Boba Tea House is not the best boba I've ever had, however I have to admit that it is the best boba I've had in Riverside. I've tried many of the other boba places around campus, but BTH is hands down the best. I only want to come here when I need my boba fix. If you are in a organization, they have fundraisers so talk to them about it! My fraternity has done many fundraisers with them and everyone loves boba so it's easy to raise some money for your org. It's located in a pretty janky plaza but there is always a crowd there so it's not completely unsafe. There are a bunch of tables for you to study, a small space in the back with a huge table for study groups, and a couch in the front so you can lounge around with your friends and drink boba. The employees are mainly (if not all) UCR students and they are very nice and welcoming. The drinks and food are reasonable boba prices like $3-4 for a drink and $5-6 or so for the popcorn chicken. I used to be a Thai tea snow type of girl but I've opted for a more "healthier" route since the Thai tea snow was a tad bit heavy for me. But the many times that I have ordered the Thai tea snow I have not been disappointed, it was blended to perfection. My favorite drink there is the Jasmine milk tea and though it is still "heavy" it's a lot lighter than the snow. But I love how creamy the milk tea is and the Jasmine tea flavor is very prominent and it's the only drink I get from there, it's delicious! I love their popcorn chicken! The chicken pieces are big yet you can still pop them in your mouth and it is also lightly battered. The popcorn chicken is so flavorful and I usually get medium and that has a nice kick to it. It's even better when you dip it in the hot/sweet and sour sauce. I usually ask for more of the sauces because I go through them quickly. Since I graduated already I'm not sure if I'll go out of my way to drive there, but if I'm ever in the area I'll make a quick pit stop. read more

Located not too far from campus, I have visited this place since my first week of college at UC Riverside and it remains the best place to get boba, snacks and meals. The staff are always friendly and courteous even when it gets busy, which usually happens when clubs and organizations are hosting their fundraiser at the place. The drinks have remained consistent and satisfying, my favorites are the royal milk tea, lychee milk tea, jasmine milk tea and their flavored tea. The fruit tea is also a favorite for many. The snacks are also a highlight of BTH. My favorite is the popcorn chicken. It is crunchy, flavorful and the dipping sauce that is included makes it the best popcorn chicken in the area. They also offer fried calamari, sweet potato fries, fish balls and more! I also recommend the teriyaki bowl. Some of the snacks also have a meal upgrade which comes with rice and veggies with a $1 charge if you include a green or black tea. This is a great deal for those midterm/finals study nights or if you just don't feel like cooking that day! Thanks for being an awesome place to hang out and get boba and snacks. The price is high for what they offer. I order 2 caramel milk tea with boba, total price came out to around $14.50. For this price, I was underwhelmed by the terrible quality. Came here today with a friend the day AFTER the day they gave out free drinks. Boo. Oh well, I was busy yesterday anyways and I hate waiting forever just for something free. Anyways, this place used to be where TapEx was-- except now, it's the same concept, but a lot better! The interior was very comforting, with a few computers, hardwood floors, new and comfortable seats-- this place is CLEARLY a hang out spot, since their hours are from like 11AM?-midnight. But since it's their second day, I won't be so harsh by taking a star off :) I ended up getting the Taro Milk Tea with boba (suggested by the cashier), and it was pretty good, considering that their local competitions around the area kinda fail at working with their drinks. My friend got her complicated Almond Milk Tea Drink with extra almond powder and aloe jelly with no ice. It was a bit over on the sweet end, but it definitely had the effect of the almond taste-- without having the powdery taste. Additionally, their price is fair-- and nothing too outrageous; however, FOR NOW-- IT'S CASH ONLY UNTIL THEY GET THEIR CREDIT CARD MACHINE. The plaza is usually pretty empty; thus, there are plenty of parking and wide spaces! So this is definitely a plus! For all the boba fanatics, they also provide stamp cards! Buy 9 drinks and the next one is free-- so I guess this is an incentive to go since I already have two stamps. I used to go here a lot with my friends because I love the hot almond tea with boba. Today, was just a really bad experience. I ordered a hot almond milk tea (like I always do). I made sure I specified hot because I used to work at Starbucks back in the day and know what it's like. They made it iced. I told them I ordered it hot, so they remade it. The girl with the pink hair who took my order seemed new