**VEGAN REVIEW** Been looking for a banh mi place in Knoxville and I think I found it! Pros: great place to study! Lots of tables (plugs are currently only available against the walls) Ordered: 1) Logan kumquat fruit tea 8/10 2) Tofu Chay without mayo butter 10/10 Currently (7/2/25) their milk tea is premade with nondairy creamer (contains a milk derivative) - so it's not vegan. Hoping that they'll add an alternative milk option in the future.

    Banana matcha and taro tea

Awesome lil bahn mi spot with great drinks. We also ordered kimchi fries which was fire but didn't get pictured. Would definitely recommend

Side note the walk up window was so cute. Immediately upon walking in I was in awe. The attention to detail in this shop was top tier design. The ladies working when we went were so sweet and very helpful. I also really love the swag that they have. I am kicking myself for not buying the denim hat! Now onto the coffee. I tried the Blueberry Crisp Latte. The notes of the blueberry were good. Not overpowering and just the right bit of top and bottom. I love to taste the flavor as a finishing note as well. My daughter had a Vanilla Frappe which she enjoyed. I definitely will return whenever I am in Knoxville.

The staff was super friendly, the inside was super clean, all the things you'd hope for in a coffee shop. It was also nice to not feel herded along like you would at a Starbucks or donut shops that happen to sell coffee. I cannot vouch for any other flavors yet, I need more time to really get into it - see you soon! Get here!

The staff is great. They are super nice & pretty fast. The espresso is delicious. Though, I must admit that the flavor is diluted as a latte. I recommend an iced cappuccino if you prefer a coffee forward drink. I love it with the brown sugar syrup! I like trying the seasonal flavors, especially since they make syrups in house. My favorite right now (spring 2026) is the banana bread latte. Parking does get tight during peak hours, but something always opens up or you could try the neighboring lots if you're doing a quick stop.

The first day we came, the girls behind the counter weren't very nice. Well one of them was, the other wasn't very nice to me and I was kind of taking a minute to think. I wanted their strawberry matcha but they were out of strawberry (so sad). I got a brown sugar cortado instead and two bags of coffee for home. I also wanted a sticker but they were out. The cortado was delicious. Very good drink. My friend got a BOAT (brown sugar oatmilk latte) and that was also very good. I ordered a honey lavender matcha after and that was also very good! Great color on it! The next day we came & two guys were working the counter. They were nicer for whatever reason. I order another cortado. I also ordered first in my group and they actually forgot about my drink. The guy was super apologetic about it and we had a good laugh! I love cafe culture and this place has all the vibes with the really good coffee too! Just upset that they were out of strawberry and stickers

Everything looked very clean, including the bathrooms, and the staff was friendly with good recommendations. I ordered the hot honey bagel $2.50 with scallion cream cheese $2.60 (3.25oz cup) and a honey lavender latte $8.00 with almond milk. The bagel was a little dry for my taste (being a New Yorker I'm used to NYC-style bagels), but the cream cheese was smooth/flavorful, perfectly creamy with the right chive ratio. The lavender latte was excellent--fragrant and really well balanced. Be ready to spend a bit. My BAGEL/cream cheese and latte came out to almost $15. Still a nice spot and I'd come back for the latte and the vibe.

Looked at their menu online and they served matcha -- let's go! The inside is deceiving from the outside. It seems like a small little coffee shop, but once inside it's HUGE. Lots of seating, including hanging chairs. Will have to check those out next time. I saw a specialty drink on the menu with espresso and rosemary simple syrup. You do NOT want to see me on coffee/espresso!! I figured I'd just add the rosemary simple syrup to my matcha. The server told me it was a "weird rule" that they're not allowed to add their "specialty drinks" syrups to any other drinks. I was disappointed, but I'll live. Maybe someday this "rule" can go away? I'll cross my fingers. Got my matcha with almond milk, it was very good. My husband got his dark coffee. It was a good Sunday.

I ordered The Farmer, a chicken biscuit with cheese, bacon, and apple butter. The biscuit was warm and fresh, the bacon was crispy, and the chicken patty was quite substantial. The poor thing was drowning in apple butter though, which made it too wet (and too sweet). Even scraping some of it off it was already too soggy. A tad less sauce and it would be perfectly balanced. The smashbrowns had a nice crisp and I enjoyed the kick of the pepper jam. Also, big fan of the cute coffee bar. I could taste the hints of maple in the coffee. If I have to eat out for breakfast, Maple Street seems to be a good choice. And yes, this location is on Kingston Pike not Maple Street.

Unfortunate for me though, I had to sit right under an air conditioning duct. I bet that the gentlemen were wishing that it was my girlfriend who had that seat. (I think you get the points.) Our meals were as fresh as can be, and tasty too. We had no problem cleaning our plates. It was fairly crowded when we got there. But if you don't mind sharing a table, you'll find a spot for sure. There's outside seating if you like. Quick Tip: Get there early, or get there late, cause if you get there during prime chow down, you'll be lucky to find a seat. Even the cold zone will be occupied. You may want to wear a bra....Just in case.

I came here three mornings in a row while in Knoxville--which, for me, says a lot. The coffee is fantastic. It's thoughtful, well-made, and feels created with purpose. The menu reads like it was put together by someone who genuinely likes coffee and wants you to experience something beyond the standard routine. I tried the Iced Vanilla Cloud Latte, and you can taste the difference between something simply flavored and something actually crafted. Then there are the bagels. Next level. They're sourced through a local sourdough bakery and are exactly the kind of addition that completes the experience. Good enough that instead of grabbing your coffee and inhaling breakfast in traffic, you actually want to sit down, eat, and stay awhile. And that's really what makes Primo Passo work: the place has a vibe. It's young, vibrant and genuinely local. Sitting here in the mornings, I watched people come in who clearly knew one another. They'd grab coffee, talk about their day, discuss business, catch up for a few minutes and then head out. I watched that happen over and over again. It feels less like a business trying to manufacture a neighborhood coffee-shop atmosphere and more like one naturally becoming part of the neighborhood. It's also truly tucked away. Located beneath residential housing in a mixed-use development, this is the kind of place you can drive right past if you aren't specifically looking for it. Trust me: look for it. There are bigger names and plenty of convenient options nearby, but convenience isn't really the point here. Primo Passo is about the coffee, the process and the experience. Places like this become local staples because people support them while they're still becoming one. If you're in Knoxville for business, live nearby and want to change up your morning routine, or simply appreciate genuinely good coffee, put Primo Passo on your radar. This could easily become my go-to coffee shop if I lived here. Maybe it's the coffee. Maybe it's the bagels. Maybe it's the atmosphere. After spending three consecutive mornings here, I think it's a little bit of all three. Whatever they're doing, it works. And it works very well. There is more to the coffee experience than ordering through an app and getting a thank-you message written on your cup. Sometimes it's about the taste, the process, the people and taking the time to actually enjoy the experience. Primo Passo reminded me of that.
