this place during a grocery shopping trip to Oakland's Chinatown. This place has fantastic Vietnamese sandwiches! (banh mi). I got a combo sandwich and got a grilled pork sandwich for hubby. Both sandwiches were fantastic - very fresh, the pickled daikon and carrots had just the right amount of crunch and sweet-and-sour tangyness and they were sizable too. I think it will be my go-to place for banh mi whenever I am in the area. I also got a ceremonial Matcha tea drink with aloe vera added which was deliciously refreshing. The place is very clean with helpful young employees working like busy bees. It is very high-tech where you can order off a kiosk and I appreciate the fact that you can personally customize everything, for instance I had extra daikon, carrots and cilantro put in my sandwich for a small up charge and you can also specify whether to cut the sandwich in half or not! (for free). All these little details make it a nice experience that you get exactly what you would like. And the banh mi was so delicious!

Can't speak to ambiance or service since I ordered delivery online. Was fast door dash delivery. The spicy popcorn chicken lacked seasoning. The rose green tea was good.

Came here with some friends and wowowow, I'll be back! I enjoyed the smoothest uji matcha latte of my life. This place is like grab and go style, and the menu boasts a wide variety of drinks. Service is as okay, and ambiance was quiet in a calming way. I will definitely be back, especially since you can customize sugar amount on drinks.

Gone are the days of $2.75 Vietnamese banh mi in Oakland Chinatown or anywhere...and you're lucky to find a delicious sandwich for under $9 Boba Binge is a more modern storefront and a contrast to the hole-in-the-wall spots in the area. Place offers various boba drinks and milk teas, Vietnamese sandwiches and fried snacks. The grilled chicken sandwich has a generous amount of pickled daikon and carrot, cilantro and slices of fresh cucumber. I liked the flavor of the chicken as it does have a dab of sweet sauce to it...good meat and veggie ratio and a good weight to it! It will definitely fill you up...a friend got 2 sandwiches and kept saying how full he was after! Popcorn chicken was yummy with basil throughout and garlic cloves. No sauce given except for a 2oz container of siracha-like hot sauce. Place set up for to go as a couple of stools for window seating and bench seating while you wait for your order. Kiosk to place your order or at the counter if you have questions...or if don't want cilantro. Friend said the kiosk didn't have the option for no cilantro and of course, it looked like they gave him the whole plant...there was a lot! Would visit again to try other sandwiches, snacks and a pandan waffle. Not big on the sweet Asian drinks but they definitely look good and quite popular from all the orders sitting on the counter.

M4. Tie Guan Yin Oolong Milk Tea
    Anh T.

Boba Binge was quite crowded during weekday lunch time. While most people took their food and drinks to-go, even the tables did not have space for all the customers. I waited around 5 minutes in line before I could order at their self-serve machine. I ordered the Tie Guan Yin Oolong Milk Tea with Honey Boba. They were quite busy, so I found out that my boba order was out before they were able to hand it to me. I enjoyed the flavoring of the milk tea along with the chewy boba! I appreciated the boba and their service, and I would love to try one of their banh mis or their pandan milks in the future!

I'm forever grateful for that recommendation because they make some of the best sandwiches I've ever had. I've tried a few items on the menu, but the one I always recommend is the Hot Italian. Everything about this sandwich is incredible. It's packed with flavor, and you can honestly tell it was made with care. I usually pair it with a bag of chips, and the total comes to around $18. It's absolutely worth every penny and always leaves me full and satisfied. The shop is consistently clean, and the customer service is always friendly and welcoming. I find myself going back over and over again, then telling myself I need to take a break--only to end up back there a few weeks later. That's how good it is. A couple of things to keep in mind before you visit: there's only limited street parking, so you may have to circle the block to find a spot. There's also not much room to wait inside, although they do have a bench or two where you can sit while your sandwich is being prepared. In my experience, the wait is usually around 15 minutes. I've honestly never been here when it wasn't busy, so expect a crowd. But once you take that first bite, you'll understand why. Great food, great atmosphere, and great customer service. Regarding the sandwiches, you can get a hot or cold sandwich. You can also build your own! Companion got the Hot Boy, and I went the Build Your Own route. The sandwiches are hefty, with lots of great meats and fillings, and for the price, very decent! I wish my bread were a bit more toasted and crunchier, but that's my preference. It's a cute delicatessen/restaurant. You order at the counter and they bring your food to you. Immediately the staff was so friendly and welcoming. The woman at the register was very nice and asked if we had any questions. My mom and I shared a pastrami sandwich, Brussels sprouts, fries, and slaw. It was reasonably priced for the Bay Area. When they brought the food to the table I was shocked. Everything looked amazing and very appetizing, and the portions were much bigger than expected. Before she brought the sandwich over, she asked if we were sharing it and was so nice to split it into 2 plates for us. That was very kind for her to do. Let's start with the French fries. Omg they were perfectly crisp but still fluffy on the inside. They had so much flavor probably because of the beef tallow and had just the right amount of salt on them. There was a side of mayonnaise with the fries, and it tasted homemade. I meant to ask them if it was. It was very good lol I couldn't get enough. The poppyseed slaw was very refreshing and it was tangy and sweet. We loved that the cabbage remained crispy and it was great for a warm day. The fried Brussels sprouts were full of flavor. They were a nice balance of sweet and salty. I loved the bacon on them. The hot pastrami sandwich definitely satisfied my pastrami craving! There was just the right ratio of meat-cheese-sauerkraut-mustard-dressing. The bread tasted freshly baked as well. It was full of flavor. And the side salad that came with the sandwich was excellent. We loved the tanginess of the dressing. We were shocked that there wasn't more people inside, but also for 2pm on a Monday, it probably was just an off hour. We had so many leftovers as we both don't eat very much, but lol as soon as I got home I started eating some more of the slaw and salad. Can't wait to eat the rest for lunch tomorrow. We are already planning on coming back to try the meatballs next time and definitely trying their Indian cuisine! I'll have to bring my husband here next. Thank you guys for an amazing lunch!