and was taking orders from the squiggly eye liner girl with the short dark hair and green hair tie cloth thing. I was being patient since I can tell the girl was on the newer side and was doing her best. I heard the other girl complain about us saying we needed to specify that we wanted it hot. I told my sister loud enough for squiggly eyeliner girl to hear that we specifically ordered it hot. We also heard her slamming our cups on the counter while remaking it. I'm pretty sure she steamed the old drinks with the ice because it was below room temperature and watered down. We didn't realize it until we left because we didn't want to drink it there because of Covid. We drove back and they squiggly eye liner girl said it got cold by the time we came back (which was literally down the street and back around and about less the 4 minutes). I told her "No. We got it like this." She also said the company usually doesn't make those drinks hot which I know is a lie because we have been getting it that way for years and they also have hot drink cups to make those drinks. Very consistent place to get boba near UCR. I like to go here not just because it is very close to school, but it offers a very chill, relaxed ambiance. This staple boba place is known to host fundraisers and have group meet-ups. If I can tell anyone to get something in particular from this place, I would recommend the popcorn chicken! Got a passion fruit green tea. The boba wasn't chew and a bit too firm. It was almost tough or hard.. like 40%. The drink itself tasted kind of bad. Not only was it not sweeten enough, it tasted sour. Passion fruit boba is not sour! This boba place did not ask about sweetness, which is means it was sour at regular sweetness. It was more tolerable to drink after the ice melted. Like an unsweetened la croix with no fizz. I thought maybe it was that one drink, and maybe their milk tea might be better. But if their boba is none chewy, then all their other drinks are affected... I am not that picky with my boba and if I get tapioca express or it's boba time, I think that is a good average. Except maybe those powdered milk tea from the early 2000. (No powdered tea here, btw. At least there is that.) The menu look nice and the establishment is very clean. It is so refreshing and I find myself going crazy just trying to describe how amazing it is. This drink is more like a slush, but it is so, so, so...SO. GOOD. Their boba isn't bad either, and their staff is very friendly. The atmosphere is very chill and relaxed and if they accidentally get your drink wrong, don't be afraid to tell them, they'll give you a new one free of charge without any complaints! Honestly the interior is unwelcoming and the staff treat me super poorly. I go there all the time because theres a laundromat next to it that is safer than the one in my neighborhood. The staff here act like they live in some kind of Dickens novel. They act like im about to rob the place when i show up in my sweatpants on a laundry day. I hope they never have to struggle and recieve the same judgement. I had to write an updated review because I've been here so many times and received excellent service from BTH. This place is a great spot to study! Good wifi, noise level isn't too bad. Personally, I love their mozzarella sticks and fried tofu. They're both a must try! As for drinks, I always get the lavender milk tea, they make it really well!! It's spacious and there's a lot of table setting for people, though it's not great for big groups since their tables are all round table so it doesnt fit many people. I like to come here since they have decaf options like royal milk tea and it's also the local boba shop in town. Workers have been nice. Just a little slow trying to manage phone and in store orders at times. It's understandable because they are very busy. They use to offer in car pick up but that stopped, which I'm kind of sad about. I ordered the jasmine green milk tea which is my favorite drink anywhere. I didn't expect it to be one of my favorite jasmine green milk teas! Boba is decent the quality nothing speedily and the quality has went down after years of service. My main issues is they put a "closed for cleaning" sign on the bathroom but I saw two employees use the bathroom and no one is cleaning it. It seems they just don't open it to the public. Boba Tea House is my favorite boba place in Riverside- it's so nice to have a place where I can just hang out and enjoy a refreshing drink or even study and get away from the summer heat. All of the baristas/cashiers/staff on floor are always so friendly. You can tell that they just love to work hard and that they really put the effort in to put out those perfect drinks. When their drinks aren't perfect, they go out of the way to really listen, apologize, take action, thank, and ensure satisfaction!! I love how many options there are on the menu and that you can really customize your own drink. I tried the Strawberry Honey Pudding Milk Tea most recently...DELICIOUS. Creamy. Sweet. Refreshing.
