Deluxe burger with garlic fries and fry sauce.

Most epic burgers and fries. Been going here since the 80's. Garlic fries and a burger. The best!

Double Chef Cheeseburger. It was delicious!

It's a cute little place serves really good food. The fries are crispy and the burgers favorable.

Footlong chili cheese dog comes with mustard and relish toppings.

Roadside dives are my kryptonite and I literally swung the car around when I passed Bob's footlongs. "I mean, just LOOK at it," I beamed to my traveling companion, who looked at me like I was from Mars. (She ended up enjoying it too, by the way). The interior is as old school as the exterior, but it was very clean. The employees were welcoming and friendly, and the prices were more than fair. The place has been around since 1949 and it always warms my heart to see restaurants like this hanging on for so many years. The menu focuses on hot dogs, burgers, fries (regular and garlic) and milkshakes. All of the food looked good and smelled deliciously greasy, but the GOOD kind of greasy. Bob's has footlong in the name so like any good foodie knows, that's what you need to order. I opted for a chili cheese footlong to share and a soda. The hot dog was well prepared and nicely griddled and was split down the middle for maximum topping exposure. The skin had a nice "pop" when you bit into it, and the bun was fluffy and soft. The cheese was absolute perfection, it was real shredded cheddar cheese and not the all too typical lazy fake squirt cheese (bleh). The chili was quite tasty but had way too many beans in it to earn a fifth star. I hate chili with beans, and bean-filled chili on a hot dog is just blasphemous to all things holy in the world of food.

Waited 50 minutes for one hotdog, although it was pretty good when it was finally ready.

Couldn't be happier that the new ownership has brought back a part of Fortuna's yummy history.

Service not good, rude staff. I also found a hair in my food. Wouldn't eat here again. Plenty of other choices in Fortuna and in Humboldt.

Super greasy, great food and shakes if you're looking for an all American burger joint. Old school burger joint atmosphere.

It's a smaller place, with just a nice little coffee shop vibe. My server was Abigail. She was very friendly. I asked her if the name of the restaurant was a play on the TV show "Hells kitchen," and she confirmed that yes, it was. I thought it was clever. I decided to have the "vegetable mess. " Potatoes, onions, bell peppers, garlic, mild green chiles and eggs, "all messed up". It came Topped with jack cheese, salsa and sour cream. I had them leave off the bell peppers, and I paid a little bit more for them to add mushrooms and spinach. The "mess" came, and it was huge!! It was also delicious! The eggs were fluffy, you could definitely taste the garlic, and all of the veggies played very well with each other. The cheese was delicious, and it was just the right amount The chilies had a good flavor, and yes, they were mild The potatoes were good, and just the right texture as well. I liked the sour cream, and the salsa was not spicy at all. It had a bit of a smoky flavor. The thing was so huge, I had some to take home. The toast was a good quality sourdough, the coffee was great, and they kept my cup full. The price was reasonable. Thanks for a great breakfast. I will be back.

The BBQ sauce on it was ok-not great sauce. Generous meat portion. Although I would have preferred a different bbq sauce, the sandwich was really great. $22. On top of that, the entire facility was exceptionally clean, and having live sports playing was a fantastic add-on to the vibe. When it comes to the food, the portions are incredibly generous and you definitely get plenty of food for what you pay. However, while the quantity and value are there, the actual quality of the food could be improved a bit. Overall, it was a really good experience! If they can just elevate the food quality a notch, this place would be a 5/5. Still highly recommend stopping by for the great hospitality and atmosphere!

Our service was 5 star which helped since we were exhausted. I have a super strong recommendation for the Cali 101 sandwich. It might be one of the sandwiches I've ever had. The fried parmesan on the tops of the bread sealed the deal. My wife asked for a custom burger. Mind you, the kitchen was closing but chef pulled off a beautiful dish. I don't normally photo food but wish I did. My wife goes bun-less and they served the dish on a bed of spinach (which she requested and they had to dig for it). To do all that as the kitchen is closing says something. They could have just thrown it on top. I am completely stealing that one. I love amber ale and they make a good one.
