After making several attempts to get my car into an auto repair shop on a Sunday morning due to a check engine light coming on during a road trip, I ran across Bob's Auto Repair. I called the shop early Sunday morning and along with being greeted in a very pleasant manner, I was told I could bring the car in right away. The mechanic on duty asked what the problem was and really listened to what I had to say. He asked follow up questions, to better understand what I had experienced with the car and then went to work to make a diagnosis regarding the problem. He not only hooked it up to a diagnostic system but drove the car as well. He communicated what he was thinking each step of the way and never once made me feel inept or that my understanding of the car's challenge was not important. I've had my share of experiences where my input was discounted, ignored, or even belittled--especially when it comes to technical matters. However, that was absolutely not the case with this mechanic. He was respectful, attentive, and genuinely valued my opinion. He took the time to listen and explain things clearly, which made the experience not only smooth but empowering. It was a refreshing change. They sent my car to my home with the window opened in minus degrees. I can't close my window or open my tailgate to take out my stuff because the battery died. They said they knew my battery was dead then they probably knew what would happen if they sent the car with the window opened. They refused to come and close the window.(Just 8 miles away). It is -6 degrees outside. They will be responsible for all the damage caused by cold weather/snow. read more

I was heading out to dinner with family from out of town when my back window decided to give out. It went down on its own and wouldn't go back up. I called and spoke with Brian. He told me to come on in and when I arrived he was super helpful. He told me it would be around 200 to fix. When I told him I couldn't afford that at the moment he wedged it up so that the window would stay closed and no rain could get in. This was such a lifesaver. It was Saturday night, no one else was open and it was forecasted to rain the next day. they also checked out my engine light and let me know how much it would be for a part I needed and cleaned it off for me while I was there (he quoted me about 200 less than my usual mechanic did) He didn't charge me for anything but he definitely gained a life long customer! I brought my Aztek in after it broke down on the highway! My roadside assistance suggested a few shops; one thing I have learned with mechanics is to go to a mom and pop place. I am SO glad I trusted my gut! Immediately Bobby heard the engine and told me what he thought it was. He was patient with my lack of knowledge of cars and even called my dad for me to explain it to him! My dad lives in Arizona! It was so nice! Went back to Bob when I was having some engine problems (nothing related to my previous visit a couple months back). Again he came back and confirmed my suspicions about the problem. The engine was shot and I needed a whole new setup. He gave me a quote on the engine and labor but I ultimately decided to just sell the shell of the car. It wasn't because the price was too steep or I doubted his ability, but because I was ready to be done with that model for the time being (didn't want to risk having same engine problem with the replacement). Even after I had decided not to give him the extra work, he barely charged me a fraction of what I was expecting for the diagnosis. So I was happy to give him a little extra to show my appreciation and walked out as a satisfied customer yet again. read more

My car was extreme loud after they fixed my timing chain, the told us they can pick my car up for free and then they found out there's a home in my muffler and the other mechanic (s and t automotive) put a wrong sensor in my car. I have known Bob for years but I can see why he's only got one review in the past 4 years. About a year ago my car went in for the tire pressure light. Bob "fixed" it for several hundred dollars and then the light went on again. He said it wasn't the right sensor and "fixed" it again, same thing, was ok for about a week. I do not live close to the area anymore (about 30 min away), so every time I try to call, no one answers. No call back, they were obviously avoiding my calls. The reason I am writing this now is that of all places Wal-Mart told me when I had the tires rotated recently to get the sensor for $48 on amazon and they'd put it in for $10. Bobby charged about $400 when all was said and done. Had a similar experience with him a couple years back with exhaust, fixed after 3 tries and 3 charges. Great person, but I think he lost his ability to fix cars, not a crook, just incompetent. read more
