Was lied to the last time I went in and asked for Marco and was told he was not there at the time. Brought my car in for an oil change and still no Marco and when asked was then told after they did the change that he no longer worked here!!! Finally tracked Marco down and will NEVER GO BACK TO THE NorthShore Meineke location as they lied to get me to bring in my car and led me to believe that Marco was just not in at that time. The reputation of North Shore must have been earned while they were an independent shop. I was concerned when finding out they're now Meineke and i should have followed my instincts. It has all the flaws of your typical national auto shop franchise: slick sales tactics and EXTREMELY overpriced and expensive products. I went in due to a wobbling steering wheel. Inspections revealed that my tires are badly worn, need an alignment and also somehow some rear shocks. The price quoted: $2700!! I asked for a price breakdown and the shocks alone were over $900!! the tires quoted were almost $300 per tire! They play that game of "im just quoting what the computer suggests". see thats the "Meineke effect". Same issue as any Firestone or CarX. Do yourself a favor---save your money and go elsewhere. I literally just left saying wow I've never met better people in my life. Markos Dad was sitting next to me the whole time chatting while they worked on my car. He's a stand up guy as well and it reflects in his son. They did great work on my car and they give honest quotes. I came across North Shore Motor Works using Yelp. My son needed a new alternator and my mechanic is very far away so I thought I would see if I could find someone closer to home. I decided to work with North Shore because their price was fair and I trusted Marco immediately. Since my first visit, I have referred friends, and They have all been very pleased. I was just amazed at how friendly the people were. Something other shops are lacking to my concerns about the problem with my front brake making noise. Northshore Motor Works replaced my battery during a vehicle check up about 1 year ago. When I went to my car today, to go to work, it was completely dead. I called Motor Works and they sent someone out to jump my vehicle which I then I drove to the shop. They changed my battery for free as it was still under a two year warranty they provided. (I've been going to them since 2011, even now, as we've moved farther away). Pros: +They're honest (seriously) +They do their best to make you happy with the prices and the parts (they're good parts & won't even suggest selling you junk) +You're free to order the parts from somewhere else (like RockAuto.com, for instance), and have them shipped to the shop. They'll let you know when it gets there, install it, and only charge you for the labor - I've done this several times - they even suggested it! +They do a great job and they know their stuff. + if they check it out and your car needs work on it, they'll run it by you first to let you know what you're looking at and how much you will be needing to pay before doing any work on it. + Nice waiting area + Free Wi-Fi (they'll give you the code to get on) + If you need a part that day, they can usually get it within the hour, as you wait + "Anything that compromises safety, we won't do." Absolutely amazing customer service! Marko always goes above and beyond. When a recent drive train control module issue started on my vehicle, Marko told me not to trust the Dealer when they tried to charge me almost $3000 for repairs. He referred me to a transmission repair service in DesPlaines who quickly identified and repaired the issue at a fraction of what the dealer was charging. Marko made no money off this transaction, yet he made sure that I was well taken care of and not taken advantage of. There are three things you want in your mechanic experience. "You want them to be honest direct and know what the heck they're taking about", so said my father, a mechanic for 16 years. My father was the motivation for the pickle I got myself into, and Zach helped me out of over at North Shore. I got it in my head that I could change out my own catalytic convertor(+O2 sensors) cheaper than the thieves over at Midas. "My dad could have done it, why not me?" I thought. YouTube helped me out with the particulars and I got all the parts I needed for about $600. Unfortunately, though there are no moving parts and the procedure is very easy, time and extreme heat had created an unbeatable rust shield. I couldn't get the damn thing off. When I finally admitted I was beaten, I called these guys up, Zach(Owner) was knowledgeable and understanding. He understood we didn't need to talk about the rust beating me like a rented mule. He was happy to see I had all the parts needed and he quoted me a very reasonable price for instillation. Zach knew a bit about my CR-V off hand, obviously he'd worked on a few. The patrons there were mostly, *ahem* older gentlemen, so that might be why they don't have a ton of reviews. However the place was clearly doing well, with a good turn over, cars coming and going, another thing good mechanics have. They were done with my car before I finished my burger at Morrison's. In short I spent half what I would have at Midas. I'll be back for an alignment after I change my struts... Possibly sooner. Footnote, they are AAA certified mechanics. read more

Everybody loves a parade! So I'm jumping on the bandwagon. Took our Nissan Rouge to NSMW as a result of the rave reviews (tired of Nissan dealers being less than honorable). Marko the owner received me when I got there. I explained what may be the issue (my sons friend, gear head hobbyist) thought there was a problem with the drivers side front axle and the front breaks probably should be looked at (noise when braking). Marko said he'd look at within the hour and give me a call. lo' and behold about 30 minutes later he called and explained what needed to be addressed and what it would cost. I gave him the go ahead and he said it would be done by midafternoon. Wonders never cease, he called around three-ish and they were done.
