It wasn't the control board and it turned out to be a broken wire that I fixed myself. He didn't seem too confident on how to access the parts on the machine. This is based on my wife's experience yesterday using this company. Our dryer of about 10-12 years was not drying the clothes. I looked on the Nextdoor app for a recommendation and found this place. I checked them out on this site and most of the reviews were positive so we decided to give them a try. My wife works for home so she called to set up a visit to have the problem diagnosed. The house visit costs $25. They gave her an appointment time that same day just a few hours later and the worker showed up on time. He quickly found the problem and replaced the part for a reasonable price and the entire visit was less than 30 minutes. She said he was polite and we should use him if any of our other appliances have issues...hopefully we can get a few more years out of the dryer. read more

As other reviewers have said, look elsewhere if you need your appliance repaired. He attempted to fix my washer and said it was an easy fix. He ordered a part and supposedly fixed it, and it was doing the same thing the following week. I called him back and he said it was the transmission and I should buy a new one. I was already out 130 dollars and the money could have gone to a new Washing Machine. Make sure to get a second opinion, he'll attempt to fix something that is unfixable to make some money out of you. read more

This really needs to be said. June 3,2023 I called for my ice maker to be repaired. Carlos came out and the first thing he asked for was the $$$ for the house call even before he seen the appliance that need to be repaired. I had to call him 2 weeks later June 17th and he still said he was waiting for the part. Called back today July 17th and he said he doesn't remember me. Want my address so he can see if he has the part. I told him it's been a month and a half, you should have at least had the courtesy to call and said you wasn't coming back. I asked for my house call refund ASAP! He said he's not gonna argue about $40. I told him it's not the $$, it's the courtesy and professionalism I expected. My dryer wasnt drying anymore so I needed someone to come look at it. Called on a Fri and they were able to come out on sat. Offered service to come between 12-2p, came a little after 12, so Im glad I didnt have to wait all day! The charge to come look wasnt expensive and to fix it by replacing vent and coils it was about $160 all together. They took zelle, worked fast and now my dryer is working again! read more

I am really piss that I got a refrigerator the end of last year and I told them I needed a 18 cubic feet and the lady lied to me and said it was and all the other measurements is what I needed to fit in my place and I tired to call them a couple of weeks ago and the lady on the phone said they cant help me by letting me get the right size and I would pay the difference and said they will get back to me and help me with something at least and never heard from them and now I am stuck with a size that I cant even put much in the freezer to have for the summer like a bag of ice I would not recommend this place to no one not even my enemies they don't be honest with their products and it is sad that they dont care about the customers satisfaction!!! read more