Finally, I went one day and there were 3 workers behind the counter chatting with each other. I was the only customer and was standing around 6 feet away from them, looking right at them. They went on with there conversation (not doing any other work) for a full 5 minutes. Finally I thought, "OK, they really don't seem to want my business, so I can go to any one of 4 other places and get what I want." That was a year or two ago. So, today I thought, why not give it another try, it's certainly convenient. Again, I'm the only customer at the counter. One guy is washing equipment and two guys are making sandwiches. I know that they know that I'm there, there are mirrors all along the back wall exactly for the purpose of seeing the customers. After around 4 minutes I think, who knows how long I'm going to be standing here. Maybe they have to make 20 sandwiches and I'll be here for a half hour. So, I left. I don't have anything like this experience at the 4 other meat counters I go to in the area. I'm totally fine waiting if I have some sense that I'm waiting for a purpose and that the worker will get to me as soon as they can. But at Star Meat, it feels like I'm more of an inconvenience than a customer. "Hi, I'll be with you as soon as I can," goes a long way.

We ordered via DoorDash, and I wouldn't call our experience "heroic."…read more The pinsa was very good. We got the Calabrian shrimp. We found it very tasty, but paying over $25 for this on DoorDash--certainly not worth the price even though we really enjoyed it. The spicy chicken parm sandwiches were not good. The chicken breast was flabby, and came across like it was one of those frozen cooked Tyson jobs. I would be very surprised if they actually breaded chicken breast, fried it, and made the sandwich with that. It was mushy, and the breading was like paste on the chicken. Pretty awful. They charge extra for sauce, which is a little much, given that we paid $21 for each sandwich. But we figured out pretty quickly why they do this: there was hardly any sauce on the sandwiches. And precious little cheese. We each ate half of our sandwich and figured we doctor the leftovers up the next day with a jar of Rao's and a bag of shredded Italian cheese. That helped, but nothing could save that chicken. The meatballs. We paid $15 for four, and we had high hopes, but they were so mushy that they fell apart in the sauce, and I couldn't tell what was sauce and what was meatballs. The only flavor that came across was fennel. Why any meatball should be so fennel-forward strikes me as bizarre. We got what we thought were pretty basic things, and they were fails. If an Italian place can't make a decent chicken parm sandwich nor a decent meatball, that says something. If you go, try the pinsa.

Our friends took us here for a light lunch since we were planning to have a heavy dinner later…read more Ended up going with the honey wheat turkey sandwich and added red onions and pepper jack cheese. The sandwich was AMAZING, loved how they packed it with fresh ingredients and one sandwich was more than enough for my husband and I to split. There's also a place next door that allows you to bring your food over so you can enjoy a cold beer with your meal. Wishing we had a place like this in San Diego, will definitely be back.

I ordered a Pastrami Sandwich with Provolone Cheese & Jalapeno Cheese Bread…read more Honestly this is a very affordable lunch spot for a quick sandwich grab. Great value for its price. For just a little under $14 through online making it very convenient. Highly recommend spending your lunch money here if you're on a budget. Pastrami sandwich 4/5 It's a nice clean sandwich, nothing too heavy, and I love the pineapple. Pineapple was just ripe and sweet. I think that's a pretty unique complimentary side they're doing. No sandwich spot ever gave me a pineapple! haha The sandwiches are also very big so you can definitely save the other half for lunch or share it with a friend. I do wish that the bread was toasted and that there was some kind of tasty sauce to go with it. They also charge an extra .75 cents for takeout packaging. But nonetheless I enjoyed it. Ambience 4/5 Inside is cool and lively. A nice dining area to quickly grub with a friend. Staff were friendly but I didn't really have much of an interaction since I ordered online. Quick tip, order online ahead of time before heading there since the lines can get very long especially during lunch hours.
