Took a chance and came here to see if they could fix my AIRDIYA hand held vacuum. Part of the head roller's side bolt had too much hair and bent. Bob Jr. gave me a reasonable estimate. comparing this to a shark vacuum stick. Said it would take about 5 days. I didn't mind the wait. The valuation worked as a hand held vacuum for usage in cars. It was an $80 vacuum and I was charged $25 to get it fixed. He fixed it to work, but part of the bolt broke. It's fine as long as it works. This shop's basic charge starts at $179, no matter how small the problem is. I went there because my sewing machine was working fine except for the reverse function, which caused the bobbin thread to tangle. The owner immediately quoted me $179 for the repair. I truly believe they charge people differently depending on who they are, and I suspect that if I weren't Asian, they wouldn't have tried to overcharge me this much for such a simple issue. When I hesitated, the owner insisted that my machine was a great one--better than any new machine sold elsewhere or even in his own shop. A female customer nearby vouched for him, saying he was trustworthy and good at repairs, so I decided to believe them and pay for the repair. But only two weeks later, the same problem happened again. While I was in the shop, I saw a red sewing machine priced at $399. I agreed to trade in my old machine and pay an additional $150, meaning I paid $329 in total plus my old machine to get the "new" one. However, this new machine turned out to be defective as well. After just one month, it broke and needed repair, and two weeks later, it broke again. Meanwhile, the shop had already sold my old machine for $250. I asked for a $300 refund, explaining that they already earned $250 from selling my machine and $29 from me, so even refunding $300, they would still profit $279. The owner refused, citing a "no refunds" policy, and only offered $275. When I pointed out how unfair that was, he argued that he was losing money because I was returning the machine. After arguing, he added $10, making it $285, and basically told me to take it or leave it. I had no choice but to accept the $285 and return the faulty machine. When I told them I would leave a review about my experience, the owner arrogantly said, "We have plenty of customers, so we don't care." That attitude says it all. To make it worse, I found out that they delete Yelp reviews--they even removed my review, so I am writing this again. This shop overcharges, sells defective machines, and hides behind their policies instead of taking responsibility. If you value your money and fairness, avoid this place at all costs. read more

We drove over on La Mirada Blvd, just past imperial Hwy and found it on the west side in a small strip mall. The gentleman inside, looked at the sewing machine and noted the model number and said he didn't have the part in stock, but would try to order it. He sail he would give us a call. He was very helpful and concerned. He called two days. Later and said that for that old machine, that part was no longer available. I brought in an old Kenmore from 1967. It had been sitting since the mid 70s. The machine was frozen and a nylon can was split and inoperable. They couldn't find the part so I spent time trying to locate one. If I had enough time I could have one printed or cast. I was fortunate enough to find a used one from the same model machine but a different version which was metal. They guys there were so helpful. They made the part work, replaced the motor because something was wrong with it, replaced a belt and some other piece, lubed and adjusted everything, and cleaned it all up. I don't sew. This was my mother's machine and it's going to my daughter. They tested it and showed me all the stitches and explained about it. All I know is I was told it's as good as new and I definitely believe it. Anyway, I work on cars and I understand what it takes to make old machines work, and how hard it is to get obsolete parts. I super appreciate what was done for me. I was treated as if I were a repeat customer that bought a new machine from them. This kind of service and attitude is practically unheard of today. If ever there is something I need that can be handled there, this will wholeheartedly be my go to place. I wish there were more stars available than 5. read more

Did Bob's Sew & Vac fix my sewing machine? YES. Did they do a good job? YES. Did it take long...also yes *shakes fist at supply chain issues*. I broke the needle plate of my Brother serger and wanted to have it repaired by an authorized repair shop. I only had two options within a 50 mile radius and chose Bob's because of the great reviews and the other place had mixed reviews. They were cool enough to give me a ball-park quote on the phone so I wouldn't have sticker shock and when I went to drop off my machine I was in and out pretty quick. I wished they were more proactive with keeping me in the loop, but I could tell when I walked in that this was a very busy business (good for you!!) so I tried to be chill about it. When my machine was ready I made the trek and they even explained what was up with my machine. They even set the tensions for me and had a demo stitch which was nice. I didn't want to give five stars because it took so long (even though I could tell it would be the case by looking at their shop and knowing we currently have issues with global supply chains), but I decided I just wouldn't leave any review.....but then...THEN I SEWED... oh em gee!!!!! WOW! My machine purrs like a kitten and kid you not, sews BETTER than when I took it out of the box!! It's like I went in with a four cylinder car and they switched out the motor for a hemi! The machine runs much quieter, doesn't vibrate my dinky IKEA table and feeds the fabric much more smoothly. Loves it. Well worth the wait and cost! read more

