I had the absolute worst, most offensive phone call with a business today. I was harassed and called an idiot for calling his business, using the number listed for his business on a Sunday. My relationship with Bobs Muffler started great! I took my car in to have a down pipe installed on my Saab 9-3 about 2 - 3 months ago. He offered and insisted to drive me home while I wait which I accepted being I was just around the corner. About 20 minutes later my phone rings and its Bob calling me saying there is a problem and he was on his way to pick me up. We get back to his shop a he tells me he didn't know how to work on the Saab and he suggested taking it to a Saab specialist but once I'm good to go to come back and he would "hook me up with a really bitchin cat-back", as he said. He was really cool very nice and eager to help. Now that everything on my car has been taken care of and it is ready for the exhaust, I went ahead and looked him up on the map app on my phone. I called. This was our exact conversation. Bobs, "Hello this is Bob.", Me, "Hey man, I brought the Saab in a couple months ago for a down pipe installation that was unsuccessful (chuckling as we thought it to be slightly funny a few months back).", Bobs, "Ok.......................", Me, "You don't remember me?", Bobs, "No..", Me, "Oh. Really? Ok well...", Bobs, "No!.... Why are you calling me on a Sunday!?", Me, "I uhh, was just calling about getting some exhaust work done.", Bobs, "Well not today! Your local mom and pop owned muffler shop! I called Bob in the morning at around 8:15 asking for an estimate to getting my catalytic converter replaced. He asked me for the make and model of my car and gave me the quote that I needed. I drove down and once I got there, he said he could start working on my car right away! Since my car needed a bit of work it took about an hour and a half to get finished. He finished promptly at a reasonable price. I was referred to Bob for a new catalytic converter on my Toyota Echo about 3 years and 70,000 miles ago. I was expecting an expensive, time consuming job, and was pleased to be out the door for a couple hundred dollars in one afternoon. When the check engine light came back on last month, the Orange County AAMCO who checked my light code said I was looking a new catalytic converter for $1200 (are you crazy, my car isn't worth that!) Luckily, I still had Bob's number. Sort of like my dad would have, he consoled me a bit and told me that some high mile cars get this way: they burn oil and kill cats. But, he said he'd take my little car for the day, make sure a cat was really what she needed, look around for a potential cause, and keep me posted by phone. Sure enough, he called a few hours later and said he'd found an old crummy O2 sensor that he could replace and it might help the next one last a little longer, no guarantee but it didn't hurt to try. He gave me a deal on the replaced catalytic converter, giving me another at 2011 prices, since I had to return so soon, and I was again out the door in one day for under $350. What can I say? If she's still running in 60,000 miles, I'll bring her back to Bob and still have spent less than the $1200 quote from AAMCO. I will admit, this is not a swanky 24/7 muffler shop, but if you want an honest answer from a guy who has obviously been doing this for a while, Bob is your man! Not a professional. All I needed was a simple expansion of two tubes. After explaining that I need the tube to fit just right, he over expands the tube, and then throws a fit, when I call him out on it. and in his words, "I just threw you outta here, get out!" I've been taking my cars and trucks to Bob for years. He's always given me a fair price, top notch work, and a friendly attitude to boot. I wouldn't have anyone else even look at my exhaust. I've moved around the San Gabriel valley and inland empire a few times in the last ten years, but Its always worth the drive to go see Bob. He just recently removed a loud aftermarket muffler of my Chevy Colorado. I called him up and sure enough he had a factory muffler in stock. I headed over to his shop and he had me in-and-out in about 30 minutes. Spoke to Bob today to get a quote to check my M3 aftermarket exhaust for leaks and possibly just tighten one of the hinges since there seems to be a small leak coming from it. He quotes me $50-$60. Seems a bit over priced for something that will most likely take him a few minutes but he still had the benefit of the doubt. Then he tells me I HAVE to drop it off. I asked for 2 magnaflow mufflers to be welded on. Guy said no problem. I even saw a bunch of magnaflow boxes around the shop. I found out the mufflers were NOT magnaflow brand after they were weldedI was told "they are all the same". I was lied to and probably ripped off. read more

I got a new catalytic converter here a while ago and then recently i discovered a crack in the pipes! I called up Bob and he told me he to just bring it in and he'll weld it up for me free of charge! BOB is great. I went there with what I was told was a flex pipe leak that my mechanic wanted $400 to fix. Didn't know about Bob, but he sounded honest on the phone and had good reviews. He actually found it wasn't a flex pipe but a leak in the flange. Not only did he fix the problem, he cost a whole lot less. My car runs fantastic now. My son's even having his exhaust redone today!
