Food was decent. Restaurant was clean and service was prompt. However, it would have been nice to enjoy my meal without listening to my waitress and the table behind me complaining about their HOA and naming the people they had a beef with. This is a small town and a local restaurant. I like to support local businesses; especially those that give back to the community. The owners of this restaurant do a lot for our small town. I love the retro graphic designs on their walls and booths. Plenty of seating, a huge menu, and great service! The Hubbs had the sourdough cheeseburger which is over half a pound. He asked for it cooked medium rare and it was perfect. We both opted for tater tots which were great. I had the hot corned beef sandwich. It was served with corned beef chunks rather than slices and with lots of cheese. Almost too much cheese. These are words that I never thought would come out of my mouth (or keypad). Very nice place. Clean, organized, and good home town food choices. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Casual dining and everything from omelets, burgers, lasagna, and much more. So I'm on the road and know about Pepper's. I decide to check online and I found their menu which listed the Western Burger w/Cheese and Bacon for $12.99. I order two, and when I pick them up I don't notice that he's charged me $14.59 each. I went back an told him that I ordered from his published menu online while I was on the road, but he won't give me my $3.00 back because he has to get auth from the owner. Came on July 4th with low expectations given that it was a holiday and it delivered on our worst expectations - the vegetarian dish was partially uncooked potatoes served with meat gravy, the bean burrito consisted of dried out refried beans wrapped in a cold tortilla and covered with cheese whiz, and the waitress was just plain unkind. The staff was speedy and friendly and the food was beyond expectations. Typically when I eat out I have left overs and neither of us had left overs (this is not due to small servings because their plates are PLENTIFUL. It was just that good) I ordered the strawberries and cream waffle with a side of hashbrowns and my man ordered the cinnamon French toast special with OJ. Exceeded expectations. Haven't been into Fortuna Pepper's in a long time. Was kinda disappointed. Several people in line nobody being seated. Many employees just walked past all of us. The place was pretty empty. Went with a friend. Food tasted ok, but 24 hours later, I was never so sick in my life. Went to the ER. Horrible stomach pains nausea and bleeding. I hadn't eaten anything else since that so it had to be that it could have been the fruit, or the meat on my sandwich but it had to be one or the other. I went to the Arcata Pepper's that recently opened. We ate once indoors but they have since changed to takeout only. Very clean diner. I was very impressed by how clean they kept it during Covid. It felt pristine! The menu is extensive but not vegetarian/vegan friendly. I tried the Veggie Burger which was very flavorful. For a menu with so many options, I would love to see more vegetarian and vegan options. Covid precautions are taken seriously: they only let one party at a time inside to order, paper menus that are then thrown away and you have to wait outside until your order is ready. read more

Could have used a bit more seasoning; got the potato salad as a side (instant regret) didn't have any flavor besides bland potato and hints of pickle. The fried zucchini sticks were yummy and had a generous helping (for the price I was hoping it would be more than 8 sticks and it was). I don't remember one time they got my order right causing my family to eat while I go back for the correct order. Moreover the look I got didn't make things any better.
