We've been here a few time, but this is my first review. Like many other local ice cream shops, the food is reasonably priced and good. What you really come for is the ice cream. There's plenty of choices to choose from and the staff was pleasant. If you're in the area I would suggest hitting up this establishment instead of the local chain restaurant.

Stopped by one afternoon while in the area. They have pretty standard faire here, subs, wraps, burgers, and awesome milkshakes & ice cream. Dishes were served quickly, and prices were fair. I think $4.25 for a kids meal? The meals, hotdog & chicken nuggets w/ fries were packaged in a sort of 1950's paper convertible car, so that got the kids excited. The restaurant is themed around the locals school districts sports teams, the Northeastern Bobcats. It sports the local colors of Black & Orange, which excited my older son because he inherited a York Little league shirt from a co-worker. http://www.nesd.k12.pa.us/

Zoom in on that! Ridiculous. $7.95 for this!

I placed my order online and went with a Hefty size Classic Cheesesteak, and a Husky size Philly Special Hoagie. Total after tax/tip was $34.00. How were they? Cheesesteak- Fantastic! Nice seeded bread, tons of meat and cooper sharp cheese. Onions were cut a little big and laid on top, so they started to fall all over the place (eat this outside your car, trust me!) while I was eating. Flavors were great, though! Damn fine cheesesteak and I would definitely return to get another. Hoagie- This thing was packed with goodies! They also use the "meat blanket" technique that I have only seen at LaSpadas down in Florida, previously. All the ingredients were well put together, HUGE, good bread, but there was a lack of tang in the olive oil/vinegar dressing. It was basically absent. That's why the 4 stars. Maybe you need to order extra or more vinegar? Something was definitely needed though. It was pretty plain tasting. Don't get me wrong, it was still a good sandwich, but it could have been a GREAT sandwich with some extra flavor of the oil/vinegar. This would definitely be my sandwich spot if I lived in York!

Holy gee-whiz! It's been nearly two years since I went to The Spot and I was happy to get back. I…read morevisited The Spot twice this week and enjoyed a club sandwich both days -- they are so huge and packed with delicious cheese and meat and has thick, lean, crunchy bacon on it. I joked with Jenni that it's a 20-minute sandwich because that's how long it takes to eat. I brought a coworker yesterday and she had a reuben sandwich which she said was outstanding. She tried the chicken and rice soup and said it was wonderful so I tried that today and agree that it was totally worth the $3.99 -- hot, rich, full of chicken and packed with flavor. Today I took another coworker and she loved her sandwich and raved about her tomato bisque soup. Something happened at The Spot that I've never seen before and we were impressed. There were two other customers talking to each other while we were eating. One of them was a (very) loud talker and the owner quietly and discretely went up to her and said he could hear her across the dining room and reminded her other people (us) were eating and would she please lower her voice. He did this with sensitivity and respect but it worked and we were able to enjoy the remainder of our meals in peace. When the loud talker left, we thanked the owner and told him we had never seen anyone do such a thing before. That was just awesome! The sandwiches and soup are so amazing and it's wonderful to support a small, local business. I suspect I'll be back in the area in the next few months and you can believe I will be back and bringing another coworker along.

And I don't say this lightly -- it's the only one that competes with my own. Then the pizza showed up. Sourdough crust -- light, crisp, perfectly blistered. It felt vintage! Our waitress was great. We came for the thin crust tavern style pizza everyone raves about (heads up this is a special and was no longer going on). She was able to convince the chefs to make one for us! The price of their items for the quantity you get does not match up well. We understand local and higher quality ingredients but about 6 bucks for 30 fries is a little steep. The Tavern Style Pizza was around 25 dollars. We also got a chicken biscuit sandwich for our group and it didnt come with the side it was supposed. My rating is a 4 star based on taste and quality of the food, but the prices vs the amount of the food limiting it from a 5 star. The tavern style pizza had great taste and flavor. I see why people rave about it. I would like to go back and try their archetype pizza and detroit style. The chicken egg biscuit sandwich was also delicious! Overall, we want to go back and try other items. Know it cost a little more than your local pizza shops.
