    Lobster roll

Fresh juicy lobster roll on a hot day. I usually take my lob rolls hot with butter and am picky about the cold ones, but this was one of the best I've had. Quick and friendly service in a charming location. The outdoor seating looked great, but indoors was cute and I was just thankful for good AC. Sometimes in the Keys, non-waterfront is where you find the best food. If your tummy is rumbling on your drive from Marathon to Key West and you want high quality food, Mangrove Mama's is worth a stop.

Everything was great! The catch of the day tacos were over seasoned but otherwise it was good. Staff was friendly and fast, and the ambiance out side was perfect.

Had to update my review! Another fabulous meal at this wonderful restaurant! The service is excellent every time and the food is delicious! We will continue to patronize mangrove mamas when we come to the keys for sure!

Went to visit the kid who was working at the Boy Scout Base for the summer nearby. This was his suggestion. It was a great little restaurant. With so many fish places in the Key's I can't imagine a place that does fish badly will survive. I got a grouper sandwhich. The Sandwich was a good. The fish was firm and flaky in all the right ways a white fish should be. Great little place, only problem is that with the keys being so hot and humid, in the main dining room, it was a bit warmer and more humid than one would like in a restaurant. Good food and worth the visit.

Great fresh food and great service. Laid back atmosphere with spacious indoor and outdoor seating. I would highly recommend stopping and trying if you're passing through sugarloaf key. They also have happy hour drinks 3-6 m-f.

    Wahoo, zucchini and mashed potatoes.

Fun place, but stay away from the conch fritters. They're overcooked and taste burnt. The wahoo fish sandwich was delicious!

With new owners at the helm, the food is very good. Service is great. And the live music is always worth enjoying.

Last stop before Key West. Blackened Mahi sandwich and tacos were perfect. Fries were crispy and not oily. Fast friendly service.

Nice music. Food was just ok but they did have some interesting choices on the menu! We loved the conch fritters.

Well, the answer is Hell yeah! (Steve Austin voice). The down home charm feeling from the staff is true warmth. What I think Keys hospitality should be! We had cocktails that were beautifully crafted. To start there was an amuse bouche of a smooth creamy bisque. Followed by duck wings and crispy fish collars! Yes I came back to them for a 2nd look. For awhile I kept seeing a special offering on the menu. When I would call to inquire, it was no longer available. Well, guess what was on the men? The Kan Kan Chop!!! Let me tell you. This beautifully sculpted cut of pork includes the rib, the chop and the belly!!!! 2 people carried it out on a board! I admired it in amazement. They asked if I was sharing it? Uh, no. Accompanied by super soft bao buns, Jasmine rice and hoisin it was worth the wait. Chloe was excellent at helping to select items to make for a wonderful dining experience! The steaks were seasoned and cooked perfectly. Do not be fooled by the looks of this place! Pull up, pull in and enjoy. You'll thank me later

The online waitlist initially estimated a 60-75 minute wait, not an issue, had a cocktail upstairs and really wnjoyed ourselves. When we checked in, we were told we were next eventhough thebonline portal told us to come. After waiting another 15 minutes, we were told our table was just being cleaned and to wait where we were. A few minutes later, another employee told us we had to move because a different party was holding the door open, so we ended up standing behind the bar with our backs against the wall. It just felt awkward and disorganized. When we were finally seated in the back room, we thought it would be nice since it was quieter, but it was extremely hot. I'm usually the person who is always cold, yet I was sweating through dinner. Service also left a lot to be desired. The food runner handed our hot dinner plates directly to us instead of placing them on the table. I was sitting at the opposite end of the table from him, so I had to reach out and take a hot plate. I even asked if it was hot, and he still practically dropped it into my hands. I had burned my fingers earlier that day, so it hurt!!.. but it was that or drop my pasta!? Our server also repeatedly reached across guests' faces to clear plates instead of walking around the table. At one point my sister didn't even realize she was there until an arm reached in front of her, which was awkward. To make matters worse, two of our dinners arrived about seven minutes before the remaining meals, so part of our table was left waiting while the others' food got cold. We asked for grated Parmesan for our two PASTA dishes. No one mentioned there would be a charge. It took another six minutes to arrive, and when the bill came we discovered we had been charged $2 per serving. We asked for two servings, but three were brought to the table--and we were charged for all three. Six minutes may not sound like much, but after already waiting for the rest of the meals, another delay while watching our server take new tables' orders instead of bringing the cheese felt frustrating. To end on a positive note, three of the meals were good. My mother-in-law really enjoyed the grilled wahoo, my husband liked the BBQ mac and cheese, and my sister liked the fried artichoke. Overall, it wasn't one major issue--it was a series of small service problems that added up and made for a disappointing experience. We hope this feedback helps improve the experience for future guests.

I'm not a picky eater by any means, but the food was extremely underwhelming. I ordered the burger, and it had almost no flavor. My wife ordered the Philly cheesesteak, and it was topped with what tasted like individually wrapped processed cheese, which really took away from the sandwich. Our soft drinks were flat and served in very small plastic cups. For about $70 for two entrées and an appetizer, we expected much better quality. The outdoor seating was covered with picnic tables, which was a nice break from the Florida sun and probably the most comfortable part of the meal. The atmosphere, however, wasn't what we expected. The staff spent much of the time sitting at a nearby table using profanity, and we never felt particularly welcome. As visitors, we got the impression that locals were the priority and tourists were just passing through. The one bright spot was the property itself. Seeing the Key deer and colorful chameleons wandering around made for some great photos and was honestly the highlight of our visit. Maybe this is a better stop if you're looking for a place to grab a drink and enjoy the atmosphere, but based on our experience, we wouldn't come back for the food.
