Love Comika!!! The matcha latte was both creamy and earthy at the same time, and the strawberry added a really nice sweetness to the drink. I thought the fried tofu would be pretty standard to other boba shops, but this one was pillowy soft on the inside, and perfectly crispy on the outside! I stopped by earlier this week with my sister to get some drinks. We used to frequent this spot a lot when it used to be Mana and Mira, the last shop. The decor here is very inviting and fun with the dog theme! Drinks we ordered were the Luka, Coco, and Ceylon milk tea. I got my milk tea at 0% since boba is already sweet. The others were 25%. The Luka was perfectly sweet and like the flavor of strawberry ice cream plus how a boba shop smells but in slush form. Comika is somewhat new, and had their soft opening some time in March. It's located in the same plaza as Ocean Bo dim sum, and the large parking lot sometimes does fill up. The name Comika, from what I heard, is taken from the last 2 letters of their 3 dogs: Coco, Lumi and Luka. On the wall near the rear, there are many photos of their pups, plus some of other fur babies. Their menu is posted on the wall by the counter. Tables can seat 2 to 4 and there are some board games in a shelf in the back, which gives the impression it's a cool place to hang out. Drinks: the mango and strawberry cloudies are very good at 50% sweetness. They're fruity, smooth and refreshing. The Coco, which is brown sugar boba milk with cheese foam is also good, but need to be stirred and sipped with the lid off. Side note, these aren't the best lids as they capture the drink and leak everywhere once you take the lid off. I also tried their Vietnamese coffee, and have to say it was one of the weakest I've had. Even with light ice, it wasn't bold at all. It's a nice spot to grab a drink and/ or snack. I found out about this spot from word of mouth! Such a great boba spot! The strawberry and mango boba were so good both tasted like they were made with homemade syrup! The shop has a cute dog theme, and I'm pretty sure the dogs featured are the owners I think they were even there when I visited, which made the experience even better. The space is modern, clean, and really inviting. Prices are affordable, they have WiFi if you want to get some work done, and even games if you're just there to hang out with friends. Came to grab some tea after work and I got the brown sugar milk tea, it wasn't super sweet but I lowkey wanted that sugar, but that's just me. I do prefer the coco one of their signatures! It's good! They serve snacks too, my son really liked their fries. We ordered it mild not too spicy. I often stop by when picking up vapes next door. I got the chia seed fruit tea with lychee jelly and found they put so many slices of limes it took a bunch of volume out of the tea and the seeds were not pleasant to find as I'm taking sips of my drink. Located in the same plaza as LA Houseware and Corner Beef Noodle House, specifically next door to Ocean Bo Dim Sum Cafe. There is shared parking in the plaza. Comika Boba House is named after the owners' 3 shih tzus, Coco, Lumi and Luka. You can see a cute cartoon version on them on the menus. But if you want to see a photo of the actual 3, you will find them in the unisex restroom. My husband and I stopped by this tea house this past Saturday, taking advantage of their grand opening for the buy one get one free drink special. We found parking and walked in a little before 3:30 pm. We were greeted when we came in and ended up ordering the following: The Lumi, $6.50 prior to tax- This drink is a green tea made with mixed fruit and chia seeds. My husband ordered this drink to be made with 0% sugar and no ice. My husband did not like this drink very much because the chia seeds were not mixed in and felt it was way too much in the drink itself. He also didn't think the drink was was refreshing and felt the drink was watered down. I didn't try any of his drink. The Luka, 6.50 prior to tax- This drink is a strawberry shortcake cloud, made with "house milk" and a strawberry puree. I ordered this drink to be made with 25% sweetener. If I was to order this next time, I would order this as 0% sweetener since the strawberry puree does add sweetness, which the employee who took my order did warn me. I thought this drink was good but a little on the sweeter side for myself. This drink it s blended drink and was nice for the hot day that we came. --------------------------------- (Total= $7.20 after tax and special buy one get one free grand opening special) Wait time for our drinks was ~12 minutes. There are a few small tables with chairs. We just ended up sitting and relaxing a bit while we were here. I really like the cute logo and the meaning behind the name. I'm reviewing just the popcorn chicken only. It took about 15 minutes for it to be ready but it was worth the wait! The popcorn chicken was definitely made fresh to order, hot and delicious. This boba spot has changed hands a few times. I noticed they were in soft opening and decided to check it out since it replaced Mana Tea House and the boba shop that came after it. The service was very friendly, they explained their drinks to us and mentioned that many more items will be coming soon. We ended up ordering their signature drink named after the owner's dog, "The Luka." It was quite tasty, though even at 25% sweetness it was still pretty sweet, so I think 0% would probably be just right. It felt almost like a dessert, very milkshake-like, but overall we enjoyed it. I really hope this spot survives since we're always in the area. This boba place has been changing the owner fews times but this time COMIKA finally has "coffee" in the menu which is a plus for me who works in the same plaza. All of the staffs is nice and friendly, cleanliness is a must that I always look at. The new design is simple, bright white color is nice and it will be great if have some greens. Music is not loud but enough to chill. The air conditioning is not bad, not too cold compared to most of the restaurants or boba place I have been. I can't wait for their grand opening. I gotten my drink at 50% and it was still a bit too sweet for me but surprisingly I finished the whole cup before I got home. My drive back was at most 10mins. New boba shop in El Monte and I'm excited to give it 5-stars. I don't usually like soft openings because it's messy, people are learning, and you really, really need to have limited expectations. But we were swept off our feet by their service, patience, and friendliness. Then, we were wowed by their drinks. They were very accommodating and answered all our questions. Even questions we were probably not supposed to ask! A big plus is that the boba pearl toppings are free (if you want it)! We got everything 75% because most boba shop drinks are full of sugar and so yeah... Their drinks were not too sweet and definitely good. Since we drive by often, we will be back to try other drinks and popcorn chicken, when their kitchen opens up. Note: It was a clean refreshing interior that was recently remodeled. I finally checked out Comika Boba House and I'm so glad I did! The drinks are amazing and you can customize the sweetness level to your liking. I got the Luka and the lime green tea. The Luka is a sweet creamy blended strawberry drink and the lime green tea is a great quality tea with real squeezed lime juice! Every drink comes with FREE BOBA which is als a great plus considering most boba places have boba as a $1 or so add on. Service is also great and the drinks came out quickly. The interior is very clean and has lots of tables for studying or just chatting with friends. They're currently soft opening so I can only expect things to get even better!
