Came here to redeem an offer from the Boba SGV Passport with my husband. Offer: 1 free Milk Tea with boba. We were only given two options - Green Milk tea and Black Milk Tea. I redeemed the Green Milk Tea, my husband got the Black Milk Tea. They do offer milk substitutions, so we got ours with oat at no extra charge. This is located in the corner of the downtown area. The high ceilings give this a spacious feel. They also have several tables that could seat a minimum of 4; in addition to a long high-top table near the counter. They have games, puzzles, a claw machine, even a small artist table for the toddlers available. It's a good spot to hang out at. As for the drinks, I've read a few reviews saying the quality isn't as great as other spots. I do agree, mine tasted watered down. I will say the tapioca balls were actually good! They were pleasantly sweet and bouncy. If you have the boba passport, I would get the Black Milk Tea instead. We had to park up the street a little bit, not far from the business. It wasn't packed when we arrived on a Sunday evening. This place was okay for me. If I find myself back here, I would like to try their Yuzu Yuzu drink. read more

The wait time was 20 mins for two drinks and only 3 drinks came out before ours. I'm not sure if they were understaffed but they should have said something about longer than usual wait times. In addition the order was wrong I paid an extra 1.50 for oat milk and was given whole and my drink had no sugar when I didn't request that. She remade the oat milk drink but insisted mine had sugar. They were really nice I just wish there was some sort of notice to the very unusual wait times and that I was believed that mine did not have sugar. As for the brown sugar boba, it was lightly sweetened. It was neither flavorless nor flavorful, if that makes sense. The pearls were chewy and softer than I prefer. Ambiance is everything here. When you walk in, there's a table with printed menus and an iPad to self-order. The menus have pictures of all the drinks so the visual aid is appreciated. After ordering, you can take a seat in the large space with plenty of tables. I like that there are board games provided, a touch screen game table, and even a kid zone. There is also a crane game and Photo Booth! The strips range $6-$8 but you can get a coupon when you order a drink. The staff is concealed in the back behind curtains and they only come out to serve drinks so the atmosphere feels like you can just hang out without being watched. They have fun snacks in the front for sale as well. Something cool about the shop is you can pay extra to put your drink in a surprise cup - the cup comes with a boba plush! I experienced Boba Box last weekend as a guest at a private event. (The space was rented out.) Emily and Katherine were running the show and doing a great job of making everyone's drinks. The Okinawa Black Milk tea with boba was good, but it tasted like a brown sugar milk tea so I'm not sure what is special about the okinawa sugar specifically. That aside though, I enjoyed my drink thoroughly. Not watery or too sweet. The matcha oreo latte was good, but needed more sweetness for my taste. The matcha was strong! This is a good option for someone who prefers a less sweet taste. I do wish it had more oreo too. There are BOGO deals at select hours and a student discount. Dear Owner This 2 star ain't for your drinks they are very good. The two stars are due to lack of customer service. My family visited this location due to online reviews. We walked in Sunday afternoon and the store was empty to the point we thought they were closing. The music was on, so we proceeded to ordered using the kiosk, as the note in the cash register read. I usually order drinks at 50% sweetness, but this one tasted more watered-down than other spots I've had it at. Hosted a Friendsmas here and was absolutely satisfied with how the planning process and event turned out! Leo the manager, despite never meeting him was very helpful in the planning stages. We had a semi-private event meaning we got the section of the space by the windows with the adjacent Wood wall and it was already decorated for Christmas. We had access to the speaker system but since they were already playing christmas music we didnt switch up the playlist. We appreciated the wonderful staff tending to the boba bar that day. They were very kind and also helped move some pre-event customers that were straggling in our party section during our time slot. The place was a perfect space for our party of 14. Semi private could be for 30 & below, but for our use of tables for games and food, I believe we had the right amount of space to comfortably enjoy. They even have a sofa and coffee table in the space! Totally worth booking with Leo at Boba Box! Ease of booking, clear rules & payment, good space, food is allowed to be brought in and love that they allowed us to move their furniture around to curate our own design. Citrus Sunset: So refreshing, it does have a slight tart taste due to the grapefruit. Adding the crystal boba brings a nice bounce for a fruity drink. Okinawa Milk Tea: Clean milky with hints of the nutty Okinawa flavor in the tea. I prefer this than the citrus sunset. I've driven past this shop multiple times but tonight was my first time pulling over to try! Dropped by around 9:30 PM (30 minutes before closing) on a Wednesday and there was no wait. I'm not sure if there is a dedicated parking lot but we opted to just street park since it was a quick visit. When you enter there's a tablet where you can easily place your order and pay. We quickly chose our drinks & waited around 5 minutes. In terms of the interior, this boba shop is quite spacious with a good number of tables and chairs. Although we took our drinks to go, I think it'd be a nice spot to work or study from as there'd be a lot of natural light through the windows and the tables are nicely spaced. I opted for the mango green tea with lychee jelly and my friend got the phoenix milk tea with boba. Mt first sip of the mango green tea was pretty sweet (100% sweetness) but as the ice melted it mellowed out and was a nice level. The phoenix milk tea had a nice toasty flavor and the consistency of the boba was pretty chewy. Each drink came out to about $7 which seems to be somewhat of the going rate for boba these days. I could definitely see myself returning here in the future as it's pretty convenient & I enjoyed the drinks. If you're on the fence about trying, I'd recommend giving Boba Box a shot! read more

What an underrated place for a dog friendly study place! I actually didn't like my drink the first time I came here but I wanted to give it another chance before I wrote a review and I'm glad I did because the drink was great (the second time around). First time around I got the phoenix oolong milk tea. I think my mistake was that I made it 25% sweet and it just didn't taste good/satisfying. I wish I just kept it at the original recipe or just 75% sweet. The second time around I got #3 on the most popular drink list which was some citrus fruit tea and I thought it was pretty good and refreshing! I forgot to adjust the sweetness level this time around which is probably why it was so tasty and sweet.. a little bit too sweet for me but it's fine because I poked a slightly bigger hole and just poured a bit of water into it which made it perfect. Overall, this place is pretty cool to hang out with friends, study, work, and or just for a drink. They have ton of board games you can play and lots of seating. The evening can get a bit loud on the weekends especially if kids are coming in for a board game night or the speakers are extra loud with rave music. The workers are nice and they allow outside food as well which is pretty cool since they don't sell food. LOVE that they are dog friendly so I just brought my dog and his little blanket to join me. For a boba place that is for the public that randomly hosts its own private events it doesn't seem to me that it's professional. You'd expect their hours to be consistent but when you take time out of your day to drive a few miles to a place you like they are closed for 3 hours for their own purposes of financial gain. If your a merchant owner and you are trying to represent the brand name Boba Box atleast be consistent with site hours and more considerate of customers that walk in, expecting a drink and especially if they are a paying customer. This place is a hidden gem. I been going here since they first opened where they offered the reusable, plastic square bottles with every drink. Old Town Monrovia went from having zero tea places to having some of the best out there! It's very spacious and aesthetic here. Their cups are so unique and CUTE! It's a good place to get some work done (fast wifi) as well as just hang out with friends. Parking is lacking if you come at a busy time, but there's a big plaza across the street if needed.