OUCH. This place is a rip off. They do not tell you that all sales are finial and no refund or exchange until you get the invoice by email. After you get that e-mail there a link to click on to give you the warranty. OUCH. That when you find out they did not tell you at time of sale that the sale was an, "as is" no return or refund.. We purchased a rebuilt gas stove and was told free delivery and free gas line. Delivery was free but no free gas line. Called them to ask why not and they just give you a fast big fat lie to why you did not get it. Our stove is wires up wrong for the ecect. lites to turn of burned. all burner spark at the same time even though you only want one burner. The stove creates so much exces heat i cold fry an egg on the stove top. When the oven was on i though the side of stove was way to hot and the walls of my kitchen where hot. Felt like and still do that this stove is going to burn my house.down. Thy say they have a six month warranty yet at bottom of it it say," we have the right to cancel this warranty at anytime" so in truth. they do not fix the problem. I am disappointed. I am a Mother of 2 my Husband and I work very hard for our money. I have purchased 2 refrigerators from Alka appliances. The first one we were new to living on our own so we tried this place. We got a used refrigerator for around $350. It started leaking really bad within a few months and we had to pay Alka to fix it. After we paid to get it fixed it went out again, so we thought just bad luck and decided to get another one. They took the old one back (which I'm sure they jimmied it up to re-sale it). So we went and got another one for around $500 ( for refrigerator, delivery & picking up the old one. So once we got the refrigerator I started cleaning and noticed the refrigerator had roaches. It was like they sealed up the rubber part and tried hiding the dead roaches. That's when I should have made a big deal but my Husband and I bombed it out and cleaned it completely. We opened the back (only had it 2 days) they sealed it with cardboard it had year old spider webs. After all the cleaning and buying things to clean up dead roaches the refrigerator gets a coolant leak from inside where their repair man cant get to. Lesson learned you definitely get what you pay for. We are purchasing a brand new never used refrigerator this week. If you still decide to use this place because money is short be very very careful. They fix it up enough to get your money. I will look for more pictures I also have a video but unfortunately I cant put it on here. Very unhappy with there services and customer service. I called to schedule and appointment and to get estimate. After a couple different estimates I got my fridge and freezer repaired. one week later same thing happened, i called again to get the work warantied. when the worker came he gave my wife an attitude and told her we got to do another repair that cost 290 to do or get a new refrigerator and freezer. This time it was our fantastic Maytag washer (Neptune....never buy these!!) that failed. We had heard that Maytag had a lemon here, but we were hard headed and bought them anyway about 9 years ago, nothing but trouble since then. So when it died recently (after first being fixed about a hundred times!) we finally went back to our old friends at ALKA and bought an interim washer. You know what those are: the washer you need to clean your clothes while you save up for the one of your dreams!! Since new, fancy washers are about $900 we got a bargain by paying only a little over $200 for this quite clean and serviceable washer. It's a little bit loud but that's ok, it does what it's supposed to do and furthermore it's dependable. That goes a long way. Thank's to ALKA they even delivered it for free and set it up, even showing me the different cycles. Very nice people and the ultimate professionals as well. Last year (2020) the washer required a minor repair that I was able to do myself with the help of YouTube, but both appliances are otherwise still functioning. Not a bad run for the modest price I paid. Here in January 2022 they've delivered a fridge at a competitive price. Professional and punctual. Minus one star because my fridge was acting up after two weeks. Luckily warranty was still good. I made a call and didn't have my receipt but they had my info on file and just looked up my name. I scheduled for them to come look at it on Monday and they called before coming and got to seeing what was the problem right away. I am very happy with the service and it's a really good deal for used appliance. I actually waited to write a review because I seen some people had issues with their appliance on the other reviews. I took the risk in going there and of course there's bound to be some glitches here and there that might have not been able catch the first time before selling and I'm glad that they offered that warranty or I would have been mad. Here's where they lost another star. When I first saw their ad it stated that it was free delivery in certain area and long beach was listed as free delivery but I guess they go by within "10" miles. My Samsung washer wouldn't lock up and start the wash cycle. These machines all have too many plastic parts in them where the amount of stress they take causes breakage. So I found ALKA here on Yelp and thought I'd give them a shot due to the good reviews. They're also local here in Norwalk. Sure enough, Carlos came to my home and got me up and running in one afternoon. This in spite of having to make 2 trips to his parts supplier as they gave him a wrong part no. on his first trip. I purchased a refrigerator yesterday and it was delivered this morning WITHIN the time window. That's almost unheard of these days. This family business should be proud of their level of service. The young man who helped me select the fridge was so friendly and helpful. Since the appliances were all used and I was looking at he inexpensive ones, he showed me the flaws each one had so I could choose what would be the best ones for me, instead of hiding them. He informed me of the warranty and free service calls that they do even after the warranty expires. As I said the delivery people were on time and helpful. They hooked it up and made sure it worked, and did not damage anything on their way in or out. Normally I don't buy used appliances but times are changing and we all need to save a little money. They provide the cheapest service call at $25! The rep also came in on time. They gave me a quote to get the refrigerator repaired and I accepted it. He was going to bring the part and come back in the evening. He did that again in time. After a while it was determined it wasn't worth it to get the refrigerator fixed.
