Nice old school spot for homemade meal. We stopped in for breakfast and really enjoyed it. The mask policy seemed pretty loose, but distancing was in place. Loved this place. We have been to a lot of fish fries this year and I had it in my head we need to go to WI for good ones. Well.... Bobby you proved me wrong. This fish fry was awesome. It is a smaller place and they get busy but we were seated in about 20 minutes. The fish fry is all you can eat and u have a choice of beer battered cod, broiled lemon pepper cod, garlic butter cod or Cajun cod and u can mix and match if you'd like. The sides are great. OMG... didn't expect to love this place, but can't wait to go back. My partner introduced me prior to COVID and I just loved the place. Nice diner feel with diner and dinner entrees. If you want to feel 'at home' this is the place. We haven't been back since COVID openings, but I suspect we'll be back soon (getting my vaccine soon!). read more

Stopped here on a Friday around 4:30pm. There were 7 of us and they had room. It's not a very big place but it is very good! Certainly family friendly. The owners and staff were great as well as the service. We ordered a variety of foods and everyone liked what they got. Fish fry, Reuben sandwich, broasted chicken and more. I had the fish fry which is definitely worth it but next time I'm going to get the broasted chicken. read more

We're locals and haven't been here in a long time. That being said, we're now on visit three in the last two weeks. We absolutely love it here. It's a dive bar so don't expect fancy. Don't expect a ton of space. Don't expect updated anything. Don't expect anything pretentious or frilly. What you can expect is a legendary breakfast, smiling staff and really solid bloody Mary's. If you are here on a weekend, be prepared to wait. You're going to get good value for your money and maybe a conversation about the Bears (or Packers). If you're a regular... they'll call you by name and ask how your family is doing. This place is home away from home. You won't be disappointed. This is a local joint that we want to keep a secret but we don't mind sharing as long as you enjoy down home cooking and midwestern love. read more

We've been coming here for years. Food is good (a little pricey for this type of hole-in-the wall), but do not....I repeat, DO NOT ask for a box on fish fry Friday. You will then be quizzed if you ordered an additional piece of fish. If you respond YES, your plate will be dumped at the bar, right in front of you, and a lecture on food cost from the owner will follow. They'd rather dump food that has already been plated than to give a box. Ok. I'll now go to Golf Farm down the road for fish and skip the lecture. Solution: If this is your policy, state it at the time of reordering fish. Now, how easy was that? read more

It's only been a few months since my last review, but we've been here several times since then and this place has really gone downhill. I always get the same thing - the hobo skillet - and each time the hashbrowns on the bottom are undercooked. One time, they were actually raw and crunchy. The dish has a ton of grease in it. And the eggs on top - even though I ask for them over-medium - are always over-easy. Today they weren't even over-easy; they were more like poached. My english muffin today was so rock hard and stale, I couldn't even bite into it. I don't know if they got these from another place other than their usual (Fox Lake bakery), or if indeed these muffins were just stale. We had no silverware or napkins on our table and had to ask for those. The service is bizarre and disorganized - there are no designated servers for each table. We had four different servers - one bringing our drinks, another taking our orders, another bringing the food, another ringing up the bill afterwards. No one seems to know what they're really supposed to be doing. Prices are too expensive for such a dive-bar with barely-mediocre food, too. $30+ for a hobo skillet, chicken wrap, fries and two iced teas. read more

We have been going to Bobby's for years but this was the 1st time I had the Ciabatta Chicken Sandwich and it was EXCELLENT!! I had a martini and it was also excellent. I have never had a bad meal at Bobby's. Their breakfast specials are amazing and portions are always huge. I recommend Bobby's for breakfast, lunch or dinner when you are looking for someplace with a casual atmosphere to go enjoy a meal. read more

Pretty slow service. We had two waitresses tending to us, and still couldn't get the food to us in a somewhat timely manner. They are hardly even busy. Our first round came quickly, the second took almost 25 minutes, the third only about 5-10. Not to mention a simple Malibu and coke was nearly 8$. After having two, not knowing the cost, the drinks costed more than my all you can eat fish fry dinner. Pretty sad. And the cod was pretty thin pieces. I tried to ask to take my one piece I had left home, knowing they would just throw it out, and they told me they do not allow the refills to go home. ‍ overall, a very odd experience. read more

Everyone was friendly. Nothing particularly unique or special about the menu or the experience. Typical breakfast fare. It came out fresh and quickly. I was given the wrong person's meal- they quickly swapped it out with the right thing. A couple of servers made their political affiliations known. Politics are the last thing I want to hear about when I'm getting breakfast on a Saturday morning- regardless of what side. You also don't know what side your patrons fall on. Based on Yelp reviews we tried Bobby's for lunch today. Food was good. Service was fine. Two of us ordered 2 tuna salad wraps, 2 ice teas, 1 chips, 1 fries. We were pleased with the food and service. The place doesn't look like much from the outside, is an old school bar, is clean but not a place I'd ever take a date. Then, the bill came. With tax and tip, $34!!!! $17 each for tuna wraps, ice tea, fries/chips. No way! We like to support local, "Mom & Pop" places, and up until we got the bill, we thought we might come back. A quaint hole in the wall done with good food. I've been here for Sunday breakfast and Bloody Mary's and this was the first time for their Friday fish fry. Our regular Friday fish fry place was flooded so I quickly looked on yelp for the local fish fry establishments. Bobby's was close! I really liked how they had 4 flavors of fish. Lemon pepper, beer battered, garlic and herb, and cajun. We tried them all! All were delicious. I'd recommend the lemon pepper. The service was friendly and speedy! We went at an off peak time. This is definitely a hidden gem and a hole in the wall place with fantastic food and customer service. I would highly recommend heading here to try their Friday night fish fry...you can get cod cooked up 3 different ways. They have some other good food, too, but I have only had the fish fry and killer desert. Make sure to get here early or plan to wait as there are very few tables. They do have a counter and you can always sit there for a small group of 2 or so. read more

Wowza! This place is good! 3 adults, 3 different meals and I tried all of them. The meatloaf was amazing. It was moist and flavorful paired perfectly with the best buttery mash potatoes. The steak superior (I'm pretty sure that's the name) was perfectly cooked, and had the perfect ratio of cheese to caramelized onions. The burger was good. The cole slaw was creamy and good. I was in the are and there weren't many options to choose from. This place is certainly a hole in the wall with a menu and bar selection you'd expect from the looks of it. If you're looking for a neighborhood tavern where you can let it all hang out and grab a beer, this place is for you. If you're looking for decent wine or cocktails outside of a rum and coke, venture elsewhere. For food, they have lots of fried options (bar food) and not many healthier items to choose from. They do have nightly specials (Tuesday = all you can eat chicken). The staff was extremely friendly, just don't think this venue was quite my cup of tea. read more