A nice small shop to go to. I was advised to go here after my vacuum broke after two uses. While everyone was really nice, it was a bit frustrating that i had to go back 3 times. The vacuum wasn't fixed after they said it was the first two times. The last time, the worker said it would have to be sent in as a defect to the company. First place that popped up when searching for Kirby vacuum repair. The place I used to go to is permanently closed. Went there hauling my vacuum cleaner in and I didn't feel very welcomed. Most of the time you get a hi , can I help you, but I didn't this day. I explained my situation I just needed a power cord because my cord was frayed. He said he will order one and he would give me a call in a few days. A week later no call, so I called and he said no shipment. He would call me back, no call. I call him he said pick it up tomorrow. I was at home frustrated because my machine wasn't working and giving me an error and I was looking for places and Bob's sew and vac were the only ones who replied! I brought it in and they were so polite they carried my machine in for me and made me feel relaxed and trusting them about the whole situation. Customer Service at its absolute best!!! I have an old Hoover Wind Tunnel vacuum, I know it's a great one but it's been around for a long time and I was dreading buying one of the new "improved" ones that are cheaply made and super expensive. My Dad said that they take their vacuum to Bob and he does an overhaul on it and they'll give it back good as new. Alright, that's what I'll do! And that's what I did... and that's what they did too. From initial phone call, to dropping off my vacuum to picking it up, I was pleased 100% with the entire process. Although I had been told on the phone that it would only take 1 day, once I dropped it off I was told it would take longer. That's fine, they had no idea what they were in for. I've had 4 big indoor dogs with this vacuum and it's moved a few times and had to pick up all kinds of hair, leaves, treat crumbs, etc. I took it in on a Saturday and they said they'd start it on Monday and be done by Wednesday. Sure enough! It was done and it was beautiful! My 20-ish year old vacuum looked brand new!!! So looking new and acting new are two different things. I have a 2 story condo and it's 90% carpet. I hate carpet. I REALLY hate carpet. But until it wears out, I'm keeping it. In I go with my new looking vacuum, plug it in and start it up. YES!!! Not only did it look new, this thing has its muscle power back!! I didn't realize how awful it had been working until I got it back in wonderful working condition! So happy!!! Not only does the vacuum look and work amazing... Bob and his crew are awesome! I spoke with Bob on the phone and he was polite and very friendly. The young gentleman working the counter when I dropped off and picked up was also super informative and helpful, smiling the entire time. The shop is clean, organized, and has all everything you need for both vacuums and sewing machines. Price was reasonable too. He had to replace my bristle roller, the belts, the filters and also clean it out, lube it up and scrub it. This cost me about $100. Well worth every penny!! Thank you Bob and Staff! The owner said "I love what I do." He's amazing and his love of fixing mechanical problems with sewing machines and vacuums shows. His customer service is 10***. I took in my sewing/embroidery machine and he fixed it right in front of me, said it looked tricky, but was so very minor. I told him I'd been awake all night sewing and then stressing out over what I thought was a very broken machine. He rethread it, made a few minor adjustments, recommended I go home, get some sleep and definitely stop sewing when tired. I agreed 110%. He didn't even charge me because the issue was so minor. I was tired, got frustrated and made silly mistakes. I'm so grateful to have such a wonderful business owner just down the street from me. I fell in love with a pair of sheers he had, so he's going to order me a pair. He helped me pick out some specialty needles for machine embroidery on both silks and denim fabrics and a straight stitch presser foot I've been wanting. I'm so excited !! I'm going to get some rest and then try out my new accessories. He has my business forever.
