I didn't try any of the sushi rolls, my wife prefers rolls where I prefer nigiri, and couldn't finish my ramen I was soo full since this was technically our second meal of the night - and I really liked the tonkotsu broth. Service was quick, and was checked on multiple times, fast on drink refills. It's very trendy feeling, with Japanese Anime being projected on the wall. I will be back to try more offerings - they show bluefin otoro on the menu and I'm a sucker for some fatty tuna - haven't seen that one anyone's menu around Knoxville so I'm excited to come back and give it a try.

Great food, horrible service. Took daughter and mother out this weekend and four tables that arrived after us were served first. When I complained I was told the assistant manager wouldn't discount our meal. When I asked for the gm I was told he would pull video tapes and then call me. I have been a regular at this restaurant for years and have never had the first problem. I am disgusted at how I was treated during this last visit. I have never heard from the gm and to have an assistant manager make such a statement, implying I was lying and needed a surveillance review was enough to ensure I will never eat or recommend anyone to Kobes again. It is clear this place is set up primarily for takeout and delivery, so I am basing this review on the food alone. I had the hibachi chicken and shrimp with the tiger roll. The hibachi was delicious and full of flavor, and the fried rice held its own instead of being filler. Both the chicken and the shrimp were cooked to perfection, and the vegetables hit that happy medium between squish and crunch that hibachi places miss surprisingly often. The tiger roll was good. I am not a big sushi person, so I cannot tell you whether it was average or exceptional for what it was, but it was fresh and I enjoyed it. Solid four out of five. Definitely better than I expected walking in the door. Note: Service was not rated because, as said, the establishment is clearly designed around take-out with a very basic dine-in experience.

Their sodas are all bottled (got a Diet Coke) so no free refills here. Food came out hot and fresh, which I appreciated. Crab rangoons were crispy and the filling wasn't overly thick. Went well with their standard sweet dipping sauce. California roll tasted fresh, cucumbers were bright and flavorful along with the avocado. Steak was cooked properly and shrimp was plump and juicy. Vegetables in the hibachi were typical broccoli, zucchini, carrots and mushrooms packed separately from the fried rice. It came with a sauce similar to yum yum sauce for dipping the steak and shrimp into. The fried rice wasn't anything of note and barely had any egg but considering the price point for everything that's not a big deal. I can definitely picture ordering this to go or through a delivery service in the future as everything was neatly packaged. The vibe for the dine in is unremarkable so really no need to sit and eat there. I'll be back to try more hibachi combos and appetizers as they were my favorite offerings!
