So first, their Martini list is great but ok the food and service are also. Regarding the menu, what is very appreciated is how willing they are to please by adjusting combinations if they can to your desires. The veal saltimboca was great, the special hogfish and angel hair was also, and their gnocchi was terrific. Now gnocchi is a rather simple dish, but somehow not many make it good nonetheless for some reason. And the service is terrific. A place to repeat. read more

My heart is full with how fortunate I am to be able to have a beautiful meal here at La Trattoria Oceanside in Key West. My hubby and I just celebrated our 20 year anniversary and we are on vacation here in Florida. We came here for an Italian seafood dinner. What a beautiful restaurant! We had a corner table facing the ocean. The decor, the ambience, the ocean view -- all were outstanding. We had carpaccio, seafood ravioli, and grouper with angel hair pasta, topped with a scallop. The meal was decadently delicious. Our server Jonathan was a very, very nice person. He surprised us with a slice of tiramisu with a sparkler in its center! This is the best place we been to since arriving in Key West. The place is very nice and well done inside. Patio porch area to view the Oceanside is amazing. They were all delicious and gave you a good buzz! Appetizers were very tasty the Mushrooms and Bruschetta both excellent! A couple of us ordered the Lasagna which was cooked perfectly! The ratio of cheese, meat and sauce OMFG I can't believe it was perfect finally a restaurant got it correct. The other 2 had different dishes which looked amazing and they were in love with each of their meals. SPAGHETTI alla BOLOGNESE presented very nicely and POLLO alla PARMIGIANA. We finished with multiple desserts. We were a bit buzzed from the drinks but I tell you that they were all good. CANNOLI RIPIENI was delicious, TIRAMISU (not my favorite dessert) but my friend said it was definitely worth every bite. A couple of us had MOUSSE du CHOCOLATE which was definitely amazing. What a great dinner! We were seated very quickly for our party of Five. Damian L was our server and greeted us as soon as we settled. He explained each dish we were interested in and made sure to include our young grandson. He was delightful. All of our dishes were very tasty, starting with the bread with olive oil, to soup, salads and entrees. We were seated at the top level of the restaurant which was quaint and overlooked the beautiful water views. Highly recommend and we will return! What went well? Made a reservation for 6:30 on a Friday night earlier that day. The restaurant is located on the 4 lane highway near the airport. One story building with lots of windows so you can see the ocean. Very easy to find. Huge sign on the highway. Free parking in the back. Immediate seating. Our waiter, Damian, got our opening drink order quickly and explained the menu specials. I ordered the Tortellini Virgilio (Italian sausage). In the meantime we were served the traditional bread with oil and grated cheese The tortellini was easily enough for two and was delicious. Large pieces of sausage and a variety of vegetables . Excellent. I left with half in a take out container. Damian was back to provide service constantly. We couldn't resist dessert and ordered tiramisu and I had an Italian coffee. Both were excellent. The hogfish entree arrived slightly overdone, robbing the delicate fish of its ideal texture, while the Spaghetti Aglio e Olio drowned in excessive olive oil and toasted garlic slices, overwhelming what should be a simple, balanced dish. These entrees didn't meet the refinement expected at this price point. That said, the wine list offered thoughtful pairings and our go-to Groth is always a hit! I was in Key West for a long weekend to participate in a duathlon and La Trattoria was hands down my favorite restaurant we dined at on this trip. I easily made a dinner reservation on OpenTable and we were seated immediately when we arrived. The place was dim and decorated nicely for the holidays. It was already dark when we got there but I'm sure the sunset over the beach is a gorgeous sight to see. My bf and I first ordered the mussels which went wonderfully with the bread that was served to each table. For my entree I opted for a simple Spaghetti Bolognese and my bf got the scallops on angel hair pasta. Scrumptious and hearty, all of it! It made for some good leftovers too. Didn't have room for dessert but my bf and I did share a nice cognac to top off our meal. The staff was very nice, attentive and efficient. Unfortunately, it was a very disappointing experience. * Bread: Decent, served with oil, balsamic, and powdered Parmesan. * Caesar Salad: Made with hearts of romaine and a dressing they called Caesar, but it had no flavor at all. * My Main Course (Snapper): Supposed to be with capers (none were present), garlic, butter, lemon, and white wine -- but it was bland, with an overpowering amount of garlic. The accompanying julienned vegetables were overcooked and mushy. * My Husband's Zuppa di Pesce: Also disappointing -- not worth going into details. False advertising - the restaurant is not Oceanside or located on the beach. You do have a view of the ocean. You have to look past the five lane, busy freeway that's positioned in front of the restaurant. The ambiance was decent. I think it's a good spot for a date, if you care little about the lack of view. The tables have nice table clothes and candles. The food was mediocre. The Spicy Arrabbiata I could have prepared at home for one-tenth of the price. My boyfriend ordered a seafood dish. Sadly, you could not taste the fish as it was drowned in salty sauce. Lastly, and the most disappointing experience that this restaurant offers... they didn't honor our free dessert coupon, and they served us cheesecake instead of Key Lime Pie. I argued with the waiter, and he insisted it was Key Lime Pie. It was