Go to keys a lot. This place is the best food around. Good comfort food never had a bad meal.

I love turkey. Papa Lou's roast their own turkey is wonderful. I had a tricky club on whole wheat as good as it gets. I love their pizza. I almost forgot the deserts. All homemade by the owner. Out of this world. They have outside seating an air conditioned Thursday, Fridays, and Saturdays. They have music close Sunday. One other thing I love about this place is run by the owners who are local and live just a few minutes from the restaurant three generations dad and daughter work the kitchen mom works the front and makes all the desserts. The service and food was great! We came in the late afternoon (June 18,2024), and the place was empty, however the service was friendly, quick, and personable. I wish I had caught her name. Some people came in and were not overly friendly to the staff, but she handled them with grace and even apologized to us for their behavior. We told her that she was very professional and to not be worried about what other people had done. The food was delicious! Our appetizers were fried ravioli and conch fritters, and both were really good. My daughters shared the pizza, my husband had the whole fish, and I had the chicken sandwich and each dish was well made and flavorful. The crust on the pizza was so good, and we even watched the cook stretch the dough before cooking, which is impressive for a place we thought might just be a roadside dive. And it is, but in the BEST kind of way! If we ever make it back to the area, we will definitely stop back here! read more

We stopped for lunch and as soon as we walked in the door we were able to get seated greeted and have menus in hand britney was on top of it. Hot head Red head. Food was taking a long time, so when we inquired we were told someone called in and they were short staffed. We can understand that, however there was lack of service, and communication at our table. We said we just want to pay what we owe and go. We were than met with hostility being told do you hear that phone all the orders coming in before us. I have been coming to this place for a super long time. It used to be better in the 90s but it is still pretty good. I miss the days when there was old record albums stapled to the ceiling. The Decor is eclectic Florida Keys. On my way out of the keys a couple weeks ago we ordered takeout to pick up as we drove past. Interestingly although there was two cars in the parking lot only, they told us it would be 40 minutes before our food was ready. Well we got there earlier and it was ready earlier because there was literally no other business other than one table. So my go to is conch fritters and Conch strips. We had to ask them for sauce. They had our stuff packed up in boxes and there were no sauces in there and we had to ask for them. After we got in the car we discovered there was not a napkin to be found in the entire pile. Two sandwiches and an appetizer conch strips and an order of conch fritters was about $70. The breading on the conch strips tasted like unseasoned flour. I don't know what's going on there I don't know if it's Covid or what but the food quality has just been deteriorating over the last few years. This was a regular staple for me in the 90s and in the 2000s but maybe there was a change of ownership I don't know. At this point in time nostalgia brings me back not the food quality. The certainly is a quintessential piece of old Key West so it's worth a stop. read more

Bobalu's is an easy solid three or four from me. This long standing quirky fun bar/restaurant 's beloved by locals and tourists alike so they're often very busy. People seem to Love this place! It's fun and everyone's friendly without all that Conch customer service you sometimes get down here. The food's good and the prices are refreshingly reasonable. I have been wanting to visit Bobalu's for the longest. It took me a long time to finally visit because it is always busy. Luckily, I popped in when it was much quieter. It is a place frequent by locals. The outdoor décor and colors really caught my attention. It is quirky, casual, and very Keys. Our server was great and friendly. We ordered a few drinks and they came out quickly. We shared the Key West Flare Pizza - Ham, pineapple, bell peppers, and onions. I thought the prices were really reasonable. Also, the pizza was actually pretty good. It is a laidback beachy theme bar/restaurant. They serve your typical Key West seafood items, but it is fun and relaxing. read more

Great outdoor venue. Have dinner under the stars and twice a month a live band performs. Bars equiped with some roof in the even a rain cloud shows up. We ordered the kitchrn sink pizza, family style ceaser salad and a garden salad. All 3 items were delicous, ample for 4 hungy adults. Ceasar was delicious and i like my dressing in my green which this salad came in with majority of my leaves were tiuched. Garden was good served with yum yumbranch on the side. My fried shrimp were most likely frozen shrimp. There was so much breading that had been fried or baked so brown that a lot of it was burned. I let the waitress know that it was not any good. We still had to pay full price for it... I was very disappointed! read more

