We had bypassed where we were to have breakfast originally because the parking was full. We decided to stop here instead. I'm glad we did because we liked everything about it. Let me start with the greeting we received as we walked in. It was kind and very welcoming. We were seated right away. We were seated at a booth, window seating. It was nice because it was raining and you could see the green of the landscape and raindrops, very tranquil to enjoy our breakfast. Our food order was to our table in no time! I had ordered the country fried steak which came with 2 eggs cooked as you liked it, and choice of bread or hash browns. Scrambled eggs, and hash browns for me please. Everything was cooked just right! My decaf coffee was refilled a couple of times and it was very good on a cold, and rainy day. The restaurant was quite busy. Table and booth seating were available. The decor was cozy and rustic perfect for being not too far from the Redwood's, hence the name of the restaurant. The service was very friendly, helpful and quick. Hopefully we will be able to have a bite here again next year!

The ambiance is chill and roomy. The service is Amazing!!!! They're so attentive, fast, professional and fast!! They get people in and out. The food is delicious. I ordered my eggs over easy and they were cooked perfect, the potatoes are so good seasoned and cooked to perfection. I love a good breakfast If you're ever in this area you have to stop by and try this cafe out. You will not be disappointed!! They serve breakfast all day

    Comfortable clean, and friendly.

Stopped by again for a hardy breakfast. "Shout out" to Megan who is usually my waitress. She is amazing. That woman can really multitask! I always enjoy the homey feeling at the Redwood Cafe. This morning I had the bacon avacado omelet. Its becoming one of my favorites. Portions are generous and prices are on point.

The portions and quality of food is amazing! No complaints, delicious and hot!

Food and service are amazing! The portions are impressive and the food is cooked perfectly! The biggest cryptic would have nothing to complain about with this place!

We love to try new breakfast/ brunch places so we decide to check out Redwood Cafe. First, the decor is dated and the booths uncomfortable but the service was great. We were greeted and seated quickly. Our server was quick to bring beverages and do check backs. They have a full breakfast lunch menu with the standard things. To the point that we received our food things were pretty good. However, the food is only mediocre to average. My steak and eggs breakfast was ok. Maybe even, pretty good. Steak was overcooked but had flavor. My husband's breakfast though was sub par. The "ham steak" looked and tasted like a big slab of spam. His waffle was barely like warm and didn't melt the butter. His potatoes and toast were edible but not very hot. I shared my hashbrowns with him because they were pretty good. The coffee refills did keep coming. We also tried a cinnamon roll but found them very dry and real cinnamon flavor. Sorry to say, we probably won't return. If you read my reviews often, you know I don't like to give negative reviews but this is a fair restaurant.

Found this absolutely adorable old school cafe in Fortuna on the way to The Avenue of the Giants. Great place to stop and fill your belly with a cheap and delicious breakfast. Had the special steak and eggs for $10.95. Nice size NY steak with three eggs hash browns and an English Muffin. Fresh squeezed OJ to wash it down. What a deal!! Customer service was impeccable. It was like the good old days.

If you're up north visiting Avenue of the Giants or the Lost Coast and need a good hearty meal, this is a great place to stop. Friendly and attentive service. I ordered the chicken fried steak and eggs with biscuits and was given generous portions. The gravy was tasty and had bits of sausage in it. Perfect for biscuit dipping. The steak was perfect. Nice crisp crust but tender inside. House coffee was decent. My over easy eggs were perfect and not runny. Wanted pancakes but I wouldn't have been able to get out of my booth if I ordered them

Kids menu Pancake and sausage. Delicious!

I wasn't happy about it but I decided to let it slide and hoped the food would make up for it. I was extremely disappointed with the food. My eggs Benny's egg whites were still runny, English muffin absolutely soggy and disgusting, with a thin slice of deli ham. The potatoes (that I wasn't informed or asked if I wanted onions or peppers by the way) were so grease soaked and cold that they were actually inedible. My partner's chicken fried steak was way overcooked, hard and tough. Just all around terrible. TLDR; given the completely wrong drink, food was impossible to get down, and no concern of my uneaten food by the server or owner. Not worth it at all.