strawberry cheesecake. I would say the service is awful. They broke a huge customer service rules. The escargot dish was not your regular escargot dish, where you actually enjoy the escargot. This was a mass of cream, garlic and who knows what, as the garlic killed the flavors. So as entree I went with - simplest dish, clam linguine- and surprise again, the garlic killed any flavor. Could not eat it. For food I'd go with 1 star. A disappointment for outrageous price's. Really good place to grab dinner! My husband and I came on Christmas during our vacation and were impressed with the food we got! The lobster bisque was good, although I would prefer a bit more lobster. My husband got the ossobucco and he loved it! He thought it was seasoned well and was super tender. I got the lasagna and it is a sweeter tasting sauce but overall delicious! I thought it was flavorful and a great dip for my bread once I finished the pasta part. I took a sip of my friend's Chocolate Raspberry Martini - pretty tasty. I ordered the Linguine con Pollo alla Parmigiana - pan fried, breaded chicken breast, mozzarella cheese, parmesan cheese and tomato sauce, served with linguine pasta and vegetables. Delicious!!! My friend ordered the hogfish in parmesan cheese sauce. I tried a bit of her dish. OMG! Also delicious... my mouth is watering while thinking about it. We were visiting Key West for a week earlier this month and wanted a nice dinner close to our hotel on the east end of the island ("new town"), where the choices are limited because most of the restaurants are in the downtown area on the western end ("old town"). Numerous venues came up on a Yelp search, most of which we dismissed because they were either chain-type fastfood or had some negative factors. We'd been to Stock Island the night before for American cuisine, and this evening we wanted Italian. La Trattoria Oceanside came up and looked good, also close. First thing my wife noticed was their extensive wine list. If you're an oenophile, you will like it. We had a good zinfandel. For our appetizer we ordered the bruschetta, and I have to say it was about the best bruschetta I'd had since visiting Tuscany some 20 years ago--really that good, and I told our waiter so. My wife ordered the Piccata di Petti di Pollo (chicken piccata) and I had the Linguine con Pollo alla Parmigiana. Both were very satisfactory. I can vouch for hers because she shared the leftover with me subsequently. both indoor and outdoor seating are available. They gave us bread in the beginning, if it was warm it would have been better. I had the drink "Lucifer's Daughter" great dessert drink! It tasted like a piece of Black Forest cake. We had a crème brûlée for desert and it was perfectly made. So creamy and the sugar on top was hardened. Upscale ambiance with a mom and pop feel. They offer indoor and outdoor seating. From reading the reviews and realizing there was not a good Yelp of this restaurant in quite some time, I decided to make a reservation for the location near Smather's beach. We were promptly seated at our reservation time. We were sat near a window facing the ocean which I thought was great and appreciated this greatly. The ambiance: The wait staff were all dressed in black button down dress shirts, some with ties, wearing black pants and a black apron; however the manager (owner possibly?) and the food runners themselves were dressed in regular black t-shirts and black jeans (no apron for the runners?). I found this to be very unprofessional and confusing. The music was old contemporary classical from artists like Josh Groban. I get the feeling the restaurant is trying to be upscale/fine dining. The experience we had was anything BUT fine dining, and I am very fluent in steps of service/fine dining. The place is not even close to casual fine dining or even casual upscale dining. The server greeted us promptly and brought waters to our table. He did not bring one for my young daughter nor offer her a drink at any point during the dinner. Luckily, she had her own. There is no childrens menu, so the restaurant is Not Good For Children. They did accommodate a half portion pasta with pomodoro sauce. The wait times on the food did take a while. Probably were there for a total of 2 hours with 3 courses. The way the runner served the food at the table was not a casual way of doing it. He didn't announce or not even auction the food off. He just set them on the table and then told someone else to pick up our dirty plates. I ordered the seafood carbonara ravioli. It was okay but the seafood taste was very overpowering. I'd like to see a combination of ricotta or any other kind of cheese inside the ravioli as a recommendation. My husband and father both got the cannelloni and that was excellent. Taste, texture and presentation were all there. The Creme brûlée was absolutely disgusting. It seemed as though they rushed the process and the custard was curdled before it even hit the oven. When it was brought to our table it tasted like it just came out of the oven and then the sugar was crusted. Highly dissatisfied. I wouldn't go here again. read more

Fantastic dinner and views. I chose the snapper special and it was very good. The views from the restaurant are beautiful. The others in my party had fettuccine Alfredo and tortillini. All were beautifully presented, steaming hot, and very delicious. Caesar salad comes with sardines but our waiter told us before hand we we chose to remove those. We made reservations, got there about 20 minutes early and were seated immediately. We originally requested outside seating, but it was rather windy so we ate inside. There were others eating outside. It got rather busy in the front (where the best views are). Parking is in the rear and reserved for patrons. Service was good. If you want to see sun disappear below the horizon, this is not the place but as the sun sets, the ocean views are still quite beautiful. read more