We are a super relaxed group of friends who stopped for a bite to eat on the way home from an event. It was about 6:45pm. Only a few tables were seated inside. Several people outside listening to music. The waitress was friendly enough, although SUPER SUPER HYPER. We ordered 1 pizza, 2 orders of raw ahi tuna, 1 order of wings, and one order of the special prime rib they had. 60 minutes in we're starting to get a bit antsy. We've been chatting and laughing. Joking about going to find chickens for the wings. Usually, we have no problem with waiting because we all have a good time together. But now we're hungry. Now bear in mind ... the place is about empty at this point except for a table for two in the bar area, and some patrons at the bar. There were to-go orders coming and going throughout all this time. Waitress bought one of the group a beer. But oddly after that came back to verify what we ordered? Did she even put the order in? I understand the wings, but how long does it take to throw raw tuna on a plate? And the prime rib should have already been sliced and ready to go, it was a special after all. An hour and half later, out came the wings. Then 5 minutes after that one order of tuna. Another few minutes, another order of tuna. Then about 10 minutes later, the pizza. And FINALLY out came the cold, rubber, prime rib special. Apparently the last one too. We were told we were lucky. OH boy. Never once saw a manager. Then at the end, after we asked for the bill and were getting ready to leave, someone who looked like a manager was walking by and asked how it was. We should have kept our mouths shut at that point. But we said it was a horrible experience. Well apparently we just wanted to argue, and they just wanted to defend their ninety minutes to serve us food. No apologies. No explanations. Just excuses. If you read through my reviews I RARELY say anything off about anywhere because anyone can have a bad day ... but we were so ill-treated by whomever this man was, that I had to get this out. I guess we should have never expected our simple meal any sooner than we got it. Shame on us. I wish we had the experience so many others have had where it was a perfect evening meal -- but nope. Was an unexpected find on mile marker 10. Funky eclectic decor with good food at reasonable prices. Especially recommend the conch strips which were more tender than clam strips with great conch taste. They knocked it outta the park on the shrimp and corn chowder. Could have used a little more temperature heat but my thought was the cook didn't want to over cook the shrimp. Mango wings had a sweet flavor with heat in the back notes. A little undercooked for my liking but no worries they were still eaten! Next came the Cuban and fried grouper sandwiches. Grouper had a little too much breading but was nice and crispy. Homemade tarter was good but not close to Fish Camp or Hogfishes homemade tarter. The Cuban was the first I have had in the Keys so I had nothing to compare to but it was average to what you can find anywhere in the country. Def. Great local place, happy vibe, live music - we enjoyed Chris Thomas' guitar playing and song selections. We sat outside, and got there a bit early- before a busy Friday night. This was a good place to relax. I had a burger and my husband loved the Stuffed Hogfish was a nice combo of fish and crab. Tasty and fresh. Friendly server behind the bar with good suggestions. One suggestion was pie: chocolate pie and key lime finished our meal. Sky darkening, some lightening and it was time to go back home. Seemed like they're really just geared towards the night crowd because the day time crowd was non existent but there was only one server working. Waited over an hour and a half to get three small orders and pay even there were only two or three people also being waited on. Very limited liquor bar and no frozen drinks. Food was rather bland. If you're looking for a decent place to get some drinks and fried food in the evening time this is the place for you. I said something to person in charge and she basically said, Idk why our website says that but on our menu says 16.99. Its been there for years! So i guess its a ploy to get people into restaurant. We just ate here and the waitress was so rude. Sat for 10 minutes without a hello or I'll be with you in a minute. When she finally came over she shoved her notepad and pen at my guy friend and said so you want to do my job?! Umm wtf?! We were nice, not complaining, and we get rude ass attitude? When we finally got our pizza half of it ended up on the floor. The table was uneven, the folded paper under one leg wasn't doing it any justice, and with the music vibrating and the wind blowing the pizza went sliding off the tower they put it on (shouldn't have a tower, that's another reason why it fell). But the waitress doesn't attempt to pick it up or ask us if we're ok. She huffs and rolls her eyes and steps over it. A patron actually picked it up. Amid the quirky "Keys-ey" decor that owner Tina is responsible for, you will get some of the best food in the lower Keys! Tina's husband Steve puts out fantastic garlic Parmesan wings - our favorite in the Keys - and his pizza is delicious. It took us a few years to get past these two things and order other items because they are so damn good!! The Alfredo is wonderful and the burgers as well. You have to reserve a turkey pot pie on Thursday during season! We've never had a bad meal, and we bring all our visitors here. Even if you have to take it to go - do not miss the homemade cakes and pies.