I had the "Alliecat's Favorite Toast". It was absolutely delicious. Thick slices of sourdough topped with a smashed avocado, two eggs over-easy, very tasty cherry tomatoes, drizzled with olive oil and sea salt. The room has some really cool farm-type decorations, a hardwood floor, but the tables are far enough apart that you can talk to your guests and not have trouble hearing each other. I'm a bit of a coffee snob, so l asked about the beans - they actually brought the bag over and walked me through it. I got an Americano and it was excellent. My wife ordered the Honey Town Latte and loved it because it wasn't overly sweet. Then the food came - I had the ham and cheese croissant and it blew me away. Tangy honey mustard, a bit of pickled onion, melted cheese, and a poached egg on a fresh, toasted croissant. So much flavor. Honestly, while other places in town have long waits, this place delivered on flavor, coffee, and hospitality!

First visit, we had the cafe miel and cheesy Toastie. I never thought I would enjoy honey in my coffee and I'm not even a coffee drinker but this would make me convert. It was perfectly balanced. The Toastie was a simple but tasty snack. I was almost tempted to order another one. I had to go back the next day to have breakfast and try their Cup of Sunshine. Another unique yummy drink if you like chamomile tea with frothy milk/cinnamon on top. I also ordered: Carrot cake muffin - moist and had blueberries on top. Eggy bagel - open faced bagel. Forgot to take a picture before I dove right in. Poached eggs were perfectly cooked, yolk perfectly runny. Puppaccino - my dog gave it a 25/10 (they have a pup menu under Classics! It's small so don't miss it!). Place is kept really nice and clean. Portable speaker placed inside a potted plant - super cute and funny. Love their music choice, chill vibes and I think it keeps the plant happy because it's green and a decent size! Service was super friendly. They even remembered us from our first visit and welcomed us. Definitely recommend and will definitely be coming back if I am ever in the area again.

Okay, fine -- maybe dogs aren't allowed in certain areas, not a big deal. So we figured we'd just order the food to go instead. Nope. Two days in a row we were told they couldn't do takeout. At that point, it just felt like there was zero flexibility or willingness to work with customers. That's really disappointing, especially for a place with such a good reputation. Howeverrrr I did wish they at least acknowledged us and said the normal "hey guys so sorry, we're closing down for the day, feel free to check out the menu though and for next time our hours are ..." you know ? I work at a cafe myself so maybe this is personal preference but I've always been told not to ignore potential customers so out right. We came back today a few weeks later since I did want to try it and today our service was better, the girl at the counter was nice ! That's about it though, it's a self serve, self sitting, self table-bussing type place so it really can't be impressive since you kinda do it all yourself anyway but she was nice ‍ Drinks / food : Fiance and I ordered coffees, they were okay- good, not great but whatever. The food though was really where things went wrong. I ordered a kids waffle because I really wasn't all that hungry but my husband was so he ordered the full sized waffle. UHHHHHHH They're the same size ? I was really confused about this because the kids one is $9 which is fine but the adult one was $16 if I remember right and it was the same exact waffle but with whipped cream on top. Mine came with syrup but his did not which I also thought was kinda odd, we ended up just sharing mine anyway but why would something almost double the price be the same size as a child's plate.. The size of the waffle was the size of *maybe* 2 frozen eggs waffles, but possibly even thinner I don't know I guess I was just expecting a nice fluffy thick waffle more than an eggo toast like one. Time: took forever. Coffee took about 20 minutes, food at least another 20, reminder we just ordered what ended up being the tiniest 2 waffles so I don't know how it takes that long to cook.. there were no sides or anything that came with it so it was definitely a simple order that should've been pretty quick imo. I doubt we will be coming back, $50 for 2 alright coffees and eggo waffles that took ~45 mins kinda rubbed me the wrong way but at least we can say we gave it a fair shot ‍
